Hey everyone, I am really interested in purchasing the G35 REAL soon. I've been doing my research but wanted to know how much, if any, did anyone get their G35 under MSRP?? Do they budge any on their price at all? How much wheeling and dealing was allowed on this car?? Would love to know your own personal story in the act of the deal with your car. Thanks!!
  • tpell1tpell1 Member Posts: 18
I got mine last week which I am guessing helped with price. My deal was $34,550 with a $36,125 MSRP so I feel pretty good about it. (Northern New Jersey) Had another offer for a few hundred cheaper but I went with this one to get the dealer closest to my house instead of about 40 miles away. I know I could go to this one anyway but a friend also told me (which the dealer threw in his pitch anyway) that I would get better treatment if I got car at that particular dealership so for a few hundred, it seemed worth it. Who knows the reality of it, but I am happy.

My specs were blue/willow,premium,leather,nav,wood, xenon, winter

Can't wait! P.S. The dealer sent me the manual for the NAV- my God, that's extensive! Has anyone played around enough with theirs and how hard is it to use?
  • sanandtonsanandton Member Posts: 342
I worked very hard to get my G35 at 900 below MSRP. You loose a little bargaining power when there is only 1 car in a 200-250 mile radius equipped like you want it. Most other dealers were offering a "token" 500 dollar discount off MSRP that they planned to recoup with a dealer add on like a "processing" fee.
I too have the Nav. The Navigation book is as thick as the entire owners manual. Just like all other gadgets with extensive booklets, I have been practicing the trial and error method. The useage and layout of the Nav system is very logical and easy to take to.
Oh yea. Does anyone know how often the DVD is updated for these units?

Well after being a Infiniti I30 Leasee for the past 6 years ( 1996 & 1999 ) Infiniti came out witht he G35 at the perfect time. My lease is up in 2 months and I am preping my I30 for turn in. I was ready to buy the I35 and now I am on my way to owning the best car in it's class-THE G35. I have test driven it twice, saw it at the auto show in New Yorkk City, and say the coop version, now that is a car, the FX45 WOW. As you can tell I love my Infiniti, never in the shop the last 6 years, now that is quality. All the people at Nissan have to do, is what Toyota did with Lexus, continue to make great cars and advertise. MAKE THE INFINITI NAME STAND OUT.You have a winner in Infiniti, take some of your Nissan marketing funds and pour it into Infiniti. BMW move over.

I am presently the owner of a 97 Q45. I simply love the car. I dropped my car off for a oil change last week and the dealer handed over the keys to a G35. What a car! This car is fast, luxurious and a pleasure to drive. I purchased my
wife a Acura CL last August. The Acura will be traded before the year is done. G35 here I come.
BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Lexus and Acura watch your back Infiniti is stepping up to the plate and they mean business. I am going to get the G35 coupe and may trade-in my 97 Q for the new M45 is as good as I think it is based on my encounter with the G35.

I lived with the car for two days. Can anyone shed any light on what it's like after sitting in the saddle for over a month?

Mine was 2 weeks old this past Saturday. Funny how it happened- saw one in my rear view mirror on the trip home the Saturday before; picked mine up the next Saturday! It's the Ivory Pearl, which is soooooooo much easier to keep clean than my previous black. Pics at http://www.mywinstonsalem.com/personal/photo_gallery.htm

    Anyone else lovin their white?

My G35 is still going strong. I think that I found a glitch in the auto-locking mechanism, where for the first 2 weeks it locked the doors automatically at around 5 mph and then it simply stopped. According to Infiniti it's not supposed to even have that feature here in Canada. They're still looking into why it even worked for a while.

The car feels solid with no squeaks or rattles at all, superb build quality. I've been surprised to get the initially-estimated 24mpg on the highway and 19mpg with a mixture of highway and city driving. Usually one doesn't get within 10% of the estimated rating.

