Silverado Z71 - Don't hate me because I'm beautiful.
Have to wait and see.

Hey, Sorry if I bother anybody with more pics. I love to see Chevy trucks..Period. Plus I hope looking helps the wait for others...or does it make it worse?...Hope not.
....The old Monty Python saying....If you don't like it..don't watch...

Dave40,
You gotta speed that puppy up boss....I'm posting pics this way so people can see them. it's taking like 15-20 minutes to load the entire page. Gotta be a better way somehow. Good idea though.
Ryanbab,
Look up a few posts...the newer style tailgate protector(at least what Mine came with) is in my last few pics. It's cleaner...but I kinda like the old one. Of course I show it off around here.....can't wait to show it the off pavement stuff soon too!
- Tim
NO bedliner yet. I haven't heard from anyone if the spray in type can take real abuse or not? I'm thinking that maybe they are just a disco type option? Hope not. I'm steering towards drop in under the rail with some kinds of rail protectors.

Harmon Auto Glass found the piece, making appointment now. Done. 9:00 am tomorrow.

Arapahoe County deputy filed the report, crime was criminal mischief.
Now if I find the squid who did it, I'll wrap the barrel around his pointy little head.
BTW, all the black trim pieces are why I think a dark color looks much better than a light color on these trucks. I have charcoal metallic and I love it.
Mike

Has anyone used the tracrac system?
Dealer said optional mirror with temp and compass is now standard on LT. I hope he is right.
Yes the compass/temp mirror is standard on an LT. Mine came with it.
Nerf bars:
I want a set also....but don't want them to hang down too far. they are no biggee to install. I hear suburbans come with nuts welded in to the frames now for GM accessories. all you do with nerf bars are hold them in place and drill a hole!....put in bolts..and walahh! I've been paying attention to trucks on the road more to see what I like for bars. Some of the slimmer running boards are OK too. But I think Nerf bars are the way for me
Good Luck

No, I'm not G. Richard Wagoner. But I did see his house when I visited my friend back in Michigan a few years ago.
My Chevy history dates back to my grandfather and 1926. My grandfather used to work in the service department of Chevy dealers in Missouri and later San Pedro, California. I still have some stuff in may garage that my grandfather used to use to service the cars. I sent G. Richard a list of all the Chevys my family has owned throughout the years (through my friend who does know him), and he sent back a Chevy flashlight and pocket knife.
I think we have owned every TYPE of Chevy ever made (not every model), including a '56 Nomad, 61 Corvair, '72 Vega (now THERE'S a car ...) ... I forget the exact number. My dad still wants to find and restore a '32 coupe -- HIS first car.

Undecided what color to get? My opinion: Get a dark color. At least it looks good when you wash it. ...Actually all the Silverado/Sierra colors look great--its just a matter of preference.
Quadrunner look at it this way - a new window and it's brand new again. If you had taken a hit in a body panel, it'd never be the same again - the paint wouldn't exactly match or there would be some kind of imperfection.
LOL.
What was actually even more of a bummer was that my wife backed my Blazer into the corner of a brick building this morning, (same day) and creased the bumper. She didn't tell me about it. I asked her if my brother borrowed the truck over the weekend (I was gone), she asked why, and I said well because it was hit. She said she did it, which surprised me since she usually comes forward and tells me. But whatever, windows, bumpers, in the larger scheme of things, they are just property, and can be replaced. The ones we love, we must cherish for each day we have them, because they can't be replaced.
One more thought. If you ever take a BB in the glass, remember to do what I forgot to...Don't slam the door. You can guess what happened next. Glad I got the picture first.
The indigo blue and charcoal are both high maintenance colors, along with black, but they are stunning, drop-dead gorgeous.
My Lt. Pewter looks the same whether clean or dirty. But you're right. With so many, I thought no one would notice. Must look good through a rifle sight!
Sorry to hear about the window Quad, where I live no one has a nice vehicle - so when I take possession of my truck and leave it parked outside, I was wondering if someone keyed it (which I would not be surprised, pissed but not surprised) if the alarm would go off so when we catch them in the act we could go out there and shoot them in the [non-permissible content removed].
planejane: alarm only sounds if a door(glass broke, lock jimmy'ed) is opened after being activated to my understanding, no motion sensor.

GWR - trailer harness plugs in to a port that is covered by a plastic cover that sits down by the parking brake. The port is near the upper left corner (actually one step to the right of the upper left corner) of this convience center. I didn't need the fuse as one was already in my fuse box for the trailer wiring.
Tenkosha has a detailed description of all this in recent inserts in their new brake controllers. Tenkosha is based in Wisconson I think and would probably send you their guide. The guide came in my "sentinal" model controller. The folks at the dealership don't have a clue.
The bill to Farmers Insurance was $279, against which they collected a $100 deductible from me. I had a glass replacement rider on my policy. Good, because my comprehensive deductible I think is around $1,000 otherwise. They charged labor on the invoice for 1.7 hours, even though they completed in 1.0 hours. Maybe they are allowed to use a rate book. But I don't know. Only amounted to $17 anyway. Glad I'm in a different business. The Glass shop was Harmon auto glass. Regards to all.
I used GM Buypower.com to buy my new Silverado. Absolutly the easiest purchase of a vehicle I have ever made. Anyone considering a new Chevy truck, or GM vehicle for that matter should check it out.
I am still pleased with my "Internet" truck (my co-workers have dubbed it with that name) even though with only 650 miles, will have the rear main seal replaced.
i like the grey (i see very few of them)....the pewter (the most popular color in georgia i am told) looks real sharp too.

True for mirror
Ryanbab,
Buy what you want...so you wash it a few times a week?.....For what we pay...isn't that worth it?
Dark colors show off the truck lines better.
Light colors everybody has cuz they are easier to maintain.....if you are not going to take care of it....then why buy it new?
My 2 cents
- Tim
I was going to say you don't see many of the charcoal trucks, but you noted that and so did another poster. The Dark Carmine Red Metallic is real sharp with the sunset gold metallic rocker panels, aluminum rims, medium oak cloth or leather. Don't see too many of those either. All the prettiest colors look the sharpest when they are clean. Pewter and white require slightly less maintenance, with dirt showing less on the Pewter. But, even I get tired of all the Pewter trucks, all but mine that is.
I guess you are correct about not getting sick of your own truck....regardless of color.
$1000 deductible on comprehensive? Mine is $0. The comp. portion of my insurance really isn't that high, so I never added an actual deductible. It's been that ay since I've been driving. Collision is $100 deductible (my dad actually has $50).
It's one reason I've stayed with State Farm. Most companies no longer offer the deductibles, and many others won't insure my '67 Camaro without a hassle.
Richard
But it's based on the loss experience the insurance carrier has for a particular area. In Colorado, we get quite a bit of hail. There may be other risk factors also. Same for collision.
But if all the risk exposure you can accept is $50 or $100 deductible, out here at least, you'll pay quite a bit more for your insurance.
State Farm is good. Farmers is another good one.
Allstate? Big hassle I'm told. Geico? That's government employees insurance corp. To know I don't want them is to read the name. They won't take you if you have a radar detector. I don't, but screw them anyway for asking. Progressive? Fine for a motorcycle or motorhome. Nice web site. But only talk to a computer. No one actually works for them.
Bucket Seats that have the "Cushion Tilt" and "Easy Entry" feature? (Mine does not) I also noticed there's no "lock tab/security feature" on the tail gate, nor any mention of it in the manual. Has GM discontinued this?
My truck has the charcoal paint, so far it's not too bad. The dirt showing isn't too blatant as with black and the truck looks real sharp (med gray interior).
The rear view mirror did not come with the self dimming and compass features. It does have the jumbo tailgate protector.
This truck was built the 1st week of August in Canada.
Tim,
Are you sure that the LS has the self dimming rear view mirror w/compass on the 2000? I know the LT does. The reason I ask is because I really wanted it, but didn't get it, didn't want to go crazy with all this electronic stuff that might break 3-4 years down the line. If it comes standard for sure, maybe I will get one. Cool.
I have State Farm too, they have been great so far, but never had a claim.
How did you hang on for your truck so long? I think you need to counsel me on the waiting period. I KNOW its entirely up to me, but how many weeks would you give up (or make threats) if you hadn't gotten an order #? Orig. order July 12! Almost 6 weeks ago.
%$#@&*!
Ryanbob - I got Charcoal Grey Metallic with med. grey interior. When are you ordering your truck? I thought you said next fall? And you're worried about color now? I'd place my order now, you will get it by next fall.
My 2000 LS does not have any special features on the inside mirror.
