Getting mine tomorrow from Staten Island on recommendation from someone on forums. (EXL-RES 4wd) Priced DCH Paramus and price was almost the same. SI is closer to me only by a little bit. Don't have paper with me, but got like $3500. below invoice and about $6400. off MSRP/ financed at 4.9% for 5 years. Will let you know how it goes. Signing the papers also tomorrow. So far...all is gone well. They are very competitive and nice to work with.

    Hi,
Just e-mail me (my address is visible in my profile) and I will send you a copy of a recall letter I got from my dealer. You should be able to get one from your local Canadian dealer as well. They might do it hoping to get your service work.
  • fxcoachfxcoach Member Posts: 11
You only need to send copies of the title (MCO) and the invoice to Us. Customs at least 3 business days before crossing the border with the vehicle. This can be done via fax or e-mail. When you cross, make sure to have ORIGINALS.
I exported a brand new Pilot and still needed 3 days.

    lawrencej,

Could you please post your experience after you get back from Philly? Any nasty or pleasant (very rare with a car dealer) surprises? Did they issue all the paper work as promised?

    carlover.

The rate you received should be dependent on the credit score...and nothing else. You may need to cosign with your wife to get the 4.9. I also got that rate through SI Honda but I am unsure of my score. Talk to the finance guy and see what he says about the 4.9 and what you need to do to get it.

Just wanted to give an update on some of the pricing on Pilots in the
Northwest...I bought an EX-L 4WD from Renton honda back on July 14th for
27,800 +TTL which was the best price I could find in the Seattle,
Washington area. Since then 2 members of this forum, a neighbor, and
co-worker have all purchased a Pilot for the same or better price (I can't post the saleman's name but you can click on my user name for contact info.).

I wonder if dealerships understand the power of the internet and forums
like this...if they make a couple deals to people who post here, they
could potentially pick up 3-4 (maybe more) deals down the road. From
what I've learned from this process, the car buying/selling industry is
changing. The dealerships who adapt are going to rise to the top if they
dedicate resources to the internet department (I'll get off my soap box
    now).
  • buzzsaw11buzzsaw11 Member Posts: 9
The dealership we purchased through told me a 710 or higher got the top rates....my wife had the better credit so she signed for everything. It was nice I just sat back and relaxed.

The Dealership cannot "bump" anyone to a "super-preferred" tier. They can ASK for Honda to approve at the lower A.P.R but AHFC has to make the decision to do so and there MUST be a reason! Just stating you want a lower A.P.R. is not enough. Maybe credit is perfect but credit card balances keeps the customer just below the credit score. Or an erroneous account that the customer is currently disputing.

A.P.R.'s are based upon the customer's credit history and file score, not what the dealer will "give" you. If the dealership were to pay the difference in A.P.R. then they could reduce it... however, with the current prices some are giving it is not feasible. It would be 6 of 1 or half a dozen anyway.

Sorry to butt in on this one but I want to make sure we understand the process and not beat the dealer over the head with something which is not in their power to "give"

Again... they can ask, but there are no guarantees that Honda will abide.

p.s. dealers cannot make "points" on the special A.P.R.

Everything is set for tommorrow . I wasnt correct when I said my credit score was 725 it's 765 . I made a call to the credit union they are at 5.9 for 48 mths . It's a little more in time factor but I have to do it . I wanted to go with Honda it would have been smoother. My credit union states that both credit scores will be combined then avg out . The number is now 725 -- hopefully . You guys will be the first to know the dealers details . Round by Round

Does anyone know the difference? Are they the same in snow or sand?
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
    I totally disagree!

If a customer ever offered me money, I would be embarassed and I would refuse it.

That money belongs to the store.
  • dwilliamdwilliam Member Posts: 128
I guess everyone is different. I am not telling the customer to pay the person. I stated that they obviously felt strongly enough that they WANTED to and I am elated that their salesperson at least provided exceptional service if not the lowest price. They asked me what would be APPROPRIATE because they are pretty much planning on doing it! I responded.

You and I have nothing to agree or disagree ON!

Keith... Please do whatever YOU feel is necessary.

And isellhondas... this is a prices paid and buying experience forum. Not an open forum for dealership opinions as to whether someone should or should not be paid. It is not our place to tell a consumer whether or not they should do something. P.S. You aren't really supposed to post in here since your E-mail is public. That can get you thrown out!

