The incentives ($1500 cash) that ended on the 6th are extended until the end of the month. The financing was nationwide before, but now it is different depending on what region you are in.

I am probably going to go ahead and buy now because it is a pretty big gamble for me to wait til March. Honda adjusted their production on the Pilot because of the large glut they had last year, so I don't really know if 10% reduction in sales is actually that much in the long run. I do suspect that once the new highlander is announced, it may lead to some more promotions/worry from Honda, not to mention they might be producing a new 08 Pilot.

the Pilot will be redesigned for '08. It's likely to show up in Aug. or Sept (my guess), but you'll pay MSRP or close to it for a newly redesigned Honda Pilot - for at least 5-6 months unless they build more than they can sell.

Last fall, Honda was offering $2,500 in factory cash to clear out the remaining '06's. My guess is the factory cash will return again when the '08 model hits the show room floor.

I called Clair Honda today...spoke to a salesman on the phone...he told me that you bought a demo for 26800.00...Can you please verify this for me. I will give you my email..if this is what you paid for a brand new EXL 4WD and no demo..that's a GREAT deal..and thats w/out the 1500 dealer incentive! Please get back to me as soon as possible as I am looking to purchase one right away..Thanks I tried to email this message to you but the email on this site is not working.

    Hi Tom,

I bought a car with just 5 miles on it when I drove it home. You can tell if it's a demo car or a brand new. Actually, we settled the price even before I decided which color I want. After we settled price, I told them I wanted a cherry color, they took the sticker of that cherry one to lock the car for me. When I saw that car, I changed my mind and asked for a dark green one instead. Then they found a green one with only 5 miles on the oddmeter. That's what I got.

would it be possible for you to email me a copy of the sale? I am having trouble getting any where near that price!

Can you tell me which dealer give you this quote?

    Thank you!

Looking for 2007 4WD E-XL with DVD entertainment best pricing -Are you saying you got $4,000 off sticker plus an additional $1,500 off based on the current promotion ending Feb. 28th.

    How did you negotiate this?
  • hondapilot1hondapilot1 Member Posts: 2
we just bought odyssey ex 07 and pilot lx 4wd 07, traded in our odyssey ex 04. We have to get both new cars at the same time for reasons that's not related to car buying.

We've found out that Careypaul Honda at Sneilville, GA to be the most helpful. I used helpful not pleasant, remember that. They've exercised some typical car salesmanship that would make no consumer happy, but that does not make me bitter too much because everybody nees to make a buck or two. But you do need to get ready for those salesmanship.

But if you can see through the smoke screen they put out, and do you homework, and most importantly come up with a realistic number based on your research not based on a negotiating tactic, Carey Paul Honda is the most willing to work out something with you.

The reason that I say that is that I need to get a black pilot lx 4wd, 4wd is non-existence in the South, plus I need black. Carey Paul honda is the only dealer that give me the what I wanted at a price that I can afford. I belive the reason that the saleman would be able to do that is because they have a very close and good support from their management, they actually got the car from NC.

The other dealers either try to tell me there is no lx 4wd or try to sell me just odyssey or just try to talk me into buy a used one. In short, they tried to sell me whatever they have. There is only one dealer that offer to get what I want but at a much higher price.

Another reason that I got the deal from CareyPaul is that they have a large used car dealership so if you have a trade in, they are a good candidate. I let them make a kill on my trade in to get good deals on my new car also get the lx 4wd in black.

all in all, you need to read the post in here to get ideas about what you need to pay to get what so that you don't get scared or pressured by them, rest assured that they are very good at it and will make you crumble if you don't know the number before hand. I showed them my research and that really make the process very short, equal less pain and frustration.

On the flip side of the coin, do not make car buying a trophy hunting, thinking I have to get the best deal or I have to match the deal that guy got, have some flexibility, a few hundred dollor wont sink you. as long as you are in a reasonable range, then a little flexibility will leave you happy and still want to drive new car. For example, a post saying that he got a LX 4wd in Chicago for less than what I paid, I initailly used that number to negotiate then I realized that 4wd is harder to get then I gave dealership a few more hundred dollar to play then they agreed to the deal, had I insist on that number I would not have been able to go anywhere.

