I don't know what the pricing difference is, but here in the midwest, Kelly Blue Book shows dealer retail to be around $14,800. Edmunds.com shows the true market value to be slightly over that for dealer retail, and around $15,900 if it is certified. This pricing included keyless entry and power drivers seat. I purchased a certified 2002 Camry LE V6 back in June '04. I negotiated the advertising fees. I ended up not paying them. You should be able to avoid it if they want to sell the car. Hope this helps.

what were the options on this model for $29334? please show the option codes if possible.

Base XLE V6 + HX (XLE Navigation Package) + GU (VSC & Side Airbag Package) + HD (Heated Front Seats) + Destination Charge = $29,010.

Throw a few accessories, and that's how you would end up in the mid 29K MSRP.

Here is a page from Edmunds:

i emailed some local dealers for a quote and so far they are all a little bit over $17000. is this what i should expect in the ny/nj area for a 2005 base camry with manual trans?

    thanks
  • ian721ian721 Member Posts: 93
I think you should be able to get a 2005 Standard with manual transmission for less than $17G. Check the Friday - Sunday papers and you might see something better. I got a 2004 Standard w/auto for $15,898 in NY and at that time a Standard w/manual was $1000 less. They probably haven't gone up that much.

you need to understand, that when you think a dealer is making too much money and you want to get a car for nothing, the salesman suffers. I do understand that there are some bad salesmen out there, but there are many honest hard working salesmen to. What do you think a salesman should make in a year?
  • SylviaSylvia Member Posts: 1,636
Sorry - this isn't the discussion to debate what a salesperson should be making, etc.

We have plenty of discussions for that subject in our Smart Shopper message board.

    Thanks!
  • ian721ian721 Member Posts: 93
The +$17G is high for a manual Standard in the NY area. Five Town Toyota is advertising in the Daily News today the 05 LE w/AUTO for $16,795 w/rebate. You might be able to get the manual for ~$1000 less than that (maybe).

I do not see any one talking about new Camry XLE buying experiences of late. I am in Upstate NY and have to buy a car in 7-10 days.

I emiled the local dealer and offered Invoice+ destination-750 [rebate] for a Camry XLE [not V6].

But they said their invoice is 3000 more than this and said they will show their invoice???? and turned down my offer.

Any suggestions? or has any one else bought Camry in NY recently for under invoice [- 750 cash back]?

    Thanks.

I am planning to buy Camry SE 4 cyl tomorrow.

    I got offer at $19200

    Is it good offer?

    please help me.

btw, I live in New Jersey.
  • oldtaurusoldtaurus Member Posts: 7
I sent my buying offer to more a dozen of dealers by fax.

    $18450-$750(Toyota rebate)-$400(Graduate rebate)+$425+$1107 = $18832 with 2.99 50 month financing.

One accepted my offer, but a LE with side airbag is rare here in New Jersey. They have to swap car with PA dealer and drive all the way here.

    Hope this information helpful

Where in NJ are you? I had our 02 Camry in for servicing a few weeks back, and there were many 05 LE 5A w/ side curtain airbags available at Freehold Toyota, for example. And all of the XLEs, 4 and V6, had side curtains.

Anyone have an idea as to what Toyota will do in February for incentives? They had $750 rebate and 2.9% financing in January.
  • oldtaurusoldtaurus Member Posts: 7
I am in Somerset county. I bought the vehicle in Brunswick. The total out of door price was 18930 after 750+400 rebate, for a Camry LE, 4cly, Auto, side air bag and carpet and mat, 60 monthes 2.99 financing. But they had to get the car from Allen town, PA, so there was already 100 miles on the vehicle when I bought it. Car was made in Oct, 04, maybe a little bit old.

Hi, thanks to everyone who commented on my previous question. I have one more,

-Do you have to pay sales tax on the manufacturer's rebate?

    - I went to a dealer to purcahse a camry. They did a credit check and told me that I have excellent credit and offered 2.99 apr but asked that I sign a Spot Rider. Apparently being month end, their computers were really busy and the application that was sent to Toyota finanical didn't get processed right away. I didn't want to sigh the spot rider as i believe it protects the dealer not the customer. Is this correct? I told them that i cann't sign the contract until toyota approves that APR and left without buying the car. Did i do the right thing? Thanks
  • alpha01alpha01 Member Posts: 4,747
Hmmn. Thats curious. I dont know why they didnt get an LE with side curtains off the lot from a closer dealer. DCH, which owns Brunswick, also owns Freehold, where I've seen LEs with side curtains. Must have already been sold.