Paid $28,755 plus TTL with 4.9% financing for 60 months at Braman Honda in Greenacres, Fl. The car was delivered to my home in Miami yesterday, never went to the dealer I bought it from.

I ran across this forum last night and read the messages. Today I went to White Allen Honda in downtown Dayton and looked at a Pilot EX-L AWD with RES. They had it marked down to 31,872. The salesman was very nice and professional. I told him that we would buy it if we could have it for 29,000 plus TTL. The MSRP was 35,872 so I felt that we got a great deal. He went and talked to the manager and came back and said no problem. We got the 4.9 financing for 60 months. We pick it up tomorrow. I told the salesman about this site and how people were getting the Pilots for 7000 less than the MSRP and 3000 less than invoice. He asked if it was in Dayton and I told him that people in Cincinatti have gotten that deal and that they had lots of Pilots in stock. We went and looked at Hidy Honda in Beavercreek yesterday and they weren't very helpful or willing to bargain. Go to White Allan if you are looking for a great deal near the Dayton area. This was the most painless buying experience we have ever had, I would give this buying experience an A+.

In order to provide a substantially larger down payment, I plan to wait until August to purchase an EX-L AWD w/RES. I know Honda clearance is going on now and there are significant incentives to purchase in July. Does anyone know of any incentives coming in August or will I completely miss the boat? :( When will the 2007 Pilots start showing up on the lots? Thanks to all for the terrific tips and advice.

Sorry to answer your question so late. Yes, it was three weeks ago on Saturday. I picked a Chinese sales fellow, showed him the price, and went to the its invertory lot and pick the pilot. Nice and easy. :)

I think I should put down the numbers here again

    Pilot EXL-4WD
    $25813
    +$550 Dest

From DCH Academy Honda, at Old Bridge, NJ. At least $500 cheaper than Open Road Honda.

I love the prices that everyone else is getting but the dealers here in Tulsa are not even close. I made my first contact about 10 days ago about a 2WD EXL and they quoted me MSRP (32,395) with a very fair trade-in of 16,000 for my 2003 Town and Country Limited with DVD. KBB lists trade at 13,510 for good condition. It is a loaded van in excellent to good condition. I figured 13,500 for trade so crunched the numbers but that would just be 2,500 off MSRP. Not a very good deal. I walked......... The other dealer offered me 11,500 for trade-in with same MSRP on the Pilot. I ran......
Well, the first dealer called me back today-seems he has to sell 10 more cars by Monday night and offered me the 4.9% APR. I have already sealed 5.5% for 6 years with my bank so do not want the interest rate deal (just a lower price).
He knows that I want the EXL in a 2WD in the sage pearl brush color and is using the "I have found the last one in inventory for the surrounding 5 states. I worry you will not find another if you don't get this one." He still is at MSRP of 32,395 (which is 550 higher than I am seeing elsewhere) and will now offer me 17,500 on my van. KBB lists my van (good condition) Trade: 13,510 Retail: 19,730. All I want is 13,500 for it and a fair price on the Pilot. Do I really risk not getting the color I want in a 2WD EXL if I can't get him to budge this weekend? He also mentioned that the one he is going to bring to me here locally has been traded around a few dealerships and will have 450 miles on it when it arrives here? Is that normal or am I being taken?

Are people really getting 7k below MSRP and 3K below invoice? And which MSRP is correct? His 32,395 or the 31,845 I have seen listed here? :confuse:

I finally closed on the ex-l . The deal went smooth the finance guy wasnt too bad he wouldn't give me the 4.9 but 6.9 not too bad they use Experian .From what I understand they rate the lowest so with that being said the deal was done . Thanks for the help .Honda of Staten Island was alright .

Just took delivery of our new Honda Pilot EXL with Navigation. This forum helped tremendously - thanks to everyone who provided their stories.

    My story -

We decided on the Honda Pilot (choosing between the three row SUV options). I tried receiving quotes through Edmunds, but did not get any response. Found the fastest response by going directly through the dealer websites.

The MSRP for our vehicle was 35,245 plus 550 dest = 35,795.
I received four quotes - 3 in the 29,000 range plus destination, and one quote at 28,200 including destination. One of the other dealers also matched that price.

We went with the one that seemed nicer. The deal was very smooth - great experience with the internet department, the salesperson and the finance department. We got the 2.9% with no hassles. They tried hard to sell us the extended warranty, and we said we would think about it overnight. We researched, and it seems that the extended warranty can be bought much cheaper through hondacare dealers.

    Bottom line -

    MSRP= 35,795
Sale price= 28,200 plus TTL (7,600 under MSRP, 4K under invoice)

Thanks to everyone who gave advice that led us to research and get a great deal! Good luck - let me know if I can help.

    OK,

Honda Pilot 06 2WD EXLRES consulted with you guys and I ended up with $27,543.00( which included $599.00 destination) plus doc fee of $399.00 (would not budge on this)plus 7% sales tax of $1028.44 plus $21.00 license. Got $13,250.00 on trade in of 04 Honda CRVEX which had 56,000 miles on it. Bluebook value for trade in on CRV in good condtion was listed as $12,760.00. MSRP on Pilot was $33,995.00 plus $6l0.00 for wheel locks, mud guards and protectant package. I got 4.9% financing through Honda and Carey Paul Honda gave me a $300.00 prepaid gas card. Well, how say you. I am a single female buyer.
  • homeykathomeykat Member Posts: 11
You did great! I am female also and did all the talking, this was my car and my husband didn't research it like I did.
  • keithrlkeithrl Member Posts: 32
Yes, people are getting 7000K under sticker, close to that seems to be the norm now.

I initially could not get that in my home city, so got quotes from other places, like Chicago, etc. where I did get that kind of price. Eventually my hometown dealers got me a price of about 6750 under sticker, but I decided that it was worth to pay a little more and get it here.

You have to be willing to look outside of Tulsa.

Also, I would keep the trade out of it now. Just as what your best price for the Pilot is. Keep the financing out of it now. Just say you have financing, and want the best deal.

Once you have gotten the best price, which should be 6K under sticker or more, then worry about the trade, of course they probably wont give you top buck for it yet, but you can sell it yourself. Then ask for the better financing.

I negotiated the 6800 under sticker price, then after that was comp;lete, got the 2.9% financing.
  • keithrlkeithrl Member Posts: 32
also the difference between the two MSRPs you are getting is the 550 standard destination charge. So they are both right, but one includes destination charge.
  • montztermontzter Member Posts: 72
"Also, I would keep the trade out of it now. Just as what your best price for the Pilot is. Keep the financing out of it now. Just say you have financing, and want the best deal."

My advice based on the experience I had:

Internet price quote: The lowest quote I received on a Pilot LX was around $23,300, but they offered only $20,000 for my trade-in, after I then told them I had a trade.

Walk in the dealership unannounced: Told them up front I had a trade. We talked a little and I did not make an offer that night. I called the next day and offered $23,500 for the LX and that I wanted $21,000 for my trade. We soon after settled on $23,900 (with rear splash guards) for the LX and $21,000 for the trade.

Kelley Blue Book and NADA value were around $20,000 and $21,000, respectively, for trade in value. So, the $23,900 was the better deal.

My advice from experience (I am a member of chronic car buyers anonymous - 4 new cars in 22 months): Just do some research on your trade vehicle and know its worth and be up front about it. If they cut you a low price on selling a new car, they will just low-ball you when they find out you have a trade.

And I usually prefer to let them think they are arranging "normal" bank financing, on which they get a kickback (2% of the amount financed is standard) from the bank. They will figure that into the deal, maybe even planning on raising the interest rate to make maybe 3% or 4% on the financing. Then, after the deal is sealed, you can state you want the low rates through Honda, on which they make very little, usually only a small fee like $100.
  • dhnsxdhnsx Member Posts: 5
the lowest quote I've gotten so far is 30800.(which is a decent deal but seeing what others have paid for their, this is not that great...) I'm lost right now... HELP!!! how do I get the guys to match the $3000 below invoice deals? thanks in advance guys!
  • keithrlkeithrl Member Posts: 32
From what I understand, and have experienced, dealers wont go that low on price unless they have met some quota which gives them an extra 3000 kickback from Honda.

So if dealers in your locality have not hit that, you have to look to another city. If you save an additional 3K, its worth flying to pick it up. then, you can use that with the local dealer for one last chance and if they havent met the quota, they will say go for it.

