I never thought about that, but I would say its true since when you go to trade a car in or sell it, the accessories you have added to it mean absolutely nothing in terms of its value.

what lease numbers are you getting (i.e. monthly payment and amount due at inception?)

Just locked in a deal for an 04 Pilot for 1500 over invoice. It was an internet quote which seems to get you a bigger discount for some reason. I made the deal with Wilde Honda in Waukesha, WI. The buying experience has been very good so far. It's an 80 mile trip south for me to pick it up, but it's well worth it. None of the local dealers in my area could even touch this deal. The build date for my Pilot is between 9/13 and 9/17. I can't wait!

Doc fees are a profit center for the dealer, but the alternative is to take an hour (or three) to do it yourself. $50 may be worth it if you don't know your way around the DMV. Lots of DMVs are getting better with customer service so don't rule it out immediately.

I've never leased a car, but I would imagine that everything is negotiable. I don't understand why the value of the accessories you are paying for aren't included in the price of the vehicle. If not, then I would be sure and remove those accessories when you turn in the vehicle, as you evidently own them. Otherwise you are paying for stuff that the leasing party gets to keep when you turn in the car. I would either not get the accessories or buy them later from somewhere else so that you can take them off when you turn it in. Sounds like more fluff and profit for the dealer at your expense. Just another reason not to lease, although nobody asked me.

Looking for a '04 Pilot in Texas Panhandle (perhaps Okla). We have one local dealer. They have a waiting list till late Oct/Nov for 04s. Anyone ordered one from this area? What is going price?

Anyone know what are the differences between a 2003 Pilot EX-L and the 2004? Sales people don't know. They are just "order-takers" because they can't keep the Pilots on the lot more than 24-48 hours! I just bought a 2004 ($1500 less than MSRP) I'm happy, but still think I paid too much.

04 has heated seats, heated mirrors, second row seats slide ~100mm, newer horn, and better chime for brake/seat belt.

Can you provide name of dealer/saleperson.

The name of a dealership would be fine but, please, no contact information including names of salepsersons, phone numbers etc. See the header at the top of this page.

I bought a 03 EX-L With DVD and chrome bumper garnish and door mirror cover(chrome), for lights, Lower trim (front bumper) ,splash guards(Both), Side steps, Backup sensors(broke on back order),Cross bars,Trailer hitch..cant tell if its the whole kit or just the hitch, wood trim in the whole truck and wood steering wheel and shifter. It had 7500K Miles I traded in a Expedition EB .I was sick of the MPG 15 AVG on the Highway, 9 in the city I got 11k for it (1997 75K). I bought it at John Chezik in Kansas City, MO .Great people. I lookup the price on the honda Web site and it would have cost at least 36K thats without them putting the item in the pilot. First tank all H.W. 24MPG next was 20 mixed. a little small but a nice ride. chris

Ok, please help me out here. Until this am, we were 100% planning on buying a 2004 Sienna, because the ody didn't have 60/40 rear seats along with other various reasons. We have three kids and the pilot is a little short on space, but I absolutely LOVE it (opinions accepted on this decision too :+)

Anyway, here is what they offered at our dealer for one on the lot right now...It is an EX-L with DVD, Fog lights, running boards, cross bars, auto dimming compass mirror, ummm, what else? Anyway, they are offering it to me for $32,500, not including fees, taxes and stuff...what do you think? Is this a good deal? Please respond as I am supposed to decide between the two vehicles by 9 am tomorrow!! YIKES!

If you need the room go with the mini van, if you want the all wheel drive and a suv go with the Honda. That looks like a good price new EX-L DVD cost about that with no options. You be lucky to get them down 1k below sticker.. let use know what you did .Its like you are getting the options for free and they are selling a sticker price.

