I have 550 New VWs in stock, but not one available V8 with Premium Plus...each one has been sold before it arrived, and they were all built to order...
I rode in the BMW today -- it was quite nice and very car like. The engine under some medium acceleration did not sound as nice as my 2.7T V6 Audi and I can tell you that my 4.2V8 had great sounds, as, apparently, does the T-Reg V8.
I would love to get into a new Passat or maybe a 1.8t Jetta, I guess it all depends on prices.
Thanks for your feedback!!
I have been offered $750 over invoice, but what invoice? The one that was shown to me had and extra S.C.V.D.A. for $200 and flooring reserve for $142. That puts the car at $42,632. That is realy $1092 over invoice.
As for the lease, the dealer wants to put some ACQ fee of $575 on the front end with the $45 Doc fee in the Cap cost. This means an additional $18.46 per month in someone elses pocket over three years, and what is ACQ fee. In addition he wants a $750 Security deposit when I have a FICO score of over 800. O-Yes, one more thing, he is adding a $211.96 for Lux Tax Up front? I thought Lux tax was gone by now.
Looking for another dealer in southern California?
Any help on the numbers I have posted and ACQ fee SCVDA or lux tax info would be helpful
Thank You
And there is really no way to predict what programs will be available a year from now...All we can do is hope that your logic is correct...
So all of those numbers are correct and, with that one exception, apply to every VW for every Dealer Coast to Coast...
The $575.00 is Volkswagen Credit's Acquisition Fee...EVERY bank has one...Chase, Wells, Bank One, Bank of the West...they all have acquisition fees...
Security Deposit for a First Time VCI Lessee is the Monthly Payment, rounded to the next $25.00 increment, but maybe waived by adding .00015 to the Factor...Your Score is reflected in your Factor...Tier 1 and changes with Term.
On the other hand...The $211.96 for Lux Tax has me stumped...

I have posted here for years, and I do not BS. You are looking to buy the C&D Lux SUV of the Year AND the MOTOR TREND SUV for 2004...You want to dip into Holdback; buy another brand...A Durango maybe...Dealers here in Monterey Co. sold 14 Dodges in October...We do that on a Saturday...
If I was buying the car for cash it would be much easier than a lease.
I feel there are to many ways to pad the monthly payment in the dealers favor when leasing.
I will try and find that elusive straight forward and Honest dealer in southern cal.
Thanks again
One good thing...The new VCI Lease form has been redesigned and MUCH simpler to read...
Good luck...
I own a 01 Passat Wagon, GLX W/4 Motion under the owner's choice program. My balloon payment is due in May of 04 and I am either going to keep it and wait for an 05 Passat Wagon or I would purchase a V6 Touareg under the Owner's Choice program. The Owner's Choice program is better for me as an IL resident. Under a lease, IL sales tax laws would tax me on both the purchase price and the residual value if I purchased the vehicle outright at the end of the lease.
My questions: Does anyone have the residual values and/or factors VW Credit has for the Touareg under the Owner's Choice program for 24/36/48 months? Also, I am concerned about the V6 being under powered, but would prefer not to spend the extra cash for a V8, comments anyone.
Thanks to all.
I have found that the dealer's get to a "number" -- or CAP COST, no matter what buy, finance or lease. As long as you are happy with the cap cost and the method of payment is YOUR choice, I find I can sit beside the sales rep and enter the numbers into their lease-alator program and make a change or two here and there and come up with the number that I trust and that I can afford or am willing to pay.
The dealers some of y'all must deal with must really be slimy to read some of these posts.
Now, if VWGUILD is an Internet Only rep, I would assume that we could "all" buy from him, if we felt uncomfortable buying from our "local" dealer.
As I noted, my friend used to deliver cars for dealers all over the US -- and he always flatbedded them so as not to put miles on them, of course.
If you are in Cincinnati and want to buy from a non-slimy dealer, well I know for certain of one (at least) that qualifies as slime free and of high integrity (kinda rhymes doesn't it?).
Vote with your dollars -- don't vote for the slimy guys.
Did you notice the update bulletin in the back of the owner's book telling you to hold the transmitter towards the front of the windshield above the mirror which is where the transmitter emitter is located?
I am not certain, but there are caveats in the literature about the system working with all door opener models. My opener is circa 1990...
I have encoded two buttons for two different garage doors - I rather like the feature, which also relies on a good antenna at the garage door opener to work well.
Keep trying!
Basically, what you need to do is hold your current opener close to the wind shield, behind the rear view mirror, and NOT in front of the HomeLink buttons...Try it...
Anyone else had this problem resolved??
I went to a local dealer a couple of months ago. The SUV was there but with many problems. First off the trunk would not open! Did you know that unless the battery is OK, you can't even open the trunk manually? It gets locked and closed.
Forget anything else, if your battery runs down, you can't even open the trunk to take out your emergency equipment.
I had to go to a Toyota last week and test drove the Land Cruiser. It may be long in the tooth, but is very smooth. The Navigation is excellent and the rear camera alone is worth all the extra money (and as a bonus, it runs on regular gas).
Range Rover out as well...Gross Tongue Weight there is 550#s.
Both of these vehicles are more center weighted and handle speed very well, as opposed to your conventional 2500 Pick Up truck that carries most of it's weight up front...and hence will allow for more tongue weight capacity...

Or, better still, call a dealer and see what he/she has to say on this subject.
Mine has street names and, as noted, is very accurate. Trouble is, my system requires 9 CD's -- of the 9 that come with the car, in my case, I've only ever used 2, and almost always only use 1 -- for distances greater than 250 miles, I generally fly so changing a CD is not that much of an issue -- I mean even a CD covers a lot of geography.
My friend with a Mercedes and the Nav CD system has the system that occupies a slot above the radio, and be puts his music CD's in a changer that is located in the trunk -- perhaps, just perhaps that is what VW has chosen to do.
Assuming the maps on CDs are of similar orgin (VW and Audi, I would hope so) the coverage is impressive -- but not 100%.
I wouldn't be without it now.

Does the V6 have enough power to be fun and not struggle up the mountains (real mts like rockies, cascades, etc).
Is the NAV worth it?
What are the Pro's and Con's of the V8, V6 and NAV?
Thanks for any input!
I've been a subscriber to 4-Wheel & Off-Road for a number of years, and I've found a distinct bias on their part against any SUV and/or truck with fully independent suspensions. In short, they HATE 'em.
Now the IFS/IRS-equipped Touareg has won their hearts. Amazing...

10 new four-wheel-drive pickup trucks and SUVs were tested: The Nissan Titan, Chevrolet Colorado, Ford F-150, Toyota Tundra Double Cab, Isuzu Ascender, Isuzu Axiom, Nissan Pathfinder Armada, Dodge Durango and Lexus GX470 plus the T-reg.
Doug McColloch said: "The Touareg redefines the luxury SUV segment....It was a runaway winner in my book."
The T-reg easily won the Mechanical, Interior and Exterior categories. It was a week-long test that contained tons of offroad stuff and some onroad segments.
Rest of the press release cites well-known facts and more laudatory stuff, not nec to repeat here.
The issue goes on sale on 12/28/03
As to the NAV itself...this is a very subjective call...If you are coming to this from a Japanese product; it will probably not knock your socks off. It is not a "touch screen", the maps do not show street names, although the street that you are on is clearly displayed in the MFI screen...NavTech supplies a manual that is almost 50 pages long and there are certainly a ton of possibilities that, quite frankly, I have not had the time to explore.
But, I must confess, I am not the best one to ask...First of all, my primary client base is far more interested in performance than maps...And, being in my fifties, I have never really been the least bit interested in having a NAV System...never really needed one...The USMC spent considerable time and money teaching me and other Officers at Quantico how to read a map.
However; last Saturday I took a Phaeton to a Wine Tasting about an hour away, and just for fun we put in our DESTINATION, and it worked fine...Recognized our position and pleasantly directed us where to turn, and lo & behold, there
we were...Which reminds me...at the speeds we were travelling I don't think it would have been a good idea to be reading street names anyway...:)
