I wouldn't touch a demo. Especially with 9k on it. You don't know how that car has been ridden (no matter what they say) also, I thought the demos were limited to 5k. maybe that's just a toyota rule. about the leasing... I'm dumb on that subject - sorry.
We have only once found a dealership in NJ willing to accept the 20% off MSRP offer although they did not have our desired color combination. We also found a dealership in Chevy Chase, MD willing to deduct the $4K incentive off his invoice and also cut deep into his holdback.
Exactly how would the 2% holdback and advertising fees be calculated? Do you think it would it be to our advantage to wait and negotiate a deal closer towards the end of the month (perhaps Black Friday)?
I also saw someone posted $1,500 for the holdback. Don't know how it came from.
My question is this: mdxrrrr mentioned above that you shouldn't pay more than $36K (plus Tax title) for an 2008 MDX w/ Tec, PTG. The MSRP, including Destination, for that car is $45,005, invoice at $40,946 according to edmunds. So, mdxrr is saying that you can get it for about $5k under invoice.
Now, I want the 08 MDX Basic. The MSRP is $40,995, and invoice at $37,724. Using the above model by mdxrrr as a reference point, do you guys think I can get the Basic for 32,774 $5k under invoice)? If I just told them, "Look, I'll give you $32K for it.", would I be insulting them or would that be in the ballpark?
Thanks in advance.
No you are not insulting him...
Back in early sept I got an email offer from a dealer in orange county CA
Base 32574
Tech + PTG 36246
over the phone we agreed on $500.00 less for any car in stock. Salesman kept his word when we reach there.
I decided on Tech + PTG.. Went in there.. bought the car and was out in few hours... No negotiations were done at the dealership.. Only final test drive... etc.
35746 + 70 doc fee + TTL = 38880 OTD in California
If I would have gone with base it would be 32074 + 70 + TTL
Also, I actually had read all the posts since late September to set a target price for myself. Just in case it helps others, here is some of the low and high price points I had seen before on this post in one summary view.
2008 MDX Model Low High Target Price
Base $32,000 $33,000 $32,500
Tech $35,000 $35,500 $35,500
Tech+PTG $36,000 $36,200 $36,000
Tech+Entertainment $38,000 $38,800 $37,500
Sport $37,500 N/A $37,500
Sport+PTG $37,150 $38,500 $38,000
Sport+Entertainment $39,700 $39,500
You can also see the target price I had set for myself above using this data, and also keeping reasonable deltas between the different packages. I bought it at my target price and my recommendation after going through the buying process is starting $500 below that and ensure you do not pay any documentation / processing type fees except tax/ttl.
Here is a good site for the aftermarket MDX stuff. (The items the dealers try to include in your purchase price at full list price, plus their labor) If you are a little handy most of it can easily be installed by yourself.
www.acurapartssuperstore.com
Before you place your order, I would recommend calculating the total cost of having it shipped to your house, and then call your local Acura parts department and see if they will meet the price. Several local dealers will do that, esp, if you are ordering more than one accessory. The parts prices aren't written in stone, they have a margin too.
What we took for a drive was the following:
2008 MDX with Tech, PTG MSRP of $45,005. It is a loaner car with 7,000 miles on it. They would give 5 year 55,000 mile warranty (so warranty would go to 62,000 miles).
This dealer did not have the 2008 Basic; but asked if I would be interested in this loaner. I didn't have too much time to talk numbers. However, their offer on the car was $32,800.
Again, I wasn't there to haggle at that time. I told him I had other cars to look at it and I need to digest this offer first and will let him know what I think.
It may be just me, but I never liked loaner cars. However, this has very low mileage with full warranty. I would be turned off it had 13k or more miles on it.
As discussed in my prior post, I could probably get a brand new 2008 MDX Basic for around the same price of 32,800. So, this loaner gives me the Tech and PTG (which is about $4K more); however, it comes at the cost of having 7,000 miles. In other words, is adding the Tech and PTG an even tradeoff for the 7,000 miles?
What do you all think?
Who does it compare with RX 350? How much discount MSRP should I expect? I am from Los Angeles.
Also, performance rating from what I read is average, can anybody shares their experience. Tks.
Was the last 08 MDX in 50mi radius.
But since it was driven off the lot, I would recommend really checking over the body and making sure all the paint is original and it hasn't had a panel or door repainted due to an fender bender. An easy way to tell is to look for swirells in the paint, that comes from a buffer.
I learnt the 0.9% financing on 2008 MDX (ends 12/1) and the price on the market from this thread.
Jumped in for a Tech model for below $36,000 last Saturday. I started with the initial price from $35,500 at home (talking over the phone) as jstbghtmdx posted here. Dealer got back with a price between $35,500 and $36,000. Then I took it.