You got a great deal, congrats! Which color did you take?

there is only a black one, which is in my OK list. Camry isn't a good looking car, color doesn't matter too much. I do like the shape of my Taurus, but I have lost brake twice when driving in it in two years.

I got prices through their internet sites from 8 Atlanta area dealers for a particular Camry LE V6 that was scheduled to be built in 3 weeks. (The buyatoyota site for zip codes within Florida, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, and South Carolina lists all cars in inventory at all dealers in those states, and also shows cars scheduled to be delivered to those dealers within the next month.) This worked very well. There was a $1,300 range between the lowest and highest quotes, and the lowest quote was over $700 below Edmunds True Market Value. Stone Mountain Toyota (owned by Sonic) and Team Toyota (owned by AutoNation) were the lowest and I bought it from Stone Mountain, who then told Toyota to deliver the car directly to them. My only bad experience was with Sandy Springs Toyota and I would strongly recommend that that you have no contact with that dealer.

I sold my old car myself and so had no trade-in. A trade-in would make internet shopping difficult or impossible.

By the way, the Edmunds rebate amount for the Southeast was wrong for the last three weeks of January and is often wrong. Edmunds' destination charge is also wrong for the Southeast. To get the best deal, you really need to get quotes from several dealers, and not try to negotiate using Edmunds prices.

Camry LE V6 with GY side airbags, DJ audio, and carpet mats: $20,762 vehicle price + $499 doc fee + $1,068 sales tax + $21 title fee - $1,000 rebate = $21,350 drive-out (out-the-door) price.

    Hi There,

I am looking for a 2005 Camry SE 4 cyl and line in NJ as well. I would tell you that I got a rock bottom offer from Toyota Universe (Rt. 46 Little Falls) of $19250. So, it looks like your offer is a good deal. What dealer gave you this price?

Can you give greater detail on the bad experience with Sandy Springs?
  • alpha01alpha01 Member Posts: 4,747
Which options were on your vehicle? Which transmission? Does that price include $750 rebate?

I recently got a quote of $21,800 for a base model of the Camry SE V6. And eventually got a quote of $22,200 for the same model + side and curtain airbags as an option (priced at about $600 to add to a base model as an option). This price is after a rebate of $750 as well.
  • peachtreecitypeachtreecity Member Posts: 10
You asked about my bad experience with Sandy Springs Toyota in Atlanta. Unlike 8 other Atlanta dealers, Sandy Springs would not give me a quote on the Camry I wanted, which was scheduled to be built in 3 weeks, and kept sending emails asking what I wanted to pay. A salesman then called me and said that he had instructed Toyota to deliver that particular car to Sandy Springs Toyota, that no other dealer could now get it, that I would have to buy the car from them, and that he and I should negotiate a price. That was not a true statement; Stone Mountain Toyota (my low bidder) told me that Sandy Springs had never ordered the car, and Stone Mountain had no problem getting the car delivered to them from Toyota.

For camry LE, the price is $17133 at http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/pricing.aspx?modelid=11324&trimid=-1&src=VIP&tab=1&sub=-1.

Both KBB and Edmunds give $17876.

I am going to make a buyer's offer. Shall I use the MSN price?

    Thanks,

Beware of trying to buy from Classic Toyota in Mentor, Ohio. If you have a trade in they will insult you. Their prices are high, you can find a better deal elsewhere.

I just purchased last week with the following options:

    DJ-JBL System

    SR-Sunroof

GU-VSC and Side & Curtain Airbags

    CF-Carpeted Floor Mats

    MSRP: $25,596.00

    Paid: $21,518.00 after $700.00 rebate.

I negotiated everything over the internet. Showed up at the dealer and an hour later was driving home...

My wife and I just purchased a 2005 XLE from Steven's Creek Toyota in Santa Clara. We paid $20,050 ($20,800 - $750 rebate) for a 4 Cyl XLE with airbags, floor mats, and aluminum wheels. The sales guy was professional and not at all pushy. He let us walk out the door once, but immediately called us back and said they'd agree to our price before we were 10 steps out the door. Overall it was a very pleasant buy experience.
  • qqq3qqq3 Member Posts: 1
The 17133 price is for a manual transmission. The 17876 is for an automatic.
  • peterpanpeterpan Member Posts: 120
If Toyota is really smart and actually cares about its customers' preferences, it should put side air bags as standard feature in all Camry, PRONTO.

Otherwise all Toyota's potential customers will be buying Accords with standard side airbags.

Could you tell me where did you get the price of $15977 for a Camry STD Auto? I got an offer from L.A. today. It's 17188 before 750 rebate. Thanks a lot.