  • ajsakoajsako Member Posts: 22
You are correct, that is exactly what they are doing. I really like the one on the lot (It's sage brush, what do you all think of that color??) They are offering it to me at the sticker price, minus a couple hundred dollars, and not charging me for the dimming compass mirror, fog lights, crossbars, and running boards! I am so torn right now, I am afraid to pass up the space in the 2004 Sienna (ours would have moonroof, backseat roll down windows, two power doors, power hatch, among other things). The pilot however would be an suv instead of a van, with 4 wheel drive (we are in Ohio, so we definitely have winter!!!) and very similiar to the CRV I have now...just can't decide if its practical with three kids (and carpool) in the winter when they all would have to crawl in!!)
    Any more suggestions?

we looked at minivans, tahoes, expeditions, yukons, suburbans, drove em all, ended up with a pilot. The new sienna is nice but it's still a minivan. And we have one 22month old and two more due end of october, that's why we looked at a bigger car (replaced a 99 ford explorer). We could not pull the trigger on a minivan, if you need more space buy the extra luggage carrier, we did. good luck!
  • ajsakoajsako Member Posts: 22
Thanks so much for responding! That's great to hear! My biggest fear is that I will get the Pilot and regret not having more space. The stroller space is a big issue, but I guessed some configuration of the seats should make it possible! Thanks for your help!
    -April
  • jbrutvanjbrutvan Member Posts: 13
yep, you can still get that stroller in the back area. if you find you need more space sell your pilot, they will hold their value fairly well (for a car). By the way, ours is a sage brush pearl, it hides the dirt very well, and we live in ohio too! oh ya, dont forget you have 5 stars safety rating on all except for 4 stars on roll over resistance, better than a volvo xc whatever. not sure on how well that sienna did. The sienna is the only minivan that will hold three car seats in the middle row, thus making it a functional vehicle but it is still a minivan.

I live in Northern VA, just bought my Pilot last week after Isabel. Dealer quoted $32,370 with freight. I have them pay for freight ($460) and process fee ($289)in VA. So my actual cost for my Pilot is $31,900 VA TAX, TAG not included. I do not know if I get a good deal a not. Edmnds TMV + freight is $32,532.

All my local dealors want MSRP and have to wait for 2 months. After reading the previous posts about purchasing oos, I decide to buy pilot from ohio too. I sent email to dealers in Akron first, and get very positive response, I chose Mike pruitt. The internet manager is very nice, 29K for 04 EXL, no push or BS, all the fee up front. we arranged the whole thing through couple of email and phone. He pickup me from airport and I drove 450miles back to NJ with the company of hurricane isabel. Pilot is great, very comfortable and fun driving. It was windy and raining heavily alone the rt 80, I can't really feel any of them inside the pilot. Now just wait for my ohio tag to title it to NJ DMV.
Thanks a lot for all the great msgs post in this forum.

I am talking to Mike Pruitt also. They quoted me for 1k over invoice which seems not as good as you got. If you don't mind, would you please drop me an email at mdshopper2000@yahoo.com for a little more information (such as price, case number/your name if you don't mind for me to refer the deal)? I would really appreciate.

My Pruitt purchased silver 2004 Pilot was delivered to me in Kansas on Sun. I got mine for $1000 over invoice, got fog lights and deflector for installed by them for 15% off, they arranged for an auto transporter (I paid a very reasonable amount) to bring it the 800 miles to the KC area and I did it all via email, phone calls and over night mail. They also financed me by beating the my credit union by .5%.

I had my 2004 Silver EX-L Navi delivered to me this Saturday. Waikem did a great job. The total was 33228.85. This includes running board, All wood trims, cross bars for the roof rack and delivery on a flat bed truck. The Vehicle had 4 miles on it and a full tank of gas (Nice touch).

I paid $1300.00 over invoice for this vehicle. Great experience of purchasing from Waikem (No nonsense).

Just got a 2004 EX-L with 7 miles on it with no accessories for $29,800 (which includes mandatory $460 destination) at Honda of Frankfort, Frankfort, KY on Sept 20 2003. There was an additional $239 for title/docs/etc. Some other $150 BS charge was waived. Tax was $1600 or so (KY is about 6%, no cap!). Grand Total was about $31,730. Came with full tank of gas (19 gal.!)
FYI, For EX-L, MSRP (sticker) is $31,330 and Invoice is $28,230 (both include the $460 destination charge).
Started out by searching via Sam's Club site, and after putting in zip codes for all surrounding larger cities I got two hits. One in Parkersburg WV about 6 hours away provided a list that showed 2003s only and the Pilot was $1500 over invoice. I tried to call, but no callback. The other place was Laurenceville? (south of Columbus) OH, about 3 hours away. They didn't have a listing of prices, but over the phone I got 800 under MSRP. I had been working with the local Lexington KY dealer (Don Jacobs), but they wouldn't give me a price and wanted me to start the bidding... There must be about 5 dealers within a 100 mile radius, so I started with Honda of Frankfort since they were only about 20mi away. Earlier in the week they responded with an email that they had no pilots in stock. Anyway, in looking at this forum and some other info I figured for my area that 1500 was a good target price. They actually had 3 on the lot that came in on 19th, and I said I wanted 1500 under MSRP. They came back with 29,800 (1530 under MSRP) when they found I would buy that day. I used the "check with my wife and call you back" ruse to give the local dealer (Don Jacobs in lexington) a call, but the best they would do was 700 under MSRP. So after clarifying with Honda of Frankfort that I could choose between the Sandstone and the Silver (the other one was a Sage with DVD), I took the Silver and they had the paperwork ready when I got there at closing time 30 min. later. We paid cash so the process was extremely quick. I couldn't tell if I was getting a psych job or not, but the desk manager who gave me the price was smiling kind of funny and said that HIS boss said "you did WHAT?!" when told what I was offered. Probably to make me feel good.
I probably could have called around more to get a better price, etc. but with the way these things move off the lot there is not a lot of opportunity for haggling, and I didn't want to take the chance of it taking another month to get a basic EX-L in a color I liked. Plus I can imagine having to drive some distance and chew up a whole day, etc. vs. the couple hours on Sat. that I spend (plus of course the hours over picking between Highlander, Passat wagon, Subaru stuff, and Pilot, and then the discussing whether the DVD was a good idea, etc.) Maybe it's just rationalization, but it feels good to have it over with and feel I got a decent if not great price. (we have a wedding in the family coming up soon and wanted to get this out of the way before then - plus we can haul more people around now too)
    Additional info:
We considered the Sandstone (in fact we initially thought that was the one that we were being offered and were going to take it), but the Silver has the darker interior, which we wanted to camo kid dirt.
Also, regarding roominess - I have two carseats in the 2nd row and I can comfortably fit between them in the middle seat, but I'm 5'11" and 160lbs - still, Pilots are wide!
I know this is a long post, but more info is better!

A friend is having buyer's remorse about leasing a 2004 Pilot. Since I don't know a lot about costs for leasing...here's what she got.
2004 Honda Pilot, AWD 4dr SUV w/Leather and Navigation System
She is paying $550/month for four years. She had another lease car she was turning in early and owed $1700. They "said" they would take care of it but I think they rolled that amount into her new lease.
    Did she pay too much?
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,754
I'll leave the math up to someone a bit more competent with lease numbers, but it sounds a bit stiff to me. I assume she put nothing down, right?

I would bet that, yes, the $1700 is rolled in. Happens all the time. Its pretty much standard procedure. She should have checked the numbers on the paperwork closer. But nothing that can be done now. Tell her to just drive and and enjoy it and suffer with the payments because there is not a damned thing that can be done about it now.

Its tough for anyone to tell you precisely without knowing all the numbers on the contract. Need to know purchase price, any and all fees, buyout price at the end of the lease, miles allowed per year, etc.

$550 is high. I ordered a 2004 EXL RES through a Costco dealership the price is $434.01 without accessories.

Notes: (i) I am purchasing $740.00 in accessories (Fog Lights Cross Bar & Cargo Cover) so my monthly payment is $452.51; (ii) the Costco discount I received is $1,000 under MSRP; and (iii) Each of the following leases below assume:

    Res % 56%
    Months 48
    Money Factor 0.00210000
    Sales Tax Rate 9%

The details of my lease (without $740 in accessories) are as follows:

    MSRP $32,830.00
    Lease Bank Fee $550.00
    Discount $(1,000.00)
    Effective Cost $32,380.00
    Payment $434.01

The EXL-Navi at MSRP would be:

    MSRP $33,330.00
    Lease Bank Fees $550.00
    Effective Cost $33,830.00
    Payment $465.79

The EXL-Navi at MSRP (with the $1,700)would be:

    MSRP $33,330.00
    Lease Bank Fees $550.00
    Roll-In $1,700.00
    Effective Cost $35,580.00
    Payment $508.28

In order to get to $550 a month, you would need to include the $1,700 roll-in as well as an additional $1,669 (Accessories?). In that case, the numbers would be:

    MSRP $33,330.00
    Fees $550.00
    Roll-In $1,700.00
    Additional costs $1,669.00
    Effective Cost $37,249.00
    Payment $550.00

I need this for my wife because my subie's lease is expiring. I checked in with Pruitt today. They said 29,700 for an EX/L. Either I go and get it (airfare and drive time) or they ship it for $895. A local dealer in CT offered me the same for 31,130 but extended the warranty to 48 months and lifetime free oil service. So lets give the CT dealer $500 for their warranty and oil (I plan to hold on to this forever). Take 500 from the 31,130 for 30,600. Add 895 to 29700 to get 30,595. Its a wash. Ok there's still that $895 if I fly and get it but the flight out of LGA at about $200 leaves $700. My friend drives me to LGA at 4am (sucks)I drive 8 hours back (sucks more). I still have to go to DMV to do the title stuff (sucks the most). After all that the dealer I bought from is now 8 hours away. Is that worth $700? BTW I had a commitment from another CT dealer who was $1000 under MSRP but they couldn't produce when I went for the deal. I drove this car and quite frankly its not all that hot. It just has the magic combination of 7/8 passenger, AWD and not a minivan. I would look at other US SUVs but I had the unfortunate experience of buying a ford exploder in the mid nineties. I can't afford to do that again. A volvo XC? Read their posts. There has to be a better answer to this.

Read all the great internet deals on this board, but I must have the WORST luck! Chicago buyers beware: ED NAPLETON HONDA of Oak Lawn, Il switched price on deal AFTER I drove 350 miles to pick up Pilot. Their "email word" was of no value once I got there.
Negotiated price & fees via email with internet mgr ($500 over invoice for 03 Pilot EXL). Dealer didn't have any on lot, so had to put $500 down & they would order it. Internet mgr was very pleasant during negotiations, but after he had my down pmt it was different. Internet mgr said would take 7-10 days to get in, was OK w/ this since at time vacation was month away that I needed it for. However, it didn't come in til month later, WHILE was out of state on vac. and AFTER had to spend $400 to rent van for vac. Salesman was indifferent to inconvenience, as if I was expecting too much for it to come in when he said it would.
Called salesman when returned from vac. to tell him would be there Mon to pick up Pilot, said he would have it ready. Chicago is 350 miles from my home, so left Sun p.m. with all copies of emails, rented car, stayed in hotel, went to dealer Mon a.m. Inspected vehicle, looked great! Salesman would not accept my PeopleFirst blank check (said 2 of them "bounced" in past) but said they should be able to get me same rate, so wasn't too upset. Yet.
Now for the big catch: Went to do paperwork, I notice price on Bill of Sale is around $800 higher then agreed on. Note the salesman did not TELL me this, just put paper in front of us to sign. I point it out, salesman didn't appear surprised, said would talk to mgr. Salesman came back to say they could no longer sell at agreed upon price because "the market had changed". I told him this unacceptable, he went to get mgr. Mgr came, said this was only Pilot on his lot right now and he could have sold it 3-5 times. He said it was "supply and demand" and that "market conditions had changed" in the 6 weeks since ordered Pilot. He said he knew "all about the emails", did not dispute them at all, but that the price "no longer reflected current market conditions". Neither salesman nor mgr were apologetic, just very matter of fact.
Though by this point we shouldn't have been surprised, we couldn't believe they could do business this way. Their reasons were bogus, they had no Pilots on lot 6 weeks ago when took down pmt either, and reason it had been so long was that I had been WAITING on THEM to get the Pilot they ordered for ME! Mgr wouldn't budget, I told them to put the down pmt back on credit card and I walked. They agreed to do this right away.
I feel they knew we were coming in from out of town and off the market for 6 weeks, figured either I wouldn't notice price or $800 wasn't enough to break deal, or likely had another buyer that would pay more. Not wanting to reinforce these dishonest sales tactics, I chose to walk. Though this still wasn't a BAD price for a Pilot, I had better offers and anyway, it was the principle. I feel if there had been any honest "change in market conditions", as they said, the dealer would have informed me of the price chg BEFORE I drove over 350 miles and spent over $300 on hotel, car rental, gas, etc. Or they told me about the price change at all, rather than me finding it on my own!
I DO NOT advise purchasing from ED NAPLETON HONDA of OAK LAWN Illinois. Husb & I personally know 4 people who have completed internet deals from other dealerships, so I know it happens: JUST BE CAREFUL. Consider dealer reputation, unfortunately I didn't and learned an expensive and time consuming lesson. Another dealer had diff color on lot and would have met price at time I made down payment, but unfortunately at the time we wanted red. =(
This all happened in July and August, I was too ticked to even discuss it for a while. Still haven't bought a new car at this time, haven't even tried since - just got worn down. This was my first, and likely last, Honda negotiation. I am writing BBB and Honda, and shopping a local Toyota lot. BETTER LUCK TO EVERYON