In my case, the local dealer apparently just hit that threshold before I was ready to buy somewhere else.

ditto - the gal thing! (but...also I am an Internet Manager for non-Honda dealer) - came in and signed with the hubby got a great deal, bought at Staten Island Honda in NY - yesterday. Everything done on phone - Picked up - lots of $ off -easy & pleasant, Love it! Did earlier post on price - all went according to plan > He pulled no surprises. got the 4.9%! 728 credit score(just make sure you stipulate when you shop via email/phone - NO SURPRISES - make sure the deal is the deal.> no additional fees. & dealers WILL low-ball you, to get you in the door(apples to apples)- just remember that. BE SPICIFIC - 4WD. 2WD, etc. (Do the research first, sooo much info out there on the car.) Go and actually drive the car close to you > make sure you like it and it fits your needs, start with a price from that local guy - tell him that you have already put some internet inquiries in, he will surely start with a some-what competitive $. In my case I came in gave the guy all my info, after I drove it and said I love it, and never heard from him - so I was done with him...I guess he did not think I was serious. I even said I would be getting one this month.. and he was at the same dealer since '89 - selling. I'm sure the GM would be flipping right about now if he knew. Instead I drove 45 minutes away and got one at a dealer, who knew I was serious... and was very competitive. He had the best price, and I checked many dealers!

Anyway ~ Call SI Honda and ask for ext# 216. Although he is on vaca for at least a week.

Internet - It Rocks! No other way to buy a car in my book ~ Again, Love the Pilot!!

I've been looking for a Pilot w/ nav in seattle for a while and am pretty frustrated myself as the local dealers just do not seem to deal anywhere close to the prices listed here; one guy at Bellevue Honda told me that everyone here lied—west hills in Bremerton told me that the prices listed were for a ‘base vehicle with no options, no seats, no stereo etc’,,, really sounds like a pilot w/ nav to me. Renton pulled a bait and switch,,, they quoted me some numbers for a lease, I agreed to it then they said,,, ‘oops, these are the wrong numbers’ and raised the price about 40 bucks a month, I was not amused. Bellevue and Kirkland seem a bit better but they try their pitch starting with a premium OVER MSRP! Advice? Check out some of the dealers in Oregon or California, the internet guy at Norm Reeves Honda [do a google] is right in there with all the best prices here.
  • luvasuvluvasuv Member Posts: 14
    Sue,
Happy to hear that you had smooth sailing at SI Honda. I warned the internet guy there that if he was steady with his prices he should expect more business. It's amazing how the spread of information on this forum works!

As far as I know there is only one internet dealer there so whoever is interested use the Honda website or the sihonda site to request a quote. The rest should be easy.

    Good luck to all!
  • luvasuvluvasuv Member Posts: 14
At least half of the dealer websites include lookups on inventory. Check for yourself. Compare dealers in and around your area. The larger dealers will be in a better position to offer 3K-4K below invoice. Good luck.
  • luvasuvluvasuv Member Posts: 14
Almost sounds like collusion between the dealers.
  • mjjpowermjjpower Member Posts: 12
We have been doing the same as you only we just want a 2WD EX or EXL,not 4WD. We have been getting a lot of "don't carry any 2WD's..too hard to sell". I find that interesting because in the 2006's they have the 6 cyls that drop to 3 on the hwy...seems that with gas prices this would be a good thing! The funny thing about Bremerton West Hills is that they won't even give us a quote...they keep calling but every time we ask for a quote we do not get one! We live in the Kitsap area and would be happy to do business here but they won't give us anything to work with! We have had no luck getting a good deal in this area (including Seattle/Tacoma,Bellevue, Renton, Lynwood) as well so I guess we will be going out of state as well and I have no problem with that.
  • ngmomngmom Member Posts: 7
Yes, I am willing to go outside of Tulsa. When asking for quotes here in state the same Honda place keeps showing up and we do have more than one in the area.
Will probably go into the TX market. Dallas would be closer but I have a sister in Houston I could visit....and pick up a car. Will continue to try and sell my van. Put an ad in the local paper and didn't even get a nibble after one week. I know that I will have more bargaining power without the trade.
Is the 2WD EXL inventory really getting low or was that the typical dealer statement to get an impulse but out of me?
  • keithrlkeithrl Member Posts: 32
If you are willing to go to Houston, I have read on these boards that there is a dealership called Reliance Honda in Lake Jackson, just outside of Houston where people are getting the kind of deals that you read on this board. Iremember something about some Dallas dealership, but Reliance in Lake Jackson is the Texas one that kept coming up.

For this, or even Honda dealers in the Tulsa area, e-mail the dealership direct, find their website on google and email them for a quote.

