That is basically the same information that my salesman told me. I purchased on 7/31 under last month's program and paid $28,250 for an EXL AWD.

I'm going to purchase a 2006 EX-L 4WD (no nav/no res) MSRP $33,595 in the next few days. This forum has been very helpful in allowing me get the best deal. I'm confident this forum has easily saved me two grand.

I've emailed or called most of the dealers in a 100 mile radius to get their best price. I've found most to be cordial and quite helpful. The best price I've received so far is $26,400 (including $550 destination). I had one dealer tell me there was no way that was for 4wd. But it is. The best quote is also from the dealer closest to me (less than 2 miles)

My question is this: how much more blood can I squeeze out of the turnip? I'm pretty happy with this deal, but don't want to leave anything on the table.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this.

I would say you got a pretty good deal. I dont think I have seen more than one or two on this board lower than that, and I have been monitoring the board a few weeks

That is seven thousand plus below sticker, and seven thousand seems to have been the target low number
  • keithrlkeithrl Member Posts: 32
I got mine at Hopkins Honda in Minneapolis area. YOu need to find the right sales person, because I have heard of people getting wildly varying deals based on who they talked to.

I got a great price on mine, so I thought

$26,400 for an EX-L 4WD sounds like a great deal. I purchased the exact same model 3 weeks ago for $27,400 in southern California and I was happy with the deal (not the best, but a whole lot better than I could do in Las Vegas). I suggest you buy the pilot, it's a great vehicle; I love mine. Good luck shopping.

I was planning to get the EXL 4WD with NAV, the dealer close to my place is not c arry the color that I was looking for with NAV, he said I can get a good GPS off the market for around 400$ and put it on the EXL 4wd and the price Q for thiis was 26790 (Phila area). Is the Honda navigation system better or get the EXL and then put the GPS off the market. Thank in advance for your input.

Where are you? That is a great deal based on past entries. I am looking to lease, does anyone know what the lease would be on that price with $1600 total out of pocket? Thanks
  • alanrosenbergalanrosenberg Member Posts: 28
the honda nav is better in a couple of ways. first off, the honda nav is voice activated, you talk to it and it give you verbal directions. also, the data is more extensive the the aftermarket navs I've used. the voice controls also do things like change the cd or radio, adjust the a/c,,it's pretty amazing, frankly one of the big reasons I'm considering a pilot. I just noticed on hondas website that the 07 ridgeline [same chassis] is rated at 255 hp instead of 244 as the 06 pilot and ridgeline are,, so now I'm thinking of waiting for an 07--and actually I'm probably going to sell my trade on my own and then drive my motorhome down to so cal as the dealers down there do such higher volume the dealers in the seattle area can't even come close. Anyone know when the 07 pilots are due out?

I paid $26,100 including destination for the above in SF Bay Area. Got email quotes from various dealers and negotiated the price on the phone with the dealer closest to my residence.

I took Honda's 2.9% financing and the finance guy mentioned about a 7 year 80K mile bumper to bumper warranty offered by Honda. We have to put down a $2000 deposit. After 3 year warranty, if we need to fix any problem, the $2000 will be applied towards it. If the total amount spent on maintenance exceeds $2000 then we do not have to pay from our pocket. Otherwise, Honda will return $2000 minus the sum spent on maintenance or the entire sum (if not used) after 7 years. There is a 60 day trial period during which we cancel this scheme and apply the $2000 towards the installment payment.

I would like to know if any of you have signed up for this and what is your take on it. Is it a good deal or not worth it?

    Thanks

I've been getting quotes from Arizona dealers over the past week and they've varied between $21,500 and $22,000, including destination.

Doc fees have all been right at $300 or so
    TTL right around $2250

OTD $24,050-$24,700 (four different dealers in this range, some with tint/mudflaps)

I'm ready to buy from one of these quotes in the next day, thinking that these really do seem like good quotes. I also can't find a used one here at these prices. Any reason not to buy in this price range?

    Mcdermott,

I'm not sure if you were asking me or 767. I'm in east tennessee. I don't know about the leasing number, but there are a lot of leasing calculators on line that you can look at to give you possible leasing scenarios.
  • mbrummbrum Member Posts: 5
That is exactly what I paid two weeks ago in Michigan. (Yes, EX-L 4 X 4) including destination of $550. I have not seen any better prices than this...I don't think you're leaving anything on the table.

