Ody is supposed to get variable cylinder management, or VCM, to improve fuel efficiency. So at least they're offsetting all the mass with technology to actually improve mileage.
I'm just not sure my wife could ever parallel park on of those bad boys. Maybe with a rear view camera. ;-)

Just kiddin'. Looks like the changes are to the MR model only.

I haven't priced Camrys in some time, but these '05 prices seem pretty low, especially compared to Legacy prices. I know, I know... not apples-to-apples, but still...

As the current owner of an '02 Ody, I can tell you that it drives "smaller" than either of my previous mini's ('97 GC or '00 Windstar) by virtue of better suspension, tires, etc., and has a more versatile, yet somewhat sparse (functional, yet cold) interior. That is where a revamp would make the most difference. I really don't care that much about the exterior looks. It is a box on wheels....

Then you check and that's with no ABS, plastic wheel covers, stripped down to the bone, no nothing. ABS wasn't even standard on the supposedly sporty SE, in fact we were not able to find a 5 speed SE with ABS at 3 dealers!
You basically have to spend $19k ($3k in options) to get what I consider a minimum acceptable level of equipment.
And that's still a 4 cylinder, FWD.
Subaru went with side curtains standards, AWD and ABS were already. I don't disagree with their strategy of starting with very solid content.

The current V6 is a little flat at low revs, let's see what their turbo can do. The old MX-6 turbos were quick.

I'm sure I'll be back in full force in a few weeks once I am off the fence. As my car will be 4-8 weeks in coming, leaving the fence has been more of a slide rather than a leap. I only hope I don't collect too many splinters in the process!

Good catch, Loosh. AW has its ups and downs, still the quickest way to get info, especially compared to the monthlies.

Will talk more about it as delivery draws nearer. Hope I get what I ordered, not some compromise vehicle.

Can't believe that the F-XT wasn't mentioned!

I bought the boxed kit from WalMart for $235. It is pretty complete - 16' x 42" round pool (35" water depth), ladder, filter pump, skimmer, cover, etc. I had to add 2 yards of soil to level a spot, and two of us had it up and filled in basically a day. It takes a little under 4k gallons. Add some chemistry, and you are ready to swim. Since then we added a solar cover for $25 (excellent investment - the pool is now holding at around 85' F - just where I like it...), an upgraded ladder (the supplied one is fine for kids, a little under strength for 'full' sized adults), pool toys, etc. You change a washable or disposable filter cartridge every two weeks, skim the bugs occasionall (keeping the cover on when not in use makes this almost unecessary), vacuum the bottom occasionally, check the chemistry with test strips daily and adjust as needed. So far I have had no real problems keeping the water clean.
No, it is not olympic sized, but just fine for relaxing, playing, cooling off after gardening, swimming for the younger kids, etc. You take it down for the winter, reassemble in the spring. I am told that with reasonable care, you can get 3 years out of them. For those of us not really ready to make the investment in a 'real' pool ($2500 - $25000), it offers an opportunity to 'get your feet wet' with an under $400 expenditure.
16 x 42" is medium-large in this product. Rounds start around 10' x 28", and go up to 18' x 48". There is also an oval at 12' x 20' x 48".

I can't imagine a 4Motion with the 2.slow engine. The 1.8T, sure.

named after Ransom E. Olds, founder of Oldsmobile. My grandfather had a REO car 90 or so years ago.
Bob
may be for Europe, and not US? Looks good though!
Also, small blurb on the 9-6x, aka Saabaru2.
Bob
Where's JB? AW says the "runaway popularity of the 300C sedan" is the reason we might see a wagon. I should have made a bet with him!
9-6x, so that's the new name. Guess they are leaving room to keep the 9-7 if it's popular.
