I would assume that has been replaced by now, but if it hasn't I would sure try that next. Sounds like a common oxygen sensor problem. For lots of people, these sensors only last about 45,000 miles - seems to depend on driving conditions, most importantly moisture accumulation. P.S.: I drive Ford trucks up to about 200,000 miles on average and they do really hold up well, but there will be an occasional part that must be replaced.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between a P265 and an LT26 ? I know the P is passenger and the LT light truck but are the treads different on the ones Ford offers or is it just the sidewall thickness??I plan on doing some off-roading(hunting season, etc). Will it make any difference since the LTs are $300 more? I assume most of you just have the 17inch wheels on the 4x4s and the factory P265s. Thanx

After placing an order with my local dealer for a 2000 XL Supercab almost 10 weeks ago, I am still without a truck. I heard Ford was having some problems with the Triton engine...the only thing the dealer will say is that the truck should have been here in 6-8 weeks, beyond that, they know nothing. Does anyone have any ideas, or is this the normal wait for a factory order?

I am trying to buy a supercrew lariat 4x4 in the northern va area. The one I want has all options (including 5.4L engine) except for the bed extender. After hours of negotiating with one dealer they rejected my offer of $31.7K + tax/tags and ridiculous processing fee of $186.00.
Their number was $32.0 +ttf. They let me walk out the door for a $300 difference. My offer was clearly well above invoice, so what gives ? Does anybody have a suggestion as to where to buy in this area at a reasonable price.

I've had a 2000 V-8 5.4 since Nov. and had a vibration at 64 MPH or 2000RPM. I have tried to get this fixed for 5 months. Dealer has tried by replacing motor mounts, re-balancing and rotating wheels, and various diagnostic methods to solve the problem.

Nothing until now! Took vehicle in Thurs, and picked it up today. What did they do? They attached weights to the end of the tailpipe and then ran a support brace and clamped it to the frame placing tension the tubing. When I drove it to test it...IT FIXED IT! I can't tell you all how happy I am. This has been going on for so long. Now, will it hold up? Yeah, I'm gonna think positive. Tonight we go out and celebrate.
What a feeling. Every thing else about this truck is absolutely super.

MY NEIGHBOR HAS A 2000 F-150 EXTENDED CAB WITH A 5.4 V-8 AUTO . THE TRUCK HAS A VIBRATION THAT IS FELT THROUGH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AS THE TRUCK PICKS UP SPEED IT GOES AWAY AS THE TRUCK SHIFTS INTO OVERDRIVE (NO LOAD ON MOTOR) FORD COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM THE FIRST TIME IN. ANY IDEA'S IN THE HALL.

A couple of you asked about Supercrew pricing. This is Ford's second most popular vehicle (right behind the Sport Trac) and therefore, dealers don't want to budge much. If you want a good price, you are probably going to have to order one so the dealer can get their full holdback. For the guy in San Jose, try to email a dealer in Sacramento or Fresno for a better deal.

For the person waiting for the 2000 Supercab, please see the above for your answer. The Supercrews are eating up the production line and your vehicle has less of a markup hence you are looking at 10-12 weeks for delivery

I just ordered a 2000 F150 XLT S-Cab 4x4. Dealer faxed me the DORA today, has the priority code listed as "14" - does anyone know if this is a high or low priority, or what correlation it might have to when the truck will be built??
  • alcat4alcat4 Member Posts: 16
Just looking ordered sport trac in march. I have also been impatiently waiting. Was told by dealer and ford customer(lack of) service that a 10 is the highest priority code after that I don't know. Good luck waiting, seems ford has us by the curly shorts, at least till avalanche comes out.

I got my F-150 supercab 4x4 orp about a month ago. I was wondering if putting an FIPK and a cat back exhaust will void the warranty. If not, which exhaust systems does anyone recommend (Borla, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, etc.) Also, does anyone know how high this truck sits? Keep in mind it is 4x4 with off road package (17" wheels). Any help would be appreciated.
  • tstraubtstraub Member Posts: 25
My F150 ORP should be here in about a month, just curious, what kind of mileage are you getting with the 5.4?
  • wemjrwemjr Member Posts: 2
I am getting dead on 14 mpg with heavy stop and go city driving. I haven't had a chance to take it on the road yet because of this pesky little thing called a job. I plan on trying it off road and on the highway this weekend. I'll post to let you know how it goes.

I finally broke down and traded my 99 Silverado for an F150 Lariat Supercab 4X4. It has all the emenities, including the new 350 lbs torque 5.4l.

I got a great deal and papers are already signed this time so it is a done deal.

    2000 F150 SuperCab 4WD
5.4l, 3:55 LS Diff, Chestnut/Gold w/gold interior, CD Changer, Leather Captains Chairs.

$500 under invoice. Huge Memorial Day Sale Event!

    congratulations on your new truck,
  • dbhulldbhull Member Posts: 150
Thanks Barlitz. I have about 175 miles on it now and it is really starting to show its colors as it wears in. Lots of pull coming from this engine. I don't know how it actually compares to the GM 5.3l. It may just be me being excited about my new truck, but it does seem to have more pull than my 5.3l did now that I have driven further than around the block. I think more than anything, it seems to take less effort to accelerate, etc. I am going extremely easy on it for the first 500 miles, just varying my speeds, not accelerating fast, braking hard, etc.

I have been out on F150online.com. Something a little scary is a few 2000 5.4l owners are saying they have the piston slap. Are they just looking for something not there or possibly have a different noise like lifters or something? Are there reminants of the piston slap carried over?

This truck is smooth as silk. I barely know it is running, even at start up. I am not overly concerned. I have an extended warranty on this bad boy anyway. Probably will never need it, but I have found that overkill is not a bad idea sometimes for peace of mind.

So far, I really like this truck! I already have my pocketbook ready for a Superchip!

A lot of times when you read about something you actually think you have it like the piston slap,I thought I had it but I don't.You will be thoroughly impressed with your truck and if you install a chip forget it we'll never hear from you again.A K&N or an airraid helps a great deal especially with the chip and if you mess with the exhaust, they say the factory exhaust is great so if you'll looking for a mean V8 sound you may just want to change your muffler.I heard that as of 3/99 the slap problem was fixed but if you have any concerns when you get your customer comment card from Ford let them know that you've read about some problems with the piston slap I did and about 3 weeks later they called me and assured me I would have no problems and if I did they would be resolved immediately. Good Luck and have fun and keep us posted.

Hi there, new to the town hall. I have a new Super Crew on order expecting it in the next couple weeks. I have already gotten the Stull Billet grill for it and the bug deflector. I want to order wheels and tires for it, but I need a recomendation on size. I know a 33" tall tire will fit, but what about tire width (I don't want to put any flairs on it, just what it comes with) and wheel offset? The truck is a 4x4. There seems to be so many of thses already that I have to make mine stand out. Thanks for any information

I just picked my new supercrew and it is a beauty. It is a lariat 4x4, amazon green , loaded except for the moonroof, vcr, and engine heater(don't need one in S.Calif). So far I have only put on 70 miles(distance to dealer). The technology is unbelievable compared to my previous vehicle, an 84 Bronco 2 4x4, which I have kept since it is in great shape and I can't get much for it.
My only little concern is that because it is a lariat 4x4 and is also two tone,it has alot of decals on it. They look nice but I don't know how durable they are. Do any of you guys have any comments. My old Bronco does have decalled pinstripping which is still OK, but I would appreciate some imput from recent F150 owners. If I am going to remove them, now is the time , before the sun gets to the paint.
I will get back to everyone regarding mileage as soon as I put on enough to tell. Oh, I was able to park it in my garage which was much appreciated by the wife and our home owners association.

Any mechanics out there? My 2000 F150 make a nasty noise some times (once a week) when you try and start it - sounds like when you have your car started and accidently turn the key again. I took it in and they replaced the started but it is still doing it at the same rate. Various folks have said might be some teeth missing from the fly-wheel or the solenoid. When I talk with the service reps. I don't get a warm fuzzy about them being able to isolate the problem. I don't want to just drop it off and say try to figure it out - especially since they put a scratch and a dent in my car last try! I guess I want to get them to replace the next most likely part that could be the problem. Any help out there is much appreciated!!

I have an F-150 Lariat 4x4 Off-Road with a 5.4L engine. I love the handling and power of the truck, but the leather seats are not comfortable. I wonder if anyone else has the same complaint and what they have done to remedy it. I have the 60/40 split bench, and the driver's seat has virtually no support on the left side. This is very annoying, especially during a right turn. It even feels like I am always fighting to stay level. I have even considered getting rid of the truck because it is not comfortable. Does anyone have the same leather seats, and can anything be done. I asked the dealer about ordering bucket seats, but they said they are not available except as separate parts (very expensive).
Thanks in advance for your input.
  • seacrowseacrow Member Posts: 22
I have a 99 F-150 with the 60/40 split bench seat and I absolutely can't stand that seat. It is driving me crazy and I have already broken the plastic trim on the side twice. I have an XLT which is the same seat as yours but in cloth. I have searched for about a year for replacement buckets (captains chairs) like my 98 F-150 had. I loved those seats. My step-fathers 99 Lariat with captians chairs is very comfortable. It is impossible to find replacement seats and the dealer is correct in telling you that they are available as seperate parts. I was quoted well over 2K for the parts and the console. I would have to put them together like a jigsaw puzzle. I am gonna tough it out for a little while longer and get rid of the truck. The problem is, other than that stupid seat, the truck is a gem. I love the way it looks, drives and handles. Good Luck

I have a 2000 F150 Supercab XLT, 5.4 w/cloth captains chairs. I traded in a 98 F150 Supercab with captains chairs. Let me tell you that the 98' seats were far more comfortable than the 2000. The new seats are soft and the foam they are using is so soft it cuts off circulation at the back of the knees and offers no support. I have asked the dealer for some assistance and they told me to go to a private upholsterer and deal with them (Thanks alot). So to make a long story short don't get the Captains chairs they cause grief too.

Sorry, but this may be a dumb question for some of you. I am about to order a F150 Lariat SuperCab and my question is about the height of the truck. I would like mine to ride a little high but what is the best way to do this? The truck will have 17" wheels. Also, if I order the factory cab steps, can they be removed or are they permanant? Thanks for your help.
  • nikkelnikkel Member Posts: 2
I have a `99 Lariat ext. cab with the OFP. It is tall! In fact, I am seriously considering getting rid of it because it is so tall. My radio antenna hits the garage door as I drive in, I did not realize when I bought it how tall it really is. I have a bad back, and I don't relish trying to get in when it is strained. Also, check out the leather 60/40 split seat. I find the lack of support of the left side very uncomfortable.

    good luck
  • tstraubtstraub Member Posts: 25
showed up Monday, I picked it up yesterday. So far, so good, very nice truck. It's a supercab w/ the off-road package and most of the toys. Am curious to see what kind of mileage it'll get, I'm sure it will be pretty dismal for the first few thousand miles. I've scheduled the first oil change at about 1500 miles.

Finally took delivery of my 2000 XL 4x4 SuperCab, and was wondering if anyone else who has the same equipment (with a tach) could tell me what the engine is turning at 65-70 mph:
    4.6L engine
5 speed manual with 3.55 rearend (not limited slip)
    P255 70R 16" Goodyears

Fuel mileage on first couple of tanks has been around 18-19mpg, mostly highway miles, but I was wondering what the motor is actually turning at highway speeds. Thanks.

could i find out whick engine you got and how much youy paid for this truck. i am in the market for the 5.4 engine
  • modvptnlmodvptnl Member Posts: 1,352
I ran your question through the calculator at the Corral site. I had to use a 5 speed o/d but the o/d should be very close. At 65 mph I got back 1754 rpm's.
  • tstraubtstraub Member Posts: 25
I got the 5.4, with the off-road pacakge, towing package, etc. Paid $199 over invoice.

I have a 97 f150 off road supercab with a 4.6l engine, auto, 3.55 limited slip trans. i plan to pull a 26 foot trailer weighing about 7000 lbs.
the truck is rated for 6600 lbs. anyone have a similar situation? is it too much to expect from this truck? i am considering trading for 2000
truck with the 5.4l engine. any advice.
  • seacrowseacrow Member Posts: 22
I recently towed a car hauler trailer with a 71 GMC Pickup on board. Total weight was around 6700 pounds. I had no trouble with it at all. I turned OD off and got around 12.9 mpg at 60-65 MPH. Could have gone much faster if the load was more stable. Mine is a 99 F-150 XLT 4.6 2WD auto SuperCab. It has 3.55 rear gear ratio. I think you would be OK. If you have the tow package and take it easy.
  • kcowboykcowboy Member Posts: 33
To taltexanna, I had the same type problem with my 86 Ford F150. It was sluggish every time I punched it but ran good during normal speed. I tuned it up changed the fuel pump and changed what I thought was the only fuel filter on it. Bye the way the owners manual didn't mention a 2nd filter, but if you have dual tanks like I do then there is a 2nd filter. Its located right under the selector valve for those tanks, actually its part of that valve but screws off at the base. I bet the filter you have is filthy, change it and it will run great, mine did. Let me know if it works for you.

