I have an 04 Sedan, 6MT with 16,500 miles, that recently started to have a sound that I can only describe as a wheel/tire wobble. It also has a faint similarity to what a flat tire sounds like, but to a much lesser degree. It appears appx 50mph and up. Slight vibration on the steering wheel starts at 70mph.

It appeared about a week ago, and have cheked the tire pressure, different roads to see if it not an issue, but as far as I can tell, it is still there. Anyone have any similar experience? I have searched and have come up with nothing that satisfies my particular issue. Thanks.

I have a 2006 Coupe with 1300 miles and I have noticed an annoying creaking sound from the driver side window when it is rolled up. When it is rolled down the noise seems to disappear but then the side view mirror makes noise. I also noticed that the windows make a clicking sound when they are being put up or down. Does anyone else have this problem in their coupe?

I have posted messages on this very same topic before. I have a 2004 sedan and have experienced this horrendously annoying creaking noise for about 20,000 miles. It started around 5,000 miles. I have sent it to the dealer multiple times for repair and they can't get rid of the creaking.

It comes from all four windows. I think it is the window casing. I sprayed silicon spray all around the rubber stripping around the door/window frame and that fixes it for a few hours and then it starts again.

Sorry, I have no other suggestions....let me know if you hear of anything else to fix this problem!

There's a TSB onthis. It involves removing the weather stripping and placing a piece of foam weatherstripping within the factory weatherstripping. I did a similar thing on my car by jamming foam into the window channel so that the window has a tighter seal. This stopped the problem on my car. I now have 34K QUIET miles on her.

My 2005 G35 sedan also has the same creaking noise problem from the door frame sometimes. The noise seems to be caused by the friction between the window chrome (stainless steel) strip and the rubber part beneath it. You can run your finger pressing along the chrome and see if the same noise can be reproduced. Doing this sometimes re-seats the chrome strip and stops the noise, but it tends to come back when the outside temperature changes. Some kinds of lubrication of insulation between the strip and the rubber ought to fix the noise.

From 2005, only the rear drive G35 sedan has bigger brake pads and rotors (share with the new M35/45's). The 2005 G35x still has the smaller brake hardwares as in all pre-2005 G35 models (coupe w/ Brembo excluded). So it's not unexpected to hear your 2005 G35x has the same brake issue as those of 2003-2004 G35's. I think someone said that for 2006, G35x is now also equipped with bigger brake hardware but I haven't personally verified this yet.

    Hi,

I just took delivery of my new G35X last night. While driving this morning, I noticed a couple of things that I probably should have picked up on last night but in my excitement missed. It is still early here so I have yet to talk to my dealer, but want to hear from other owners.

    1. The turn signals lights (front and rear) seem to operate correctly, but there is no dash indicator that blinks correspondingly. I assume this should NOT be the case. I think other indicators are also not working, such as hi-beam.

    2. I have the Premium package with the dual-zone temp control. Mine seems to go back to the "default" setting of 75 degrees, whenever I turn off and restart the car. Is this normal or is there supposed to be a memory that retains the last climate settings?

My clock is also not working (it is stuck at 8:35, which is about the time I picked up the car, so I didn't notice this either). All of these items would appear to be electrical in nature, so I would imagine they could be related to a fuse or similar.

    Thanks in advance,

    Ron K.

It's possible that the dealer forgot to install a special fuse before delivery. I know my former car, an '04 Nissan Pathfinder, had a 10 amp fuse that had to be installed prior to delivery. The point of the fuse not being installed by the factory was to prevent the battery from being drained by the clock and other functions that require constant power (e.g. possibly the climate control settings, radio presets, etc.).

Hopefully you already got your car fixed, let us know what it was.

    That's got to be it.