i would check out waikem honda in ohio.. i would still bet he could ship that same pilot for 500 dollars to CT, and beat the price at pruitt honda. you save there.. as far as that 1 extra year of warranty for $500 that is also high where is the bargain there..your brakes and oil changes will most likley be the only thing you do the first 4 or 5 years... when i purchased my pilot 4 months ago i could of had 3 more years warranty for $695.. i agree with your drive to the airport and all that nonsense.. TIME IS MONEY WHY BOTHER. have your pilot shipped to you.. your dmv paper work will take maybe 1 hour out of your day to register it .. i also did the out of state to new york purchase of a exl,res pilot.. saved 2400 dollars by going this route.I encourage all forum members to buy out of state..lastly i to was not to impressed with the looks of the pilot, but it does grow on you.. in my opinion i feel the honda pilot is the best medium suv in its class for the money.. not to mention it has great resale value and better than average reliability..my one major complaint being 6'1 inch 235 is the driving position stinks. I could never get comfortable up,down, side to side the honda seats need to be 3/4 inches longer.. the motor need to be kicked up to 260 horse like the 04, mdx.. goodluck on your purchase.

It may help to send a little letter to the state AG's office with copies of your emails - most states have consumer protection divisions and maybe you can get the attention of some newbie attorney who's not yet burnt out dealing with car dealers.

Instead of lemon lawyers, we need lawyers who will go to dealership closings with people!

If this is the wrong forum, I apologize, please tell me where it should go instead!

Anyway, I am looking for a reputable shipping company to have our vehicle shipped from CA to OH. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have requested and received quotes from many companies, but really feeling like I am going in blind here. I am not even sure where to begin. Any advice is welcome!

Don't go over to the dark side of Toyota because of a unscrupulous dealer. Actually, Toyota a good company, but I am a Honda bigot. I have always owned at least one Honda for the last 15 yrs with zero issues. I have sworn never to buy another brand after my last two minivans (both Dodges) cost me thousands in repairs. Don't even get me started on why I was stupid and didn't buy an Odessey in 1999. I thought I was smart saving $2000 up front.

Anyhow, I found your email interesting because I almost bought my Pilot at Ed Napleton's last month. I also am from IA and was struggling to get a 2003 Pilot at a decent price. I was able to pull in an offer for a $1000 off MSRP in Omaha for a 2003 and several offered $500-$750 off, but it was my trade of a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan SE that was killing me. No one was willing to give more than $4000-$4500. A flood of them on the market. Anyhow, in my search, I contacted Ed Napleton based on one of your earlier emails. I have a note from the internet mgr on 8/18 offering me their last 2003 Pilot (Red) - Just came available. Sounds like that might have been yours. He had earlier quoted me that he would sell me one for $750 off MSRP in early August, but I had a better deal out of Michigan for $1200 off a 2003. However, I was looking at an 8 hr drive.

I had decided to wait for a 2004 EX-L by that time anyhow. Why take the depreciation on a 2003 two weeks before 2004s came out. The internet manager sent me this note on 8/29 so I am not sure what the changing market conditions were:

"Here is the pricing that I have on the 2004 Pilot. The price of the vehicle is $31,620, which is a savings of $750.00 off of MSRP. There is a miscellaneous Cook County Fee of $10.00, a $50.00 Doc fee, and $460.00 for destination, and a $10.00 drive away fee (Temporary registration). Your sales tax would have to be paid in Iowa. If you would like to order a Pilot, or if you have any questions, please feel free to call me at the dealership, I am here all day. Looking forward to hearing from you!!"

