I have been getting quotes from dealers in the Long Island, NY area and non of them would go too far below $27,800 for an EX-L AWD. Is there something I'm missing that you folks? Do I need to fly to another part of the country for a better deal?

Conicelli is up to $29.8+TTL for an AWD EX-L with Navi

through Labor Day weekend...but you better hurry, inventories are getting light and you may be left with your last choice color/trim levels...deals won't be anywhere this good on 07!
  • lovemyhonda1lovemyhonda1 Member Posts: 5
sounds more like you want to bash them than get a good deal from somewhere else...maybe they let you walk because you were a little arrogant??? Haven't noticed here if you've actually bought a Pilot yet for what you want...certainly haven't claimed to get a great deal or great treatment from anywhere else...wonder who really is the problem here???

"All buyers are liars and all sellers are embellishers, right?"

.......did you say that in a previous post???

I am living in Taunton,MA. Can you please help me know what the best price for a Pilot LX4WD is?
  • rob55rob55 Member Posts: 3
I just got home from buying the 06 Pilot EX-L with Nav in Sage Brush
Pearl from Mel Rapton in Sacramento. The breakdown was...

Car $28,935 including rear mudguards, cross rails, cargo cover and
wheel locks all installed. (About $400 in options).
Doc and Tire fees= $53.00 (They gave me two free oil changes to make me
    happy here).
    7.75% tax =2,245.95
    License & reg. $250
    4.9% finance
    Final Cost $31,484.70
Note: I was going to buy at Vacaville Honda until the Internet Manager
decided to try to jack me with 5.9% financing. I walked out and Mel Rapton got my business.
Needless to say Vacaville tried to call me back but it was too late.
    Great people at Mel Rapton.

For those in SE MA and RI. Contact Mystic Honda in Lincoln RI for good price on Pilot. Do the internet quote thingy, don't walk into the showroom and talk to a sslesman... you won't get their internet price that way.

I was quoted maybe 300 over he absolute lowest price I've seen posted here recently... not bad maybe you could squeeze even that at the end of month if you need every penny on a deal.

Ok say I am getting a Pilot. I live in GA so 4WD is not really needed. So far best price I have recevied with Destination is 25,630 (this does not inculde T&T) on a 2006 EX-L 2WD.

The dealer is trying to charge $470 for Doc/Proccessing fee. I am not sure if they are capped in GA but i know some sates like CA cap them at 45 and NY at 20. So $470 is way high. Carmax only chrages $150.

So, you all think this is a good price?

    Thanks
  • foonafoona Member Posts: 18
In Mass you get that same price with a doc fee of about $100 max. So I'd negotiate that $470 down to $100 maybe $150 since it's a good price on the car.

Looking to buy 06 Pilot LX 4WD - $24,940 (ad price) and window sticker shows $28,745 (upstate NY). Spouse thinks 24K is good deal, and doesn't want to try and get more off. I say try for another $1K. What do you say...is 24,940 good deal, or offer less, or for some add-ons (instead)?
  • wasskepticalwasskeptical Member Posts: 3
I had to follow-up to say the pipe dream of free gas was only good if you paid MSRP. Anyway, the dealer in all respects was easy to work with.
  • wasskepticalwasskeptical Member Posts: 3
it might be a bit of a drive, but i just got a 4WD Pilot exl for 25900 (excluding destination, tt&l) at staten island honda. They also added the old dealer prep fee of $199, which i didn't dispute becuse the price was so good. for me, 50 minute ride was worth 2G. i started with a quote from the internet manager and they honored it when i walked in. the process was pretty smooth.

Can anyone provide me the recent price for Pilot 4WD EX with NAV or with RES in NJ?
  • jcabrera4jcabrera4 Member Posts: 34
How far upstate NY are you located? The 24,940 price is the price I got for a 4wd EX which included everything except sales tax. Go to open road honda and get a quote from them and see if the dealer will match it. If not, it may be worth the drive and go to open road honda or staten island honda.
  • barbbarbbarbbarb Member Posts: 5
I'm shopping in GA and my understanding is that the doc fees are non-negotiable. Each dealer has to charge every customer the same doc fee. I'm finding some doc fees to be $399 and $499.
  • barbbarbbarbbarb Member Posts: 5
Made a deal on a 2006 Pilot that was supposed to be delivered to the dealer by today. Now the salesperson says it may take another week because it is being shipped from the factory in Ontario, Canada. Should I believe him? Are the Pilots manufactured in Canada made for the US market?
  • tmw017tmw017 Member Posts: 2
Not near NJ......I'm between Elmira and Binghamton.
  • jcabrera4jcabrera4 Member Posts: 34
Think about it this way. Drive 3 - 4 hours each way and at the end of the day, you will have saved about 2 grand.