Son of a gun... that may have been part of what's happened on my car. I got hit on the side and although the door wasn't damaged, it needed to be partially painted to "blend" the paint. I absolutely noticed it has a wavy look to it now. The shop has tried a million times to make it look better, but I'm so unhappy and disgusted with the whole experience, I'm trying to get out of the car. Problem is, it looks like I'm going to take a nasty financial hit if I do.

It could be that one of the weight balance weights came loose. This would cause you to get that sound at higher speeds. They would have to pull the tire and rebalance it.

One of the service managers at Pepe Infiniti told me that the brakes were changed for the 2006 G 35X so what you are saying/heard makes sense.
In the meantime, I have retained a lawyer to persue my case with Infiniti as they just refer you to the dealer and the dealer says they are independently owned. I am not going to get involved in this game, we will let the courts figure it out.
The attorney gets 35% of a cash settlement and 11% of a repurchase. I should be so lucky to get a repurchase judgement and get rid of this very disappointing high end car.
  • dem739dem739 Member Posts: 24
There was a class action lawsuit against Infiniti for the 2003 and 2004's and a settlement. You can find the information online by searching for it.
Too bad you didn't do research before you bought the car because the problem was well known for 2003 & 2004 models. My 2005 has the same problem as the 2003 and 2004's but Infiniti doesn't admit to it.
I have retained an attorney to pursue this with Infiniti because they aren't admitting there is a problem.
  • dem739dem739 Member Posts: 24
From what I have read online, I believe it may only be issue with the G35X's. Although the dealer up to my last visit claimed that is was the way I drove the car.
After I told the service manager I retained an attorney, she told me she was glad someone is doing something because she is always in the middle.

Thanks for the advice. I retained an attorney and the process has started. He gets 35% of a cash settlement and 11% of a repurchase. I should be so lucky to get a repurchase agreement.

Thanks for the reply. I thought about that, and went ahead and had the tires rotated and balanced. Last rotation and balance was at 10k. I was told that 2 needed some balance. Unfortunately, the wobble/loose sound is still there. I went ahead and called the dealer and have an appointment. I wanted to be able to give a more definitive definition of the issue, other than wobble/loose sound, but hey, I'm going this way for now. I've read of tie rod and premature bushing wear, so we'll see.
  • dkmdkm Member Posts: 19
Can't say much because my lawyer does not want me to. I can say though I have also launched a lawsuit against Infiniti / Nissan. My pads and rotors went at 12,000 km (yes km).

There is FSB on this noise for 03/04/05, but not on the 06's, which I have, it has same noise and infiniti will not yet admit there is a problem

Just wondering if anyone has ever come across this issue or has heard of it. I test drove a 04 G35x and am serious about buying, but I ran into a problem with the sport shift. After shifting to manual, then back to drive, I shifted back to manual again, except this time the car stayed in drive. No matter what I did I couldn't get it to work. I ended up pulling over, turning off the car, restarting, and then manumatic came to life again. The dealer was in the car with me and has said he's never seen that problem before (of course they would say that). Could this be a tranny computer issue, or maybe a failsafe feature that I accidentally activated? The car is still far under the PT warranty, but I'd like to know if this is a serious problem. Please help! Thanks

My guess is that you could have confused it. I bump mine around a bit but not exactly how you described your event.

Never had a problem myself. I wouldn't worry; the dealer saw it. Forget it unless it happens again.

For the first time this weekend, I heard my drivers window "click" as it went down. It was a soft ratching kind of sound and the window was wet at the time.

Hmmmm. Hope this is not going to become a problem. Otherwise no window "rattles" so far that I have noticed. I have 5000 miles on this G35 Coupe built in March of 06; Delivery in May 06.

2003 Coupe. When I click the window switch auto up (close) the window hits the closed point then re-opens to the first FOB openning point.

Is this something I can fix myself? Did a fuse blow?

    Appreciate any help!