The automatic transmission has adjusted to my usually sedentary driving style, as I've noticed that it tends to favor a higher gear rather than a spunkier lower one. No problem though, it still really goes when I do tromp on the gas.

Man does this car get a lot of HARD looks! I've never felt so special in a car.

To rjprjp - I seriously considered the base/cloth but ended up buying leather only G35 for around $28,300. Besides the leather, the "Luxury Leather" model has steering wheel stereo controls that the base/cloth does not. It also has a power driver's seat, 17" tires/wheels, and lights for the vanity mirrors. Unless you hate leather or have a limited budget, you'll be happy you spent the extra $$. Also, dealers weren't willing to deal as much on the base cars because there isn't as much profit built into them. I consider myself lucky to have found a rare non-sunroof equipped car but it paid off in another $1,000 savings.

Thanks for your input sjred. I would love to have audio controls on the steering wheel. Power seats would be nice too. The other stuff (like the bigger wheels) doesn't realy matter to me.

I am not a big fan of leather seats. If I purchased the leather model, it would be like I was paying a lot of extra money for the audio controls and power seats.
  • boomer23boomer23 Member Posts: 125
I recommend that you go for the leather model. Besides being easier to find and to deal on, you will use the steering wheel controls constantly. In fact, Nissan didn't flip the main radio controls around from the Japanese right hand drive version, so you'll be reaching over a lot if you get the base model.

Also, you would have to HATE leather to regret getting these leather seats. The leather is soft and very luxurious feeling.

However, if you are "broad of beam", as they say, read some of the recent posts on the main G35 page. Some of the bigger guys find that the power seat controls invade their thighs uncomfortably.
  • rpawlak98rpawlak98 Member Posts: 28
Boomer23 - Thank you for your opinion on the leather vs base model issue.

To me.. sure leather seats look nice but they are cold in the winter and hot in the summer and I would be happier with cloth. I also did not like the power buttons on the seat. I sure will miss those audio controls on the steering wheel though.

I have been wanting to get a TL Type-S for over 3 months now, but after driving the G35, I'm hooked. "Those who bought a TL-S didn't test drive a G35."

Now, i'm doing research as how I can get a good deal and what options I want in my G35. I am from the Washington States and willing to travel to get a good deal. Upon checking out my area and neigboring state (oregon) There is only one dealership in each state. I'm planning to visit my friends in Calif., so I hope more dealerships in Calif. can make the price for G35 more competitive. (Fly down to Calif and drive one home...) Could anyone pls from Washington, Oregon, Calif. post their deals? So far, I think I'd get most of the options except the Nav.

Also, any complication for buying out-of-state vehicles?

    Thanks all.

...one important thing if you were to buy in California. You may be responsible for California AND your local state taxes. If so, come here to Arizona to buy.
  • peaceofmindapapeaceofmindapa Member Posts: 9
Hello all. Do not know how many of you are willing to travel and how far but if you are remotely close to Knoxville, TN, I was at 'Harper Infinity' here and there were at least 15 G35's there. All that I saw had leather. As far as other options- they varied greatly. I saw prices from right over 30G up to 36G. Most of them were white, black and silver. One I know was the dark blue and one an off greenish color (excuse me for not calling them by their specific colors) and all that I sawe had a sunroof. Thought I would pass this on. As far as prices, I (or should I say my girlfriend) won't need one for about 3-4 months (lease is ending) and the dealership is closed on Sunday so I can't help you there...sorry. I priced them on KBB and here at Edmunds and there is about 3 grand +/- average in markup plus the 3% holdback which makes it about 4,000 all together. $2000.00 off would cover all the taxes around here so I would be happy with that with them being new and all. We can always pray for an incentive or rebate (yeah right)LOL. My girlfriend knows Mr. Harper and is going to ask to take one home for the night. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH BOY (fingers crossed-can I drive-can I-can I-can I-pleaseeee??????)
The great news is she can get a new G35 for less than a preowned BMW which is what she had her eyes on. Sorry, but personally if they were they same price I would still take the G35. To each their own but for me this car is fine. I deal with cars for a living and I did not realize how good the Infinity warranty is either. LOOKS-POWER-HANDLING-OPTIONS-WARRANTY-and so far NO ADM (additional dealer markup). This car has it all. That makes me laugh so hard because when the 'new' Altima came out around here they were tacking on (or attempting to tack on) 2 Grand ADM. That would make a loaded Altima just a hair less than a nicely equipped G35. Hate to be the person that bought that Altima right now. Well Good luck all. Maybe you'll see me running down the road in one soon (I'll probably be in the passenger seat) :-( ....Ken