As an alternative, use carsdirect.com They have a price of $23,576.
  • lawrencejlawrencej Member Posts: 22
on Aug 26th I picked up a Pilot EX/L AWD for $26539 + $75 document fees (taxes and tags extra) from Sussman Honda in Roslyn PA (greater Philadelphia). They were great,no nonsense.
I also added options of sidesteps, tow package, and crossrails for an additional $1700.
  • lawrencejlawrencej Member Posts: 22
Yes all Pilots are manufactured in the province of Ontario in Canada. And get this for a kicker....they are almost twice the price in Canada!!! for example a top of line Pilot EX-L 4WD + Nav, sidesteps, tow package and crossrails prices out at about $31,000 in US. In Canada $58000!!!. For a Canadian-built car!!! And Honda US and Honda Canada have an agreement that US border states can´t sell new cars to Canadian buyers. Ain´t Free Trade wonderful?

Hi, Are the leather seats worth the extra money. Can someone speak regarding the cloth seats experience? Thanks
  • bigsmooth469bigsmooth469 Member Posts: 12
So Lute Riley bait and switched me. Told me that the car they had for me was sold at noon today and they forgot to inform my contact, the supposed internet sales manager.

Anyway, the bait and switching began. They told me they could dealer trade, but there's no way they could sell me the car for what we had agreed upon. Then they told me they'll sell me the car for our negotiated price and trade it in, but I would have to pay $1499 for the pro pack - roof rails, trunk trey, cargo net and wheel locks. YEAH RIGHT! Don't waste your time like I did. Next time I'll use them for free research and nothing else!

Depending on if you are the driver or passenger. As the driver, I like both cloth and leather on Pilot. But as a passenger, I like the leather much more because I find it soft and yet supportive, and I was able to slide around to find the best positions. In LX cloth I never found a comfy position, and sliding is not easy on that velvety seat. I thought leather would be hot this past summer but it was tolerable even after baking under the sun. And if you have people eating in the back seat you definitely want leather for easy cleaning. Good luck.

In Arizona at Honda Cars of MesaI got the Pilot Ex/l-2wd w/Nav for 27,100.
  • philpilotphilpilot Member Posts: 2
Forgot to mention, it included Tinted windows, mud guards, chrome sidesteps, auto dimming mirror, Chrome fender flares, wind deflector, Side view mirror chrome accents (?) free oil changes for a year, and 2.9% financing. Was this a good deal?
  • seekerbargainseekerbargain Member Posts: 11
Sticker says my Pilot was made in Alabama, although I have seen Ontario made Pilots on dealer lots here in NJ.

BTW, noticed yesterday that Planet Honda on Rte 22 in Union has a Pilot parked right in front with a banner hanging on the side of it that reads "$8000 Off" in huge letters.
  • jfritschjfritsch Member Posts: 958
From reading the messages the average price off MSRP on pilots the last month is about $6000-7500+. (High end models get most off)

Dealer sells below invoice and gives all the $3000 (public advertised or not) dealer cash incentive.

Did I misread or did one poster say they got $6000 under invoice or $8900 under MSRP? (in July)

For people who aren't picky as to colors, etc.. there may be a real shooting gallery the last part of August with dealerships trying to make their numbers.

    thanx

If you have cash and the inclination, you can buy, drive (the cars have to be "used") and then sell Pilots across the border. I have a buddy that has sold 2 C6 vettes up there. Easy money if you hook up with a broker. No dealer purchases, but they can do private party sales across the border.

    lawrencej,

Did they sell it with your Canadian address on the documents? Or did you use a US address? One dealer told me the Honda's database (where they enter the final sale details) does not allow the sale to a Canadian address. However, this guy did not sound he knows what he was talking about.

What price are you paying for the 2005 EXL and also for the 2006 EXl these days?
  • sarahgirlsarahgirl Member Posts: 8
I'm happy to report that last night I purchased my Sage Brush 2WD EX-L Pilot for what I believe is a deal:

    Vehicle/Dest: $25,356
    Protection Package: $675
    Plus TTL, of course.

Thanks to everyone here for sharing their experience and knowledge.
  • tcplitcpli Member Posts: 8
How much did I pay: 24,650+tax+19.5(loan filing fee)
What did I pay for: 2006 EX AWD Pilot with only 6 miles on it. No options/accessaries as my sales man told me, even though I found cargo net is there.
How did I pay: 2.9% honda promotion rate for 36 months with 0 down payment.

I have read this forum for a while and learned a lot from here. I feel I should contribute my buying experience which may be helpful for others, especially for our poor guys live in CO/WY/NE areas. Most dealers won't sell a honda at a competitive price as those in coast and TX area.
I started requesting online quotes from this Monday and received bunch of them: my nearest Honda of Markley didn't reply at all; all others around CO/WY quote me at around 26,300 at the first round. After I replied their quote asked for a "reasonable" one, most of them reduce their quote to somewhere around 25,700. Among them, the most notable is Honda of Casper from WY. I called my local dealer several time since they treat me well when I was there test-driving. Their usual sales man quote me at price which may be very reasonable here, albeit not as attactive as what I learn from this forum. The quote from Honda of Casper (3 hour driving from me) was competitive. At the same time I am impressed by their internet sales manager (by the rule of this forum, no name) who is very helpful and honest. However at the last minute when I countered their offer by $500, their sales manager who offer me quite competitive quote at first place was not willing to budge a bit at all. At the same time I was still working (emailing back and forth) with several other dealer's internet sales.

In the end, the internet sales man from Frontrange Honda (2 hour driving from my place) beats them all and win me over not only by their competitive price, but also by his total honesty and professionality. After his quote was seriouly considered, I asked him to fax me a copy of quote with detailed run-down. Then I made my deposit over the phone, walked out my home with my wife, and drove to their dealership. (However, we were caught in a heavy afternoon shower and hell.)

The entire transaction went very smoothly and all documents especially those which need signature was clearly explained. As was promised, no surprises, no strings attached.

During the time when finance department was working on the documents, he showed to us all the important features of our pilot professionally and competently. Both my wife and I was impressed.

I highly recommend for those who are looking into buying a Honda to give them (especially the internet sales guy) a shot. In all my impression, you will not be disappointed and most probably end up with a very happy purchase.

How does Cars Direct work? Has anyone out there used it? A simple explanation would be appreciated. It shows the target price on a '06 Pilt EX-2WD at ~$24,200 which I would probably be willing to pay (+ tax, tag, title).

    Thx

Well, I finally got sick of going back an forth and just got an 06 EXL NAV from Klein Honda in Everett WA. I was so frazzled with going back and forth and thinking about driving down to CA, yesterday the guy at norm reeves is ca said they only had one left with nav at it had running boards which I did not want,,,,, also I was concerned that when I drove all the way down there they would not give me what his ‘blind appraisal’ came in for my 02 chevy. I had given up and was actually looking for the chevy dealer in Everett thinking I could get a 2 or 3 year lease for about 350, I saw Klein Honda and figured I would try once more and I ended up with a demo with 2750 miles on it, + the tow package for the equity in my chevy, down [about 3200---valuing my chevy at 8k] and 472 / month for a 3 year 36 month 12k lease. I’m having some buyers remorse about getting the demo but at least it’s done with. I was just worn down and wanted out of my chevy after reading about all the problems listed on the boards here. Price, $29,995 with full tank of gas and a $100 gas card. I also found all the honda accessories at less then 1/2 of the price the dealers are selling them for at; http://www.hondacuraworld.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=H- P example, cargo liner, 335 dealer, 159--- those 99 dollar rim locks [oh, I got rim locks and mud flaps!!] 34 bucks!! oh, my deal almost blew up in the F&I office as they tried to just give me a trailer hitch instead of the full package, but I held fast and got the full package.

My wife and I picked up our beautiful 2006 AWD EX-L with Nav yesterday. First, I want to thank all for their comments and discussion on this board. I find most internet message boards full of fools and morons, but the Edmunds board and their intelligent discussion always pleases me. Anyway, we paid 29,067 for the Pilot. I think we got a great deal. The dealership (Ed Voyles in Marietta, GA) was fantastic and fist class all the way. And this is coming from a guy who owns an Infiniti! They did a great job on my trade-in value. The key to the Pilot is, my wife and I were set on the Desert Sand. And our dealer did a bang up job of finding one and getting to us in great shape and very quickly. All in all, I am very impressed with both the car and the buying process. Now, let me get back to reading this Nav manual, this thing has more options than a swiss army knife!