I recently purchased a 2006 coupe and have noticed a few problems:
    1. I can't seem to get anywhere near 20 gallons of gas in the tank
    2. The glove compartment light never goes off
    3. At 60 mph the RPMs are at 2400 --Is this normal?
    4. I'm getting about 15 mpg in the city, it only has about 1800 miles on it and the dealer insists the gas mileage will improve when the car has 5000 miles on it
    5. Most people can't seem to hear me if I'm on the blue tooth
The car is less than a month and and I'm already having doubts, I do love the performance and the look though. Any info or help would be appreciated! Emily
  • rollbarrollbar Member Posts: 297
Mileage does improve after a while. I have 5000 miles and get 19.5 to 21 on a regular basis; and I definitely put my foot in it. Daily. My commute is a combo of highway and city of about 52 miles a day.

Can't say about the glove box.

I'll check my rpm in 5th at 60.

I'm having trouble with the Bluetooth too. This is the single most annoying thing about the car. I am almost ready to turn it off and go back to my also annoying headset. I can hear others fine but they tell me I break up in transmission.

The other annoying thing is the location of the power seat buttons. Why oh why did they have to put them there? Are all the designers skinny little folks with 28-inch waists? The panel pushes against my right leg and though I get used to it; I notice the pressure every time I get in the car. They moved the panel in the new 07 sedans; I hope they move it in the 08 Coupes as well.

Just got my '06 G35 Sedan. The dealer said it's ok to use Reg., and if I'm going on a long road trip to use the Mid-Grade. If overall performance will be better, I'm fine using Premium. Is it worth it?
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
whatever the owner's manual calls for and stick to it. The factory engineers know what they are doing. If your manual says regular and you're using premium, you're wasting your money.
  • javacjavac Member Posts: 34
the manual says use min. octane of 87, but for "improved vehicle performance" use premium, min. octane 91. i guess it just depends...
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
Well that means your car's computer map is able to adjust for various octanes but that it is quite happy on 87. I'm not sure what they mean by "improved vehicle performance", but if your knock sensor allows a little advance in ignition timing you might feel a bit more power with 91 and a bit less with 87. Why don't you do this: Try 87 for a few tankfuls and see if you are satisfied with performance and MPG?
  • javacjavac Member Posts: 34
Yeah, the manual is too general. I'll try your suggestion though. Thanks very much for your advice! :)
  • newfrontiernewfrontier Member Posts: 36
Interesting that the Coupe and manual transmission sedans require 91 octane. I guess the tweak to 298 hp requires the higher octane. Interesting how it just skips over any mid-grade recommendation (89 octane), even the emergency situation. Any thoughts about running less than premium in a manual transmission car?
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
well it would have to be a combination of tweaking the computer maps to crank up the timing and then using the premium fuel. There is no extra "power" in premium fuel itself. If your engine isn't designed for it, it won't do you any good whatsoever.
  • murrowmurrow Member Posts: 72
So, what's the difference between regular and premium? At the gas station I usually stop at, it's a whopping 10 cents. Multiply that by the 17 gallons I typically put in -- that's $1.70 a fill-up. Even if you fill up once a week, that's less that $100/year.

If you're going to buy the car and enjoy it, give it what the manufacturer recommends. If it's premium, then give it premium. Or trade your Infiniti for a thrifty Corolla.

I have a 06 6MT sedan and I have the same problem with the glove box light and blue tooh.

I noticed that the glove box light doesn't turn off at night. I didn't really pay attension during the day.

The blue tooth is the really annoying part.. People can't seem to hear me very well when I speak and tell me that my voice is breaking up. I even hold up my cell phone thinking its the reception. But, I guess I should check it into the dealer. I would recommend the same with your's. I love the car, but the blue tooth really puts a damper on things, especially, when you pay extra for it.

