I paid 29,600 before TTL and Doc fees with 0,9% for 36m

    2007 EX-L 4WD

Your best bet is to call/email the Internet Managers of the Honda Dealers near you, they will give u a better bottom price than would a regular salesman. I had 5-10 quotes for my Pilot before I purchased it. Make sure you insist, what is your lowest price with 0.9%, also if they try to not let you have the financing b/c you got the rebate, be prepared to walk out, then they will cave in. Sales will tell you what u want, finance will try to jack you around.

Don't buy the fabric protector or alarm package, Pilot has alarm and leather wipes off.

GOOD LUCK, and just be prepared and now your pricing before u go in.

Also, u can get Honda Care online, such as the 7yr80k for 745, not the 1601 the finance guy quoted me...

After reading this site for the last several days I am wondering if what your thoughts are about honda extending this promotion ($1500 rebate/low apr) beyond February. Do you think better deals are to be had during the summer or not? Thanks

I purchased a 2007 Pilot EX-L 4wd for 27930+TTL from Continental Honda. Castle Honda was $200 more but still a great deal.

    Some helpful tips:

Get 10-20 bids via email or fax the last week of the month. The only way to flush out the true incentives. Only 1-2 out of 10 dealers will be seriously behind in his sales for the month so you need this many to get several real serious offers.

If you page thru 100 or so posts in the August-september 06 time frame, you can see that even unmotivated folks were getting 6500-7500 off msrp. (a few rare ones $8500 off) All of these were non navi or res (6000 off)

The Pilot wholesales about 10000 off msrp 1st year, so even with $5500-6000 off, they are hardly giving it away. Actually this depreciation is fairly good for vehicles in this segment.

The dealers tend to hold on to the Res or navi models, as only about 20% of them are manufactured as such. Thus a $2000 sticker difference may turn out to be a $3000 difference or more when you actually start to get and seriously negotiate bids. Something to think about when aftermarket navis are available for $400.

    Avoid the 2wd model.
No real difference in mpg and it is a crippled machine compared to the 4wd. Limited supply of the 2wd models may mean you actually save only $800 or less rather than the $1300 sticker difference when the bids start coming in and getting serious.
When perusing the board in aug-sept, I found that several people actually paid more for a 2wd than many were getting the comparable 4wd model for ... go figure. Half the machine to for little or no savings and a possible 2mpg difference. One guy insisted that the (posssible) 2mpg was worth it and he had some insurance savings... oh brother.

Oh yeah and if you are into that sort of thing, Honda is one of the few (only?) manufacturers that allows selling its (Hondacare)warranty competitively online. So take advantage of it check out myhondawarranty.com and others and dont pay $2000 or worse in the finance office for something you can get for $1100 online. If you must finance it at least get the prices to beat the finance guy over the head with.

    Happy Hunting

I got a quote from a dealer in Boston area for 2007 EX-L 4WD at $27833 including destination charge. But I am still hesitant because it is still more than my target price which is under $27000. The dealer told me that after the winter, the 4WD model's sale will be slowed down. Can anyone give me some advise for when is the best time to buy it? I am not in a hurry.

    Thanks

To all in Atlanta - Hennessey was great to work with when I bought EX-L in January. I used the Internet manager, whom I reached via a Cars Direct quote request. SHE was the most honest Honda salesperson I've ever dealt with in Atlanta, and this is Honda # 5 in my family in the last 15 years. See details in my earlier posts, but just to remind, for EX-L 2WD I paid:

    27,344.86 Car
1,914.14 Tax (7% DeKalb per where you live, not where the dealer is)
    29,259 Total
    41 Lemon Law
    29,300 Final, out the door

This was including the $1500 incentive, so I did not get the extra-low finance rates. I financed through American Honda at 6.10% for 60 months. Got rear mudguards thrown in too.

Oh, and for the record, I love this vehicle! Good luck all!