The only reason I was thinking Calif. is a few of my friends live there, so I can make a vacation/car buying trip down there. I will do my fax attack once I get all the numbers worked out. How many dealerships are there in Arizona? I probably should check it on the infiniti website. I'm think $500 to $1000 over invoice is reasonable, knowing how hot the car is...or I can always wait for a few months...I notice that as soon as I buy the car, it will go down in value, there is no need to accelerate that by paying more now...hehe

Before I go to different State to buy a car, I will definitely check out all the ins/outs. I know that Oregon State has no sales tax, so I will only have to pay the sales tax when I bring it back to Washington State...Is it like that in Arizona? Thx.

    Anita
  • carnaughtcarnaught Member Posts: 3,582
..that if you buy in Arizona, you only pay your state tax. There are four Infiniti dealers in the state. Unfortunately all three in the Phoenix metro area are owned by the same company. They are quite big, however, in terms of their volume. I don't know about Infiniti of Tucson. Happy hunting :>).
  • anitafaginaanitafagina Member Posts: 22
Thx for the info. I will include Phoenix in my fax attack list. BTW, how do I figure out the invoice price...it seems that all of the options only have the retail price on them.

Just as a FYI, Infiniti only has a 1% holdback...

Has anyone noticed if the G35 sounds an audible "beep" when you approach low fuel status? My needle was on "E" and I hadn't seen any unusual lights and I didn't hear anything, and when I filled up the tank it appeared to have almost 4 gallons still left. Does it go off around what, 1 or 2 gallons, and if so does it beep? Maybe I missed this in the manual but I don't recall seeing it.
  • peaceofmindapapeaceofmindapa Member Posts: 9
Infiniti 1% of the Base MSRP (holdback) + 2% of the Base Invoice (floorplanning allowance)---
This is from here at Edmunds...and other Websites say 3% base to 2% MSRP. I'll go with around 3% and take my chances. They still make a lot of money and get a new customer ;-).
  • morgan1112morgan1112 Member Posts: 36
There is a small light at the bottom of the gague that lights up when you are on 'empty'. I found that I still had a couple of gallons left even when the light came on. Of course the way this thing eats gas, that really isn't that much.

Thanks for the info on the low fuel light. Another thing- I read somewhere that the doors were locking at 5 or 8 mph- Has anyone else noticed this? I haven't, but my others cars have all done this and I would like for this one to as well. If it isn't an automatic feature does anyone know if it can be programmed at the dealership to do this?
  • riverrat69riverrat69 Member Posts: 3
Please explain the VPP program you used to buy your car. $300 over invoice sounds to good to be true. Thanks

Just got my G35 last Friday. What an awesome car. Still haven't figured out how to reprogram the drivers seat memory. Anybody else having problems?
  • vyungvyung Member Posts: 1
I just bought a G35 with leather. Beneath the steering wheel on the left hand side, there is a control for adjusting the brightness and a VDC switch. Between the brightness and VCD switches, there is a placeholder.

Is there suppose to be a switch for Traction control as a standard equipment?

Just picked up my new G-35 today! I had a really hard time finding exactly what I wanted here in the Dallas area. It took me a week to find, silver with willow interior leather, perfered, winter, Xenon, and wood. None of the dealers had any on their lot (only a couple of perferred at that) and I got lucky and found one that was coming in very soon. I waited a week and finally it has come! Yea!! All said and done with what is listed above, Lo-Jack and tinted windows, tax, title and licence: $35,100. I was very happy with the price and even more impressed because of how in demand these cars seem to be. Better enjoy it while we can!! Hope they don't start "stacking them deep and selling the cheep!" Anyway, great car, great features and great fun!!

The company I work for has a corporate agreement with Nissa/Infiniti. The price of the G35 is non-negotiable, and is basically equivalent to the dealer invoice - hell of a deal!!!!!

Hello all, it's very nice to be here. It's hard to believe there is already a pretty big following for such a new car!

My family got our G35 2 weeks ago. We got the Canadian Base model which comes standard with the luxury package. Including leather, HID Xenon headlamps, 6 disc in-dash changer, power driver's seat, 17 Inch 6 spokes wheels, all season tire...etc. It's in this lovely Desert Platinum color with interior being Willow Leather. Currently we have guest here so we drove them around in the new car and the mileage is now about 1800km on the odometer.

Coming from a 1998 Camry LE 4 cylinder, the G35 is a pretty big jump, but it is such a lovely car.

Well since my last posting I finally ordered the G35, which I will be picking up June 6,2002.
And my price all I can say is excellent. I did some web searching on various car buyers sites and finally started to get some responses. But then came the email from dealer A who said he would let me have the G35 at $ 350.00 above invoice. Sounded great and I was tempted to email him back and say "sold". I let it go for a day or two and my current Infiniti dealer emails me and calls me and we spoke for an hour about the G35. I mentioned to him that I received this email from dealer A who said I could have the G35 for $ 350.00 above cost. Well my Infiniti dealer asked me to forward this to him, which I did. He called me back and said he would honor it. So we spoke some more and finally I ordered the G35 with Leather, Sun roof and trunk map for $28,409.00. That's like a savings of $2,000.00. Good thing I did not wait any longer they are now short on G35's and he is taking orders for Sept delivery at MSRP. This is my 3rd Infiniti in a row, except this one is mine since it is purchased not leased.

    mboxer,

The base invoice on the car you mentioned is $26,225. You paid about $550 under MSRP and about $1700 over invoice.
  • clothcloth Member Posts: 52
    Invoice is 26225 + 545 destination + sunroof (1000) + trunk mat (70) = 27840.
Mboxer did very well at 569 over invoice.
  • rpawlak98rpawlak98 Member Posts: 28
I was mistaken. My calculations were wrong.
    MBoxer good a good deal.

I am paying $27,820 (or close to it, not sure) for leather, winter package, No sunroof.

Picked up our Emerald Green G35 with Leather and sunroof April 3rd. It now has about 3,000 miles on it and I love it more than the day we drove it off the lot. Applying six coats of Zaino Brothers Show Car Polish gave me a chance to get to know every square inch of the exterior. And man it looks soooo good.

Purchased it from Kirkland Infiniti just east of Seattle Washington. Had a very good buying experience there. At the time we were trying to decide between the I35 and the G35 and tood several test drives of each. The sales lady only accompanied us on the first ride each and after that when we showed up on the lot she just asked which one we wanted to drive and she tossed us the keys. From this end of the buying decision I don't know what tood more than one ride.

Well, I've heard all the rumors about the G35 sedan getting a manual transmission. I know they are first producing the coupe, and the 350Z, then will release the manual sedan. I've heard everrything ranging from late summer 2002 to early 2003. Does anyone know for sure when the manual tranny is to be released, or does Infiniti/Nissan not even know?

    Thanks.

I got the good news that my G is in transit and due to arrive June 25. It has been REAL hard to wait (7 weeks total from order date)
  • blue95accordblue95accord Member Posts: 1
After convincing mom to get one, she finally arrived. Had to wait a week to get it, but we paid less for the upgraded one, than the basic one w/leather and sunroof. $31k out the door after taxes. It was $29.5 w/leather, sunroof, and sport package. Not bad huh? We love it, and I drove it today.Much nicer than my friends 02' Audi A4

    Hi,

I've test drove the G35 a couple of times and am concerned about the quality of the interior plastics used on the dash. The matte black plastic that surrounds the dash and extends down between the front seats seems very hard. I noticed in the test car that it was already showing scuff marks (almost scratches).

