The White F-150 Supercab Flareside that I posted earlier about being "this close" to buying, was also from Texan Ford, but the one in Arlington instead. I would highly recommend their Intranet Sales Department (especially Sharon Baker) as they do exactly as you describe: shoot a reasonable, low price. Sharon was also quick to give me the out-the-door price and it did not include any finance-department junk ("Protection Packages" etc.).

I did not actually buy the truck from her. Instead we opted for a left-over new conversion F-150 Supercab styleside for the wife-preferred paint job and all the extra goodies. It had 50 miles on it, is a beautiful Toreador Red w/Gold lower trim band, has a Ford bedliner, running boards, tinted windows, etc. and came out about $2,000 less (eroded closer to $1,000 after the Finance Department shenanigans). A better deal for us.

Still, in the process of looking, we visited about 4 dealers and I e-mailed (individually) 50 dealers all within 75 miles of DFW. I got about 12 useful replies. Sharon Baker was by far the best price and least BS of any. I wish she had had the truck we wanted; I would have gone out of my way (again! We drove 35 miles to Texan for the test drive) to give her my business. FWIW....

I am considering a flowmaster exhaust. What do you guys recommend? The 40 series or the 50 series. I want is reasonably quite in side the cab at highway speeds. However, I would like the perfomance sound (deep and throaty) at idle and accelleration. Some advise backed by experience will be appreciated.
    thx

I've got a split rear gibson on my 99 F250 light duty also added a superchip and a K&N fipk, truck really hauls and has a nice sound to it.check out www.f150online.com there are a couple of topics on exhaust systems and all sorts of other mods and improvements.

I'd be interested in some posts relative to '97 & up F-150 Supercab 2WD with 4.2L engine, automatic trans., 3.08 axle. I've driven the truck with the V-6 and the V-8 and I agree with some others...not enough difference for me to want the V-8. I'm fixing to buy and the fuel economy is my only concern now.

A friend of mine also has the same problem with the "whining" noise coming from the starter...but his only happens when it is cold outside (i.e. less than 40 degrees F.) He has taken it back about 4 times and have had 3 different starters, but the problem persists. Not sure what the remedy is, I don't think they have really fixed it yet.

I also purchased the Gibson duel side exit. But, its way to quite. Yes it is as they say low and melow and very nice at highway speeds. However, I would like a tad more volume at lower RPM and continue to have a nice moderatly quite highway volume level. I may be picky but I can get a flowmaster installed for 135.00 in my area and probably sell my Gibson for about the same. My problem is I dont want to make the same mistake twice. When you go to the Flowmaster web site they give noise level charts which are real cool but without hearing the sound or hearing from someone who has heard them its hard to distinguish the difference between "deep" or "mellow" or "agressive" sound.
I also have a K&N filter on my 5.4L 355 Stepside white XLT. I'm very happy with my performance. A couple of weeks ago I blew the doors off my neighbors 5.4L expedition. (yeah, I know he weighs more) Your oppinion on chip and its resulting performance is appreciated. I'll probably wait a year or so before buying one. In the mean time I'm looking for improvement in exhaust sound quality with out sacrificing highway ride quality. Maybe a good description of what I'm looking (listening) for is deeper and audible at highway speed but not loud.
    thx

I've got the gibson split dual exhaust out the rear on either side of the trailor hitch,The best bang for the buck is the superchip $230 delivered to your door takes about an hour to install.I've got a 99 F250 xlt 4 door 4x4 light duty w/5.4 and 3.73 gears. The truck hauls and mostly because of the chip and air intake mods, exhaust basically for sound,on wwwf150online.com most guys go with the flowmaster 40 series for the sound.I was even thinking of swapping out my gibson muffler for a flowmaster if possible.

B I went to f150online as you suggested. there is a guy (Tim) there in the discussion group who had exactly the same question as I did. He said he had decided on the FloM 50 SUV. I am going to ask if he is happy with his purchase. You may want to observe as well.
Is the brand of chip you have called 'Superchip' or is that a generic term for all chips? If so, what brand did you get?
    thx,

I have the superchip bought it from Mike Troyer of the superchip topic at F150online,it is definately the best purchase you can make, read about them at F150 online, you could even call Mike he posts his # at that site before you purchase new check out the classifieds at F150 omline, open up your passanger door and look for a sticker with 4 digits a combo of #'s and letters that is your computer code once you find that check the classifieds to see if there's one for you that matches your code.Good luck and keep us posted.

    Hi all,

I have a 2000 F150 Supercab, and I really like the truck. I have had it for four months, and I still don't know what you use the "soft cups only" cup holder on the dash for. Does anyone have an idea? A pop can fits nicely on the right side, but what about the left???

    Thanks

Looking to buy new truck. Is the F150 better than the new silverado?
  • f150rulesf150rules Member Posts: 195
That all depends on who you ask. If you ask me, the F150 beats both GM and Dodge in all catagories, hands down....Ford's Power, Reliability, Looks, Build Quality, Customer Satisfaction are all heads above the other trucks IMHO. Had plenty of them and never any major problems.

Now, ask a GM loyal and you will get the same story from them, only they always like throwing in a jab or two against Fords. Some kind of unwritten, testosterone driven, competition rule or something.

Only reliable source is your own research and driving them all yourself to find your preference. You will only get a mixture of biased opinions and few facts from owners of all three makes.

    Good luck with your choice.

I had the same question about my soft holder until one of my astute passengers noticed that I wasn't pulling the holder out to its full extend. Pull it out till it snaps in place. Then you can fit a cola can, latte, or whatever else you want to place in it without it hitting the dash.

Looking at the F150 Super Crew. Only one problem no lumbar support passenger capt. chair. With two weak backs we need it. Any ideas?
Could the assembly of the driver side be installed in the passenger side?
Could one be installed with the little electric pump?
Is it hard to get the cover off the seat?
If anyone has modified a capt. chair or is familiar with it your help is needed by a couple of "old" bad backs.

    Hemi,

Yes, you pull it out and a can fits great in the hole on the right. The hole on the left is what I am talking about. The one on the left has the lid, and really makes no sense to me.

    See ya

    Steve,

I think the one on the left is your ashtray. At least it is on my crew cab.
