I am in the market for an 09 MDX. I know last month they had the 2k cash back and the special financing. My salesman told me I missed out and they usually have this special deal after the holidays. I never really shopped for an Acura before but is this true? I don't believe so but just want others who are familiar with Acura deals. I am not in a rush to buy at all. I would like to wait til this current deal is over in February and see if they will bring both specials back. Any opinions are appreciated.
You can get either the 2k cash back or the special financing (but not both) through Feb 2nd--at one point you could get both, but thats long gone.
The MDX's continue to sell surprisingly well, and Acura cut production due to economic concerns for the next couple of months--so chances are pretty good once the current offer is up Feb 2nd, it will be quite awhile before a similar incentive pops up again, probably not until the end of the year at the earliest, as MDX's may be harder to come by for a period of time this year. This is all conjecture on my part, but I'm probably going to buy one this weekend, as it looks like Honda is going to temporarily at least turn it into a sellers market for the MDX.
I just got off the phone with Tim at hondacuraworld.com and purchased a 96month, 120k mile, $0 deductible acuracare warranty for my mdx for $1915. He is overnighting the paperwork to me (just as he did with my 05). It is truly an amazing price. I have a good friend who is a service manager at a local Honda store and he checked the pricing for me - they are selling it at their cost. (and there is no sales tax which my local store wanted to charge me). They are actually losing money when you consider the credit card fees and overnight fees to get the contract to you. (and no, I'm not affiliated with hondacuraworld in any way, just a happy customer - I'm in Indiana, and they're somewhere farther east ??New York or New Jersey??)
mjfloyd1, I'm also from Indiana. What MDX trim did you buy , for how much and where did you buy it? Ed Martin gave me the best qoute so far but I haven't bitten the bullet yet.
I am thinking that Acura may have to extend their incentives at the end of Febuary, when lexus starts to discount the 2009 RX350. I believe the 2010 Lexus RX should be in the dealers showrooms sometimes in March. Just my 2 cents on the subject.
I bought my 05 and traded my 05 for an 08 - all at Lindsay Acura in Columbus Ohio. Call and ask for Brook. I got an 08 with the tech pkg and paid 36250 for the new one and they gave me 15000 for the 05 touring with 54k miles. On the new one, I did have them put on the sport side steps and the all weather mats and cargo tray. I paid a little under $900 if I remember correctly for the accessories installed. The only bad part is that they charge a $275ish fee for the documents. I'm in Bloomington and I did the deal over the phone and met him in Richmond. One of the most painless transactions that I've had.
The price for the Tech package seems to be in line with other quotes that have been posted on this thread. Are the quotes OTD or do you still have TTL to pay?
Also, how does the standard sound system compare to the upgraded one? I'm weighing my options and the base model may be the way I go. Would rather get the Tech package but don't know if it's worth a $4K upgrade. Don't really need Nav system.
Not sure how the upgraded sound system compares to the standard but I didn't think it was all that until I loaded up the DVD audio that came with it and just blew me away with the clarity and the sound imaging of the 5.1 surround material. XM and FM sound fine and my MP3's sound very good as well. All in all, the system has much better sound than any vehicle I've driven, factory or aftermarket. The NAV comes in handy but I really can't do without the backup camera and it actually saved me last week (2nd week of owning it) when I had to back up on the street and didn't see an Integra behind me. When I looked up in the mirror (like I normally do in my previous sedans/coupes) I didn't see anything and on whim, I just looked at the backup camera and there was a car! There's also been talk on these forums about how some have found the stock tires on the base model to be somewhat poorer (vs the ones on the TECH) as well so you may want to factor that in. Wow, sounds like I'm really pushing the TECH huh? I'm not but check around on this forum and also acuramdx.org. You can read up a ton on people's experiences with both and extrapolate the information you need. I didn't think I was going to miss the powertailgate until the last 2 grocery runs (I had an 09 TECH loaner for a week while my 08 was in the shop) but was it worth the extra $? Probably not.
It's from Acura of Boston. I live in Florida but I wanted to see if they would give the same deal or better that someone posted about earlier this month. They did so I contacted my local dealer to see if they'll match it. I'm asking for '09 MDX Tech w/ body side molding & destination fee included for $38,400. I'll report back if they match the deal.
Make sure u get it in writing or print out email before u go in. I made the mistake of going to a dealer with a verbal agreement and they would honor the price they quoted over the phone.
I just got a quote on a 39 month lease, 10k miles per year, $1,990 down 51% residual and a money factor of 0.0032. MSRP=$47350 and he told me he would price the car at $41,400. This all equates out to $650 per month. I am in Dallas, Texas.
I'm looking at a certified 2006 mdx with 43K miles, dealer has it on his web inventory for $20k, clean carfax report.
This seems like a pretty good deal, will dealers negotiate on these certified vehicles? If so, can anyone give me a guideline on what to expect (5,10%...)

Received a lease quote today from a local dealer here in Westchester NY for a base 2009 MDX.
$488.00 per month MSRP $41,550.00 39 months, 12k miles per year. Excess mileage 0.18 per mile. Cap reduction of $595.00 (which I’m going to negotiate) MF: 0.00216 Res: 52%/$21,606.00
They didn’t supply me with the selling price (will find out tomorrow when I visit the dealership), but invoice on the base model is around $37k. I realize you’re talking a model wit the Tech package, but if he}s quoting OTD at $41,400.00, you should be able to do better than $650.00 a month.
Do you mind posting the numbers once you finalize your deal? I am currently looking for a base model, 15K per year with $0 down, and the quotes that i am getting are around $600 (this includes taxes). I am in northern NJ, so i wouldn't mind travelling to Westchester if there is a better deal there.
MDX 09 Tech + Entertainment for $40.4K including destination charge at Precision Acura, NJ. $40398.00 Purchase Price $ 2827.86 7% Sales Tax $ 354.00 4 yr. Motor Vehicle $ 161.60 Supp. Tax $ 189.00 Doc. fee ----------------------------------- $43937.96 Total out the door
What model did you purchase for that price? Was that OTD?
The dealership called me today and accepted the offer I made for '09 Tech pkg w/ body side molding and destination fee for $38,400. They'll be receiving the car later this coming week. I hope there isn't any funny business when I go look at the car. Though I'm prepared just for that.
I paid $38,400. for MDX Tech including destination no added options + NJ tax and dealer fees (which were the same with every dealer). I purchased the car on December 31st at Acura of Ramsey in North New Jersey with the 2.9 financing.
I went in knowing all the incentives Acura offered and offered them 38,400. and they accepted offer with no counter offers.
Glad I stumbled on this great forum. I'm just about to buy an '09 MDX tech or sport, (still can't decide which.), but was pleasantly surprised at the deals some of you have gotten. I live in RI, so Acura of Boston sure looks like a contender. Do you have the best luck by submitting an offer or by asking the the various dealers for their best shot? thanks for any info
Don't submit an offer first. Go to edmunds.com or Vehix.com and get a free price quotes from various dealers all at once. It helps to indicate exactly what u want. From that point on u will get multiple offers. Take the lowest price and reply to all of them with that price to see if they can beat it. Keep going till u get the best price then negotiate them further.
Some things to remember. 1. Put your phone number down to let them know your serious. 2. Tell them you will buy immediately. Of course u won't be. 3. Always be nice with emails and verbally. U never know if one deal falls through u need to go back.
I negotiated a base model MDX for $35,300 but left feeling unsure about the deal - the dealer wouldn't budge on accessory pricing and said no .9% or 2.9 %financing at this price - an incentive finance fee in my area right now (NY/CT) - anyone have any input?
Like someone else mentioned, you'll probably want to send out notice for some quotes and go from there. There are 2 or 3 dealers in MA that are always eager to deal. just like i had preconceived notions (i.e. not good) of Acura 5 years ago before i test drove the TL, i never did think i would deal with a dealership near boston. Their internet dept was however the most willing to offer a decent non-MRSP quote; if i remember correctly, prime acura also gave a better quote, the only problem was their location from where i was. I used this better quote from Prime, was comfortable paying around that number (invoice minus acura incentives); then called Acura Boston and that the started the "what will make you come into the dealership game". a few hundred below my lowest quote was offered and i took a chance since i was going into the city anyway.
Things to note:
1. don't expect your phone conversation to be "remembered" correctly. you'll have to start negotiations again once you get there.
2. don't start adding accesories after agreeing to a price for the vehicle - they WILL jack you on these things.
3. dont' buy the acura remote-starter (it blows). they will try to sell you a warranty (ironically, they'll try to jack you on this but acura of boston (aka bernardi acura actually has the best online warranty price, read up on the options and get them to offer their online price or buy it later with a credit card).
4. don't be afraid to walk out. i realized in midstream negotiations that i was getting jacked on accessories (mistook prices for the wrong step boards) and actually just left (had to pick up a friend at the airport and didn't have time to re-start negotiations). they called me every hour on the hour after i left and i ended up making a deal over the phone instead (and they kept their end of the bargain when i drove back in just before they closed that day).
an online rep just forwarded me this when I told him that I have read posting of people paying 38,400 for this car... 09 MDX with technology package, MSRP $45,800.00, Dealer invoice $41,685.00, manufacturer's dealer cash back $2000.00 net dealer cost $39,685.009 ( the promotion is either $2000.00 cash or special financin0.9% 36 month or 2.9% 60 month) majority of our clients use the cash rebate.
The postings on line are not acurate and they never tell you if the car was demo with miles on or any other issues with them. The numbers you shared with me is about $ 1,600.00 under invoice with the body side moulding. We will work with you on the price and specially if you have your TL to trade. We will make you happy with the deal and most importantly we have the best service and suport for you.
You can reply to the dealer that the 7000+ posts on here are probably all made up JK! Dealers will say what they have to say to make their profit (and I'm sure more than a few buyers will say what they have to say to save some $). There are certainly some variables that can increase the pricing or decrease which can include region, demand, how much the dealer is willing to eat into their holdback, etc. The dealer's advantage is that he/she has the MDX you like and knows how much he/she is willing to let it go for and how much he/she is willing to give you for your TL but your big advantage, well hopefully depending on what region you are in, is competition. Hopefully, you have several dealerships within a geographic location you are comfortable with traveling to and finding out who can match the 38400 or if not, how close they will come to it. Once you have it on email, that's your quote and now you have a chip you can then work other dealers.
I had several dealers tell me the same thing, that sites like these were not accurate yet they still gave me the quote I was asking for which I then used to leverage a few other dealers. What became more of an issue for me was that I had a hard time getting acceptable trade in value for my car so you may want to bring that TL to several Acura and non-Acura dealerships to get the approximate trade in value (KBB is virtually no help btw.) and ideally on paper too. Depending on how old the vehicle is, they may wholesale it or sell it on the lot, you'll get the best price for it typically if they are selling it on the lot, at least it certainly did for me. The 4 dealers that were planning on wholesaling my 2006 S40 were only going to give me 8-10k for it (which btw, was 4-5k less than KBB at good condition when I thought mine was excellent) but where I ended up getting my MDX, they were planning on selling it there and gave me 12k which by the time I bought the MDX was actual KBB.
Work the MDX and the trade in separately unless you know the NET you are ok with (Your desired selling price of the MDX minus your desired trade in value of the TL). Here in California we don't have sales tax breaks for trade-in (at least I don't think we do!) so its a relatively easy calculation but if you live in a state where you do, that should be factored in. Good luck!
Dealer will say what they have to...take it with a big grain of salt...also take the postings here with a "small pinch" of salt.
Lot depends on the dealers overhead, presence of other direct competitors (other Acura Dealers) and indirect competitors (Infiniti, Audi, etc).
Having said that back in sept I bought 08 MDX with tech and power tailgate for 35746 + TTL (38.8K OTD). I test drove the car couple of times at the local dealer in in San Diego, CA. When I was ready to buy the car I sent emails from the dealers website to all dealers within 200 miles.
Acura of mission Vejio (70 miles) came back with the above quote. I contacted local dealer and told him that I am willing to give him 35746 + 500 = 36246 +TTL for all his time and for my time to not drive 70 miles each way.
After three days of thinking and back and forth bickering about prices local dealer said he cannot do it...
This is what probably happened... 1) Local dealer has very high overhead 2) San Diego has less competition compare to orange county & south LA 3) Large volume dealers are more willing to go into holdback.
After my deal was done my salesman did say that "ON PAPER" we lost money on this car...but you know it as well as I do that its not the case. The dealership has made money as they are paying for the showroom/salaries etc.
So may be your local dealer has high overheads etc. Look at cars direct.com and if you are within 500 to 1000 of carsdirect price I will buy it....
I live in western mass and have a lease that ends in 11 months. I want an mdx with at least the sport package. can you tell me which dealers in mass to try with for reference? you can do it via PM if necessary. thanks in advance. its a desert out on this end of the state for acura.
I read on vtec.com there will be minor model changes on the MDX when the 2010's come out in August. Does anyone have any specific details? I'm curious if the PTG will be available on the base model. If I know what specifically is changing I may wait until this summer to purchase an MDX.
I live in Northern Virginia...and I am within a half hour of 3 or 4 dealerships..I spoke to a internet person in Gaithersburg Maryland, he had offered 38,400 a couple of weeks ago...and wasn't sure if he could still offer that...but said it would be close...I negotiated accessories at the internet prices....I am supposed to get back to him at the end of next month..he did not mention the financing which I want to take advantage of... I need to sell my '06 TL and am going to go to carmax to see what they will offer...I really appreciate the feedback I got from yesterday's post
Anyone here from the Mpls area who has recently bought a 2009 MDX? Dealer is trying to tell me that sale prices here are higher than out East or on the West Coast. Says they cannot go as low as prices posted here for New Jersey and Boston.
that's a great deal....for the dealer. I think the established target price for 09 mdx with tech is 38.4k before TTL. I closed a deal at that number in the end of december and got the .9% financing along with it in the bay area, although I think you can no longer combine the two incentives at this time. Economy is going nowhere so I'd bargain harder. Good luck.
Minneapolis Area: Lowest quote I have been able to get:
2009 MDX w/tech: 40,300 plus TTL (This takes into account the $2,000 back from Acura)
We also were going to add towing pkg. roof rails, and all-weather mats. Those came to another $1900 and they were going to charge us $1533 for them.
So with the accessories our total would come to $41,833.
We offered them $40k for everything and they would not take it, did not even counter with another offer. Told me that the economy in Mpls. is not like the East Coast.
This deal would have to be closed yet this month. Dealer told us that incentives from Acura for February are not as much.
I would hold out...the dealer wants to sell a car this month; they've got numbers to meet.
Somehow I doubt the MDX will be receiveing a lesser incentive as the model-year grows older...since 2005, the incentives for this car have only gotten greater as time goes on.
Can anyone who has recently purchased a 2009 MDX advise as to what finance rate you received after taking advantage of the 2000 k cash back to manufacturer on the sale price? I am led to believe that if the cash back is used then you aren't eligible for the 0.9% - 2.9% financing. Please advise if you can . Thanks
When I bought my Pilot in 07 they supposedly were not combining cash back and low interest but during the President's Day sale weekend they did. Maybe wait two more weeks????
I am in Northern Virginia...can someone explain to me what the 2000 cash back means...I have been reading these posts and it is a bit confusing to me...does the dealer get that money from the manufacturer and then lower the car by that amount or is it just for the dealer so that he will give you a better price... and sorry for all the questions, but what does the .9% financing have to do with the price...thanks in advance...

Thanks!!
I'm also from Indiana. What MDX trim did you buy , for how much and where did you buy it? Ed Martin gave me the best qoute so far but I haven't bitten the bullet yet.
