I haven't made a move anywhere else. Most of them claim to meet that offer, but I doubt their sincerity. I would like to query this forum to check if anyone experienced a no-hassle internet shopping experience...guess this market is not ready yet!

Please let me know of your experience. I am looking to buy a tech in the next couple of weeks.

What dealership in Ocean County NJ had 08s left? Was this the same dealer that offered you this pricing on an 09?
  • chevy66chevy66 Member Posts: 2
You can probably get a sport 09 for 43K, the actual invoice is 42K not 43.5K, i bought mine for 43.5K because i was 4 months early on a lease turn in which they paid for as well. That does not include the 2K honda incentive, i think that just came out in the begining of december. Sport and entert + tech are basically the same invoice price maybe off by a few hundred dollars. I went with the sport over the TV because i like the wheels, the sport leather seats and the tighter suspension.

Speaking of Gillman...I was quoted $40,600 + $315 free showroom accessories. I asked if he could take the value of the accessories and just take it off the price. He said he would ask his sales manager and call back. The sales manager called back and said the best deal they could give me was $40,900?!?! I said "see ya" and went to the guys at Champion Acura. Champion blows everyone out of the water as far as honesty and being straight up with you. They were with me. I highly recomment Champion.

We bought a bone stock 09 for our parents from Mission Viejo Acura. We were the beneficiaries of a price war and was able to make out with a price of $37,643 OTD with 8.25% tax as an LA resident. I haven't read of anybody getting a better deal anywhere, but it seems that dealerships are desperate to move some cars. Good time to buy if you need to buy now. Curtis Aitchenson as MV Acura is a friendly guy who'll work hard to earn your business. Avoid Riverside Acura at all costs as they are completely sleazy and unprofessional which is really surprising for an Acura dealership. The lowdown on them was they sold off a 08 which they agreed to sell to me (said they would put a sold sign, never asked for deposit). Drove down on Sunday like I said I would and some sleazy dude tried to sell me a 09 tech even though I said I am only interested in their 08 base. The people that work there in general do not inspire confidence, Mission Viejo was a night and day difference.

    Kim,
My experience with Curtis was similar to yours...

I bought 08 Tech + PTG from him in early sept...
He quoted me 35.7K + TTL (38.8 OTD)...

Every dealer in San Diego told me that its impossible and he is just trying to get you in the dealership..

I went there..picked the color from the lot..it was the most trouble free buying experince...

    Hi,
Where you guys search from? Is it Cars.com or Autotraders or what. How to find out whether anyone has a 08MDX with tech/ent. I live in upstate NY and can travel upto 500miles radius to get a good deal.
Thanks in advance for any lead/advice
  • sanjaysdcasanjaysdca Member Posts: 269
It might be too late for 2008. Southern California seems to have more stock..

However it seems you need to do more work in trying to find 08's if you are really interested...

for example in three min I found that Lehigh Valley Acura in Allentown PA has one 2008 Tech ent listed on the website....Do they have it...not sure but worth the call. Depending on where you are in NY it will be less then 500 miles.

    Go to Acura Website
    Find dealers within 500 miles
go to the individual dealer website and check inventory...

There is a possibility that they do not update the inventory... so you have to be careful before driving there

What was your final deal at Champion in Houston? What model did you get? Would you share salesperson?
  • rsamerica1rsamerica1 Member Posts: 71
Lehigh Valley does not have that 08 left - gone for at least two weeks.

for any configuration of MDX. I saw 2000 under in a post on an MDX forum, and intended to drive to that number. Should I be thinking bigger discounts based on more recent incentives or market conditions?

    Thanks,

Hey everyone...quick question...how's a phone offer of $39800 sound for a new 09 mdx sport? They have one on the lot with the ext/int i want and they are asking for a $1000 deposit over the phone to hold it for me until I can go there over the weekend. I asked them to send a fax/email with the quote so I don't get a bait and switch pulled on me(still waiting). Are there any hidden fees that acura dealers try to throw at you? Also, how much should I try to offer an "out the door price" on it if my sales tax is 7%.

    Thanks!

39.8 is not that great of a price. 38.6 is a great price for a sport (dont forget the 2000 dealer incentive that is being offered this month). 38.6 + 2702 (tax) + 300 (doc/title fees) = 41.6 as your OTD price.

Am looking for a 2008 MDX tech and have found several dealer loaners with 12k or so miles. Best price is 32.5 plus ttl with it being certified. Would you buy a service loaner?
    Thanks!
  • terleeterlee Member Posts: 2
I just purchased a 2008 MDX w/ tech package + PTG. Paid $36,780 with an OTD price of $40,250 I had a chance to buy the same car but with the blue steel color (which I really didn't like) for $35,800 with an OTD price of $39,250. I decided to pay $1000 more for a color that I would like rather than be stuck with a color that I would regret for the next 8 years. I'm pretty happy with the price I paid (southern california).
  • AP79AP79 Member Posts: 6
Really?! 38.6k for an 09 sport? I'm not sure if they'll go down another 1.2k...I'll give it a try.

Anyone heard of getting a price like that?

I have offered $42,900 on a 2009 MDX (sport/ent) and I am wondering if i should have gone lower due to market conditions. Should I be looking for an OTD price of $42,900 instead?
I expect to be contacted by the dealers today based on my offers last night but i just want to be prepared with information from similar configurations to what i am looking for.
I am in mercer county NJ but widened my search to a 40mile radius.
  • kurtkbeekurtkbee Member Posts: 22
I just read that there is a $2000 dealer incentive on the 2009 MDX. Does this mean that i should look at taking the bid price further down below the invoice price than i already did?
Also is there any forum that compares the BMW X5 with the MDX (price, features, performance).
  • MadoobaMadooba Member Posts: 3
The best price that I was able to get (after the $2000 incentive) is $42,994 which also includes the $760 destination fee. I believe this is at $2000 below the invoice price and not sure if dealers are willing to go any lower than that. I was able to get the color combination I want.

Would be curious if anyone could have gotten it any cheaper. I'm picking up on Sunday!
  • frayedfrayed Member Posts: 5
Invoice on Sport/Ent is 44.2k. w/2k incentive, that's 42.2. I'd tell them you have a deal at 44.2, unless someone can validate that 09's are going for deeper discounts.
  • frayedfrayed Member Posts: 5

So wait a second. Sport = Invoice of 42.6k - 2k rebate = 40.6k. You are saying that another 2k lower is possible?

I personally would NOT. I've had many loaners from dealers and I usually don't drive them "gently." I imagine most people don't really care either. I bought a new 08 MDX base for 33.5K plus TTL in the DC area about 3 weeks ago. You may want to call all Acura dealers in your area and try to locate a leftover 08 new MDX.

Thanks for your comments. So even though its certified and I am figuring that the person who would get an Acura loaner isn't the type to abuse a vehicle.
Anybody else have any thoughts here?

I just agreed on price for a 2009 MDX w/TECH & ENT for $38,799 + TTL. I am looking to get some of the accessories with the car, running boards, cargo cover, etc. I believe the dealer margin on these parts are far higher than the car -- does anyone know how much leverage I have when negiotating on these accessories?

    Thanks.

jsperelman2, What dealership did you buy it from? What is your drive out price?
  • jsperelman2jsperelman2 Member Posts: 6
Springfield Acura, Springfield NJ. I am going tomorrow to pay for it, not sure what the final cost is but I have been assured several times for them this price includes the destination charge and everything else except TTL.

Based on your post, it looks like 3500 under invoice is a good target.

Not sure on the accessories; I did do a quick search online to price out running boards, molding, rack and stuff. Maybe you can shoot for internet pricing on the accessories and get them to comp the labor on the install.

Was your 09 (or 08) MDX Base Model? any package (Tech, Sport, Tech + Ent or Sport + Ent)? What was MSRP? and $37,643 was included tax, title & licence (TTL)? Thanks,
  • mdxrrrrrmdxrrrrr Member Posts: 42
jsperelam2, don't buy any aftermarket parts from your dealer without getting pricing from some of the on-line acura sites. I was quoted almost $600 (not including installation) to buy a set of the sport running boards from the dealer I bought my MDX from. I bought them on ebay (from an Acura dealer in the NE) for $360 plus $20 shipping and installed them myself in about 2 hours.
Got a set of the all weather mats delivered for $101.
At a bare minimum check www.acurapartssuperstore.com or several of the other sites. And check ebay, there are dealers who offer parts on there anonymously, when you get the parts they are new and in the factory boxes with invoice slip printed buy the dealer who sold them. Good Luck
Whatever you do, don't go into your dealership blindly and negotiate accessories, that where the dealers are attempting to make up the biggest part of their profit.

Just got off the phone with Springfield Acura and they quoted us $39,800 for a 2009 MDX Tech/Ent. Can you email us offline exactly who you were dealing with over at Springfield Acura? Our email address is doodles22 at comcast.net. If you do take delivery today, let us know how you made out. We would all love to know the details of your OTD price. Thanks!
  • alcedesalcedes Member Posts: 8
ya, that 38.8 price +TTL is a little too good to be true, They might be assuming you install some accesories to make up the profit. Let us know if you pull it off. Thanks.

what area and dealer did you go thru?
  • jsperelman2jsperelman2 Member Posts: 6
I think the saying is that is something seems too good to be true it probably is, and that was the case with this 2009 MDX w/ TECH + ENT I had agreed to for $38,799 at Springfield Acura in Springfield, NJ. When we arrived, we were told one of the Internet salespeople asked her mgr for a quote for the car with only TECH package, then relayed it to us as the price for TECH + ENT. I had the entire email conversation printed out, and the GM came to offer us the car for $39,778. Out of principle, I walked out of the dealership.
We called back the other low bidder on the car, DCH Montclair Acura (Verona, NJ), and said they had a deal for $39,153 which was their low bid -- then 20 minutes later received a call from the salesperson that her manager also thought he was quoting just the TECH package, rather than TECH + ENT, and they were unwilling to sell us at this price. I called the GM back directly, and told him that as we had found his dealer through the COSTCO auto program, I had assumed (albeit incorrectly) that his dealer would avoid playing games with me, and I would be calling COSTCO to tell them about this experience. He then re-offered me the car for $39,153, which I bought a couple of hours ago.
As for the accessories, I found another local dealer with an ebay store, and using that I was able to establish prices which I believed to be fair (about 40% off the dealer list). We wound up getting the cargo cover, cargo tray, running boards, all weather rubber mats, and luggage racks and crossbars. The installed price for all of these accessories was $1,425 -- this brought the car to $40,583.65.
With 8.625% New York sales tax (where I live), $199 NJ Dealer documentation fees, and some License fees, it came to $44,493.20. I financed it for 36 months at 0.9%, which comes out to $1253.60/month.
I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.

I am right now going back and forth between 4 Acura Dealers in WA for the 09 MDX Base. I have a quote for $36.5k + tax. Has anyone gotten a better deal?

Been reading the forums and folks are quoting getting as much as $3k below invoice.

I want to be at ~$35k + tax.
  • etomidateetomidate Member Posts: 14
We worked with Los Gatos Acura and had a wonderful experience. They played no games and matched the best price we got...which actually was from Serramonte Acura in SF. The cost was $38,283 + TTL in CA. Oakland, Pleasanton, Sunnyvale, Autowest Stevens Creek, Hopkins - all said they couldn't come close to the price. "We'd be taking a loss on the car." That is classic. Just be honest and say you can't sell for that low. Plain and simple. We are all educated buyers with some intelligence behind our actions...sales people sometimes can be such weirdo's.

However, I digress...our salesman was super great and it was the most pleasant experience I've ever had buying a car...as far as buying a car goes. I recommend this place for everyone. You can see my previous post from my other purchases from other years. Would never recommend anything unless I was 100% sure of the results.

Best of luck my friends...a fire sale is going on right now.

This was really helpful, thanks. For those who have financed recently, what are the standard fees? I am thinking about doing the 0.9% but don't want to get gouged on the fees.

Bought a 2008 MDX Sport w/PTG today in Boston area for $37.8K. Dealer has one left, but it is a demo. I was looking for a 2009 MDX w/Tech, but best price I was quoted was $39.5K.

I did all negotiations via email and saleperson was very good and honored the price with no hassles when we arrrived. My wife and I were out in approx 45 mins.
  • jsperelman2jsperelman2 Member Posts: 6
Amazingly we didn't have any fees to finance the vehicle, and we did not have to give them a dime to drive the car out of the lot. Of course it is subject to a credit check. I plan on paying this automatically every month from my ING checking account with an APR of 3.05%. In my opinion it does not make sense to put anything down, and arbing the difference between my post-tax interest income from this account and the 0.9% from Honda Finance lowers the price of this vehicle pretty nicely.

    Hi jsperelman2,
Congratulations on new 09 MDX. I am planning also to purchase same configs.
Where did you purchase the accessories from. You mentioned a local ebay store dealer. Can you let us know the name?

    All,
What you guys feel about the market. After this Acura incentive is over on 5th Jan,09, still the market is going to be same. Will Acura give more incentives than now or If plannning to purchase anyway, is it better to purchase now?
    Thanks

I purchased the accessories from the dealer I bought the car from. This was easiest as some will be installed (running boards, luggage rack) before I pick it up on Tuesday. I found the ebay store of another NJ dealer which was nearby. http://stores.ebay.com/Ryans-Open-Road-Acura-Of-Wayne_W0QQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2- el1247
They matched all the prices on here basically when including for Labor.

I'm also thinking about adding running boards. What is a reasonable price to negotiate for parts plus installation? Did you negotiate a flat installation price for everything, or was it part-by-part?