Lastly, show calm and respect eventhough you know the otherside is making false statement or trying to pressuring you. After all this is just a process where everybody is just trying to have a few more dollar in their pocket. If you keep it professional and respectful with your salesman, they are more willing to help you.

The reason that I did not post the actual number here is that every situation is different, had I don't have that trade in, the price would be different, so process and the way to negotiate is more importatn.

    Good luck.

Did you get the car? What is the price you paid?
Which dealer did you go to?

    Thanks

Anyone can share the best price paid for the 2wd pilots in Chicago ares?

    Thanks
  • pilotnowpilotnow Member Posts: 3
This message is for soxfanz. The price you got for the 2007 Pilot EX-L was $26,800. Does that include the $1,500 discount? I am assuming that is before tax and title.

How did you negotiate this price? That looks like $2,700 less then the consumer reports bottom line price. I would really like to hear from you. Thanks

well, I like trophy hunts. that's the way america works! haha, you've seen all those people queue up outside stores on black friday night? well, Los angeles times reports that this is more likened to the caveman mentality, its like bringing home the hunt. so hunt away, i say, its human nature. and, do your homework, you can save a lot of money, just don't be sad someone got it cheaper than you after you bought it. cause we all know its gonna happen.

    Central New Jersey Pricing:
    2007 Pilot EX-L 4WD RES
    MSRP: 35,440
Invoice: 31,968 (which includes 595 des. charge)
Our price: 30,400 (which includes 595 des. charge, not tax, not title, not reg.)
so about 5,000 off MSRP and includes RES which you did not have.

Car buying/selling is very psychological. Due to forums like this, a great deal of all of those aspects can be identified. Some people hunt, some gather, and some wait for the big killers to finish eating and then pick the carcass clean with little effort involved. I agree (and expected and encouraged) that someone will be getting better deals than me. And I LOVE hunting for the best deal too, But in the spirit of these forums EVERYONE should gather information, make the kill, and share the tips and tricks that make your deal unique. :)

I went to 2 dealers in my area for a bottom $ on a 2wd EXL while they had these deals with interest rate going. The best I could get after sparring with the sales manager was $28,750 + tax, tag and I could get the interest. I also found out about the extended warranty problem in FL before purchase which really gives me pause on buying another Honda.
Has any one got any ideas on price or EW solutions? Thanks

soxfanz - is there any chance that you could email me the offer or sales contract for your 2007 EX-L AWD Pilot? The price you negotiated is $1675 better than anything I have gotten. All the people I have worked with promise to match anything that I can show them, but that means I need your help!!! Anything you can do would be great!
  • chandler111chandler111 Member Posts: 8
tom477 - I am trying to get a copy of the offer or sale from soxfanz... Were you able to get a copy? The $26,800 price on a 2007 EX-L AWD and otd price of $28,565 is almost too good to be true!!! If you have a copy, can you send it to me?
  • jithemanjitheman Member Posts: 4
I did not get the car yet. However, the initial offer was 26995 + TTL for EX-L 2WD. This is January price but I think it should be same now since they have 1500 rebate going on. I'm still waiting to see if there will be a better deal. Good luck!

    Hi Chandler111

I cannot do that because the contract includes some of personal information. The contract I signed was on Saturday, Jan 20th. The sales rep was Justin Schmid. I picked my car on Monday afternoon.

If they deny they sold the car to me at this price, I think they probably don't want to sell it at that low price anymore. You might either buy it at a price as low as you can get, or wait for a better time.

    Good luck

soxfanz - thanks for the update. It looks like the best deal I have gotten so far is $29,644 out the door pricing on the 2007 EX-L 4wd model. I have gotten a couple of other offers close to that. I talked to someone else up at the dealership where you got your SUV and they got down to to about $29,650. Both of these already include the $1500 cash back in the deal. They have promised to send a buyers/purchase order as soon as I reserve the car, so that I have the deal in my hand and can bring a check for that exact amount and not get into the whole scene at the dealership where they try to change the price! Thanks again for your information - the knowledge you shared has helped me to get down to a much lower price than I thought possible.

I have been following this thread for a couple of weeks now but did not see much information about the cost of extended warranty.

What do you guys think about extended warranty on an EXL 4WD NAV and how much are you guys getting this for?

    Thanks,

    Alfredo!
  • dickf2dickf2 Member Posts: 3
    chandler111,
those quotes look VERY similar to what I've experienced, $1,500 rebate, EXL AWD w/Navi: $29,844/$29,644 BUT before fees and taxes. You said OTD, are you sure on that?
  • soxfanzsoxfanz Member Posts: 15
A rep from Boch Honda left me a message (she was asking if I was still looking for a Pilot) saying that they are going to have a huge sale starting from Friday, Feb. 16th, through President Day. You might want to wait for a few days or ask them now and see if you can get a better deal.
  • chandler111chandler111 Member Posts: 8
dickf2- the price quoted to me on a 2007 Pilot 4WD EX-L (no naviagation or DVD player) was $28,658, which included freight/destination, wheel locks, pinstripe, and mudflaps. The tax was $859.74 and the fees (lein, registrationn, tags, etc) was going to be $127, which totals up to OTD of $29,644.74. This is a quote out of Baltimore. I am going to go with my local dealer, his best price is $29,700 OTD just so I won't have to drive all the way to Baltimore. I think that I might wait for the weekend, as soxfanz indicated they might run a President's Day weekend sale to see if I can get an even better price.
  • eaglepiloteaglepilot Member Posts: 19
That sounds very possible. I was quoted about $28,300 (before TTL) on a AWD EX-L. Of course, that was in GA, where I suspect AWD is not as popular.

I ended up buying a 2WD EX-L for $27,000. But I'm drooling over your apparent low taxes -- I had to pay 7 percent!

Hi all, New to the forum gig but thought I might share some info I just received from an Internet sales dept. here in Northern NJ.

THE FOLLOWING INTERNET SALES PRICE IS ONLY VALID THROUGH OUR INTERNET DEPT. *

Your special internet quote for a 2007 Honda Pilot EX-L 4WD RES is $29,985 INCLUDING the $595 destination charge, charged by Honda. The MSRP for this vehicle is $35,440 . Our internet department is a separate sales department at Mahwah Honda. Please make sure to ask for me when you call or visit our dealership.

Here's the situation I have a 2004 EX-L w/ RES sage brush pearl, with almost 53K miles on it. Currently leased through AHFC 42 mo. $479/mo. (15k mi a yr.)coming up on 40 months. It's residual is approx $19K. It's in great shape and my wife loves it.

My options are to buy it in May, throw some new tires on it and go from there.
Not to interested in leasing as my miles are excessive nowadays.
Or go with buying a new Pilot just like the one I have - Should I be wary of the Internet special stated above? are there any questions that I should be asking with regards to the pilot they are offering up? Thanks Bob
  • chandler111chandler111 Member Posts: 8
I don't think that you should be wary of an internet deal, just get them to put all the fees down in writing before you go in, so that you have an out the door price confirmed with them. A lot of them will try to add pinstripe fees and other little things once you get to the dealer if you do not have it all settled prior to the purchase.
  • chandler111chandler111 Member Posts: 8
I am not getting the extended warranty - so I cannot help you there. Sorry!
  • chandler111chandler111 Member Posts: 8
you may want to contact Koon's Honda in Manassas VA. They included in my quote something called Auto4Life, which covers your powertrain (engine, transmission, drive axle system, and internally lubricated parts) for as long as you own the vehicle, regardless of years or mileage. I am not sure if this is as good as your extended warranty, but may be worth checking out to see how it compares...

    eaglepilot,

Where in GA did you end up buying? I am getting ready to pull the trigger on an 2WD EX-L in the next couple weeks, and I'm trying to prepare. I am in Sandy Springs, but plan on blanketing 15 local dealers within 50 miles for bids. Thanks!

Anyone purchased a new Honda Pilot in the DFW area? What are some of the prices you are getting? :confuse:
  • ffxbuyrffxbuyr Member Posts: 11
chandler111 - I gather ur from NoVA, me too. I am thinking of getting the same car (07 Pilot 4WD EX-L), and will start emailing nearby dealers soon. Was your quote of $29,700 OTD from Koons Honda? Can u give me a short list of the dealers you took quotes from? Thanks much.
  • valemonvalemon Member Posts: 5
I am from NoVA and on 1/26 I bought 4WD LX for 25,274.85 OTD at Ourisman Honda Bethesda. I admit I hated the drive, but they beat Koons Honda and Leesburg Honda (my best 2 offers) by 500, as well as everyone else by 1K.

    1. Car 23,700.
    2. Dealer processing fee 100.
    3. Destination 595.
    4. Va tax (3%) 761.85.
    5. Tag & Title Fees 118.

I used Navy Federal for the loan at 5.5% and sold my old car to CarMax.

The sales manager is Lock (not sure if that's spelled right). I bet if you did some of your own math with the figures I have given you that you could finagle a similar (or even better) deal on what you want. If I had wanted to be persistent I probably could have not paid some of the junk fees....and if you get lucky, maybe closer to home too!

All in all it's a great car and the treatment at that dealership was very good. Good Luck!
  • ffxbuyrffxbuyr Member Posts: 11
thanks valemon, this is a good start and this dealer is going to be on my short list. I want to make a short list because I do not wish to give my contact info to so many area dealers - probably >20 within 60 miles!

Never bought a new car, found this site/string very informative. Am replacing wife's 11 year old Explorer with an 07 AWD EX-L RES in the next 2 months. Had some basic questions:

How do you get the color you want? Are you hoping the dealers have one on the lot or can get for you?

How do account for options in these prices that are posted. I want certain options, and am not interested in others that might be on the car sitting on the lot. Is that plain old haggling again?

Is there a sample letter out there that I can download/steal/plagiarize?

Thanks for advice. I'm excited to take the control away from the salesman/business manager, and leave knowing I paid a reasonable price.

    RS, Chesapeake, VA
  • eaglepiloteaglepilot Member Posts: 19
    Couple of things:

How you word the letter is pretty unimportant, IMO. The only thing I said was "give me your best price up front, because I'm contecting a number of dealers, and I'm not interested in haggling." But I don't think what you say has much effect on what they quote you.

My dealer was easily and happily able to bring in different colors from other local dealers. But I think they were able to do that in part because they are a relatively high-volume dealer. A smaller dealer might not have the leverage to do that.

There are very few factory options on Pilots. Are you referring to dealer-installed accessories? You need to look at the prices for those on the Web, and then don't pay more from a dealer. Most you can install yourself much, much cheaper.

Also, take a look at hondapilot.org ... they have a similar discussion there.

    Hello,
    I got a quote of $23,690 + fees for 07'pilot LX 2wd
+ 1500 for leather, in SFO bay area. Is this a good deal ?

Thinking of going down south to LA to see if it will be cheaper.
  • rickseericksee Member Posts: 6
    Thanks Eaglepilot,

Yes, it appears I am referring to dealer options (trailer hitch, day/night mirror, running boards, fog lights, etc)

I can the see the MSRP on the Honda site for these items and will assume I have to haggle on these at the dealer level, or I could include in my letter to the dealers and let the competition keep those prices low too.

Any advice from others on what is reasonable to expect to pay for those sort of options would be welcome.

    Thanks all.
    :)

    07 Pilot EX-L 2WD $27300 + TTL
Option: rear mud splash + trunk cover (1/2 price of msrp)

at Cleo Bay Honda in Kileen, Texas.

I chosed to finance 0.9%/3year so need to add $1500.

Also Gunn Honda in San Antonio give the same price but would not budge on Option price. The manager was pushing me to buy, that also not a good move for him. I like to do it in my own term.

ffxbuyr - sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I bought my 2007 Pilot EX-L 4WD last night so I have been very busy. I ended up buying from West Broad Honda in Richmond VA. I live in Richmond area. They were great to deal with! I was out the door for $29,700 just like they promised. That price already included wheel locks, rear mudflaps, and a pinstripe. In your area, I got OTD pricing of $30,240.89 from Koons Honda (Manassas), also got OTD $29,644 pricing from Heritage Honda (Parkville MD). The interent guy I worked with from Heritage was very nice and helpful. I paid $56 more in Richmond, but was worth it to not have to drive all that way up to NOVA. In addition, since I bought over President's Day weekend - I was able to get the $1500 cash back AND the 3.9% financing. Good Luck to you!

    Ricksee,

Don't even look at MSRP -- as with the car itself, it's meaningless. Go to one of these sites:

    http://www.hondacuraworld.com/
    http://www.hondapartsdeals.com/
    http://www.collegehillshonda.com/

Those will have prices well under MSRP. If you can install yourself, just order them. If you need the dealer to install, you'll pay steep labor, but at least make them match the price of the part.
