  • run2w8srun2w8s Member Posts: 4
Has the 6 cd changer/cruise control package VV, the 5-peice floor mats, door sill enhancement, all weather package. Looking for feedback. $14376 includes the $65 admin fee and one free oil change. (also free car washes whenever the salesman is working)

One thing that seems consistent in St. Louis is that the dealer invoice on Edmunds is lower than the Stealers say. There invoices include Whsl. Financial Reserve .....................: $ 156.00 and sometimes they quote TDA

Are they scamming me on the invoice price?
  • theophanestheophanes Member Posts: 4
Seems like a great price to me. I would buy it immediately.

I am looking for a new toyota corolla. I need Anti Lock Brakes and Side Curtain Airbags. I wanted a Manual at first. But I was told that the Side Curtain Air Bags do not come with Manuals??? Is this correct?

If you don't mind, evaluate this quote I got and tell me whats wrong with it:

    Invoice: $14,855.00

    Optional Equip:

    -Side Airbags 563.00

    -Anti Lock Brakes 258.00

    -Audio Value Pack 180.00

    40.15 SOUTHEAST TOYOTA DISTRIBUTOR

    93.50 CARPET MATS

    22.41 6 GALLONS OF GAS

    22.54 FUEL CHARGE

451.00 SOUTH EAST TOYOTA ADMINISTRATIVE FEE

715.00 DELIVERY PROCESSING AND HANDLING FEE

    $17,200.60 TOTAL AMOUNT $
    516.02 3% SALES TAX

    399.00 TITLE & DOCUMENTATION FEE.

    69.00 N.C. LICENSE FEE.

    $18,184.62 TOTAL

    $- 1.000.00 MINUS A $1,000.00 REBATE.

    $17,184.62

Then some how the OTD price got up to 17,647... Final Offer!

They said they had to go find the car or somthin like that...

I don't think thats a deal... do you?

    thanks,

Not only is that price too high, you can get side bags with a 5 speed.

See my earlier post about the deal I got in Maryland.

Here's a breakdown of what I paid for my CE automatic. It looks like from other posts, people in other parts of the country were able to get better deals, but after negotiating with 7 dealerships in the DFW area, this was the best I could do:

2008 Corolla CE automatic 4 door with power package, cruise control, keyless entry, floor mats and trunk mat, vehicle shield package and tinted windows:

    $14,300- Price (includes rebate)
$3,000- Trade in voucher from Air Check Texas
    $706.25- Sales Tax
    $30.54- Dealer Tax
    $50- Doc Fee
    $5- Dep. Fee
    $60.80- Reg. Fee
    $33- Title Fee
    $10- County Road and Bridges
    $23.75- Inspection Fee

$12,219.34- TOTAL Out the Door Price

Without the Trade-in voucher I think my Out the Door Price would've been around $15,400. Hope I got a decent deal!

This is actually very useful and well laid-out information, thank you for this post. However, I'm curious: why would you refuse the warranty on a new car??
  • irismgirismg Member Posts: 345
This is why Oklahomans have been going south to Texas to get their cars! Could you explain how a "trade-in voucher" works, please?
  • prism3prism3 Member Posts: 4
I test drove a 2009 corolla LE yesterday in Spokane, WA
    MSRP fully loaded is 18509.00
I didn't even sit down and talk price with them as they don't have the color I want yet and there is no way to check any numbers yet on any of the car buying websites.
  • stacidallasstacidallas Member Posts: 15
Are the Corollas more expensive in Oklahoma? What kinds of prices are you getting?

The trade-in voucher is part of a new program the State of Texas instituted just a few months ago to encourage people to get their old, polluting cars off the road. In order to receive the voucher, your car has to be registered in the state of Texas for at least a year, you have to meet certain income requirements and your car has to be at least 10 yrs. old. Below is the website with all the info.

    http://www.tceq.state.tx.us/implementation/air/mobilesource/vim/driveclean.html

So basically, the voucher becomes the trade-in value for the car regardless of it's book value. Our voucher was for my husband's 1998 Toyota Corolla and according to our salesman it would've been worth $2,000 on a trade-in....though I DOUBT seriously that they would've paid us that much for the car...maybe $1,500 if we were lucky. But if we use their number, we basically got an additional $1,000 from the state of Texas for our car. Thank you Texas!

The dealership then takes the car, strips it for anything that's worth money (stereo, tires, etc.) and then the rest of junked.
  • irismgirismg Member Posts: 345
WOW what a great program, although a little sad at the idea of a 98 Corolla being junked (that's exactly what I drive.) My car wouldn't qualify, then. But from an environmental standpoint, I LOVE the premise of it!

Since you have to be a Texan to take advantage of the voucher, let's just say the purchase price was around $15K. That's still good.

Um as far as prices go, I just came from Bob Howard Toyota in Edmond, Oklahoma (Sunday's a good day to go and not be hassled) and they only have an '09 LE on display for the ridiculous price of $18.5K. Mind you, the dealer put his "Extra Mile" crap on it, and I think they're doing that for all of the new ones. The few 2008s I saw had $16.5k for CE to $17.8K for the S. All were automatics, and only a few basic colors available. I'm thinking what the guy in Seattle is finding is fairly normal.

(And get this, the '09 LE they had on display didn't even have the fakewood trim! It looked for all intents like a CE - it was black, so the mirrors and window trim would have been body color regardless.)

I am in the market for either a

Can someone post what deals they got for these models, dealership etc.. in NJ.
Does anyone know of another site which also posts prices paid?

You can find invoice pricing on the 2009 Corolla at cars.com
  • c4uc4u Member Posts: 3
prism3 you rock. Thank you for the info.

For an 2009 LE w/ keyless entry (KE) invoice is 15, 923 which includes destination, but does not include title & reg, tax or document fees. Are there any other fees I will have to pay? Has anyone been successful at getting this at invoice or below?

    Hi,

What should you do when your happy with the price and are at a dealership far from home to make sure you don't get screwed or get a lemon.

Is it a good idea to take it to a local mechanic? I mean this is a brand new toyota corolla, I would not think anything would be wrong with it, but who knows.

In this case I already have a bank that has already approved me for a loan, why should I fill out a loan app??, which they requested me to do... I don't want the credit hit on my report, nor do I need other financing offers because I've already done the math.

What if you get to the distant dealership and somthing is awry with the car... like ummm say it has 269 miles on it... don't know why it would, but say it did... what do you do then?

    Thanks guys,

    Devils Advocate

I just bought an 09 LE today. It had Cruise Control, 6 CD Changer (EV), All weather guard package, sunroof, VSC, and floor mats. MSRP $19,534 (for a Corolla!), I paid $18,374.

We’re looking for the best deal on a Corolla CE automatic with few (if any) options. Color preferences: black, grey, or silver.

I’ve heard there are often President’s Day sales but haven’t seen any ads yet. Noticed that all the 2009 Corolla are out and a dealer told us they’d be looking to move the 2008s fast but still haven’t seen any great deals.

I know about the $1000 cash back incentive valid until 3/3/08.

We’re willing to travel to outlying areas but I can’t tell if it makes any difference.

    Thanks.

I am a careful buyer but taking a NEW car for an inspection is overkill. If there is a problem with the vehicle and you notice it before purchase, you ask the dealer to fix it. If you discover it 500 miles later, you bring it back for correction.

If you buy USED from a Toyota dealership, even "certified", you take it to an independent mechanic.

Hello fellow Toyota owners. I just bought a 2008 Corolla CE that has power window, door locks and all weather heater. This is the first time I have ever bought a new Toyota but this is not my first time to talk to someone on the edmunds forum. Believe it or not my other car is a 2007 Corvette C6. So far my wife and I love this little car and love the fuel mileage. We got the car for $13988 plus ttl. I haven`t seen any of the new 2009 Corollas and I may wish I have waited but the new car would have to be alot better for me to wish that I had waited.
  • c4uc4u Member Posts: 3
I ran the specs provided on cars.com (which includes destination) and got these #s:
    MSRP=$18,840 Invoice=$16,959 Actual Paid=$18,374.

Was 18,374 your out the door price?Where did you buy the car and how many did the have? Sounds kinda high, but since it is new model might be OK.

I live in NJ and been scouting around to different dealerships websites, but most only list 5 x 2009 corollas in stock and they don't seem to be offering $1000 off of either 2009 or 2008 corollas.

If any one can recommend a dealership and sales person, let me know thanks.

On a 2009 corolla LE what price should we be shooting for?

MSRP on my purchase, including destination was $19,539, don't know what invoice was, but I paid $18,374.

Good news for southern California buyers. After many days of phone calls to many Toyota dealers, only one is allowing exact invoice pricing on the new 2009 Corollas and Matrixs. It is at Manhattan Beach Toyota. Ask for the internet director manager. Save $2,000 off from MSRP right now. Good luck.

I LIVE IN THE CENTRAL VALLEY OF CALIFORNIA, AND PURCHASED TWO TOYOTAS FROM LONGO TOYOTA. I TALKED TO 15 DIFFERENT DEALERS FROM SAN FRANCISCO- LA, AND LONGO BEAT THE PANTS OFF THEM ALL BY THOUSANDS ON MY 07 CAMRY SE V6 LOADED,$ 24.3K OUT THE DOOR, GOT THE TOP 100K WARANTY FOR HALF WHAT OTHER DEALERS QUOTED, $1000, AND IT WAS WAITING FOR MY WIFE ON HER BIRTHDAY WITH A BIG RED BOW ON TOP OF IT. REMEMBER LONGO DOES NOT CHARGE DOCK FEES ON THEIR CARS, SO OTHER DEALERS CANNOT EVEN COME CLOSE ON THE LOWEST PRICE. MY SALES GUY WAS DEAN TAYLOR, AND HE TOOK VERY GOOD CARE OF US AFTER DRIVING 265 MILES TO GET OUR CAR. GOOD LUCK!. JOHN

    Hi all,

I read a lot of valuable information on these forums so I just wanted to share my purchasing experience in brief.

I went thru several hundred pages of advice on a forum on fatwallet, another forum on slickdeals, carbuyingtips.com and this forum at edmunds.com. After that I gathered a list of about 30 dealers in the NY area and sent them emails requesting a quote (OTD price) for the following vehicle configuration:

    2008 Toyota Corolla LE Automatic
    BE ( Side Airbags)
VV ( Audio Value Package )
AB ( Anti Lock Breaks )
CF ( Floor mats and trunk mats)
    FE ( 50 state emissions )
CK ( All weather guard )
Exterior color ( Indigo Ink Pearl)
    Interior color ( Stone )
    Keyless entry

After several long email exchanges with about 20 dealers I received about 11 quotes. The lowest quote was in New Jersey (Hudson Toyota - $16700). I chose the next highest one, DCH Toyota City - $17000. I am glad I did. The process went very smoothly after that. We went to introduce ourselves on the weekend and provide registration/title information. The next weekend we handed them the check and picked up the car. The registration arrived in the mail in about 20 days and the Title arrived in 45 days. We are very happy with the purchase and the experience at DCH Toyota City. This was an all cash deal with no trade-in and we didn't buy any of the optional warranty. Here's the breakup:

    16427 : Vehicle selling price
    1375.76: Sales Tax
    10 : Inspection Fee
    12.50: NY Tire Tax
    45: Dealer optional Fee
    127: License and Title Fee

    less Rebate: 1000

16997: Total Out of The door

    Hope this information helps someone.

    Thanks all

Anyone know what kind of price an 09 corolla XLE with leather will cost? I know i'll have to custom order it because stupid toyota doesnt have leather as a stand alone option.

Which is the best place in DFW to buy a 2008 Corolla CE Automatic with power windows and keyless entry. I have been talking to a lot of dealers lately, but not managed to get the deal that "stacidallas" got. Could you let me know the dealership where i can get the same model for approximately the same price close to 15K.
  • waltchanwaltchan Member Posts: 124
    $16,997 OTD for a 2008? I paid $17,420 for a 2009 Corolla LE. That wasn't a good deal.

LE with Cruise Control, All whether package, 6CD/6 speakers

Bought for 17,000 before tax. I am not sure this is a good deal or not.

I just purchased a 2009 Corolla LE with the following options: Alloy Wheels, VSC, Keyless Entry, and Cruise Control from Fritzmall.com. It is located in Geithersburge, maryland. The msrp price was $18945. I paid $17096. I live in NY. It took me a day to get down and back. I couldn't find one LE with Alloys in all NY and NJ. I finally found one from fritzmall.com.

check them out, they were very nice and very friendly!

    hope this help

hey was thinking on buying a 2006 CE with 56k on it for 9200$, except im leary about the high mileage. any thoughts on this? thanks!
  • bits4brainsbits4brains Member Posts: 11
I wouldn't call 56k "high" mileage. It's a lot for two years on the road, but the car should easily have another 150k unless maintenance has been neglected. That many miles that fast is likely highway use anyway, which should be "easy" miles.
  • mcmanusmcmanus Member Posts: 121
56k miles over two years is what I do. Unless its been used for city deliveries, they should be mostly highway (good) miles. The car is just nicely broken in.

By 56k miles there has been almost no need for routine maintenance, but do carfax, check maintenance history, and ask why the car is being (has been) sold.

I'm looking into buying 2009 XLE AT with VSC + Cruise + All weather package in upstate NY. Anyone knows what is good price for this configuration ? As per consumer report it seems to be $17052 (invoice). Anyone in upstate NY bought one of this ? Also is it worth considering XLE over LE ? What are major differences between two which justifies extra price for XLE ?

A reporter from a large daily newspaper who either just bought or traded-in their smaller vehicle (Nissan Versa, Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit, Toyota Corolla, etc.). If this is you, please respond to ctalati@edmunds.com with your daytime contact information no later than Friday, April 18, 2008.

It seems like other states got better deal than SCA here!! You guys got so great deal!! Franky, I'm not a person good at bargaining, just a big pain when I shop for car...

I'm looking for a blue S or LE with Pw package and cruise control. Could anyone suggest if there is any dealership in LA can make the out of door price at around 18k or below? Also there is no more rebate going on recently, right? Thanks!

    Through him,

Anyone know of a good dealer - or deal - for a 2009 corolla in the San Antonio/Austin area? Just starting to look and have to figure on how much to pay.
  • alamocityalamocity Member Posts: 680
I'd check with either North Park Toyota of Boerne or Cavender Toyota.
  • quantum2quantum2 Member Posts: 1
I don't have a breakdown, but one dealership has offered to sell a base model automatic (no options at all) for about $16,700 + tax, that includes all fees and the $750 rebate. So they probably are claiming to sell it for about $16,000, plus advertising, doc prep, etc. It would roll out for about $17,850 including sales tax. It seems that a lower sales price should be easy to get, but how much lower? I initially thought $300 less than the above would be reasonable, but does that seem to be too much/too little?
  • sandman46sandman46 Member Posts: 1,798
The LE '09 version is basically the same as the '08 CE was, just the next generation. Seems like the XLE has taken over the old LE version. Don't know why they changed this nomenclature after so long. Maybe they want folks to think they're getting more for less. Who knows?
