I was so angry because they played in this way.You know I called them before I drove to there place. They said:' come on to pick up your camery LE'.But they changed the decision in 1 hour(my dirving time).
Sandy Springs is most unhumanity dealer I have seen. You guys if do not want to be cheated by other people.Do not believe them at any time!!!
Thanks,
i believe it is a toyota warrantyi will call the dealer to see if it is toyota and if there is a deductable.
This effectively represents $228 over Edmund's TMV. (I only included the invoice, options and destination charge from the dealer's offer for an apples to apples comparison). The total OTD offer represents roughly $1000 over an "agreed upon" invoice price (this car isn't on the lot - must be ordered, so there's no actual invoice. Just a near happy medium between the dealer's number and what I've reviewed in several reputable websites).
I guess I have two specific questions really. One, Is $1000 (roughly 4.5% of the agreed upon invoice price) appropriate? It's the top of the range I had in mind, so it feels high to me. Two, am I getting hosed on fees? Excluding sales tax (3% in NC), I'm looking at $635 Southeast Region Toyota "administrative" charges and roughly $500 in documentation, tags & licensing. Is it just me or does almost $1200 in fees seem high? (It's been six years since I've bought a car.)
I liked the salesman. Felt he was generally very straight with me and he's with a reputable local dealer. I'm just having trouble feeling like this is a good deal (i.e. the dealer's making up for a lower starting point on the back end with the fees).
I'd really appreciate any thoughts or feedback.
Thanks.
The big 3 cities will always have the lowest prices if you're willing to travel.
$22,666.00 MSRP

I almost purchased a loaded Mazda3 but I opted for the roominess, smoother ride, and reliability of the Camry SE. I think the extra money for the Camry SE was well worth it.
Playing around with the configurator of a Camry SE 4 cylinder on Carsdirect.com, I noticed that when you select XM radio, some other options become not available at the same time.
For instance, you cannot order XM and the subwoofer at the same time.
You cannot order XM radio plus cargo net at the same time???!!
You cannot order the SE Premium Package with leather seats with XM radio.
What is this about?
Can you get an SE V6 with navigation and XM at the same time?
hope that helps.

I am not taking a lease and need to make a payment upfront. Is this a good offer?
I recently saw a sale around Chicagoland selling LE's with no extras for $15,995. There are deals out there if you can find them. I got mine at the very end of March, and the dealers were trying to pump up their sales quotas for the quarter. I'd say keep shopping!
I am looking for LE Camry Automatic but the best that I could find was $17,289.
I sincerely appreciate if you could provide me an address, or dealership name in Chicago area where I can buy a car for this price.
Thank you!!
[= $17,206 + Fees]
The above is for a Camry LE no additions.
Is this a good deal? Or can the price go lower?
Also, when it comes to bargaining with the dealer, how much extra leverage do I have if I pay in cash?
I almost bought one that day but then I saw the Camry SE and decided to go with that model. I got a great deal from another dealer after a little research and hunting.
Nearly every Friday, the dealers in San Diego have a special sale ("Two only at this price" etc.) like that. Others are Toyota of El Cajon, Bob Baker Toyota, and sometimes Poway Toyota. They sell out really quickly, of course.
Toyota of El Cajon had a deal going for "Any Camry on the lot for $2,000 under invoice". That included the $1,000 rebate, of course. Give them a call.
You might just start looking in your own local paper every day, early, to see if anyone in the LA area is doing this too.
OK, so he buys the car and when I look at his paperwork later that evening, nothing makes sense. The agreed upon price is MUCH higher.
He put 7 grand down and has perfect credit and finances for 60+ months 5.25+. When I look at his receipt this 21.000+ car suddenly is costing him 27,000+ The paperwork is so confusing. I dont even see where they applied the downpayment. It starts with a "net price" which I assumed to be the price he and the dealer agreed upon before going in to the financing room, and then goes down hill from there.
It went like this: the Salesman and my friend agreed on a price. the trade in was a lot lower then what they had told him a week prior too. And there was a 299 doc fee that he paid. He then went into the financing Dept and that is when this price suddenly got all confusing to my friend. .
As of Tuesday of this week it's a done deal. Does he have any recourse?? Btw, the dealership (he went to) people are very VERY intimidating.
BTW the XLE is 4 cyl and doesn't have anything special. Just your basic package.
Thank you
I think I am a bad negotiator too but I've learned my lessons b4. thanks to edmunds.com.
If they didnt put 7000 downpayment on signed document.,, I'd tell my bank to stop that check (Unless he paid cash).
Where did you find the car for a lower price of $21,885 (2005 Camry SE with V6 Engine) at one of the Internet car sales websites? Would you please write to me and let me know about this Internet car sales at:
jy0115@hotmail.com
Greatly Appreciated!!!!

Thank you,

I would like advice from Forum members on the email I'm sending to a few local Toyota dealers in the northern California region. Suggestions appreciated.
Hello,
I live in San Jose and would like to receive an “out the door” quote (taxes, tags, doc charges, etc.) for a Camry LE with:
- Automatic Transmission
- Driver and front passenger front seat-mounted side airbags and front and rear side curtain airbags
- Color (from best to worst)
sky blue
mineral green
aspen green
lunar mist
desert sand
I am leaving on a business trip this Friday and would prefer to purchase the car ASAP, for cash, no trade-in. Please let me know if I've forgotten to specify anything and I'll be happy to reply.
Cheers,
Robert
Don't you want to get floor mats too.. that is an option on Camry
BTW I went through same exercise recently and didn't have a very good experience with Hayward Toyota... they tried to play some old car salesman tricks
Good luck!!
I agree with the previous post that you may potentially get taken advantage of without more specific wording in your email to dealers. If you check previous post #1817, it may be of help to you. Also, if you read earlier posts, several have received very good deals from Bay Area dealers so you may want to start with ones that others have had positive experiences with. Best of luck.
1) Camry STD with floor mat, keyless entry, and extra mile aluminum for $17,300 plus tax, TTL, no other fees:
2) Camry LE with Floor mat for $17,315 plus tax and TTL. No other fees
3) Camry LE with Floor mat, extra mile aluminum , and Tint windows for $18,150 plus tax and TTL. No other fees.
Any comments? Thanks.
The Sandman :confuse:
Biggest issue with email quotes: You send a request with specifics. They reply with a number, but they DON'T include your original message. So the quote is meaningless. Each time I got a quote with dollars only, I shot back a reply asking for the specifications AND the price. That's how I found the guy who missed the airbags.
Paid via check but the dealer wouldn't let us drive the car home because the insurance on my 1993 almost dead Taurus is liability only, and if my check bounces and the car is stolen, etc. they're out of luck. My stellar credit didn't change this decision, bummer but understandable.
Interesting that the pressure in an internet sale moves from the sales floor to the finance office, where they try to sell you extended warranty, $350 Scotchguard, $1000 for 10 oil changes, etc. Didn't expect the finance guy to be such a sharp salesman. Said no to all his pitches and gave him a check from my money market account. 80 minutes start to finish.
Robert
I think dealers try to reply in their *cryptic* way, just to keep enough room to get little more out of you. I had mentioned in my RFQs that I would like to choose any color I like and the price quote did say "Color: various" but got the typical car salesman response "You can't get Camry LE in Phantom Gray at this price anywhere in bay area ... but if you really like it I can get you a good price". Of course I walked away, next day got the same color at $200.00 less at a different dealership.
Anyway too much whining about car dealers
Dear: toyota of plano
There is $1500 Cash Back available.
MSRP: over $21000
Invoice: $18570 (include airbag, but not include destination fee)
Cash Back: -$1500
Our price: $18800 driving out
dealer: $19300
I feel we can settle at $19000, but we walked away. Could you give me some suggestions how much is fair to me (sales tax in our area is 6.25%)? TIA
the real cost (invoice - TDA - MAF - holdbacks - 1% Finance charge), which I think is fare. I like www.carbuyingtips.com too. I think Jeff has put together some really nice stuff. I recommends the site to all my friends.
I have a question for you: did you buy any sorts of extended warranty for your
camry? I have a 96 Camry (with 100,000 miles, never in the shop).
Thanks. Have a nice weekend.
Do you use the Excel spread sheet on www.carbuyingtips.com? I used it.
I took the invoice price - TDA - MAF - 1% Finance Charge - 3% holdback,
then add 5% profit, then minus $1,500 to get the selling price. Tag and title are
about $150, and dealer usually charges $50 document fee and $50 inventory tax
(do know why). I tested drive a LE auto with floor mat (msrp $20,896) at Toyota of
Plano this week too. I asked for $17,400 + tax + title (about $18,700 out of door).
They turned me away. Vandergriff Toyota web site lists the same LE auto with flooe mat for $17,413. Try them too. If you need information from me, leave a email,
I will contact you.
Happy shopping.

I am a newbie on the forum. I am planning to buy camry LE auto with side/curtain airbags. could someone please advice me what's good starting price i should offer dealers? also could someone please give me some recommandation on local dealers in Boston region, that known to give bargain price. I know it's close to the end of the month, there must be some good dealers flying around. I am trying to take the oppurtunties to get a new car for the family.
thanks for the help
I located the car I wanted with this central NJ dealer (LE w/ Side Curtain Air bags in Black). Spoke to the Sales Manager over the phone, Offered him 17344 after 750+400 (College Grad rebate) + Tax + Title etc. The Manger accepted the offer in 5 min. However, he refused to fax any paperwork about the deal, but asked me to come over.
Of course, I was 80% sure that he is just trying to make me come over and will hit me with other fee etc once I am there. He told me that the Doc fee was $95 and Tags were 47.50 (which I was transferring from my old car, the price would be 247.50 in case I needed new tags), which made me even more suspicious.
Since the dealership was only 20 min from my house, I decided to go over. To my surprise, every thing went very smoothly. It took me about 3 hours to (a) choose the car, I was not sure about the interior color (taupe or Stone- finally for Taupe) (b) test drive (c) finish the paperwork (d) prep the car for delivery. Total out of the door cost was $18603.64. Financed the amount with TFS @5.9% for 60 months.
Here is the breakup-
LE w/ side airbags 18494
Tax (NJ- 6%) 1109.64
Registration Trans 47.50
NJ Tire tax 7.50
Doc Fee 95.00
Total 19753.64
Minus 750 + 400 (College Grad Rebate)
Final out of the door Price = 18603.64
When calling dealerships, its better to speak with the sales manager. (I think) The salesmen can not offer such aggressive pricing over the phone. I called over 20 dealerships in my area, was able to speak with the manager at this one place only, and got the deal. Most salesman said that the offer was below the invoice minus 2% holdback and hence not feasible. When I went to this dealership to pick up the car, the manager asked a salesman to handle my paperwork and the salesman was surprised to see the numbers and double-checked with the manager.
The reason I did not follow the popular 'Fax attack' method was because I needed a car very quickly and did not have access to the fax machine on that day.
BTW- the basis for my $17344 ( 18494 - 750 -400 ) number was darcars dot com.
Thanks.