    Go get 'er! :)

Obviously the RES is not for me... but for the kids and people at the back. It's a good addition than putting an aftermarket you don't have to deal with the wires, It comes with two wireless headphones and if you want another 3 headphones you can attach it on the front near the ac.

I agree it's a great deal at $26,400. However, another dealer called me this morning (he's 15 miles away) and offered $26,300 and the first three service visits for free. Everything below $27,000 is gravy to me, so I'm going to pull the trigger today or tomorrow.

I'll post my final deal once it is finalized. Clearly it is lets make a deal time on Honda Pilots. :shades:

must be more to the story...I just recently bought the same model from them, and got a great deal and had a phenomenal sales experience. I've been doing business with them for several years and the service is second to none. Did you buy the Pilot from Clinton?
  • mseenviromseenviro Member Posts: 64
The numbers are not for "out the door". Tennessee has a 7% car tax, so OTD number is more like $28500.
  • subarufan1subarufan1 Member Posts: 85
wow very nice, do you think they would offer that price again? i will have to visit them. :)

I'm in Natick, Mass and I have a quote for $27,639 for this vehicle without trade-in so far. This seems like a real good deal. Anyone care to comment. Thanks.

Located in S fla. $30,261 --> OTD, Car still wrapped in plastic, 2 miles on OD. They are washing and waxing and will deliver to my home this afternoon. Includes 10 yr or 100K mile power train warranty, free car wash for life & discount gas (maybe 5 cents) at stealership.

I had a price $300 cheaper but would have needed to drive 180 miles to close the deal and pick up the car -so it wasn't really cheaper. ;)

We live in Kitsap County and I was amazed yesterday when our local dealer (West Hills) called us to see where we were with our search...we had been in once but were never quoted a firm price(which drove us bananas!). Anyways, they matched our price quote from California. We bought a 4WD EX. We had originally wanted a 2WD but found that there were only a handful left in WA and Oregon and dealers didn't seem to want to sell them, believe me we tried! So our price on the Pilot was $25,049 plus tax and licensing. There were no hidden fees and they actually drew the numbers up on the hood of a car! No running back and forth to "the big guy". We are very happy and would recommend this dealer after all! :shades:

I live in southern VA and the best price I have gotten is 27,100. Not bad, but I want to pay about 1,000 less.

Mseenviro, I was just wondering if you could tell me the name of the dealership that you got your price quote?

If there is anyone that has heard of a good deal in VA or NC on an EX-L I would appreciate hearing about it.
  • lisa66lisa66 Member Posts: 1
    Hello mseenviro,
What dealership in southern California did you buy your Pilot EX-L from? It sounds like you got a good deal. I am looking to buy a pilot soon.
    Thanks for your information.

My wife and I are thinking about buying a 2006 EX-L. Has anyone ever bought a car just by getting quotes from dealers via email? I am currently deployed overseas and want to start getting quotes from dealers before I come home in September. There is only one Honda dealer in the town where I live and don't want to travel 150 miles to another dealer only to find out that the quote they gave me via email no longer applies. Any advice? Thanks.
  • keithrlkeithrl Member Posts: 32
Many of us have done this via e-mai.

I believe ultimately you should have some kind of purchase agreement with all out the door costs included clearly listed and the agreement signed by the manager, and have this sent or faxed to your wife or someone else you know. Of course, I dont know if they will hold a particular car until you come back, but you could get quotes, then once you come back, or just prior, solidify a deal.

If you are in a danger zone, or even if you are not, thanks for your service to our country.
  • aldo8aldo8 Member Posts: 6
    Yes this includes Destination fee.

The OTD deal I have is for $30,307.75. This includes the EX-L AWD w/RES, Running Boards, Ski Attachment, Destination Fee, Taxes, Registration Fee and Documentation Fee. I have until Monday. I'm thinking of just going back tomorrow morning (Sunday) and signing the deal before they changetheir mind. Any thoughts?

I have been looking at the Pilot for the past few weeks. I'm curious... there are quite a few posts with people getting the vehicle for $4000 under invoice. That sounds almost too good to be true. I realize Honda has an incentive of $3000, but how does the dealer make any money by selling the car for $4000 under invoice? I know there's a holdback, and they make money on the financing... with all of that, they'd probably break even. Where are they making their $$$. One of my local dealers is ripping people by adding "paint protection" and "fabric protection" for $500 a pop and also wheel locks for $295...I couldn't believe that one!

