Just e-mail me (my address is visible in my profile) and I will send you a copy of a recall letter I got from my dealer. You should be able to get one from your local Canadian dealer as well. They might do it hoping to get your service work.
I exported a brand new Pilot and still needed 3 days.
Could you please post your experience after you get back from Philly? Any nasty or pleasant (very rare with a car dealer) surprises? Did they issue all the paper work as promised?
carlover.
Northwest...I bought an EX-L 4WD from Renton honda back on July 14th for
27,800 +TTL which was the best price I could find in the Seattle,
Washington area. Since then 2 members of this forum, a neighbor, and
co-worker have all purchased a Pilot for the same or better price (I can't post the saleman's name but you can click on my user name for contact info.).
I wonder if dealerships understand the power of the internet and forums
like this...if they make a couple deals to people who post here, they
could potentially pick up 3-4 (maybe more) deals down the road. From
what I've learned from this process, the car buying/selling industry is
changing. The dealerships who adapt are going to rise to the top if they
dedicate resources to the internet department (I'll get off my soap box
now).
A.P.R.'s are based upon the customer's credit history and file score, not what the dealer will "give" you. If the dealership were to pay the difference in A.P.R. then they could reduce it... however, with the current prices some are giving it is not feasible. It would be 6 of 1 or half a dozen anyway.
Sorry to butt in on this one but I want to make sure we understand the process and not beat the dealer over the head with something which is not in their power to "give"
Again... they can ask, but there are no guarantees that Honda will abide.

If a customer ever offered me money, I would be embarassed and I would refuse it.
That money belongs to the store.
You and I have nothing to agree or disagree ON!
Keith... Please do whatever YOU feel is necessary.
And isellhondas... this is a prices paid and buying experience forum. Not an open forum for dealership opinions as to whether someone should or should not be paid. It is not our place to tell a consumer whether or not they should do something. P.S. You aren't really supposed to post in here since your E-mail is public. That can get you thrown out!

Pilot EXL-4WD
$25813
+$550 Dest
From DCH Academy Honda, at Old Bridge, NJ. At least $500 cheaper than Open Road Honda.
:shades:
Well, the first dealer called me back today-seems he has to sell 10 more cars by Monday night and offered me the 4.9% APR. I have already sealed 5.5% for 6 years with my bank so do not want the interest rate deal (just a lower price).
He knows that I want the EXL in a 2WD in the sage pearl brush color and is using the "I have found the last one in inventory for the surrounding 5 states. I worry you will not find another if you don't get this one." He still is at MSRP of 32,395 (which is 550 higher than I am seeing elsewhere) and will now offer me 17,500 on my van. KBB lists my van (good condition) Trade: 13,510 Retail: 19,730. All I want is 13,500 for it and a fair price on the Pilot. Do I really risk not getting the color I want in a 2WD EXL if I can't get him to budge this weekend? He also mentioned that the one he is going to bring to me here locally has been traded around a few dealerships and will have 450 miles on it when it arrives here? Is that normal or am I being taken?
Are people really getting 7k below MSRP and 3K below invoice? And which MSRP is correct? His 32,395 or the 31,845 I have seen listed here? :confuse:
My story -
We decided on the Honda Pilot (choosing between the three row SUV options). I tried receiving quotes through Edmunds, but did not get any response. Found the fastest response by going directly through the dealer websites.
The MSRP for our vehicle was 35,245 plus 550 dest = 35,795.
I received four quotes - 3 in the 29,000 range plus destination, and one quote at 28,200 including destination. One of the other dealers also matched that price.
We went with the one that seemed nicer. The deal was very smooth - great experience with the internet department, the salesperson and the finance department. We got the 2.9% with no hassles. They tried hard to sell us the extended warranty, and we said we would think about it overnight. We researched, and it seems that the extended warranty can be bought much cheaper through hondacare dealers.
Bottom line -
MSRP= 35,795
Sale price= 28,200 plus TTL (7,600 under MSRP, 4K under invoice)
Thanks to everyone who gave advice that led us to research and get a great deal! Good luck - let me know if I can help.
Honda Pilot 06 2WD EXLRES consulted with you guys and I ended up with $27,543.00( which included $599.00 destination) plus doc fee of $399.00 (would not budge on this)plus 7% sales tax of $1028.44 plus $21.00 license. Got $13,250.00 on trade in of 04 Honda CRVEX which had 56,000 miles on it. Bluebook value for trade in on CRV in good condtion was listed as $12,760.00. MSRP on Pilot was $33,995.00 plus $6l0.00 for wheel locks, mud guards and protectant package. I got 4.9% financing through Honda and Carey Paul Honda gave me a $300.00 prepaid gas card. Well, how say you. I am a single female buyer.
I initially could not get that in my home city, so got quotes from other places, like Chicago, etc. where I did get that kind of price. Eventually my hometown dealers got me a price of about 6750 under sticker, but I decided that it was worth to pay a little more and get it here.
You have to be willing to look outside of Tulsa.
Also, I would keep the trade out of it now. Just as what your best price for the Pilot is. Keep the financing out of it now. Just say you have financing, and want the best deal.
Once you have gotten the best price, which should be 6K under sticker or more, then worry about the trade, of course they probably wont give you top buck for it yet, but you can sell it yourself. Then ask for the better financing.
I negotiated the 6800 under sticker price, then after that was comp;lete, got the 2.9% financing.
My advice based on the experience I had:
Internet price quote: The lowest quote I received on a Pilot LX was around $23,300, but they offered only $20,000 for my trade-in, after I then told them I had a trade.
Walk in the dealership unannounced: Told them up front I had a trade. We talked a little and I did not make an offer that night. I called the next day and offered $23,500 for the LX and that I wanted $21,000 for my trade. We soon after settled on $23,900 (with rear splash guards) for the LX and $21,000 for the trade.
Kelley Blue Book and NADA value were around $20,000 and $21,000, respectively, for trade in value. So, the $23,900 was the better deal.
My advice from experience (I am a member of chronic car buyers anonymous - 4 new cars in 22 months): Just do some research on your trade vehicle and know its worth and be up front about it. If they cut you a low price on selling a new car, they will just low-ball you when they find out you have a trade.
And I usually prefer to let them think they are arranging "normal" bank financing, on which they get a kickback (2% of the amount financed is standard) from the bank. They will figure that into the deal, maybe even planning on raising the interest rate to make maybe 3% or 4% on the financing. Then, after the deal is sealed, you can state you want the low rates through Honda, on which they make very little, usually only a small fee like $100.
So if dealers in your locality have not hit that, you have to look to another city. If you save an additional 3K, its worth flying to pick it up. then, you can use that with the local dealer for one last chance and if they havent met the quota, they will say go for it.
In my case, the local dealer apparently just hit that threshold before I was ready to buy somewhere else.
i'll be in Minneapolis next week. would you be able to email me your contact at Hopkins (my email is available through my profile). I've received some pricing from area dealerships but they don't seem to be as good as others.
thanks!
Anyway ~ Call SI Honda and ask for ext# 216. Although he is on vaca for at least a week.
Internet - It Rocks! No other way to buy a car in my book ~ Again, Love the Pilot!!
Happy to hear that you had smooth sailing at SI Honda. I warned the internet guy there that if he was steady with his prices he should expect more business. It's amazing how the spread of information on this forum works!
As far as I know there is only one internet dealer there so whoever is interested use the Honda website or the sihonda site to request a quote. The rest should be easy.
Good luck to all!
Will probably go into the TX market. Dallas would be closer but I have a sister in Houston I could visit....and pick up a car. Will continue to try and sell my van. Put an ad in the local paper and didn't even get a nibble after one week. I know that I will have more bargaining power without the trade.
Is the 2WD EXL inventory really getting low or was that the typical dealer statement to get an impulse but out of me?
For this, or even Honda dealers in the Tulsa area, e-mail the dealership direct, find their website on google and email them for a quote.
If any dealer kept calling me without giving a quote like someone else mentioned here, I would tell themnot to call me anymore until they give me an e-mailed quote, total price, no surprises later.
Or even do a search on this forum for Reliance Honda and the posts should come up of people who got deals there.
On one hand I heard they are less plentiful because people dont like them because of the resale
on the other hand, I have heard that in the southern states they are easier to find. I was always looking for 4wd so it wasnt an issue
MSRP: $33,595 including destination
Paid: $25,895 plus
Processing fee: $399
VA title tax: $788.82
Dealer's business tax: $31.07
License/Title: $41.50
Total out the door: $27,155.39
Thanks,
Dan
Can someone help? One of you dealer types maybe?
Thanks in advance for your help.
I bought an EX-L 4WD for 27,800 and was told my a person who bought one yesterday (used Edmunds forum) that he paid 27,300 because they have sold so many this month (not 100% about that price). I agree though, for whatever reason WA and OR just aren't offering the really low prices that have been posted here.
I had a terrible time with Bellevue Honda...never wanted to give me a quote just "come on in" and "we are the largest dealer in the Northwest" bit everytime.
My wife and I were on our way home from Costco and decided to stop in at Ciocca Honda north of Hershey, Pa just to see what kind of deal we would get on an '06 Pilot. We have been looking at a variety of vehicles (Mzada5, Pilot, Freestyle, Vue) over the last few weeks.
Well, The pilot we purchased was $30,250 and then the dealer knocked $1000 off. Then they did the trade-in workup on my Escape and decided to give me $9000 trade. That drops the price to $20,250. The dealer also threw in the Towing Package and Pinstriping at no charge. We put $5000 down, and got the 4.9% financing.
The dealer was very helpful and courtious, and never pressured us once. We even got to test drive a pilot right off the Showroom floor, not from out on the lot. To make things even better, they gave us an '05 Pilot as a loaner until the '06 comes in from another dealership 30 miles away and the Trailer Package is installed. We pick-up the Pilot tomorrow morning.

P.S. - We stopped for lunch at a Chinese Rest. before we went to the dealership. My fortune cookie (not like I believe them) read "Opportunity is knocking on your door - answer it tomorrow." Who knows, I may even play the numbers on the back in Saturday's Powerball. :shades:
