What kills me is that my first loft is out of level. My dad had given me a bunch of tools when we moved in, all very desirable (including pneumatic nail guns). He also gave me a 4foot level, which was apparently way out of whack. I used the level to line up the support against the back wall, and then also used it to level the main beam in the front of the loft. Clearly, I flipped to different sides of the level for each, because the back of the loft slopes one way, the front the other!! (and neither is right) I built the whole damn loft before noticing. When finished, I stepped back to admire my work and almost bugged my eyeballs out. It's off by 2" over 17 feet, and the combination of the two different slopes front and back is just lovely. I grumble everytime I look at it. You'd never know I was trained as a carpenter by looking at this thing! If anyone notices, I just tell them the house is crooked but the loft is level....

Gee, hope you point the rockets with more precision..... ;-)
Which way is Mars, anyhow???

My ideal house? A 5-car garage with a small loft where I could sleep.
Oh, and a private track out back.

There, all happy now.

Saw the ideal houxse recently. Big house upstairs and parking for ten cars underneath. The guy who owns it is happy!

Looks like the rumors may be true. The all-new Acura RL will have 300HP, AWD, and may be a hybrid!

If that doesn't shake up that luxury market segment, nothing will.
Bob
Honda's will be more car-like, but it's unchartered territory, who knows what will happen with the SUT. As long as they don't have to invest too much, it could be successful.
RL will be interesting to watch. The rear axle needs to get power in a full-size luxury car, otherwise it'll be a niche vehicle at best.

Too little, too late?

Their 4WD needs an overhaul so it doesn't whine annoyingly when cold.

GM also dropped AWD from their vans. Another mistake.
I'm sure Toyota will happily pick up that lost market share...
At least DCX has a spare, even though it's a donut. Sienna has run-flats.

We'll see, it would certainly be better packaged than 3 driveshafts!

I read that the Phaeton is flopping in Europe. It'll probably do the same here. People who can afford a Phaeton are not going to want to shop and deal with VW sales and service.
Ken
I think it looks great, they just overpriced it. VW isn't leaving room for Audi above it, all this is a hang over from Piech's egotistical days at VW.
Among european brands, VW was a big loser last year, among the worst 3 in terms of lost market share.
Did I call it? I've been saying this all along. Sales down with 2 new pricey products? Uh-oh...

While I'm at it, when you say the names of Infinti models to yourself, can't you hear Marvin the Martian's voice? "Oh drat, you've made me very angry, very angry indeed. I shall have to destroy you with my Inifinti QX56 explosive space modulator."
Thank you, I'll be here all week. Don't forget to tip your server.
Ed
Now I'll never look at an Infiniti in the same way again.

I wouldn't have minded giving up some sidewall space in the way back to accommodate a doughnut spare. Or even consider going without (a la Sienna).

Revamps are as follows:
-Repositioning of power control seats
-Design and interior quality and material
-Possible redesign of front seats (extra bolstering)
-Some other goodies to be addressed (most likely the radio).
G35 is where the Altima should be in terms of material quality. You can say that about a lot of Infinitis. Some Nissans are sub-par, IMO. The Z got a couple of upgrades after just a year, too.
Bring Nissan to where Infiniti is, and upgrade Infiniti's materials, that'll do.

So there you have it...the cause of the temp guage rising and the smell (yes I guess it was the antifreeze and the hot engine that I smelled). Funny though, that it only happened on that really cold day. They also filled up the coolant/antifreeze and I got them to do the 6000km service at the same time, although I only have 5000km on it. And Patti, the service manager never heard of the "conditioner coolant", so maybe that's a purely SOA thing?

Bob: read something interesting in C&D - remember how I thought the BMW 6 convertible's rear window shape/position was odd? Well, it turns out that rises and lowers independently from the top. When the top is down, it actually functions as a wind blocker.
Pretty clever. It still makes for an odd looking C-pillar, but I'll concede that it's functional, and therefore worth it.
Also, when we saw it, I didn't realize that the Dodge Sling Shot was a convertible, nor did I realize it was built on the Smart platform. They really, really should have shown it with the top down! Dumb!