Any one else with blue tooth trouble?
  • javacjavac Member Posts: 34
Well, like I said, I don't mind either way. I just wanted owner opinions b/c the dealer & the manual both suggested Regular.
  • javacjavac Member Posts: 34
I have the G35 Sedan..just got it last weekend & I have already noticed Bluetooth problems. If I receive or make a call to another cell phone the reception isn't too good. If I'm calling someone at their home number it seems fine though...
  • rollbarrollbar Member Posts: 297
I posted about people having trouble hearing me while on the Coupe's Bluetooth some time back.

Interesting that javac distinguishes between calling a cell and a home phone; I assume that means a land line.

I have the most trouble trying to call in a to-go order at local food stops while on my way home. I usually turn the fan off since the blowing air disrupts the quality of the signal. I also lean back and attempt to speak at the ceiling while still trying to keep an eye on the road. Still, the food shops just can't hear me. Very frustrating. I think they are wearing headsets but don't know why that would make a difference.

The window have an auto safety for stuck finger. So, if someone by chance has something on the window while it is closing. The window will automatically open a little to release that thing.

In my case, I complain to the dealer that I am getting too much wind noise while driving. So, the dealer move the window motor up a little to get a snog fit. By doing that, the dealer cause my window to automatically row down. Cause the window thinks something is stuck.

    You understand what I mean?

Just tell them about it, and they will readjust your window motor for u...

Did you ever check your RPMs? It seems my car doesn't go into overdrive, on my road trip the RPMs at 70 mph this weekend were 2800!! That seems quite high, and could explain the poor gas mileage!! Hwy was 25, but city is around 15!!
  • javacjavac Member Posts: 34
My dealer called yesterday just to see how things were going & I mentioned it to him. He said if the problem persists to bring it in & they'll reprogram it so you may want to consider that option. And you're right, it's VERY frustrating.
  • rollbarrollbar Member Posts: 297
No I did not. I forgot, but I'll check it on the way home this evening and see what rpm I'm doing at 70mph. You are in 5th gear I assume.

Related to speed is the accuracy of the speedometer. Anyone else check this?

I use a Garmin GPS that displays my speed. (Why don't the nav units do this? The Infiniti Coupe speedometer reads 1.5 MPH high at all the speeds I checked. That's not bad; my Porsche speedo read 4 MPH high and the dealer said that was normal!

2006 Coupe auto in 5th gear flat (more or less) surface.

    Indicated 70 MPH = 2800 RPM

Actual 70 MPH = 2700 (as far as I can tell).

This minor problem is starting to get my goat. The new seatbelt holders attached to the front seats have a slot at the center top of the guide, (06 coupe). My belt seems to find this slot regularly and when it does the belt comes out. I reach for the belt and it's gone, tucked down behind my seat.

I'm thinking about putting some clear packing tape around the top of the guide to cover the slot.

Occasionally my driver side speakers (left front and rear) fade out to a low muffle. This only occurs when using the 6 disk changer. If during the low muffle I switch to the FM radio, then the speakers play fine...therefore ruling out a loose wire. Anyone else have this problem?
  • neptungrllneptungrll Member Posts: 48
Thank you Don. I have not been on the boards here for a long while but I am printing off your solution. I did take the car back to the dealer and they did fix the problem for now it seems! Thanks so much!

I have had problems with my Bluetooth since I bought the car. Nobody can hear me on the other side. They say it just cuts in and out, mostly out. Infiniti had not heard of the problem when I told them about it in January. As of last month I am finally not the only one with the issue.

Their diagnostics say everything is ok. I have tried 3 different models of Blackberry (all on the ok to use list) and a Razor (also approved). All had the same results, nobody can hear me. I leased my G35 coupe and am fed up with it. My job requires a lot of driving and this sucks. I will get out of my lease as soon as I can. Too bad because the car itself drives great. However I have a problem paying for something that doesn't work no matter how small. It is the principal of it.

I believe that there is a problem in the microphone wiring or antenna placement. Something that keeps it from transmitting out. Incoming is great.

Oh yeah, the same phone works great with the Bluetooth in my 2006 4Runner. No surprise as it is a Toyota.