If any dealer kept calling me without giving a quote like someone else mentioned here, I would tell themnot to call me anymore until they give me an e-mailed quote, total price, no surprises later.

Or even do a search on this forum for Reliance Honda and the posts should come up of people who got deals there.
  • keithrlkeithrl Member Posts: 32
as far as 2WDs, I have heard both.

On one hand I heard they are less plentiful because people dont like them because of the resale

on the other hand, I have heard that in the southern states they are easier to find. I was always looking for 4wd so it wasnt an issue
  • dudleyterpdudleyterp Member Posts: 2
I bought my Pilot Monday night, after one test drive on Friday. My wife test drove it too Monday. I did my research, thanks mostly to this board. Turns out, my local dealer, Hagerstown Honda was the only one willing to match the lowest quoted price on the 2WD from Open Road Honda and then gave me a price for the 4WD of 27,490 + Destination, TTL. Not bad on a $35,195 sticker price. I ended up leasing it for 48 months and even turned around and scored a beautiful 2006 Accord with leather the following night. Could not have had a better salesperson and the most pleasant car buying experience I have ever had.
  • mcdermott2mcdermott2 Member Posts: 68
If you do not mind me asking, what is your monthly payment on a 48 month lease?
  • dudleyterpdudleyterp Member Posts: 2
Well, my monthly payment is about $500, only because I saved my trade-in to use when securing my wife's car. Otherwise, I would have been looking at around $390. But the average lease interest rate is approximately 1.9% versus the special 4.9% rate for 60 month purchases. And this is for an 18,000 mile per year allowance versus the standard 12,000.

For those of you in Virginia/ Washington DC, here is the deal we got on an EX-L 4WD, Redrock Pearl Pilot. We were looking for a 2WD. Hendrick Honda in Woodbridge, VA did not have the color we wanted in the 2WD even though they had quoted us a price(saying they could get one from another dealership); when they couldn't get one, they offered us a 4WD at the same price. Did everything on the Internet and phone. Got 2.9% but we only wanted to finance $10,000. Very upfront, no surprises. We did not want to trade. We always do better selling our cars privately.

    MSRP: $33,595 including destination

    Paid: $25,895 plus
    Processing fee: $399
    VA title tax: $788.82
    Dealer's business tax: $31.07
    License/Title: $41.50

    Total out the door: $27,155.39

Can anyone tell me if Honda will continue the incentives on the Pilot into August? I really don't need to purchase one before August, but would be willing to pull the trigger in July if the incentives are going to go away.

Can someone help? One of you dealer types maybe?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Try Renton Honda again...sounds like you got burned by a salesman there but a guy has sold 5-6 Pilots to myself and 2-3 others from this forum (I can't post his name but you can email me) in the last 10 days.

I bought an EX-L 4WD for 27,800 and was told my a person who bought one yesterday (used Edmunds forum) that he paid 27,300 because they have sold so many this month (not 100% about that price). I agree though, for whatever reason WA and OR just aren't offering the really low prices that have been posted here.

I had a terrible time with Bellevue Honda...never wanted to give me a quote just "come on in" and "we are the largest dealer in the Northwest" bit everytime.

I would like to start off by saying hello to all of those in the Pilot Group. I'm coming over from the Ford Escape Group.
My wife and I were on our way home from Costco and decided to stop in at Ciocca Honda north of Hershey, Pa just to see what kind of deal we would get on an '06 Pilot. We have been looking at a variety of vehicles (Mzada5, Pilot, Freestyle, Vue) over the last few weeks.
Well, The pilot we purchased was $30,250 and then the dealer knocked $1000 off. Then they did the trade-in workup on my Escape and decided to give me $9000 trade. That drops the price to $20,250. The dealer also threw in the Towing Package and Pinstriping at no charge. We put $5000 down, and got the 4.9% financing.

The dealer was very helpful and courtious, and never pressured us once. We even got to test drive a pilot right off the Showroom floor, not from out on the lot. To make things even better, they gave us an '05 Pilot as a loaner until the '06 comes in from another dealership 30 miles away and the Trailer Package is installed. We pick-up the Pilot tomorrow morning.

    Odie
    Odie's Carspace

P.S. - We stopped for lunch at a Chinese Rest. before we went to the dealership. My fortune cookie (not like I believe them) read "Opportunity is knocking on your door - answer it tomorrow." Who knows, I may even play the numbers on the back in Saturday's Powerball. :shades:
