Have an option to buy a 2015 435i xdrive Gran Coupe (dealer demo), what would be the lease rates for this car for 24 or 36 months (12K miles). How does lease cash work with a dealer demo? Thanks!

.00130 MF and 68%/62% residual. $1000 buildout cash.

A dealer demo should qualify for the new car programs. But, the residual will be reduced for the current mileage on the vehicle. So, you need to get a much lower selling price to offset the lower residual.

I was quoted 55% residual for 36 mo 10k for a 2016 428i gran coupe xdrive.  Is this accurate?  What is it for 12k?

Thanks!  Does that mean 58% or 60% for the 10k lease?  This is definitely for the 2016 right?  If so, is a dealer allowed to vary the residual value?  I thought RV was not variable and set nationally?

I was offered the following deal yesterday in Florida on a 2015 BMW 428i Gran Coupe:

    MSRP: $44,950
    Sale Price: $42,950
    Residual: 63%
    MF (with MSD's): .00099
    Monthly payment: $515.

Thoughts on whether this is a good deal? What kind of discount from MSRP should I expect on a 2015 gran coupe versus 2016?

Base MF with 7 MSDs is .00085. Did you only make 5 MSDs?

If sale price is also the CAP cost, I get $477/mo.+tax.
What else is due at signing besides the MSDs and the 1st payment?

$2000 isn't much of a discount, considering the $1000 incentive. End of the model year, I'd want 7% off then subtract the $1000. So, more like $40,800 for a sale price.

For November, the MF dropped a bit to .00131 but the 36/15 residual went up to 58%, so the payment, all else being the same as above, is now $641.03/mo.

I don't track selling prices, so can't tell you if there is more of a discount to be had. Generally, 5-7% off sticker is pretty good for BMW.

Hey Mods! Long time no see - thanks for continuing to help us out. I am seeing a discrepancy between my numbers and the dealers. Hoping you can help me out!! Here we go:

    2015 428i X-Drive Gran Coupe Demo
    Miles: 3,046
    MSRP: 54,095
    Sales Price: $44,967
    Term: 36 months
    Miles: 10k p/year
Residual: $32,488 (.6006 - takes into consideration residualized miles)
    Sales Tax: 7%
Money factor: .00131? I don't know because payment is off on my end
Payment: $455 (I am getting $448.10 - no taxes or fees included)

    Doc fee: $395
    Bank Fee: $925
    Govt: $158
    First month payment
    Taxes
    Total at signing: $3,175

These numbers were given to me, but I have two other scenarios from them printed off their blue screen. They add up from the numbers provided on the screen - but when I run the deal i am getting different taxes and payment. . They are only off by $8-10 dollars, and I still think this is a good deal, but want to know where those dollars are missing.

Appreciate if you could help me out. Thank you!

Apparently the lease is padded - they told me up front, the $7 bucks is for their F&I manager as a "commission." Not going to kill the deal over it, but does this sound accurate?

    What state and tax rate?

You should really ask for the adjusted CAP cost, to see what you are really paying. $7/mo. is a pretty small markup, if that's all it is... but, it might be bigger than that. Ask what money factor is being used

    NJ - 7%

Thanks - they marked it up .0001. They were very transparent about it once I asked about the discrepancy.

I dealt with the advisor for a while, and found a deal at another dealer. I wanted to do the deal at this shop. I had the salesperson, his manager, the general sales manager, and GM involved in original negotiations. They basically said they buy demo's to make a direct profit - regardless the magnitude of that profit. Brand new cars they can blow out since they it's a different structure. They ran the deal a number of different ways in front of me to get creative in order to make the deal acceptable to the GM. They only had the car for 30 days (confirmed by carfax), and it was a very desirable build. They said they understand if the deal didn't work, and if I wanted to walk. I did my research, they probably would have gotten a better deal selling it to someone else - but a bird in hand is worth two in the bush,

Gotta pick battles - especially if you come across the exact car at a price that is unlikely anywhere else. This time it was the exception, not the rule.

Thanks for following up. Still don;t know why the tax was higher, though.

Went in to a BMW dealership today and was offered the following two offers. One was based a corporate program and the second was the dealers best offer.
    2016 BWM 428i with an MSRP of $46,455 for a 36 month / 12k lease:

    Dealership Deal
    Cap. Cost Red - $6,273
    Residual - 59%
    MF - .00172
Monthly Cost (taxes incl.) - $542

    Corporate Program Deal
    Cap. Cost Red - $5,474
    Residual - 59%
    MF - .00112
Monthly Cost (taxes incl) - $523

I knew the residual and MF going into the dealership. I'm not sure if anyone has used a corporate program before at BWM, but according to my paperwork it was supposed to be additional incentives in addition to the negotiated price. The negotiated price was basically the dealership deal above that was presented over email prior to me going into the dealership; however, when I got there they treated the dealership deal and the corporate program as two totally different things (e.g. it was either one of the other). Has anyone else used a corporate program to lease/buy a BWM? I'm curious of someone else's experience or if someone knows more about these corporate programs. Anyway, as you can see they jacked up the MF on the dealership deal.

Did you mean "discount from sticker" instead of "cap cost red"?

Dealers are in the business to make money. If they aren't inflating the MF, then I can (sort of) understand giving you a small discount.

However, neither deal looks all that great. What state and tax rate is this?

Thanks Michaell for the feedback. Yes you're right about the discount from the sticker price. I'm in CA at 9%. What do you think would be a good discount price and MF at this point. I know it doesn't help with the timing beings it was January 9th, but the dealer claims they are a high volume retailer. Do you think I should wait till the end of the month and try again at a few other dealerships?

If you wait until the last few days of the month and work with multiple dealers, that is probably your best chance for a good deal

    2015: 58%/56% residual. $1000 buildout cash
    2016: 59%/57% residual. $1250 option allowance
Thank you! Dumb question, but to the buyer is there any real difference between the Buildout Cash or the Option Allowance or are they both essentially just rebates?
No real difference; just different names.
I kind of assumed that but just wanted to confirm. Thanks again!

So here is what I'm being quoted...I'm having trouble matching up the payment numbers they're giving me. 2015 428i XDrive Gran Coupe - Technology, Premium, Cold Weather, Driver Assistance and M-Sport packages.

    MSRP: 54550
Sell Price: 46814 (they're a 'final price' dealer so no haggling...feel like it could be a little lower here but I guess it's already 14% off MSRP. And the guy was checking to see if the $1000 buildout cash you mentioned earlier was included in that $46814 price.)
    Cap Cost items-
    tax: 1037
    registration: 400
    doc fee: 129
    Cap Cost: 48380
    RV: 58%
    MF: 0.00132

I'm in Iowa but dealer is in South Dakota...so they say they're calculating the taxes and adding them to the cap cost then they'll send the $ to Iowa to cover the taxes...

So I'm coming up with a payment in the $565 - $570 range based on a few different calculators. They're quoting me $596. Which is essentially the payment I come up with + the tax rate.

Are they double taxing me in their calculations?

With your MSRP and net cap cost, I get $571/mo. Either the taxes are calculated up front and added to the cap cost (which is what's done here) or the taxes are applied to the monthly payment. Shouldn't be both.

I would check with the Iowa and SD departments of revenue to see how this should be handled. I wouldn't trust the dealer to know how to manage this.

Thanks for the quick reply. I felt like I was taking crazy pills and wanted to get someone else's opinion on this before I questioned it with the dealer. The ONLY other thing I can come up w/ is that they didn't include the destination cost ($995) in the vehicle price and didn't disclose it to me as a cap cost item. That # is similar to the taxes due and would potentially be the missing piece of the puzzle.

Dealers are notorious for juggling the numbers to confuse the customer. Make sure you understand every line item cost in the contract before signing.

I looked for a 2016 model year forum but couldn't find it, so I figured I'd post here...

Interested in leasing a 428i Gran Coupe. Can you help provide the residuals and money factors, assuming the following:
    - 2015 428i GC 24 mos, 10k miles and 12k miles
    - 2015 428i GC 36 mos, 10k miles and 12k miles
    - 2016 428i GC 24 mos, 10k miles and 12k miles
    - 2016 428i GC 36 mos, 10k miles and 12k miles

Do 435i GC's have the same residuals and MF's?

Also, do you know whether courtesy and service vehicles are eligible for the same RF, MF, and incentives as new cars? I'm sure the answer is "it depends", but how much of a discount do you think one could get if there's between 5k and 10k miles used (even if on a 2016 model)?

To the moderators, thanks so much for all of the help over the years. These forums haven't just saved me thousands of dollars, they've also removed stress from the car shopping experience. Much appreciated...

First, the MF is marked up. Base MF this month is .00135.

Second, we don't recommend making a down payment on a lease. If the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money.