I'm in the San Francisco bay area.
There are not too many 2008 model left in south bay. But there are still some in the surrounding area as not far as to Sacramento area. -- I didn't go that far but e-mailed them.
I do not post the specific dealer here. -- I think you may get a good deal from any dealer if they still have one in the lot.
One more point: do not pay the destination charge. It's included already.
Good luck and keep posting!
I'm about to pull the trigger the trigger on a 2009 MDX Sport w/ Entertainment Package. Was doing my research in the Maryland area and the best deal I got was $45,500 which includes the destination fee. Is this the best price I can get these days? I want to take advantage of the current financing deal.
Would also appreciate any input on accessories that are "must haves" for the MDX.
Thanks!
power tail gate is definitely a must NOT have. complete waste of money. avoid it at all costs.
Last week I start negotiation with a local dealer at 32K for a base but even failed the deal at 32.5K. The deal baiscally said 1) they can not compete with CA price, as CA dealer has much higher volume to profit with. 2) the local dealer said following options ared added and they don't want to pay technican again to uninstalled it:
Roof Rail: $320
protection package ($450): extra all-season floor mat, cargo tray, cargo mat, wheel lock
eventually we agreed the price on 33.2K+75 doc fee + title, no sale tax in our state.
after driving home, i just find I miss the following,
1) tire is Bridgestone instead of michellin on the demo car
2) there is no cargo cover.
what tire do you guys get and does the base price include the cargo cover?
thanks.
so it looks like i got a reasonable deal 33.2K for a base with extra of roof rail, wheel lock, weather mat and cargo tray.
I think i need to get a cargo cover from online store.
can not understand why tech pkg is so popular here, 3K+ for a navigation and rear camera is way too much.
The only way to buy a MDX today WITHOUT the power tailgate is to buy the Base model.
Madooba, as for recommended accessories, I'd suggest looking into the side moldings, side steps/running boards, roof rack rails, and all-weather mats as suggested options.
Did I do well? Took advantage of the 2.9% financing as well.
2009 with the Tech Package -- from $44,700 down to $42,100 (dealer says they are only making $150 over invoice).
36 month lease @ the promo .90%, 12K miles with $0 down is for $733 per month.
The Acura.com ad shows that it's possible to get a 36 month lease for $499 per month so I'm still not sure how they can advertise such a low figure? Tax and fees weren't exactly made clear to me.
Also, I was told that the 50% residual value for the lease calculation is non-negotiable, is that truthful?
I can't afford $700 for a new MDX but might be able to stretch to $550...any tricks out there to possibly make this work?
By the way, I test drove the Pilot (Touring edition) but wasn't overly impressed and would probably rather go with the 2009 Mountaineer since i can get into one for $500 on a lease.
Sorry for the delayed response. When I said 32K it was with NO acc..no protection pkg..nothing.
You can buy some acc at a competetive price at hondaacuraworld.com
Hope your steering vibe will go soon
Sanjay
as far as the acc goes...there are no "must haves" its your taste and lifestyle..
Check out acuramdx.org and see how/what can be done to MDX...
As far as options go....here are what I think are must haves...and that Acura should have included in base
1) Proximity sensor...camera is not good enough
2) Power tailgate...extremely convinient...I totally disagree with dishwash on this. This is one one of the options that will make you say "how did i live without it"
2) Roof rails...its an SUV..
Sanjay
Just took delivery today of a Formal Black MDX w/ Sport & Entertainment Pkgs., ebony leather interior, and MANY accessories. Here was my deal: walked in yesterday and this completely tricked-out beauty was sitting on the showroom floor. Chrome side-steps and roof rack made it stand out. Then saw wood/perf-leather steering wheel and shift knob, autobond front-end treatment, all weather mats, etc. and called for the sales manager. The car was his for a little over two months. 4000 miles. It was stunning, and just what l wanted, so l said, let's do business. Sticker was $53,046.00 and l signed the deal for $48,900.00. He gave the following concessions: Increased my warranty to 56,000 miles from 50,000. Free oil change/filter for 4yr/56,000 miles. Free loaner for same. etc.... I was, and am, VERY happy!
- the offer is better than I got.
2009 MDX Sport w/ Entertainment Package,
the offer I got is $44,098 + tax/title/fees.
should be: $43,500 or less.
Thanks,
Bob.
That looks like a pretty good price for both packages and below invoice. Where are you located?
Also as a side, does anyone have experience with the Acura Remote Starter on the MDX? Doesn't make sense to me that you need to stop the engine in order to get into the car only to start it up again manually. And the range is terrible. Any after market remote starters one would recommend that won't screw up the existing system?
That is a great deal !!! I love it!!!
