I was at Coast Honda last night. I am interested a Ex with Leather and Navigation. I want to lease for business purposes. I thought the amount lease was high because the residual value was low (56%). They were strictly MSRP.

Has any one leased a Pilot? What residual value were you quoted for a 36 month lease? I could use some bargaining chips.

    Thx

Where did you end up buying your Pilot? What city and dealer?
  • leswlesw Member Posts: 11
Thanks for the tips about the dealers, it will save us a lot of time. I'm aware that David Michael is strictly MSRP,now I know the others to stay away from. Pls keep us posted on your progress with Coast.

My best price was at Bianchi Motors, Erie Pa. but I live in N.E. Pa. Burne Honda in Scranton Pa. gave me the $27,900 price for EX. Manager did say it was "special" price because they had some promotion going and this was the only one left without a deposit on it. I had to decide then and there or lose deal. I suspect dealers that were selling at MSRP will now start to think about better prices for customers. Those dealers I read about selling for cost seem like few and far between. I would say $1000 above dealer cost seems fair right now, though traditionaly $500-600 above cost is my target price for a fair deal. Good luck.

I am looking to lease a EXL-L. Been to several dealers. Best deal (hardly) was $200 below MSRP w/656 down for 484.26/month. This seems too high. Any thoughts. Shopping in central NJ.

lesw - we got the call friday night that our truck actually did arrive and we could pick it up Saturday morning. Everything went smoothly and the truck is in perfect shape with just 6 miles on the odometer. I asked and found out they wanted $207.50 for installed crossbars, so I asked her to do it while we were signing the paperwork .... done deal. I know I could have saved a few bucks by ordering them online and doing it myself, but I figured why waste all that time and energy.

By the way, if you happen to deal with them, ask for Patricia and tell her the Brosens sent you. She says we'll get a check for $50 for every referral that buys from her. Hell, I'll send you a check for $25 if they really do pay it.

To all - our new Havasau blue Pilot is incredible. We love it (especially my wife). Already put 200 miles on it in the 36 hours we've had it.

    Greetings all,

I found this board to be very useful when researching the Pilot, so I wanted to share the details of my purchase. This past weekend, I bought a black EX-L w/RES from a dealership in northern Virginia for $31,200. That price included an "appearance package" (pinstripes and mud flaps) and wheel locks. It did not include freight, $299 "processing" fee, tax and tags. The dealership had several Pilots on the lot, so maybe supply is catching up with demand for this car. I hope this information is helpful to others.

Well I called and talked w/ Patricia @ Coast Honda, she offered 300 below sticker for EX-l, so qbrozen is lucky to get it at that price. I guess shop some more for me.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,762
that sucks. sorry to hear it. Even the typically non-negotiable David Michael Motors offered $500 off through an internet inquiry. I know Patty told us that most likely she wouldn't do the same deal with anyone else that she did with us, but I wouldn't have expected that big of a difference. I'm disappointed.

Was that at the dealer in Manassas? The "appearance package" sounds familiar. We talked to them but ended up at a different dealer for the EXL-RES.

Bought Sage Pilot EX-Cloth 28530 + 6% Tax + TTL at actuals. Only Fee charged was $20 for registration service. From White Plains Honda in White Plains NY.

    qbrozen,
Congratulations on your new truck. The best of luck with it. I'm sorry, but you can forget $50.00
After visiting the New york Auto Show my wife decided to go w/Volvo. Since she will be a primary driver it is her choice.
  • andrewtran71andrewtran71 Member Posts: 840
I've only talked to one dealer and I was offered $2K off MSRP on either the Pilot w/NAV or w/RES. This same dealer offered only $1,800 off MSRP on the MDX.
  • wingermanwingerman Member Posts: 2
Nope, not Manassas, Tysons Corner. The list prices on those DIOs are simply absurd.

    Hi, all!

I've spent countless hours here on Edmunds.com researching my next new vehicle purchase, and have settled on the Pilot EX-L/RES in Taffeta White or Starlight Silver to be the newest addition to our Honda collection (the others being a 1992 Honda Accord EX coupe--Old Faithful--and a Honda CBR 900RR motorcycle). I'm looking to pay cash on one within 2-4 weeks.

Has anyone had a good dealings with or thoughts on Honda dealerships in Central Florida? I live in Orlando, but would be willing to drive to Tampa or Daytona for close to MSRP.

    Thanks in advance,
    Marilyn

    P. S. I've read EVERY message in this thread, to see what others around the country have been paying for theirs. FYI, I'm originally from Kaua'i, Hawai'i, where an EX is going for $36k WITHOUT any bells/whistles...ouch!
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,762
believe me, my wife also wanted the Volvo, we just couldn't go for that $10K difference. Even this $30K was a stretch for us, but I gave in to her (she is also the primary driver of said vehicle). ;)
good luck with it. Hope it works out for ya.

Thank you very much for all the postings. This site and the active participation of consumers here has enabled me to get a great deal on a Black Honda Pilot EX-L with Navigation which I recently bought from Bianchi at Erie,PA earlier this month at $2200 below MSRP. I live in northern Virginia near DC area and none of the local dealers responded to my request for quotes I submitted thru this site. I submitted thru autobytel thru a link provided by this site and one local dealer responded with a reasonable ( what I consider reasonable ) of 2,120 below the MSRP but I would have to wait a couple of weeks and opt for another color. The local dealership also had the $289 processing fee, which I found annoying and opted to drive up to Erie,PA. It is a seven-hour drive which was surprisingly not that bad. There was lot of construction on the PA turnpike but the traffic consistently was moving at or over 65mph. Took a one-way rental from Avis, which cost about $110 and stayed overnight in Erie at Days Inn . Our sales consultant Eric helped us drop the rental at the airport and provided a ride back to the dealership. Took the delivery of the vehicle by lunchtime and drove it back the next day. It is an awesome vehicle and I could not be more satisfied with my purchase. Now I am just waiting for certificate of origin to be mailed back so that I can register the vehicle here in Virginia. Once again thank you very much for all the postings and active participation.

Hi Andy3927. You have a very good deal.
How did you get a quote from a dealer 7 hours driving away ? Thanks.

    Hi, Andy,
Can you please post the final number you paid EXCLUDING tags/taxes etc.?

    Thanks!

Purchased an EX with cloth at Fowler Honda in Norman,OK. Emailed 3 dealers in the OKC area Wednesday morning, and drove home in NEW Pilot EX Wednesday afternoon. Fowler Honda quoted $1500 under MSRP. Easy deal and fair price on Trade-In.
  • andy3927andy3927 Member Posts: 7
I came across previous reviews from folks on this board about Bianchi at Erie,PA and e-mailed them asking for a quote. Most of the details were pretty much flushed out over the e-mail and phone. Their entire transaction/processing fees boils down to $85 which includes some courier fees and local taxes and temp tags. So the amount I paid Bianchi is $32980 (MSRP) - $2200(Discount) + $85 (processing/local tax/temp tags). Of course I am due Virginia State local use tax of 3% of transaction which I have to pay at the time of registration. Hope this helps.

There aren't many pictures of LX on the web. It is uglier than EX though.
  • jogajoga Member Posts: 1
I bought a Silver EX cloth from Park Honda I live in the Philly area they arranged for a shipper and shipped me the vehicle. The total costs were $27,200 + $75 (Title and Temp Tags) + $380 for shipping. The Trucker met me at a local mall since it was easier for him to unload the vehicle there. The entire deal was done by email, phone and Fedex. It took about two weeks from start to finish. The Internet Manager at Park Honda was honest, straight forward and a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend Park Honda and the buy in Ohio and ship strategy. Local dealers were not willing to budge from MSRP and the best deal I got locally was a dealer in NJ who was willing to do $1000 off MSRP.
Thanks to atalalay, masspilot, kman73 for their postings.

I bought a Pilot LX, in Starlight Silver, from HondaTown here in New Orleans, for $24535 + $460 destination and handling. The TTL was extra, and it was 8.75% taxes + $125 for the other Title, etc.

It is the base model, nothing fancy, but the dealer had applied some nice looking stripes, and a couple of knick knacks. I have an older (1997) Honda Civic, and love it.

I don't know if you are willing to drive to Jacksonville or not, but I beleive that Coggin Honda on Atlantic may be willing to negotiate off the MSRP. Not much, but I know that they aren't charging over MSRP. If you go there, talk with Tom Jordan. He is probably the least pushy salesman they have there. He is very fair, will not try and mislead you. Good luck, wish I could afford the Pilot. Just way out of my pricerange.

your right about one thing, We are still on or about MSRP. The demand is still a month or so behind. But if the demand and market bears it, why can't I sell them for that.

He didn't say you couldn't or shouldn't sell at MSRP. He said buyers shouldn't buy from you at that price. Big difference.

What you are saying is exactly the line I got from several dealers here in Jersey. And those are the dealers I didn't buy from. You are getting that price, and I certainly understand that. You just didn't get MY business, that's all.

I also find it funny that ALL the dealers I talked to who claimed they could sell all their orders at MSRP, without fail, told me they had one or two in stock that I could buy. Hmmmm... "all sold and backordered" but "have in stock". Those 2 phrases just don't go together in my book. In any case, the dealer I did buy from who gave me a deal truly DIDN'T have any in stock at that moment. Guess that's the difference between those willing to give a good deal and those who are not.

"the line" that I don't have any is the truth. I am 1-2 months behind depending on the color and trim level. If I get your business or not is regardless I will get business period. If you don't buy it and leave I will forget your name in about 20 minutes and just before I sell it to the next guy. So go ahead, ship them in from Alaska, I don't care. I personally will still sell 10 trucks (Pilot, Odyssey, CRV) and with 10 cars with my bonus and salary I will be around $7,500 this month. It hasn't even hit summer yet...WHOA ! Your right, it is funny.....all the way to the bank......I am sure I will get some good responses on this one....YES...lovin it
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,762
You go ahead and sell them for that price. Good for you. Again, I never said you shouldn't. I am, however, saying that the consumers shouldn't buy from you. And you just explained why they shouldn't.

And here is a little tip for you... because I'm such a nice guy. If you chase away 5 other customers with your attitude while selling to those 10, that's 5 less sales. You could have sold 15. You still would get those 10 full-priced sales and 5 more at, let's say, $1K less. That's still a big profit for the dealership and still a big commish for you. Then you'd be laughing all the way to the bank with a bigger paycheck. There's a "WHOA" for ya.

thanks for the tip friend, but as mentioned I am NOT losing any deals to begin with. Every Pilot allocated to our dealership is sold before it lands. I don't chase anyone away, I just use up ink in my pen selling the ones I get. So come summer when I DO sell 15 trucks because of getting more because of the season....well thanks for what I have to look forward to...WOW do the math, I'm even more excited, you?

Hey, I don't mind. I think hondaguy could bring this right back on topic by telling us what dealership he works at. Would help the folks here quite a bit to know where NOT to go if they want a good deal on their new car. And it shouldn't bother him to tell us since he is so incredibly confident that he's got plenty of sales already.

Gotta comment that I love the "screw the salesman" comment. Uh... according to you, you don't even need us, so how are we screwing you?

Speaking of Tri-state pricing, I posted a little while back that, if you email them, Turnersville Honda will send you an internet price (ours was $1K off MSRP on an EX-L). Like I said before, Coast Honda is who we bought from, but other folks' deals have varied from them.

For everyone here and for everyone who will be here looking for advice:

Don't fall for those salespeople who give you the story of how you have to pay MSRP because they can't keep these vehicles in stock. They want you to believe that they are all sold and you HAVE to pay MSRP if you want one. Don't let them sucker you. They are all full of it. Like I said, every one of them gave me this same story and every one of them came back with "well, we do have one or maybe 2 that you could drive home today, but its still MSRP." These folks will tell you till they are blue in the face that they got MSRP for every single one because they want YOU to be another sucker and pony up every last penny. They want to scare you into thinking that if you don't buy theirs, you won't be able to buy anywhere cause they are ALL SOLD. Oh, yeah, and "other dealers are getting OVER MSRP." Uh-huh. Tell me another one. Its like anything else, shop around till you find a nice salesperson who will give you the deal you are happy with.

In one post, you say that you only sell at MSRP because you sell out your dealer allocation w/o even trying, and the next, you say you want to work with us. So, which way is it? :-)

Personally, I believe in a free market, and I could not care less what you sell them for. If you can make a boatload of cash out of it, good for you. Hopefully, you'll spend a good chunk of your income, and that's good for the economy :).
I only care how much I will have to pay for my next car. That's what gbrozen has said all along, and he never called anybody names. He just wants the best deal he can get, like most ppl on this board.

The funny thing is that it seems that a lot of shoppers are starting to get good deals.

Buying a new vehicle is like a game.its a head game...The misinformed, uneducated, weak get suckered every day by these slimy tactic's salesman/ dealerships pull..most salesman know for every smart shopper there are 10 other people they will rip off.. fact of life. most dealerships think the consumers are all idiots.. what kills me is when demand out weights supply its all these pomp/ [non-permissible content removed] arragant sales people who think cause the times are good they can dis the consumer.. if your smart you will never buy from any dealership like that and tell all your friends/family never to give them your buiness thats how you hurt them..THATS why i encourage every one in this forum to use the formula.. THERE IS NO NEED TO EVER STEP FOOT INTO ANY DEALERSHIP UNLESS YOUR PICKING UP YOUR NEW VEHICLE. Use the internet and buy by phone. you use your salesman if you want to test drive and find out about certain cars and options. you never discuss price there is no need to.. BY buying over the phone its fast easy and stress free..you also weed out all the slimy tactic's and hidden charges dealerships try to hit you with. it's a simply answer your looking for when you call any dealership.. will your dealership meet my price? if not, what is your best offer. For this price i buy today thank, you have a nice day on to the next dealer.IN MY 20 YEARS OF BUYING NEW CARS for every dealer that says i cant do that price or You will never get that vehicle for that price.. there are 5 dealers looking to take my money. GBROZEN no need to waste any more of your valuable time posting the truth about certain dealerships and salesman.. we the consumers in the pilot forum expose all the ugly when it comes to the art of the sale... thats who ever will listen and learn the tricks. happy piloting
