Interested in the optional dealer installed front grille but cannot find a picture...anyone have a link to a picture to see if any better than the standard grille, which is not very pleasing on the eye!

After a bunch of research I found what I was looking for. The Hexomat Floor Mat. It is flexible and can be partially rolled up while the 3rd row seats are deployed. The fit was perfect. No it does not have lip like the OEM mat but lots of small crevices should catch most spills. One comment I have heard is the smell when new. Yes their is an rubber odor, but after a few days is has mostly disappeared. It was really no stronger than the new car smell.

Is there anyplace that I can get the side chrome molding insert and the integrated second-row sunshades that the 2009-10 touring models have? I purchased an EX-L and was just wondering if these can be added. I've asked a couple dealerships and looked at many online accessory stores, but no luck. Thought I would try here before giving up...

I bought a 2010 Honda Pilot EXL. I want to install overhead DVD system. Any suggestions?
Does the screen panel interfere with the line of sight of back mirror? Any experiences. How big screen would be good without blocking the view in the back mirror?

I have a2009 pilot XL. The specs indicate there is no OAT. Looking behind the front grill the sensor is installed. Is there any way to turn the OAT system on?

    Thanks

After searching online, I was able to find the side chrome molding insert from Auto Accessory Superstore (www.ronusa.com). They are very high quality and fit my '09 Pilot perfectly. We LOVE them! This company was great to work with and offered the best price around. If anyone is looking to add a nice touch to your new Pilot, I would recommend getting these. It really adds to the look of the Pilot! :shades:

I have not been able to find the integrated 2nd row sunshades anywhere. If someone finds those, please post!

Good - maybe you can set up your CarSpace page and post a couple of pics?

Here is a picture of the side molding we added. It's not the best picture, but we love the extra little style it adds and that it fits so perfectly. Hope that helps!

Can anyone tell me how much height is added to a 2009-2010 Pilot by adding the roof rails?

Any recommendation for flip down DVD system for 2010 Pilot?

I've done a bit of searching here, using various search strings but much to none avail besides College Hills Honda.

I am looking for steel or chrome sidesteps to be fit on a Pilot with some sort of illumination. The black plastic illuminated running boards don't seem to appeal to me.

Also, looking to add maybe some sort of chrome window trim.
Has anyone here had any experience with this?

This is for a 2010 Pilot.

I have an 08 Pilot with black side steps that I transferred from my previous 05 model. Will those same side steps fit on the new body style of the 10?
    Thanks

anyone have a pic of a 2009 -2010 honda pilot with a rear spoiler on it? I know bernardi has a good price on one. But i have never seen one on the new gen pilot. i recently just got a 2010 honda pilot exl-res 4wd and already installed the hitch wiring harness and the cross bars.... just wanted to see it to decide if I would get one. also need to order the black side steps and maybe a bull guard with a couple of nice PIAA lights and that should finish my project of at least tricking out my pilot.

    thanks in advance...... :)

Im thinking about going with the Nav system on a new Pilot. But, the main reasons I want it are the iPod controls, and the ability to playback a dvd (while moving too....for the wife in the passenger seat). Honda doesnt make it easy to install an aftermarket player, which is a bummer.

Anyway, will the NAV play DVD through the screen. Im sure it needs to be hacked (like everything else), but does it play dvd also? If it doesnt, I will probably pass on the nav screen. Thanks for the help!

Hi, Just bought a pilot touring and trying to finalize a few accessories. Pls comment so I can make the right decisions. thanks!

    1. Running board : Premium board
reason : Lighted boards were expensive and nerf bars didn't seem safe(kids feet could get inbetween)

    2. Side protector
Given touring has side molding, trying to figure out the best way to protect the doors from dings..
Vertically along the door edge, I could apply a clear tape. Is this the right approach? If so, which clear tape is good? (Vertical protection is to make sure I don't bang the door on something and get dings)
Horizontally, given the molding, what protection would work? (this is to make sure if someone else bangs their door on me, I don't get dings)

    3. Corner bumper protector :
I always have bruises along the edges of the bumper in my earlier cars. How do I protect? Given the parking sensor what works?