Just bought silver one yesterday, $22,349+TTL cash price at San Leandro Honda. This car has "old" invoice and there are not many left in this area.

    Window sticker is $27690
  • castle888castle888 Member Posts: 17
That a great deal for a 2007 EXL 4WD at $27833, as with everything, the dealer will make its money back thru finance interest on your loan if you finance thru them.
If you buy it out right with all cash, they will not be happy. If you can get the special financing 0.9 or 3.9 they will not be happy either, if u get that price and 0.9 financing, its a done deal!!!!!

I got mine for 07 EXL 4WD for 29,600, but i got the 0.9% for 36m on 20,000 financed, total interest paid will be 286 over the 3 yrs.

if i were to get the 48m at 3.9, interest total for 4yrs is 1632.00

if at 60m at 4.9%, total interest paid is 2044.00

say if u dont get financing thru Honda, say u get it thru a credit union at the cheapest rate of 5.9%
    48m= 2500.00
    60m= 3141.00

all this is based on is about a 20000 loan

    good luck

Lots of good research, have you priced leases? I am considering a 3 year lease and then buying the car at the end of the lease.

I have never leased a vehicle before, but on most car sites, u can use the lease or buy calculator based on your monthly payment and money down.

    Hi all,

I must be very dumb to purchase a Honda Care thru the financing department from my local Honda dealership.

I am so regret to pay > 2000 dollars for the 5 yrs / 60,000 miles Honda Care (isn't the Honda factory warranty covers the 5 yrs / 60k power-trim?).

Someone has mentioned about myhondawarranty.com and I could purchase it online. Additionally, I saw one ebay seller selling a Honda Care 8 yrs / 120k for 7xx.xx

    Would this be legit?

Can I cancel my purchased Honda Care and get my full amt refunded (or go back as part of my loan payment)?

ANY suggestions, advices would be very welcome.
  • castle888castle888 Member Posts: 17
From what I've read from the forums, I believe you do have a chance to cancel your hondacare and receive your refund, but you must be persistent and determined? Once you get your refund back, here is a link to the site you would like very much.

    www.hondacaresource.com

it looks up most of the honda dealers that sell it online

I'm looking at a 7yr/80k Honda Care Warr for 745. Saccucci Honda offers 12 equal credit card payments at no extra charge, i think all of the dealers charge a $24 admin fee,

still this is much cheaper than the 1601 the finance guy tried to mask on me, hahahahhahah

i could max out and get a 8yr/120k for 1230, not bad either

    good luck
  • plchanplchan Member Posts: 66
I checked my Honda Care contract that I could cancel it within first 60 days and get my money refunded to the "lender" since my car is under financing.

However, my main question is, the Honda Care I purchased includes the road-side emergency assistance. If I purchase on from Saccucci Honda, would I still get this road-side emergency assistance and the trip reimbursement in the State of CA?

Additionally, do I have to cancel the existing Honda Care, wait for the refund, then purchase a new one? I don't want to leave my car without Honda Care thou.

    Any thoughts?
  • castle888castle888 Member Posts: 17
I would presume hondacare is hondacare no matter where you get it from, If you are concerned, give them a call...im pretty sure, its all the same, the one u got has the finance guys bonus on it, take it back and get some nice accesories...

Once you cancel your Hondacare, u are without it, so once u cancel, i would get the other much much cheaper hondacare.. as long you know that your refund is coming, u will be fine.

don't worry, just by reading up on these forums, u already know more than 50% of the people who buys cars.

    good luck
  • plchanplchan Member Posts: 66
    Thanks for your reply.

One last thing is, how should I to be sure that refund would be on its way? Basically, the refund is from the America Honda, not from my local dealership, right?

I checked the myhondawarranty.com, and geez, the 8 yrs / 120k miles costs $1230, which it is more than $1000 less than what I paid for 5 yrs / 100K miles (sorry, previously I thought I purchased the 5 yrs / 60K. In fact, it is 5 yrs / 100K, which they charged me $1600 more!)
  • castle888castle888 Member Posts: 17
    easy

you call American Honda Finance Corp and check on it periodically, ask that it is confirmed and when would the credit hit your account, and what would ur new payment be...

If they tell you in 14 days it will take into affect. Call them on the 14th day to confirm, just stay on top of them,

for me, still contemplating, i had honda care on my last 2 honda's and my wife had one on her's, we NEVER used them, not even once. A friend told me, take that $1230, put it into a cd or high interest acct instead, this will be your honda repair money, if at the end of the 8yrs, nothing is happens to your car, that 1230 should be worth double 2500, if u never use a warranty, u don't get a refund at the end...This way, u have a pot of gold at the end of teh rainbow, if you never have to do any repairs....

is this your 1st honda by chance?

    hit me back here

You are correct. I am the first time Honda buyer. In fact, it is my first brand new car :)

I am going to call Saccucci Honda tomorrow.

I also found out a comment about www.honda-care.com would give you the money back if you don't use the service for once.
  • castle888castle888 Member Posts: 17
if its not in the contract written in clear english, it's just a comment, i have never seen this ever happen before with any type of warranties. Once they expire, used or unused, u get nothing back, period....

they can tell you what u want to hear, b/c at the end of 8yrs, they probably won't be working at that place anymore?

what did u end up getting, model lx, ex, 2wd , 4wd, color
    any accesories

    Hi Kyfdx,

Thanks for your link. I also read the cancellation request form from the dealership. It also mentioned the refund will be applied to my loan balance.

Should I wait for my first loan payment then cancel the service? or cancel now and purchase it from online?

I am going to ask more questions and research more before I cancel it. My concern is once I cancel it, Honda might not allow me to purchase a new Honda Care plan from other authorized dealers.

However, I know what / how I should bargain when I purchase my next new car.

Just bought a 2007 2WD EX-L through the fleet/internet department at HONDA CARS OF MESA :) and couldn't be happier with their professionalism and ethical sales practices. Paid $28122 + TTL + 290 DOC fee. A little higher than some others in this forum in other parts of the country, but made up for it on a great trade-in by getting $800 over KBB.

More importantly, they never tried to sell any of the BS "add-ons" that everyone else works into the deal. Overall, a really good experience and one that I would recommend. I went during the week when it was slow and was able to work the deal directly with the general manager. Their finance manager was equally as easy to work with.

*** I was unsure whether or not to list this since I know everyone has different experiences, but be careful of Bell Road Honda ... If you go, I recommend getting the VIN # of the specific vehicle you want and have them list everything they have tacked on to the price. My experience, in one word, BRUTAL. What a huge waste of time. Very unprofessional dealership... too many issues to list. Their trick is to get you in there with a low offer, add their basic package of "add-ons" for $1800 and then offer you $2100 under KBB for your trade. At that point, you will know its time to cut your losses and walk out.***
  • plchanplchan Member Posts: 66
what kind of add-ons were you talking about? the splash guard, wheel locks?

    Congrat to your new purchase.
  • nxschustnxschust Member Posts: 3
splash guards, wheel locks, window tint, cargo boxes, Lo-Jack, some sort of paint sealant... In all, Bell Road had this on all but one Pilot for the bargain price of $1800. Honda Cars of Mesa has about 50% of the Pilots as-is from the factory. You can get all that stuff if you want it, but you don't have to. Hope that helps.
  • plchanplchan Member Posts: 66
That is great. The one I purchased was the as-is from the factory. I added the lo-jack and other stuff. Otherwise, the Pilot would be just like the factory model as I requested.

Honda is really hurting with Pilot / Ridgeback / Element

    Hahahahaha.
    Yeah ... ok.
If ~$4500 off sticker is hurting, there are a good number of manufacturers who must have already bled to death by now. Yes, it is a good discount for a honda, to be sure. But they are still doing JUST FINE as a manufacturer.

Does your price $27833 include the DVD?. Can you pls tell me where did you buy yours? I am also living in Boston area and currently looking for one 07EXL 4WD with DVD.

After Christmas, a guy from a local dealer call me and offered 31K for the above model with DVD but I wasn't in hurry back then. Based on your price, I probably could go a little bit lower; right?

Do you call monthly sales decline of 10% to 20%
for Pilot / Ridgeback / Element for 5 consequtive month a success for Honda ???

I never questioned Honda success as a manufacturer ...

    What I said :

    IT IS TIME TO
MAKE GOOD DEALS on PILOT / RIDGEBACK / ELEMENT

FYI .. you can look at month by month Honda model sales here :

you said "honda is really hurting," not "it is time to make good deals."

And i never said it was a success, I said they are not discounting them as much as many other manufacturers are discounting their suvs.

Thanks for the link, by the way. I can see that truck sales for Honda in January are up over January of last year. Sounds like good news to me. What you are noting in the decline of larger trucks, I am noting as buyers getting the new CRV instead.

Paid $29,900+TTL by leveraging my best offer of 29,696.13 from Honda of Downtown Seattle -- I'm in a remote location in Eastern Washington, 4 hours from Seattle, so the competition is not great. The only extras included were wheel locks and rear mud flaps.

I contacted nearly 30 dealers in 7 states: Florida (Pompano, Sherwood), New Mexico (Alb), New Jersey (VIP), Texas (Houston, Reliant), Colorado (Denver), Nevada (LV), and California (LA area and SF area). The prices for a 2007 4WD LX were lowest in the LA area at $23,700 on up, but no one had my color (white). All my prices are OTD for the vehicle costs but excluding sales tax and licensing (non dealer costs). Not many 4WD move here in LA. The volume is reportedly highest in LA so prices can be low. Not many 4WDs in LA. By the way, my lowest price for the EX 4WD was $26,000 in LA.

Northern Cal's (more 4WD as closer to Tahoe) and NJ's prices were mid $24,000. Houston's lowest price was $24,300 (white) OTD. Florida's prices were $24,800+. NM's prices were mid $26,000 to high $27,000. Colorado's prices were low $26,000 to low $27,000. I live in Colorado but refused to pay the higher price as dealers here are a bit arrogant due to the record snowy winter this year.

A dealer in Santa Rosa (Manly) had my color and the 07 LX 4WD at $24,024 OTD, a bit higher than LA but my color, included the $1,500 dealer incentive and could NOT get the 0.9%. I bought it and shipped it to Colorado and still paid less than the local dealer's prices here. My lowest internet transport/shipping quote from N.Cal to Denver was $590 open, $890 enclosed door to door (auto transport 4 less). I got a special deal with my employer's moving company for about the same.

I accessorized my Pilot with mudguards, running boards, mats, cargo cover, cargo tray, and wheel locks at bernardiparts as they beat my lowest quotes (by $.01 and matched lowest shipping costs) from all the other web sites.

Love the Pilot and can't wait to tear up the snow.

Anybody have a prediction on whether Honda will keep the current Pilot incentives going through March? Could they possibly get better to close out first quarter? I hope so.
  • jfritschjfritsch Member Posts: 958
Read my message 8409. The Pilot (like the Ridgeline) wholesales 10k from list 1st year. It will not move without sizeable incentives. (its still better than most in its segment)

A review of the messages in July-Aug 06 will reveal easy purchases of 6500-7500 off list for most models as the 07s rolled out. You may be able to approach this now if you know what you are doing. There will be a sure repeat this summer. It was heavily incentivized in 05 also.

  • jrsuperstarjrsuperstar Member Posts: 16
I'm with you on this one....though I don't have a crystal ball, the smart bet is to wait until the Summertime to buy a Pilot. Unless you HAVE to have a vehicle immediately.

Waiting 4 months may save you an extra couple thousand bucks.