Also, I'm curious if anyone knows what, if anything, will change for the 07 Pilots and whether it is worth waiting? In 4 years, will an 07 Pilot be worth more than $4k more? Probably not, but it's something to think about. Does anyone know when the 07's will be out? I have read through some posts claiming they would start hitting the lots near the end of August. Can this be verified?
  • aldo8aldo8 Member Posts: 6
I agree with you that is sounds almost too good to be true, but it's happening. Until I get the my vehicle (see earlier post)I won't believe it either, but I have a deal with a $500 dep on my credit card. One other place they can get you is on the trade-in. My dealer offered me $329 for my 1995 Chevy Blazer with 115K miles which has a $1450-$1950 trade in value according to KBB. But my Blazer also has bald tires, the ABS and SRS systems need replacing, and I need new back brakes so I would never want to sell to anybody or would only get $500 at most, IMO.

As far as 2007 Pilot, I heard from a couple of dealers that there will be no major changes. They told me probably in 2-3 years, since the Acura MDX is getting redesigned in 2007 they want to let that hit the market for a bit before introducing a new Pilot design. what kind of pricing are you seeing?
  • sueatoptsueatopt Member Posts: 22
Just got 28,500 - w/ destination. in NY for same Pilot. & shopped the price like crazy. Just make sure that it is what it is...almost seems to good to be true - beware.

Picked up my new 4wd EXL Thur. Crossed at the Pembina, ND crossing Friday and true to their word, I didn't need the 72 hour waiting period. I mentioned the name of the person i talked to at the port and I was there for a total of maybe 5 minutes. The Canadian side was very smooth as well..maybe 20 minutes.
We got quotes from two Honda dealerships in town to do our daytime running lights. They were both around $160CDN installed. They both had the modules in stock and say they do them all the time.
  • aldo8aldo8 Member Posts: 6
It does seem to good to be true so I called the dealer and asked for the VIN number and looked it up and it is an EX-L, AWD. Just have to make sure the DVD is there when I see it tomorrow. I let everyone know tomorrow.

By the way, does the 28,500 - w/destination include the running boards and ski attachment also - or other accessories?

Purchased Friday an EX-L, 2WD no RES/NAV at Damson Honda in Huntsville, Alabama. Deal was $26,750 plus TTL and included appearance package. Not the lowest I have seen but Damson owns all the Honda dealerships in North Alabama. The Pilot is great. Negotiated via internet and in person. Thanks to this forum as it enpowers you with info not available anywhere else. Next vehicle will be research on this site prior to purchase. Internet is great.

This post is in response to questions about a good deal on an 06 Pilot EX-L 4WD in Virginia. I read this board and saw several references to Hendrick Honda is Woodbridge, VA. Went onto the dealership website and requested a price quote and received a call within 10 minutes. Price quoted was $26,543 + TTL=OTD cost $27,862.00. Drove 4 hrs from southern Virginia yesterday and picked up my 06 Pilot EX-L 4WD, Nighthawk Black Pearl w/ Grey Leather interior. These prices are for real. No one is forgetting about any other fees, I have the bill of sale and these vehicles are going for 3k or more under invoice. Dealerships in the Roanoke, VA area could only quote in the low $28,000 range and that was before tax and title so out the door cost would be about $29,500. I saved over $2000 by reading the posts on this board about the best dealerships and then contacting them and making the drive. Trust me contact Hendrick Honda in Woodbridge, VA and you will get an awesome deal.
  • aldo8aldo8 Member Posts: 6
You are absolutely right! The deals on these vehicles right now are unbelievable. I have been looking at the Pilot prices for over a year in the Boston, MA area and have not seen a TMV of under 30K for any EX-L model. I am picking up an EX-L, 4WD w/RES for $27,639 + + Running boards + ski attachment + TTL = OTD cost of $30,280. These prices should last until Sept 4th at least, that's when the dealer incentive is set to expire, but if you wait who knows what inventory will be left.

    Lisa,

I am closing my deal today for my Pilot. However I am not in SoCal, but in East Tennessee. I've deals out your way that are also very impressive.

I'll post the final details of my deal when it is done.

That's the best price I've seen so far with all those accessories! :surprise: Those running boards will cost you another $700.00 bucks and those ski attachment would be another $300.00, seems too good to be true :P :confuse: Just hope they stick to that!! By the way did you ask them for a written documentation with the internet managers signature?! They might add some when you go to there dealership... Good Luck!!! :)

I agree with you and until I have my new Pilot I won't believe it, but I do have a written bill of sale in my hand and a $500 deposit on my credit card for the dealer to add the running boards and ski attachment. I'm supposed to pick it up tonight at 6pm. I'll let you know.

