Bought a Certifeid 2011 MDX TECH Package with 6K Miles for $43000 OTD. Looking at the advertised prices around Chicago area, I think I got a pretty decent deal. Any Comments?

Can anyone recommend a good dealer in the New York Tri-State Area? I'm looking to buy a new MDX with either Tech or Advance Package. This is my very first car purchase so I'm really scared and excited at the same time. Def don’t' want to be taken for a fool and to the cleaners at the same time.

Thanks for any advice you all can give. Tips on how to negotiate would be helpful.

I think you got a great deal for your car. 6k miles that saved you 5k grands which is well worth it. I wished I could see one of these opportunities, but too bad. I ended up with 2011 MDX Tech/Ent package for 50k OTD.

do your intensive research on a MDX trim that you like before dealing with dealers. Especially, you are brand new to the car purchase experience. They can tell by the way you talk. The bottom line is knowing your target price for the car and do not pass your limit line. Never think you would miss the deal because if you do, you will regret of your aggressive decision later on.

We are living in a 21st century. It is not necessary to purchase a car near by your house. You can always expand your buy to other areas like your neighbor state or even 2-3 thousand miles away if a price is below market and your target price.

Like mine, it is 800.00 dollars below invoice not only that my local dealerships always want at least 1500.00 dollars above invoice price. One of my local Acura dealership wanted 49k for 2011 MDX Tech/Ent package. For 2011 MDX Tech w/o ent, they wanted 44900.00 without additional accessories.

Sorry for too much story, but it helps you find the right one and saves you money too. Good luck1

Can you tell me the price before tax and fees, and where you bought it from? Thanks! Was it a brand new car or a demo?

I liked working with DCH Acura in Montclair- got the best pricing of 4 different dealers in North Jersey area and by far the easiest to work with. Leased a 2011 Tech for 500 over the invoice price at the time. So if you are going to look out in NJ- then I would head to DCH.

I recently starting shopping for an MDX. This past weeked we finally decided on what color we wanted. We are looking for a Dark Cherry Pearl Tech w/Parchment interior

I had been dealing with a saleswoman at the local Acura dealership. After sending an email, she called back with a price that was approx $1500 more than the TMV price on Edmunds.

When I told her the price seems high, she reminded me there was an Earthquake in Japan and that it is affecting inventory of MDXs. She then advised me that Acura had a meeting this morning with all their managers telling them about this and I should see this increase across all Acura dealerships.

Does anybody know anything about this?
  • bhavi_jpbhavi_jp Member Posts: 6
Yep. I thought so. I believe being the last day of the month also helped a bit. I was searching for this price range for 2011 models since last 5 weeks. Surprisingly the dealers were not budging on price very much except this one.
  • bhavi_jpbhavi_jp Member Posts: 6
Same exact BullCr@p one of the dealer gave me a week back. Nothing has changed since then price wise. If anything, I saw a couple of dealers lowered listing price on MDXs.
  • jensadjensad Member Posts: 388
Souns like th same old tap dance by dealers. We purchased an RL several years ago and out local dealer "would not budge". So i sent out emails to the Acura dealers within a 200 mile radius. The other dealers most were able to quote me a lower offers.

Just a day before my wife and I was going to travel about 75 miles to purchase an RL, our local dealer called and after a brief conversation the sales manager said he could sell me the exact same vehcile for about $ 2500 less than the other dealers. So we saved $ 2500 which we are using this spring to travel the country and visit with our son and family in Illinois.

Good luck to all and stay safe (and my advise only, stick to your guns re: price)

The MDX is manufactured in Alliston, Ontario.

As far as I know the earthquake did not reach Canada.

    Try another dealer.

Looking to buy one by the month end. Am on Long Island but willing to travel to upstate/NJ for the right price. I have received quotes around $46.5k - $47k in Nassau which seem abnormally high considering what some of you have posted. Anyone have suggestions for dealerships with the right price? Please share your experience/insights. Thanks!

I'm in the Chicago area and just started looking. Would you mind letting me know which dealer you bought this from? Thanks.
  • nervexnervex Member Posts: 4
Thanks for the reply. Is the price with destination?

I live in east coast, can some one with recent buying experience shed some light on it?

Think about pulling the trigger in the next couple of weeks if the price is right.

What do you all think about this deal:

MDX w/Advance, Advance running boards, black roof rails and cross bars
    $50,600
    36mo lease
    12k mi

Monthly payment $700 (includes destination) + TTL

They also gave me tinted window for $100 and threw in all weather mats for "free"

    How did I do??
  • vinh36vinh36 Member Posts: 20
That is incredible low price. Great deal!
  • firsttimeleasefirsttimelease Member Posts: 5
That sounds incredibly low. Are you leasing or financing?

The best price I got for the Advance pkg (w/o Entertaintment) was $49,300 plus $1300 for roof rails/crossbars and the Advance running boards. Total $50,600 (incl destination) plus TTL

    You should take that deal!!
  • firsttimeleasefirsttimelease Member Posts: 5
Well I guess I should have clarified that this did not include first month payment +bank fee+bank fee tax+sales tax etc which was about another $3k. Still a decent deal??

I had an even better deal at another dealer:

$49400 (incl. destination), roof rails/crossbars, Advance running boards +TTL
Monthly payment $679 so less $900 in total payments. First month + bank fee +bank fee tax, sales tax was about $3k though.

But they didn't have the color I wanted :(

Yesterday I signed a lease offer for 2011 MDX with tech package, I traded in my 04 maxima for 7.5K towards down payment and all fees (First month lease + Bank doc fee + DMV + admin Fee etc). My monthly lease payment including tax is $400 for 36 months, 12K/year. Wondering if this is a good deal or not?

    Thanks,

I got prices (pre-tax - including all fees) from various dealers in NY - Paragon ($45,600), Westchester ($45,400), Island Acura (mid $45k - over the phone), Valley Stream ($46,600), Rallye ($46,300 - over the phone). Are these prices good enough to bite or should I expand my search area? I would like to purchase the car this month and need to know whether the price is any good since I have heard some of you have the SUV around mid $44k range. Please share your experience/suggestions. Thanks!

It's a brand new 2011 base model, $38000 (desti included), from Acura Riverside CA.
  • nyccarguynyccarguy Member Posts: 17,528
Not sure where you are located, but most places seem to be giving the same price. We bought our 2010 TSX at Island Acura & we service @ Acura of Westchester.

I just started shopping around in Queens NY, went to one dealer, they tried to steer me towards a white advance w/tech for 52K. Passed since I still had much research to do. I called dealership and they told me a Base would be $40.1K and a Tech for $42.5K. Should I wheel and deal with them or keep searching? I want to add stuff like the protection package, roof rail, and bike rack on the back.... Looking forward to some advice!! Thanks!
  • kushboykushboy Member Posts: 9
Hi vinh36, did the 50k OTD include any accessories? Also can you mention the dealership/sales mgr? thx

    Hi All,

Could you please advise what is a good price for these two models this month? I'm located in Queens, NY, thanks!!!

    MDX Base and Tech

    Hi Kushboy,

No accessories included except all season floor mats and wheel locks.

    Herb Connolly Framinham, MA.

    hope it helps.

    2011 MDX Base: 39990 +TTL

    2011 MDX Tech/without Ent: 42700 +TTL

Check around your neighbor states. It is not necessary to purchase a car near by your home if an asking price low after shipping and docs fee. Tax and License will be paid at your state.
  • kushboykushboy Member Posts: 9
Jeff offered me the same deal as yours - $44.9k for the 2011 Tech/Ent incl. all season floor mats + $400 doc fees + Taxes. This is quite close to what I am getting locally so its not worth it for me to get the car from 300 miles away. Thanks for all the info and your prompt responses.
  • nervexnervex Member Posts: 4
    My local dealer offer me:

MDX Base for $39k + TTL
    w/Tech for $42.8k + TTL

    So I live in PA.

I think you can do better.
  • vinh36vinh36 Member Posts: 20
Sure, if it is close to what your local dealership offered, then reconsider the offer. In case your local price is way too high then consider far away deal.

The deal that I got from Jeff was way below my local dealerships offered. So, it worked for me, but not necessary works for others.

    Good luck with your search.

Just did the deed - 2011 MDX Tech+Ent $45100 + Accessories + Taxes ~ Just under $52k. Was the best deal in NJ/MA & NY. Thanks Vince for all your info. Pickup scheduled for Monday! Can't wait ...

I am getting close to buying an MDX. My local dealer is asking me for the dealership with the lower offer and the exact offer. They told me they have to have this info before making me an offer. I told them it's none of their business. Anyone else come across this?
  • jensadjensad Member Posts: 388
Three years ago that was tried on me when I purchased my RL. I told the local dealer that "I asked for your best price because you are competing against 6 other Acura dealers and the one that can sell me the vehicle I want at the lowest price of the six dealers, I will then purchase it from that dealer".

They were not happy but they gave me the lowest price. I saved 18 % off sticker price. I will do this again now as my wife is looking for an mdx with tech or advanced. I will wait patiently and email the 6 again. However, since our local dealer is "broken in" as to lowest price, we may be able to save time.

Good luck to all and stay safe.

That's a great price. I live in south east of PA. My local dealers within 100 miles can only offer me $39k + TTL.

So disappointed :-(
  • pauladkinspauladkins Member Posts: 15
18% off sticker would be awesome, but so far I am not getting anything near that. I am getting offers around $39250 for a base MDX no extras.
  • jensadjensad Member Posts: 388
My wife wants to purchase an MDX with tech or with advanced in the next two or three weeks. I will let you know how I do as I will start this week end to send out emails to dealers. And I will revisit our local dealer to see if he/she can cut throught the b.s. and do the deal she wants.

I had to remind myself when we got the RL, to not be the fish that snaps at the salmon egg and be reeled in to the signing of the contract I don't want to sign.

No matter whether we purchase an MDX here or in Illinios after we drive to see our family this summer we will just be patient.

Good luck to all and I hope all of you get an excellent deal with an excellent car.

Cost including Protection package #1: $39,169
Other Accessories: Cargo cover ($135), Side molding ($250), Cargo organizer ($70).
    3% NC sales tax ($1200.69)
    Title Fees : $ 67.36
    Doc fees: $399
    Tags etc: $100

    Total OTD: 41,391.05

Let me know how I did with the pricing.
    Good luck to everyone else.
  • vinh36vinh36 Member Posts: 20
    Hello Thakus,

You did great on the price. That is the price that should be for the MDX base model.

You live in NC where sale tax is incredible low compare with WA state sale tax at 9.9%.

    Great buy.
  • bhavi_jpbhavi_jp Member Posts: 6
The Doc Fee seems a bit high though. I am not sure about NC but in Illinois $160 is the norm.

Hope this helps someone. Just bought the 2011 MDX Tech & Entertainment on 4/15/11 for $43,700 including $860 destination. We didn't buy the Acura Care extended warranty, but are considering it. Has anyone gotten their money's worth from Acura Care? Is it worth it?
