andy, its 3 3/4 over invoice so they theoreticly get 6 3/4 percent on the truck profit, i tried to go down further, and they said that they would rather loose this deal and make more later, (and i agree, i think they will ahave no problem selling close to msrp), so i wanted the truck and went with the deal.

Robert, thanks for the great tips! I spoke with a salesman who said he'd get me the Quad 4X4 loaded etc. with SLT. Sounds similar to your truck. He gave me MSRP of 28045 with options. I was going to go in and give him earnest money, but luckily saw your advice! You're saying I should tell them 3.75 % (or less!) over invoice and see how it goes? I am in the Phoenix area and they are also confident in getting full MSRP. Please post more on your negotiating techniques.

Andrew, I also found out today that I can take off another 500.00 as a member of farm bureau, the dealer gave me the runaround on the truck not qualifiing for it, so I called dodge and farm bureau and they said it did, as long as the truck isnt a 4 cyl, and the dealer finally gave in (yippie) so I am knocking off 500.00 at closing off of my estmated 700.00 over invoice to end up with 200.00 over invoice.

    Good luck all,

    Robert

I just ordered a Quad Cab V8 SLT Plus with HD service and anti slip for $400 over invoice when it arrives. That should work out to around 2% over invoice if our estimates are correct. It took a little talking and I had all of the Dodge info from the web site plus extended cab invoice info from here. I was told it should be delivered by December.
  • hennehenne Member Posts: 407
jarzman, congratulations, when it comes to closing if your a member of farm bureau you get 500.00 off your purchase and you only have to be a member for 30 days to qualify, so lets stick together and share ideas, shoot if we keep this up, we may end up gettting the trucks free HAHA.

I just got a price on the quad, sport 4x4, 4.7 auto.(20852) skid plate.(111) mark up (100)and a 500 discount for ordering. Now would I still get the 500 farm bureau discount ? Does this 500 come from farm bureau?
  • hennehenne Member Posts: 407
the discount is through farm bureau, not sure where the actual money comes from, but they said its a deal

I just put a deposit (placeholder pending an order) on a Quad Cab SLT plus pretty much loaded. The dealer is the top truck dealer in the country and just sells for a flat 217.85 over invoice--no hassle, no tricky stuff. Plus I get to use their season tickets at the local ski resort. Since my in-laws have a rental house there, that turns out to be a pretty good deal. They don't have the invoice yet, but will fax that to me as soon as it's available to finalize the order.

The option and invoice details must just now be trickling down to the dealers. Some of you seem to indicate they have enough details to make a quote or take an order--or maybe they're just estimating it to get your order.

I'm new here and don't want to ruffle feathers, but I was surprised by the number of people who've ordered without at least driving the truck and perhaps even waiting a few months to see if it has any bugs.

I really like the Quad Cab from what I can tell, but I'm concerned that it's basically a new model, and the last time Dodge re-did the Dakota in 1997 there were quite a few kinks to work out (at least according to Consumer Reports, which recommends the Dakota, but notes that 1997 was a problem year).

I'm particularly concerned because I heard that Dodge was having trouble mating the 4.7 Liter to the new heavy duty 5 speed manual (which is what I want). In the Cherokee, this engine only comes with an auto.

Obviously many of you don't share these concerns and I'm wondering why.

    Thanks.

    Robert (and others),

You LUCKY DOGS! Congrats on the orders! I'm waiting a little longer. I need to see some in person but that's only because of the color. I don't care what model I see, just to check them out. The dealerships around here haven't had much to choose from but I'll keep looking. I was finally able to price out the Quad today on the Dodge site. Maybe with a few changes this will probably be what I want. (4x2, SLT Quad lots of extras). The MSRP for what I picked was $25.795. I found that Microsoft's Intellichoice site to also be good for pricing. Good luck everybody and by the way, I'd get the truck now without waiting for "bugs" to materialize. I feel we'll have a good product.
  • hennehenne Member Posts: 407
the only real difference in the quad over the other dakotas is that is has 2 more doors. the electical, mechanical(except for drivetrain, which was in the grand cherokee last year with good results, actually better results than the 318 and its tranny)is the same so i dont think there will be a problem, as for test driving it, i have driven the dakota and the durango, the quad is kinda in the middle, so i dont see what can be worng, and just because you order a car doesnt mean you have to close the deal, you can back out if your not happy with the product with no penalties. so lmeyer1, i agree its kinda tough buying blind, but what the hell, i need a new truck by the end of the year and this thing is too perfect for my needs, so im taking the plunge.

    good luck all,

    robert

bees1, i couldnt agree more, i was going to get the patriot blue, which is think is a nice color, but i saw it on another one and wasnt that impressed when i saw, so i went with what i call dodge red hahaha, but if your not sure about color i would definitely wait to see some colors, have you tride looking at other chrysler products, thats how i saw the patriot blue, it was on a caravan.

    good luck
  • hennehenne Member Posts: 407
rlholm, i think if i remember correctly, most all of us have placed the order with a sert figure over invoice, i dont think were that concerned with msrp and we know that invoice will probably be around 2 or more thousand less, so yes it is an estimate as far as what we think invoice will actually be.

    happy shopping,

    robert

    rlholm,

The invoice that you put out was about $3,200 less than the MSRP. Was the invoice really $19,521? Do you have any idea what the invoice is for the Quad Cab 131" WB 4X4 Sport? My dealer hasn't gotten the invoice prices yet. Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks. Any idea what the invoice for the "power overhead conv. group" is? MSRP is $930.

ordered a dakota quad cab 4x4. dealers not talking too much. went to four-the best i could do is $700 over dealer invoice. got it loaded so it will come in around $26,000. good luck
  • tlynn1tlynn1 Member Posts: 24
bakerb 17, CarsatCost has the inv. and msrp of the quads with all options. you will find that some group items have been changed a little and some groups are higher than the club cabs. find out at www.carsatcost.com/cac_frames.html follow "new car" toselect "make/model"
  • rlholmrlholm Member Posts: 37
bakerb17, The base price of $19521 is for both models as previouly mentioned by others. The cost of SLT vs. Sport comes from the quick order package. Carsatcost seems to have all the info correct.

If anyone is having trouble getting a good price and wants to drive a truck home from Northern Idaho, Dave Smith Motors sells everything GM/Chrysler for $217.85 over invoice (+CMA). Obviously that's why they're the largest Truck dealer in the country. If interested check out www.davesmithmotors.com. Small town. Very nice people to work with.
  • bakerb17bakerb17 Member Posts: 17
    tlynn1 and rlholm,

Thanks for the info. I checked out carsatcost and got some good info. Hopefully now my dealer will get the prices from his supplier. Over here in Japan, things tend to move a little slower. Thanks again for all the good info.

I have been working with a dealer who, at first, told me he could get me a great deal (invoice +$100), now he is telling me MSRP - $250. His story is that these are going to be rare and they are all going to go for sticker. Anybody think this is real or am I getting the shaft?
  • hennehenne Member Posts: 407
hey, anybody else gotten a ship date on there dakota quad, i got nov 16, that sounds kinda soon.

jrtapp, most of the people i know of got theirs for no more than 900 over invoice. good luck
  • tlynn1tlynn1 Member Posts: 24
If you will tell him Terry advised you, you can get the Quad in Clearwater, Fl. by contacting
Jeff at SchererJ@riisc. and come injoy the weather. His price is $100 over invoice plus a $500 discount for ordering, (Thats $400 under)

As inviting as a trip from the frozen tundra of MN to sunny FLA is, it probably isn't practical to drive 26+ hours (one way) just to pick up a vehicle.

If anyone knows of another dealer with this type of policy, let me know.

    Thanks for the input.
  • bees1bees1 Member Posts: 16
Is it safe to assume that the prices everyone is giving DO NOT include tax and license? If it does they are unbelievably great! Let's see, driving to Idaho from California...
Anybody who has the chance to buy anti-spin (aka limited slip etc) take it. Works great! I just hope they are shipping it on the 4X2's. My Husband and I are going to try & cut the deal of the year when the Quads come in. We want to buy 2 trucks at once. A Quad for me and a 4X4 Club for him. Do you think we have any multi-truck buyers discount coming our way or am I dreaming?
  • hersbirdhersbird Member Posts: 323
Is the solar yellow really dead? It's not listed as a option on the Dodge websight, but I'm sure I saw a 4x4 2000 clubcab w/ 4.7 in yellow at my local lot. I'm positive it was yellow and just off the truck as it was still covered in plastic, maybe I'm wrong about it being a 2000 but it was just last week and I can't believe they are sill shipping 1999's.
  • hennehenne Member Posts: 407
well i think you are making a wise decision, i now have 4200 miles on mine, everything is the same as yours exept i have the auto 4.7, i have a 5000lb boat and trailor package with fuel and goodies, and my truck pulls it great, its not quite as quick off the line of course but you can feel that 4.7 saying give me more. go for it.

400.00, i went from a blazer without 4 wheel antilock and when it gets wet the tires would lockup sometimes, i got married in nov and bought my new truck in dec, i will not have my new wife in my car without the latest safety and i dont think 400.00 is much especially when your pulling a boat that is going to try and keep pushing you, i could barely stop my boat in the blazer when it was dry much less wetand the boat was right at the blazers tow rating, and by the way most of my towing is only 3 miles.

    good luck,

    robert

tlynn1, When you say $100 over invoice, does invoice include the CMA (Chrysler marketing adjustment)? That approx $400 fee is technically on the invoice along with the $20 junk mail charge and the $520 delivery charge. If your not paying the CMA and getting a $500 ordering discount, that is a very good deal to the point of leaving very little profit. Even with the CMA included it's still a good deal. Where does the $500 discount come from? Dealer holdback? Or do they somehow not have to pay the advertising if the vehicle is ordered.

I am interested in the Dakota Quad Cab (4 door) but my local dealer (south Florida) told me that they're not coming out until December '99. Has anyone seen any at the dealerships?
  • tlynn1tlynn1 Member Posts: 24
rlholm. Advt, was added to invoice. it was fron 435 to 515, havent oersued yet to determine which or why. as to the 500 discount, seems it is part of the hold back and may be offered on an order because no intrest would be charged to the dealer
from dodge (a truck on the lot is money the dealer borrows from the manufacture, as I understand it.)
  • bees1bees1 Member Posts: 16
    Hersbird,
Maybe it was a 2000 but a special order that bombed(if so, somebody had to pay for that!). Solar is not listed as a color in the brochure. At the carpoint website it lists a place for you to special order a color. Looks like it would only be around $500, if it's a color that they currently use but I'm not completely sure. I'd be curious to see if the brochure was printed pre-maturely and Solar Yellow will be available. Thanks for the info. Bees1

Quad cab official launch is mid November. Dealers are taking orders now, but don't expect to see any on forecourts until after November 16th. Depending on backlogs, delays, customer orders etc the dealers may not get them til a couple of weeks after then.

However, I imagine that Dodge will want to get the truck 'out there' so I would expect to see some at the larger dealers fairly quickly after the 16th.

The local dealer here in CR iowa has 1 red quad cab and I drove it. They are not dealing until they get 10 or so on the lot. The trucks are coming though.
  • lmeyer1lmeyer1 Member Posts: 215
tole165, how did it drive? What was the drivetrain, etc., etc.?
  • ferousferous Member Posts: 226
My dealer called this morning and told be that they just unloaded the first Dakota Quad Cab last night. Guess where I'm going after work today? If I can wait till after 5!!!!!
  • kramberrikramberri Member Posts: 5
Does dodge have an official website? I'm trying to locate a site that have pictures and options for the dakota crew cab. My dealer doesn't have any.
  • andy_jordanandy_jordan Member Posts: 764
Do you really need us to tell you how to find Dodge's website?????

    Oh OK then - www.4adodge.com

and maybe this will help next time - www.yahoo.com
  • tgr1tgr1 Member Posts: 92
tlynn1, how do I reach your contact in Clearwater, FL. That deal is too good to pass up-I'm in Florida. Checked 2 dealers in Miami, and best deal was $700 below MSRP-they say they will only be able to order a limited number of Quads. Translation: low supply, high demand = top dollar. Thanks.
  • andy_jordanandy_jordan Member Posts: 764
Anyone near Vegas, take a look at the SEMA show. A company many people may be familiar with ASC is showcasing the Dakota MUV (Multi Use Vehicle) based on the quad cab.

ASC has a website - www.ascglobal.com but they haven't yet updated it with pictures of this truck.

The MUV is an initiative between Dodge and ASC to promote the quad cab and also ASC's line of aftermarket accessories.

Some of the goodies, include electric sunroof, entertainment system, GPS, leather, Borla exhaust, power rear slider, tonneau etc. etc.

I haven't seen the truck, just read about it, but it sounds fantastic.

tlynn1, Would you be so kind to update the information about the Clearwater, Florida, Dodge dealer that you said would sell the Quad for $100.00 over invoice. The e-mail address for Jeff at SchererJ@riisc does not work. How about a phone number and dealer name? Or a working e-mail address? I'm in Orlando and will be headed to Tampa this Saturday and could stop by the dealer and order a Quad. Thanks
  • bakerb17bakerb17 Member Posts: 17
If that dealer in clearwater has a website, could you put that out here too? I'd like to get a quote from these guys. Thanks.

well, my new quad has been built and is supposed to ship and be here before thanksgiving, i cant believe they built it so fast, last time i ordered a car it took over 3 months and it was a car that they had been making for years. well hopefully it will be here and all will be great.

    good luck all,

    keliki,
Are you in Okinawa? That's where I am. If you get a quote from another dealer, you can take it to the AAFES dealer and they will match the price. The dealer in Clearwater, Fl that everyone here is talking about is sending me a quote tomorrow. I'll let everybody know how it goes. Good luck keliki.