I live in Cheyenne, WY and am considering a Pilot in next couple of years (I know a long way off). Did you try Tyrell-Doyle and if so what was the experience? Did you try the dealers in Ft Collins too? I'm curious about your experiences with these dealers. Thank you.

    sarahgirl,

Which dealership in Socal did you get it from and did this include the Navi?
  • sarahgirlsarahgirl Member Posts: 8
Norm Reeves Honda Superstore in Cerritos. No Nav, you would probably need to add another $1,500 to $2,000 to the price of the vehicle if you wanted it.

I was hanging in this forum for about a week researching what prices people were getting. When I was ready to purchase, I mass emailed about 20 dealers in So Cal telling them I was buying in the next 4 days and to give me the best quote. About 10 emailed back and out of those 3 were willing to match or beat the lowest quote I received. I went with Cerritos only because they had the color I wanted with the pro package already on it, and they also responded to my emails almost instantly (I like the personal attention). I did have another offer that was $100 less but they took too long to email me back  . That dealer was Buena Park Honda.

    GOOD LUCK!!! :shades:

This site helped me a lot in the past 2 weeks during my research for a 2006 Pilot. I finally pull the trigger on one yesterday. I'd thought I share my experience with those interested.

After test driving the car at a westside dealer, the salesperson basically would call me very couple of days to try to make a sale. Of course, after doing some research on the net, I realize that the price I was quoted was at least $1500 over what people were paying thru the internet. After mass-emailing 15-20 of the local dealerships, you can tell that many over the internet would still try to high-ball you.

Anyhow, I was initially looking for an 4WD EX-L w/ NAV, the lowest quote was $27188 + TTL from Diamond Bar Honda. Unfortunately, they did not have the color my wife wanted. But they did have the color we wanted in 2WD. The fleet manager knocked $1000 off the price he quoted me for the 4WD. But I told him another dealership had the 2WD at $26900 (Kaiser Brother at downtown LA), he matched it without asking which dealership it was nor did he ask to see that quote in writing. He was so flexible and easy to work with, plus he had the exact vehicle in stock, we decided to simply buy it on the spot.

So, the way the numbers broke down, we got our Pilot for $26900+TTL (MSRP $34045 + Destination $550 = Sticker $34595). The final OTD price was $29442.71 (LA County tax) with no added options. Based on the MSRP, this is $7145 below MSRP. Given most people are getting somewhere between $6000 to $7500 off, I wonder if we could've gotten it even cheaper. There was another recent post where someone paid $27300 in SoCal for the 2WD, so I think this was not a bad deal. But most importantly, I appreciated how easy the whole process was and how easy it was to work with our internet salesperson.

For those people still shopping around, looks like it's definitely a buyer's market. I would highly recommend the Diamond Bar dealership to anyone looking for a smooth sale with pleasant salesmen. Just ask for the fleet manager directly.

BTW, we love the NAV system. The rearview camera was a nice feature which we didn't even realize it had. For a car under $30K, it's really a nice little added luxury.

I'm in the market for a EXL AWD with DVD. I've looked at several dealerships and got a quote of $29,400 for a demo with $1500 of extra equipment. That seems too high for a demo with almost 5,000 miles.

I emailed out to several local dealers last night with a target price of $28,000. That seems to be about the going rate. One dealer emailed me back about the unattainable number and offered one at $29,700.

It seems like the supply is pretty slim in DFW - are all the 2006's out and they are waiting for 2007?

Has anyone added an aftermarket DVD to a Nav Pilot??
  • mcdermott2mcdermott2 Member Posts: 68
It seems dealers have a lot of Black EXL's in the lot. I have never had a black car and am a little leary of that color, any input? In addition, the tan leather interior did not look as good(crackled) as grey.
  • tcplitcpli Member Posts: 8
Honda of markley is my local in town dealer. They are nice, but they quoted a much higher ($700) price. I suggest you give them a shot and see how far they can go. There internet department seems not working at all because I never get a quote via email from them.
I never received a email of quote from Tyrell-Doyle at all.
  • sarahgirlsarahgirl Member Posts: 8
I was looking into getting a black and when I actually went to the dealer to test drive it I was told that black attracts light and makes the vehicle very hot. My neighbor has a black Sequoia and says that she uses the AC 10x more because the car is always hot inside (as compared to her silver minivan). She also doesn't like the water spots and streaks that are left when she washes her Sequoia, it dries before she even gets around to the other side of the car.

I ended up with a Sage Brush, not stylish Black but still looks tough.

    Hope that helps.

    ram123,

What was the price you got on the 4WD-EXL?

Also, did they sell it with your Canadian address on the documents? Or did you use a US address? One dealer told me the Honda's database (where they enter the final sale details) does not allow the sale to a Canadian address. However, this guy did not sound he knows what he was talking about.