    4. Mats : Floor mats. Thinking of ordering from collegehillshonds

    5. Cargo mat : Don't know yet..may be college hills

    commentsa ppreciated.
    thanks

I have a 2010 Pilot Touring 4WD (Nav) -- it's a bummer that they don't include the roof rack cross bars in this package. Has anyone installed the cross bars themselves? If so, can you please rate the difficulty of doing so on a scale of 1 - 10 (10 = extremely difficult), and provide any tips learned from this experience? Thanks!

I had the dealer install the premium running boards (not lighted) and they look really good. They can support me without any problem and I'm a big guy. Absolutely necessary for small children entering and exiting the vehicle.

The i-pod integration on the Touring model is awesome! I recently rented a Hyundai Santa Fe on a trip to Utah and ipod integration in this vehicle was lousy. When I first tried the system in the Pilot Touring I was sold -- you can do just about everything you can do on your i-pod through the NAV control system in the Pilot. That, combined with the bluetooth capability is worth the money in my opinion.

I installed the rails myself and it was pretty easy. You just need to make sure that you install them facing the correct direction or they'll whistle at anything over 30 MPH. My instructions showed that there was an arrow on the bottom that showed which way should face forward, but when I looked at the rail there was no arrow.

    Hi,

I just bought a Honda Pilot 2010 and I was wondering if any of you guys have installed an aftermarket dvd nav. if so, from where and what did you guys install?

    Thanks

Without caps, my screen name looks like a brand of adult diapers.

The ends are marked L and R, so you can't install them backwards unless you try to install them upside down! Only problem was self-tapping screws that prevent loosened bars from sliding too far forward. Needed as much elbow grease as I could muster. $132, $149 with tax and shipping from H and A. Got them the next day.

I had the dealer install the lighted side steps on our '10 PIlot EX-L. I noticed a 1/2 to 3/4 gap between the steps and the rear wheel wells. Deal said that this is necessary to keep the steps from rubbing against the paint. Any thoughts on this?

I have 2008 Honda Pilot with NAV. One of my frineds gave me a DVD player that they use in Lexus SUV's. Does anyone know if that is compatible with Honda Pilots? I would appreciate your response. Thanks.
  • denver5357denver5357 Member Posts: 319
I have the same thing. Noticed the same gap. Didn't ask about it, yet, but that explanation is interesting. The front of the steps is tighter ... wouldn't that be a risk as well? I've just been monitoring it. I do like the steps.

Please tell me the website you ordered the Sidesteps from.
    thanks.

I bought second row sliding seats from a 2006 honda pilot. I bought these from extremewheelsandparts from ebay for less than $500.00 -this included shipping directly to my front door!! .
The seats bolted directly in place of the ones I took off. It was a gamble but it paid off. I now have sliding second row seats in my 2003 pilot. The seats were the exact same color by the way, just not perforated.

There is a store in Atlanta that just installed a DVD system in my new 2011 Pilot. The name is Sound Sensations in Marrietta. They also sell Nav systems. In my opinion, some of the aftermarket ones are better in that you don't have the drop down screen, instead you get two dvd players in the head rests.

Being a former ISO Quality Inspector, I get picky about the quality and design of products, perhaps more so that the average person. Just bought an 011 Pilot two weeks ago, and I really like the vehicle, but I did feel stupidly compelled to buy two accessories directly from the dealer at the time of purchase. BOTH were a waste of money. Here's why, and what you can do to avoid this yourself:

    1. We bought the trailer wiring harness because we want to pull a small utility trailer. The P/N 08L91-SZA-100 costs 181.90 now, but ONLY accomodates a 7-pin RV trailer connection, not the typical 4-pin flat connector used by almost every single utility trailer out there. Ironically, after you install this "kit" which includes a controller, relays, two wiring harnesses and 7 fuses, you still have to go to Walmart and spend $12 to buy a friggin' adapter to adapt from a 7 pin round connector to a 4 pin flat connector. Given that this vehicle only can tow 4500 lbs, I don't know what Honda was thinking here... Do they think we are all gonna pull miniature travel trailers that weigh 4000 lbs? (Most decent travel trailers have a GVWR of 6000-10,000 lbs!). In any case for $182, why not include the $10 adapter you need for 95% of your towing needs?

Worse, this same item is available online at other dealers for a more reasonable price of $135! Or, you can get a scaled down after market version on Ebay for $50 that DOES accomodate a 4 pin flat connector.

Plus, it is a pain-in-the-[non-permissible content removed] to install this kit. Bolts don't easily line up with the threaded holes in the frame, and if you aren't careful, you can drop parts down inside your quarter panel from whence they will never return, but always rattle around... Honda Engineering needs to revisit the mounting of these parts, to make the installation more user-friendly.

Finally, what was really weird is that the dealer shipped these parts to my house, but they came without instructions intentionally, so I had to Google the installation instructions to do the work myself. And, you could not install this kit WITHOUT the instructions. Honda, what is up with that???

    2. We also bought the cargo cover. What a cheap looking piece of crap. Having owned several vehicles with cargo covers, this overpriced cargo cover is a flimsy piece of sh%$. Honda should be ashamed of the quality of the cover. It is really thin and won't even stay in place properly. Worse, I paid MSRP for it, but could have bought it online for 30% less! Argh.

    3. Running boards are not user-installable. If you check out the highly overpriced running boards from Honda, please be aware that you can buy them online at a great discount. However, Honda, in what must be a clever trick to ensure that these are a dealer-installed item, left out the threaded screw fittings on the undercarriage, and you must get a SPECIAL TOOL to install these threaded fittings yourself. The tool is Part# LEM722M8, and can be "bought" as a "loaner" item from some dealerships, thank goodness. The key point, though, is that OTHER MANUFACTURERS DO NOT DO THIS. My Isuzu came with the threaded sockets pre-installed, and you could buy the running boards from the dealer or online.

In a nutshell, if you want to "pimp out" your Honda Pilot, you really do need to shop around, and by shopping online, particularly on Ebay, you can save hundreds of dollars vs. buying accessories at Honda dealerships. If you're handy, this may be the best option for you.

Does anyone know if there will be a model change coming for the Pilot. I was to switch from my Odyssey "Man Van" to the Pilot but I really want the middle row to have bucket seats (like the Acadia). Would prefer to buy another Honda but if there is no easy access to the 3rd row I am leaning towards the Acadia.
  • poodog13poodog13 Member Posts: 320
The current model is just a few years old (2009) and so I doubt a new one is forthcoming.

I had to upgrade the lights on my '06 since one of the bulbs on the LB's finally bit the dust. I was toying with the idea of upgrading to the HID's and getting really good candle power, but with the off-roading / water fording I do, they wouldn't have survived.

I ended up getting the Sylvania SilverStar Ultra bulbs and changed them out myself (very easy) and all I can say is WOW. :surprise: If you think the Pilot has low power lights as standard wait till you see the difference if you upgrade. :shades: The new lights are really clear and bright and makes night / rain drivng much better. We had a massive foggy night the other night and I got to try out the new lights. I did not need to use the fog lights. Can't wait to get them off-road.

Silver Stars do have a very bright light but the downside is that they have a very short life. 6-9 months is not uncommon.
  • odie6lodie6l Member Posts: 1,173
the problem with the short lif is people that when installing end up touching the bulbs. I wore surgical gloves to take the old ones out and then new ones to put new bulbs in. Also, I've checked, must of the short life are on DRL's, so thankfully "The Beast" doesn't have those.

    Food for thought:

every forum I've ever read has noted that the Silver Stars have a very short life span. They are whiter but they run hotter hence the shorter life.

I've never used them as the parts store has told me they tend to die very quickly compared to regular halogen bulbs. IIRC, the display at the parts store even notes the life is fairly short.

In any case, good luck with them and let us know how long they actually last.

A couple of years ago when I installed my running boards myself I found online directions how to make a homemade rivet tool to handle the rivets that Honda sneakily designed. Search the web. You can make this tool out of a bolt, some washers, and some nuts from your local hardware store. Here is one posting....

Electric running boards. The kind that pop out when you open the door. I have a short wief, 2 kids. Would be great for them.

    I found this -

    http://www.electricstep.com/

But they dont show a honda model. PLus, they seem pricey, and the install instructions show in the dash stuff - seems a bit... overdone. I cant see why they cant slave in elsewhere.

    Thinking about it-

I bought a set of these steps from ElectricStep for my GMC3500 HD. Yes, they are a bit pricey, but they had the best price and they had awesome service when I needed installation help. Would completely recommend them if you can find the style for your truck. There is a guy there by the name of Ray. He can tell you if there is a step that can be modified for a make or model that isn't listed. Bob@East Idaho