look I am a contractor and sold my silverado last week. I ordered a supercrew because it fits the bill to a tee. The supercrew has a 5.5' bed and when the tailgate is down it's 7.5' which will acomodate a sheet of plywood with a 1/2' overhang, BIG DEAL! the advantage is, I can carry my framing crew with me to lunch and job site without having a milllion inch wheelbase truck which can't make most u turns or park where I need to.Payload can be increased by beefing up the suspention for a small amount. This is the answer for contractors too. A lumber rack fills all the same needs as any truck on the road so whats the beef? I can now carry 6 passengers comfortably in leather with a moonroof and look like the boss needs to look! A definate "stand out in the croud of silverados on most job sites" I hope it comes in as I ordered it, Loaded Lariat with 4.6 and a sunr4oof in white, NO 2 Tone. Trust me the 2 tone is pretty hoaky! I have heard nothing but bad reviews on the seats, I hope it's not true but we'll see. keep on down the road dudes!!!!

    Hey!
I plan to buy a 2001 F150 SuperCrew Lariat within the next few months. Have you guys been able to order these at or around the invoice price? Also, do any of you know if there is a camper shell available for this model?
    Thanks!

I bought my 2001 lariat supercrew 4X4 loaded for $100 over invoice. I asked my credit union for a referral and found a dealer that sold it to me thru their fleet manager. Another dealer wouldn't give me a penny off of sticker!!My advice is shop around, they will deal. In regards to the shell, I am not sure but I would try Snugtop. I just ordered a hard tonneau from them (Snuglid) and they said they can get it to me in 2 weeks. Give them a call. They are in Long Beach, Ca. Good luck

am interested in buying the same truck as you did, but am curious which dealer gave you the good deals. What figure did you come up with for invoice?

I understand Ford is ONLY making F-150s that
qualify as Low Emission Vehicles. Is this true or
can you order a new model without this
configuration? I know what this MAY mean for the
ozone, but what does it do to the truck's power,
gas mileage, resale value, etc? Is this a really big deal or is Ford only meeting the minimum requirements for this label with minimum effects (if any) on performance? Would this be a reason NOT to buy a new F-150??

I've had mine since Memorial day. Ordered it through Texan Ford in Katy, Texas for $100.00 over dealers invoice. Mine came with the moon roof, bed extender, and class 3 towing pkg. I was given a 6-8 week delivery when I ordered mine and got it in 5 weeks. If your in the market for this truck, I highly recommend you order it through the fleet department of a high volume dealer. This truck is great!

I would appreciate hearing from anyone that has this vehicle and has experienced any problems.

I've already seen this model truck for sale in the "Want Ads" with low low mileage. Doesn't exactly give you the warm & fuzzies.

    Any feedback appreciated.

tabassco,,I am about to order a 2001 reg cab XLT and would like to get it soon as possible, like you did.Could you tell me how you approached the dealership to order thru the fleet dept as you did? Do you think fleet dept orders get delivered sooner? Thanks.....
  • tabasscotabassco Member Posts: 4
Actually for me it turned to be a fluke of sorts. I went in thru the Ford website and asked for a quote thru Texan Ford. The salesman was in the fleet department. However, my credit union has established relationships with a bunch of car dealers in the Houston area and all the sales contacts are in the fleet department. As far as I know, anyone can approach the fleet department. Most of these guys in Fleet are not on commission. They don't haggle too much. They'll show you invoice and they'll tell what they'll sell over invoice. In my opinion, you come out ahead when you order. The dealer gets his from the holdback by Ford and you save money off the MSRP.

The main reason I think my truck got delivered so quickly is because my dealer is a huge volume dealer. A friend of mine ordered an F250 Diesel Crew Cab 2 months before me and he finally got his a month after me. Total time was 15 weeks. He went through a dealer that was located in a small town of less than 2500. But he got a great price on his truck.

Depending on your geographical area, go to a large volume dealer. I believe they have priority on deliveries because their bigger customers to Ford and given bigger order allotments. The above has been my experience. Let me know how things work out for ya. Good luck.
  • anonymousanonymous Member Posts: 314
Tabassco,,thnx for that info. I'm guessing now that if there are 2 orders with priority code 10, 1 from a smaller and 1 from a larger dealer, the latter delivers earlier. ????? znstr