It does sount to good to be true and I was skeptical, but now I am a believer. I am in NY metro area drove 50 min. to Staten Island Honda becase I read many positive posts in this forum. Got an internet quote on a 4WD Pilot EXL no Res/no Nav of $25,900 (Invoice-$3,840), excl. destination and taxes. Visited the dealer in person on Sat, with my own finaning in place and they stuck to their quote. I also took advantage of a local promotion offering free gas for a year! (will see how that works out) With luck, I pick the car up this coming Sat.

Did the purchase of the 06 Pilot EX-L 4WD, Nighthawk Black Pearl w/ Grey Leather interior from Hendrick in Woodbridge include NAV or RES or any other accessories? $26,543 + TTL=OTD cost $27,862.00 seems like a terrific deal -- way to go!

Did you contact any other NoVA Honda dealers when you were shopping? I am close to purchasing and Hendrick is still a possibility for me.

We were looking to lease a Honda Pilot EX and had been talking with Madision Honda in Madison, NJ. However, the pricing I got from Open Road Honda in Edison via the Ineternet was so good, we decided to purchase.

We took the quote the Madison and they matched it. It was a great experience, the best we ever had in a car dealership. There were no hassles, no nonsense, no trying to sell us chrome bumper trim, etc. The car lists for $31,295 and we got it for $24,414, a 22% discount off the list. Plus, they gave us a good deal on an extended warranty.

Call Madison if you are in north or central NJ.

I've appreciated this forum and got caught with the buying bug. After seeing the prices other paid, I got a dealership 2 miles from where I live agree on a purchase price of $25,500 (includes a 7 year, 100K, no deductible warranty) for a silver 2006 EX 4WD. It broke down to $24200 for the vehicle and $1300 for the warranty. I figure that they made a $250 profit on the warranty. Of course I had to pay for the usual: registration, tire disposal fee, taxes.

BTW, I'm over 200 miles from the Bay Area and LA.

The new Pilots seem as cheap as a two-year-old Pilot. My guess is that the market is upside down right now. As the market adjusts, I may find that my Pilot will have depreciated quite a bit. Another odd thing was the amount of interest sales managers and financial managers had in me. Very quickly the salesperson was out of the loop and I was given the managers' cell phone numbers. There seems to be a sales volume competition going on.

Hello all. First time posting on the board. My wife and I test drove a Pilot this saturday and loved it. Called a dealer today (I live in Philly area) and this is the deal I got:

    Pilot 4WD EX-L with Navi
    Running Boards
    Wheel locks
    All season mats
    splash guards

    Price including desitination: $29,367
    Taxes( 6%): $1,762.02
    Tag: $55
    Doc Fee: $103
    Total $31,287.02 OTD.

    What does everyone think?

Here's an update on my Pilot purchasing quest. Thanks to the prices posted here I was able to get several good quotes on a 2006 Honda Pilot 4WD EX-L (No Nav/RES). I emailed dealers in a 100 mile radius, plus Atlanta and Charlotte, to get their best price. Best quote was $26,300, then had another dealer say the would beat any written quote by $200.

I went to that dealer this afternoon to close the deal. This started with no hassles. They wanted to see the quote for $26,300 from the other dealer. I provided that for them.

10 minutes later the sales manager comes in and says "they've pulled a neat little trick on you. He's quoted you on a 2wd model. There's no way they would sell you a 4wd model for that price." I told him that I had driven the Pilot in question and it was a 4wd. I pulled out my cell phone and called the other dealer and confirmed it was a valid quote for a 4wd.

As I was leaving the smug sales manager said "come back and see us when they don't sell you the Pilot for the quoted price, we're not that far off."

I immediately drove the 15 miles to the other dealer where the internet manager met me at the door. He said "you're getting a great deal on this Pilot. I'm glad I could help you."

I had a preapproved certificate from Honda Financial and I handed it to him. Due to a storm that came through, power was lost at the dealer which kept me from signing the papers. I'll do that on Tuesday.

The lesson learned here is that anything under $27,000 is a great deal. The last $700 was a bonus.

Thanks to everyone on this forum. I'm convinced it saved me well over $1000.

Looking forward to driving my new black beauty home tomorrow. :shades:
