It is recommended to wait. The situation will get worst before it gets better.

I got a quote on a 09 Pilot LX for $23,300. That is the lowest offer I have had yet. Anyone gotten lower or is this a deal to snag?
  • LfromAnnapolisLfromAnnapolis Member Posts: 1
I received a quote of 32,800 for an EX-L with RES. They are not showing any marketing support - that works out to slightly ~500 below invoice.
  • SeeMeAtTheSeaSeeMeAtTheSea Member Posts: 2
I just drove a 4wd Touring w/o RES off the lot in N. VA for $36,675 including wheel locks, cross bars and ResistAll :shades: .
  • SeeMeAtTheSeaSeeMeAtTheSea Member Posts: 2
Should have said (if not clear), above $s included tax, title and fees.
  • lxpaddylxpaddy Member Posts: 16
Is that 2wd or 4wd. Even it is just 2wd. it is already 1700 below the invoice. Seems good too me. I am looking for the Ex 4wd now. So far I only get quote for 28,500 , that is just 400 below the invoice. I think if I can get the price to 27,000. I will conside that is good deal. where are you live. Kat2800. Can you tell me which dealer you got this quote? Thanks!
  • lxpaddylxpaddy Member Posts: 16
Seems the best deal should be the invoice price for OTD. Or I am too greed.
  • kat2800kat2800 Member Posts: 23
This is the 4WD LX model I was quoted on. I live in MA and the dealer is Commonwealth Honda. The guy I have been working with is great and seems to be reasonable. This is the exact quote from the email I got:

"The List Price on this vehicle would be $29,865.08 and the Invoice is approximately $27,126. Our net cost on this model with all incentives, rebates and coupons would be $23,373. Our best price is the price that beats any other dealership. It's our policy to beat any bona-fide deal by up to $500.00. By deal I mean the best price for my vehicle the most money for your trade and the best terms in financing. So why leave money on the table and as Charlie says, " Shop Us Last..You'll Love Us".

I may actually get to finance rather than lease this!
  • lxpaddylxpaddy Member Posts: 16
Thanks,Kat2800. I live in west MA. I sent the quest for the quote to commonwealth Honda already. Let see how good they can do. Please keep post here. Then we all can find better deal.
  • kat2800kat2800 Member Posts: 23
Are you planning on a lease or to buy? What model?? Mine was the basic LX but no other dealer around has them in stock. Good luck.
  • lxpaddylxpaddy Member Posts: 16
I am planning to buy.4wd EX. but if I can get much better deal on LX than EX. I will go for LX.your quote almost 4000 below the invoice. Did you try the boch honda dealer.http://www.boch.com/bochhtml/BochHonda/pages/Default.aspx. Seems someone get good deal on EXL. Ask them to see if they can beat the 23300.
  • lxpaddylxpaddy Member Posts: 16
Sorry, Kat, I just found bochhonda does not have LX.

I've leased and bought a number of cars myself and I completely agree with other golic's post, but here is handy calc for you to get some estimates:

    http://www.cars.com/go/advice/financing/calc/loanCalc.jsp?mode=full

I just ran numbers on 09 Pilot EXL and it looks like its about $900 more for lease to buy vs buy. Hope this helps.
  • tedkatedka Member Posts: 6
Very true - in general down payment on a lease is a baaaaaaaaaaad idea.
  • newpilot1newpilot1 Member Posts: 9
I received a quote for $33495 on MSRP of $39065 for a 2009 Pilot AWD Touring. Has anyone been able to do better than this in December? Will the incentives get better in January? On a 36 month 15k miles/year lease this will be roughly $500/month with $748 down. Any thoughts?

  • ed111ed111 Member Posts: 22
newpilot1, which dealer offered you that price? Was that for the Touring AWD w/o RES model?
  • w2kidsw2kids Member Posts: 2
Pilot EX-L $30,799 including dest and doc fee. +TTL
Best price so far from my area - New Orleans, Slidell, Gulfport, and Mobile.
  • lxpaddylxpaddy Member Posts: 16
Kat2800, today I got quote from same dealer . but they quote me much higher on LX. 24443. How come??? They wrote me same email except diffrent number.

Thank you for your inquiry. We have a great availability of the 2009 Honda Pilot LX . The List Price on this vehicle would be $28,265 and the Invoice is approximately $25,665. Our net cost on this model with all incentives, rebates and coupons would be $24,443. Our best price is the price that beats any other dealership. Just purchased a 2009 Pilot AWD Touring Navi no DVD in the SF Bay Area for $34,499 including destination fee.

well route 23 honda in nj offered us 1% over invoice with 1.9 financing for the 4wd touring w/ nav/res. blackinterior and black exterior. (they had to send for it)
and we are taking it. i know we should wait but i am very sure that the day after i sign the papers honda will offer a ton of incentives. (aint that always the way? lol :P  )
we needed a new vehicle. and this one is my last momobile. (13 years of minivans and now i live in the mountains)

i wish you all good luck in your pursuit of the cheapest price paid!!!! ill keep you posted on how well the sale went etc...

Boch Honda in MA has the following:

    2009 EX $298/mo + TTL + nothing down based on MSRP of 32,630 36mos at 54% res

In a separate ad they're showing same model with an MSRP of $28,888

seems to me the better deal is the lease or i'm not adding something up correctly....

i'm thinking of pulling the trigger ont he lease with the bet that gas prices will rise in 3yrs and the value of the car will be <54% of today's msrp.

it was only a few short months ago that everyone was dumping SUVs...

would hate to get caught in the "gas is cheap again" mentalitly bc it's only going to last so long...

Hey there guys, did anyone has been able to get a good deal on remaining inventory from 08?
  • wonder009wonder009 Member Posts: 8
After several month reviewing this forum, I think I need to contribute some information. I just purchased a 2009 pilot EXL-2WD today, the final price is $30406 which including destination charge, no doc fee. He also throw me a cargo matt ($175 value) and wheel locker ($125 value). I think that is a good price. I did not negotiate much about the price. Seems they are eager to make a deal, or maybe there is a new factory to dealer rebate. Anyway, I think it is good time to buy before the year end. Good luck to your hunting!!
By the way, I live in MS.
  • sunnyfl1sunnyfl1 Member Posts: 19
Follow up : I got a quote from Pompano Honda here in the south FL area.
2008 EX-L $32,715 MSRP for $25,421 plus Taxes and tag and NO dealer fee.

I will take the offer to Potamkim Honda (they still have over 12 pilots from 2008 on inventory)

I will post if I can get these guys to go any lower.
  • shopper20shopper20 Member Posts: 7
Are you sure that was for an EXL and not an LX? Or is it because they are trying to offload a 2008 model?
  • shopper20shopper20 Member Posts: 7
Which dealership and who was your contact?
  • tjb2648tjb2648 Member Posts: 3
Hello. This forum is a great place to you feel comfortable about buying a new car. I just bought a 2009 Honda Pilot EX 4wd for 29350 out the door with 3.9 % financing. All fees included. Think the invoice is around 29000 for this car. Do you think this is a good deal? I live in New York.
  • lxpaddylxpaddy Member Posts: 16
I think it is good deal. Can you tell little bit more details.what is tax there?5%? what is exactly price for the car?how much down you put? I think you pay 27800 for the car. like I post before. If you got something like the invoice for OTD. That is good deal for now. Congradulations.

I am looking for an EX or EXL depending on Price. Currently the best I can find is right around invoice. What dealership did you get that pricing @?
I am trying to purchase right now and cannot get close to that. Or do you think it is better to wait until new rebates come out.
If anyone else has any ideas on Dealerships in New Orleans area within 200 miles that offers a great value please reply.
  • w2kidsw2kids Member Posts: 2
Treadwell Honda in Mobile, AL gave me the best price. Just request a free quote through cars.com.
My wife is ready to buy yesterday, I hate to buy now if the incentives will get better next week. but that may be wishful thinking.
  • sunnyfl1sunnyfl1 Member Posts: 19
Yes, confirmed is not an LX is an EXL 2wd with sunroof / leather but no RES.

Got contacted today by another dealer offering the 08 EXL with RES for 25K
  • TiredBuyerTiredBuyer Member Posts: 10
Which dealership in MS? How much was doc fee? If you had a trade in were they fair or low ball you? Thanks
  • newhondafamilynewhondafamily Member Posts: 2
I've found these forums helpful in researching my lease, so I'll post my results to help others get the best deal they can.

    $247 per month (incl. tax @ 7.75%)
$2688 down (incl. dmv, title, 1st payment & doc fee)
$28265 MSRP (final gross cap cost is $23011)
    $21016 cap cost (after reductions)
    50% residual value ($14132)
    .00110 money factor
    36 months
    12k miles / year

Let me know if this was a good deal or not, in So. California, or otherwise. I think the residual value is a little high, but the other details look good. How'd I do??? :)
  • tjb2648tjb2648 Member Posts: 3
Thanks for the response. The tax in ny is 8.625%. The tax was 2343.41 The exact selling price was 29170. The final price after a few fees was 29380.91. I put 5k down plus a trade in for another 2k. Think the payments came out to around $466 for five years at 3.9%. After going to a few place think the best I could of got would have been maybe 100 to 200 more off the price but i was happy with my trade in amount for the car. This site has been a tremendous help in my negotiations. Thanks again.

Hi there. It is Paul Moak Honda in Jackson, MS. Actually I went to Patty Peck Honda (in Ridgeland MS, just few miles away from Paul Moak Honda) two weeks ago. We negotiated the price as $30595 plus $175 doc fee, but they give me a unacceptable price on my trade in (a nice 03 frontier with low mileage). So I sold my truck myself last Friday at a much better price ($1200 over the deal offered). I went to Paul Moak Honda, the final price of EXL-2WD I bought was $30406 (including destination charge). He initially want to charge $175 doc fee but after negotiating he took that off. I get two years financing with 1.9% APR. If you are a good negotiator I am sure you will save some additional $$. I can see right now the business is pretty bad and they want to make deal with you.
By the way, the sales person's name is Tim. If you want to come here, I suggest you buy the vehicle on Dec 31.
    Good luck.
  • wonder009wonder009 Member Posts: 8
By the way, the tax rate in MS is 5%.
  • nikbertnikbert Member Posts: 20
+ dealer options (almost mandatory in Houston area) of pro-pack (fabric prot, paint sealant etc), mud flaps, tint, cargo mat, wheel locks = Total 35350 + TTL

Felt like it coulda been lower - but then thats bargaining for you!

The scumbags at Honda Cars of Katy did a complete bait and switch routine with us with a low ball price to draw us in.

Ultimately we bought the car from Goodson Honda North, super nice salesman, usual irritating mgr. Visited twice to get the final price.

Haven't driven the car much, but enjoyed whatever little I drove. Stupid shifter keeps getting in the way though!

Thanks all here and hope this helps someone!

tjb2648, I am little bit confuse here. is the exact selling price 29170 include the 2343.41 tax? I could not get your number right, Or you just get approximately number here. I figura out the thing you pay is about 27100( for car) + 2343 (tax) + 110 (fee). is that right? Or totally you pay 29170 (for car) + 2343 (tax) +110 (fee). Please confirm your car is EX AWD. Thanks for your sharing.
  • fuscfusc Member Posts: 1
I know this is late in the game, but we are buying an EXL AWD with Res in the next few days, since our other car had a chance encounter with another vehicle.

Is 33k good for the exl awd with res?

    Thanks,
    Anthony

That is so amazing the experience you had with Honda cars of Katy, because I had the exact same thing happen to me. Me and my family also had a low ball deal at the Katy Honda dealer which all seemed great until we figured out just how the deal got there. By extending pay period from 5 years to 7... What a freaking Joke these people... I told them my payments needed to be around 420 a month for 5 years on an EX model. And that the price of the truck and the deal needed to be made possible by my terms or no deal... They tried so hard to get me to sign with the impression that I was getting what I had asked for. Good thing I had called them out after looking at the paperwork carefully.

Well, after a heated exchange of pure disqust, I left... 3 days later I had a great deal working at Goodson Honda in Houston. Even got in at a time where Honda had the 2000 rebate. Ended up with EX-L for an incredible offer with payments of 418 a month. Both of these deals was with a trade in. Goodson also gave me a much better trade in value on my car I had hoped for from an individual purchase type price.

So, do your homework on not just the car, but where you buy it from...

    Congrads on your new Pilot!

Ok I feel compelled to share my experience since reading this forum helped me to make my decision.

Initially I was looking for an 08 EXL (sunroof / Leather and RES) and got the lowest price $25,421 + tax + tag and NO dealer fee on a Silver EXL @ Pompano Honda (45 min from Miami downtown) I already had quotes from Potamkim, Brickell and Braman.

Went in today(Pompano Honda) @ 6:PM and was helped by Laura (Really nice non-pushy person) she showed me the 08 EXL , however once I was there and compared side by side the 08 against the 09 and made up my mind.

The price for the 08 EXL was almost the same price as the 09 LX, but I decided to push it to the 09 EX......the main differences are the Wheels (ugly on the LX) plus the roof rack, the rear climate control, the interior is way bigger on the 09.

So here is my final deal:

2009 EX 2wd (Formal Black with gray interior) MSRP $31,165
Vehicle includ accessories, delivery installation charges $28,030
Tax + registration fees in NY (I'm from NY working on a project in FL) $2,681
    Documentation stamp fee $112
    Dealer fee was Waived

Total out of the door $ 30,823

I also got the Honda financing 3.9 for 60 Mos (monthly payment is $554)

I hope this info would be of value for somebody :)

    Happy New Year

After lurking here for a long time, I finally pulled the trigger and thought I'd share my experience.

Had a very good experience with Honda World in Westminster, CA. Martha in internet sales was great to work with and very aggressive on price. I did a lot of research and shopping and she was extremely professional - no game playing, etc.

Here are the details on my 36 month lease:

    MSRP: $39,065 (includes $670 destination)
Cap Cost: $33,822 + 595 acquisition fee (note: this includes a credit of $1,250 for lease cash available to dealers. Had I not leased, the car would have been $35,072)
Residual: 43% or $16,797.95 (15,000 miles per year)
Drive Offs: $980 (first month payment plus CA DMV fees and $45 doc fee)
Money Factor: .0011 (no mark up on national rate)
    Monthly Payment: $545.76 plus tax

Love the car so far. The price was very competitive and they were very good with my trade in as well. In and out of the dealership in 2 hours.

Also, I bought an extended warranty to cover the excess mileage. The dealership matched the internet price I brought in, so I was happy with that as well.

I was at Honda World in Westminster, CA today and was quoted by the internet department for the 2009 Pilot Touring 4WD with RES $37,643 +TTL.

I don't know if the Honda incentive will come back but I holding out until 2010.

I think the manufacturer to dealer leasing rebate is $1,500 instead of $1,250

well we pick her up today. just in time for the snowstorm tomorrow. lol...
they lowballed the wholesale price on my trade in . a 2002 good condition oddy. low miles.
i looked at him and said " i will walk out this door and email every dealer in the tri state area. for their best price. i know for a fact that you all have a ton of inventory and cant move the pilots. "
he dissapeared and reappeared with the mgr. who then went up 1200 on my trade in.. AMAZING!

they arent charging us for any prep fees.

bit dissapointed by the runaround by route 23 honda. and i told them that. point blank. just as my 2 year old screamed... "i wann drive a honda" "i wann drive a honda" :surprise:

    Selling price: 32143
    Free Tint
Mainly negotiated my 2006 Nissan Altima SE trade to a price as much as KBB. Most dealers were quoting $2000 less than KBB.

After negotiating, I told them I wanted to lease than buy.
36 month lease with 12000 miles per year. Excess mile at 0.15 cents per mile.
    Residual was 47%
Money Factor: 0.00110 (Super Preferred Tier)
Free Oil Change for 3 years
Free Windshield Insurance for three years
Additional discount of $280 was thrown in at last minute.
Zero down and no security deposit.