Mercedes, Toyota Boost Prices on 2005 Models

    Posted 2/8/05 9:52 a.m. CST

    By AutoWeek

Mercedes-Benz USA LLC has announced a midmodel-year price increase of 0.7 percent.

The high spot in a round of price increases at Mercedes-Benz was a $3,100 boost in the sticker price of the SL65 AMG coupe.

Nineteen of the brand's 44 sedans, coupes, convertibles and SUVs were affected. Automotive News estimates that the boost averaged about $400.

The increases affected six of Mercedes' nine vehicle classes. Models in the best-selling C class, the S class and M class (SUV) were not raised. Those three lines account for 52 percent of Mercedes-Benz sales.

Most of the bumps ranged from $750 to $1,500. The high spot was a $3,100 boost in the sticker price of the SL65 AMG coupe.

Also raising prices was Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc., which upped prices an average of $142, or 0.6 percent, on all three Scion models and a dozen Toyota brand nameplates. The Scions went up $50 apiece.

Toyota increases were: $100 on the Echo, Corolla and Camry Solara cars, Matrix wagon, Tundra pickup and Sequoia SUV; $150 on the Camry sedan; $200 on the Sienna minivan and RAV4 and Highlander SUVs; and $300 on the 4Runner and Land Cruiser SUVs.

I am looking to buy an SE V6 Camry. Would you please tell me if this is a drive out price?

    -

I would like to know how much others pay for an SE V6 Camry in Atlanta, GA area- Drive out price.

    Thanks
  • peachtreecitypeachtreecity Member Posts: 10
SE with V6 is uncommon---there are only 45 listed on buyatoyota for the southeast. It is unlikely that someone who reads this forum will have bought one recently in Atlanta. Find an SE V6 that you like on the buyatoyota site, preferably one that has not yet been delivered to any dealer (available in March) and get drive-out quotes for that VIN from several Atlanta dealers, including Team and Stone Mountain. That is what I did for an LE V6 and it worked very well. I mention Team and Stone Mountain because they were my two lowest bidders. Get the quotes through the dealers' internet sites; the internet departments are separate from the main dealership and can give lower quotes because the sales commissions are lower.

bought a LE, 4V, automatic with airbags and floor mats for just under 18k (after $1500 rebate).

great experience. gave take-or-leave price to the Vandergriff Toyota (Arlington) internet e-mail. accepted almost immediately. guy i dealt with (which apparently can't name here per policy) was very professional, ethical and friendly. paid cash, and was done in less than 90 minutes total, with no problems whatsoever.

if your in DFW, would recommend giving them a try, as there were NO surprises and they seem to embrace doing deals via interenet.
  • rutger3rutger3 Member Posts: 361
How were you able to get a $1500 rebate?? I thought there was only a $750 rebate? Where is DFW?

    DFW is Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas

My Question For You Is What if toyota did put side airbags on the camry as standard then the pricing of the vehicle would have to rise as well as that everyone now is paying so much less that would just mean less profit for the dealerships as well as less oportunities for sales people to make money that is the thing that most consumers do not realize is that most car salesman are paid on commision if you pay invoice for the car the salesman waisted all of his time for a minimall bottom pay for commision of mabey 100 dollars if hes lucky. Ohh and by the way side curtain airbags are standard now on the xle v6 just thought you might want to know.

    thanks The Salesman

I went ahead and special ordered the following:
2005 Camry SE 5Auto I4 Engine Phantom Gray

Added GU AW Conv. Pack B Floormats/Trunk mat R. Spoiler

    Includes Side Curtain airbags
    VSC
Upgraded radio and a few other do dads
    Allow Wheels
    Rear Spoiler
    Floor/Trunk mats

Special order took ~ 4 weeks to deliver. Negociated to $21340.00 (before figuring in tax title and trade etc.)

I agree the SE if your wanting a little more then the LE is a smart choice. Price out the options your wanting and ride the two on some on and off ramps. If you like the way Honda's ride but the SE. If you like the way the LS300 rider but the LE/XLE.

Is it possible to get both the rebate and a portion of the marketing support now? Also, hard to believe there is that big a difference in rebate amounts between regions,($700- $1500). How is everyone negotiating with the dealers given these issues. And how do salespeople deal with it?
  • fredvhfredvh Member Posts: 857
Can one special order a XLE and, if so, how long would it take? I am thinking about a I4 XLE with the VSC/Side Bags package. I am in the Midwestern region. Would the price be higher since it would have to be ordered?

i want to buy a 05 camry STD with manual transmission. the dealer offered me 17,200 drive out price. I want to have it around 16,300 drive out. Is his price reasonable? Is it possible to get my price? I'm in Houston area.