While you all as new owners are likely "biased" and happy with what otherwise is a great car, I'm just curious what the opinions of actualy owners are about the durablility/quality of the interior...
    Thanks!
  • excitonexciton Member Posts: 6
I have the willow interior and I have not noticed any tendancy for the interior plastic to scuff excessively. I have a small mark on the drivers door due to a boot kick. There are a few very small marks where the seat belt buckle retracts (I have learned not to let it fly back uncontrolled). The only think I wasn't happy about was the driver's door seal broke apart in one spot. Infiniti is replacing that when the part comes in. I found the console plastic different - it has a unique texture not completely hard - but by no means "cheap" like
some of the plastic on the Altima.

We ordered ours end of April, dealer expects it to arrive end of June, first of July. Ivory Pearl, Graphite Leather with sunroof, sport, winter and Aero Package. The dealer did not have one with Aero Package, we have searched the web for pictures including Infiniti's sight-no luck. So we are really anxious to see what we ordered. If anyone out there has a picture with the painted Aero Package, we would like to see it.

Hello there! I live in Miami and I'm buying this car. I had no luck trying to get a fair price here in Miami. These guys, they all want MSRP. Can any of you share what you paid for your G 35? I am willing to go anywhere in Florida to save some money. I want the Premium Package, aero package, aerodynamic kit, sport package, sunroof and xenon headlights. Can you also tell me the phone # and name and location of the dealership along with the contact name?? I'll truly apreciate any help. Thanks!!!

At 8 AM this morning my Infiniti dealer Michael from North Shore Infiniti drove from Long Island to Staten Island and picked up my wife and myself and by 1030 was cruising back to Staten Island with my BRAND NEW DESERT PLATINUM SUNROOF LEATHER G35. This car is a dream. It felt good all those Lexus, BMW and Audi's were checking out our baby and we could see how envious they were as we left them in the dust. Great job Infiniti.
  • mboxermboxer Member Posts: 13
driving to pick up our G35 talking with Michael from North Shore Infiniti he was telling me he has G35 clients who were flying to see him from Florida, Washington state and friving their G35 home, since they saved so much money.

Test Drove the car, liked it alot.
Found out that this car is the 2003 Nissan Skyline 350 GT, loved it even more. Like my dealer b/c they adviced me not to get the full aero kit for the reasons:

    It's not installed in Japan.
Color they get from Japan doesn't exactly match the body color.
    Breaks easily on uneven road.
    Nice look but not practical.
    Saved me lots of $$$!!!

    Here is my package detail:
    Billiant Silver
    Black Letter
    Sports Package
    Xenon Headlights
    Prim. Pkg
    Winter Pkg
    Aero Pkg
    Navigation System.

Buying a G35 in Chicago was a fairly arduous task -- no one wanted to budge more than $400 off MSRP. After a brutal 2-hour haggling round, I finally got a green G35 with willow interior and a sunroof for $29,000. My suggestion -- get pricing on similar models like the Acura TL Type S, pretend you'll be content with that model and use those prices as leverage. There don't seem to be many Infiniti dealerships (in Chicago at least) willing to quote anything significantly off MSRP that you could take to other dealers. Be creative.

Hello everyone, just discovered this board and what a treat. I purchased my G35 in March after seeing the car for the first time at an auto show. It was a 'got have it' experience. I traded my 99 Chrysler 300M for a Emerald Mist beauty. It has NAV, Xenon, Wood, Premium, and Winter packages with a graphite interior. I have really been pleased with my purchase and would do it again. It really a pleasure to drive. I look forward to being a part of this group.
