a very nice local cop was also picking up his kid and saw my trouble.
mistake #1, he tried to push from the front with his person right next to the driver front side tires. well i gave it too much gas and threw up a shower of mud. SPLAT #1.
mistake #2, after he cleared his face, wisely moved to the center of the hood and pushed from there. well the tires finally got some grip and i flew out backwards and he flew face first into the mud. SPLAT #2
i felt so sorry for this cop who just shrugged it off and went about his business. well if you are reading this mr policeman, i am very sorry and really appreciated your help and will gladly buy ya a beer anytime.
Reminds me of when I was 12 years old, and got my uncle's '41 Chevy farm truck stuck in a very wet mud hole. Mud hole? Heck no, this was a 40-something year-old cow path, so I will leave to your imagination as to the actual liquid contents of this "mud" bog!
In any event, I got really stuck and two of my uncles got behind the truck to help push me out. Not being too experienced on the technique of getting unstuck, I floored the engine and popped the clutch. After hearing much screaming and cursing, I turned around only to find my uncles to have been completely covered—head-to-toe, in "mud."
Yes, that's one of my fonder childhood memories.

Since Honda rarely shows true concepts, I'd say that's 95% production model.

I agree it doesn't look like the Scout, but it brought back memories of them. I use to see Scouts all over the Midwest and Canada when I worked with a carnival one summer way back when.

Is that a Ford F350 bed on the RXT? Reminds me of how Studebaker sourced Dodge beds when they wanted to make a smoothside version of the Champ (that's the pickup with the Lark front clip for you young folks).
Ed
Yep. Ford and International have long had business ties. The Ford Powerstroke diesel is an International unit.

Ram doesn't do anything for me. It's just, more Ram.
That International - eek!
Nitro is right-size, IMO. Liberty is too small, stubby looking. But the windows look chopped, almost Hummer-esque.
Civic Si is the first Civic to grab my interest since the CRX. Huge improvement over the current Si, which looks like a small minivan.

We haven't been to MD or DE and wanted to get some suggestions. From what I hear about Ocean City, it sounds similar to Myrtle Beach, SC (where I'm from and will also be visting this summer).
How is Fenwick Island and Bethany Beach, DE? Are those a little more laid back? Is the juice pad in DE? :-)
-Dennis
Definitely more laid back, and more family-friendly. Also perhaps more expensive?
Juice's place is in the north end of Ocean City, I believe.
Lewes, DE: nice Cape May-Lewes Ferry ride, smallish beach
Rehoboth, DE: artsy beach, outlets, great tax free shopping, decent sized boardwalk with rides and food
Dewey, DE: party town, college crowd, all-nighters, forget sleeping
Bethany, DE: family beach, very quiet, a few restaurants, small boardwalk with mostly food offerings
Fenwick Island, DE: Ocean City light
Ocean City, MD: North is like Fenwick, South is crowded, has a *huge* boardwalk, crowds, most variety, water slides, mini golf, etc.
If you don't mind crowds, go to Ocean City, it has the most to do.
If you like shopping, try Rehoboth, it's the most interesting, probably. You will find lots of Foresters there, if you know what I mean.
If you want to party, walk to bars, Dewey is it.
Bethany is the quiet beach, and a 20-30 minute drive gets you to any of the other places.
We bought a condo in North Ocean City, but we are 2 blocks from the Mason-Dixon line, so really it's almost Fenwick. Quiet enough, but close to the action. We shop in Bethany, party in Dewey, and take the kids out in OC.

I've been going about 4 times per year for the last, oh, 10 years or so.
And in 2004 I think we went about 10 times! Unfortunately many of those were working weekends.
Let me know when you go, we may be there.

Talk later.... gotta get some work done.

$19,995 including destination
177 HP
5 sp stick
18" wheels
glass rear window
CD player
Hosts - can I post a link to a blog or not?
My concern is weight. They said it'll be a lot bigger than a Miata, almost half way to a Corvette in terms of size. So it might be heavy. 177hp may only be adequate.
Starting price is reasonable, though.

North OC and Fenwick are nice too. I've done North OC the last couple of years in the off season (for $$ reasons)

Honda just announced today new marine outboards.

Anyway, during my short stay I was able to admire the variety of cars here, like I mentioned before. Also forgot to add Fiat, Romeo, Alfa Romeo... It's a bummer they don't have these cars in the US. I did see Hyundai's over here... that was a shocker! Those little mini cars they're trying to bring into the US (i.e. R2's) are a big deal here... everybody and their momma has one - best way to get around I guess.
Well, I haven't had time to do much except visit Piccadely (sp?) Circus, which is like a mini Times Square... pretty cool. I've brushed over your posts as I'm trying to catch up on you guys. DAS advertising needs to come up with something creative to put Subaru on the map against the competition.
Dennis, I'll need to email the guy again and see what happens. He needs some serious insight.
Anyway, see you guys soon.
... and as they say here.... CHEERS!!!

"On the other hand, it is hard to figure why Scion, aimed at the youngest generation buyers, attracts the highest proportion of self-proclaimed independents, 66 percent."
most youths are going to be independent, with democrats and republican following in that order. I am not the least bit shocked to see that 66 percent of young car buyers are unaffiliated with the two party system.

I'm guessing they felt the necessity being that this is a running thread.

I actually find the titles usful. No offense to Juice but I regularly get lost when he is answering something from several posts back and I can't figure out which one was the relevant question. Given that he usually has a relevant comment, it's liking hearing the answer to a good joke, but not knowing the lead in.
cheers