I was able to get this same deal at Chezik-Sayers Honda in Iowa City and they treated me a lot better with my trade ($5500) than anyone else.

Honda of Ames provided me $600 off MSRP and the Superior Honda in Omaha offered $800, but I didn't want to drive 2 hrs to find out if they were going to be less than Chezik on the trade for just a $50 savings. If I remember right, the Cedar Rapids (Randy Kuehl)dealer was willing to go $500 off a 2004, but you had to specifically call the internet sales manager. I bought my 1996 civic from them and they are a great dealership. Fantastic service.

Anyhow, hope you stick with the Pilot. I am now the proud owner of a 2004 Pilot Sagebrush EX-L RES. Order on 9/6 and picked up on 9/20 (one week before they had projected).

I applaud you. walking in that situation is hard to do but I am glad you did it. From what I hear windy city, and jacobs twin honda has honored their out of state prices on oddy's at least and they were going for straight invoice. I lived in Ames for 5 years and know the Iowa market for buying cars is pretty limited. Keep searching I am sure you will find a vehicle and dealer that will meet your needs. We should never give in to these terrible dealers why should they make money off of us. Good Luck.

PS - All Ed napelton dealerships are rip offs. they are some of the sleaziest dealers I have ever met (Chicago Naitive). Avoid them at all cost.

Would like to know the buying experience with Wilde Honda Troutbeer, do you sign any contract with them when you put the order in? I am talking to them now and would want to make sure they are "good" people to deal with
    Thanks

I haven't actualy met with anyone face-face yet. All of my dealing with Wile Honda have been over the phone or via e-mail thus far. I have been dealing with one of their 'Internet Coordinators'. She has been very helpful so far, such as:

    1) Internet quote via e-mail including a breakdown of accessory costs, other fees, etc.

    2) Searching inventories of dealers closer to my home so I could see some of the new colors for the 04 model.

    3) Sent credit application by mail (returned by me via fax) and quoted Honda financing rates once I was approved.

    4) Computed trade-in estimates on my current vehicle.

    5) Arranged to allocate a vehicle to my name by a $500 deposit (credit card).

I've been quite happy thus far, but I realize that I haven't put any pen to paper yet. I know that the internet quote I received and the financing figures are NON-binding at this point in the game. I read some messages on other boards where buyers were lured by attractive quotes and then, after driving several hundred miles to pick up their vehicle, were offered an inflated price due to 'changing demand'. I call that a bait and switch and I don't think that a reputable dealership would risk it. They would get absolutely trashed in forums like this and lose a ton of potential customers. At this point, I have only good things to say about Wilde Honda, but rest assured that I will be reading the fine print when I sign on the dotted line to make sure it is exactly what we have agreed on.

I might be ready to pick it up as soon as this weekend. I'll give you an update next week.

Thanks, it is very helpful. I am also communicating with her(D) through e-mail. Some how that, after the initial contact - price quote for the model and options; she did not answer any other questions that I e-mailed her including the potential trade-in of my current vehicle.

As you mentioned, I am also concerned about the "bait and switch" that some internet dealers are doing. Please let me know your experience after you pick up the Pilot. Good luck for you new Pilot and have a safe trip.

    patticake.

ps. I am also at 78 miles north of milwaukee. Are you in the foxvalley area?

The price I posted included freight, tag.

I have to pay tax in NC which I can do only after I receive the Title to the Vehicle which I am waiting for.

Question for everyone. It is very difficult to get a 2004 EX-L with DVD entertainment system with the color that I like. The dealer has suggested that he install a genuine "Honda" DVD system himself. I recall reading there would be an electrical problem by doing so.

Has anyone done this? Is there any forseeable potential problem? Thanks for your help.

Pruitt seems to have a good community relations reputation from my net searching, but judging by a few of the posts we've had to delete in here... well, you have to be careful with individual salespeople most anywhere I guess.

I wanted the DVD with my '04 Pilot, but could only find EX-L in the color I wanted. Dealer suggested that I have aftermarket DVD/video and LCD screens put into both driver and passenger headrests. The advantage with aftermarket is that you get two LCD screens that can do different things! for example, kid 1 wants to watch DVD movie, kid 2 wants to play video game. They can both get what they want with wireless headphones. Cost is $100 less, installed, than the $1500 Honda wants for their factory RES/DVD. Aftermarket warranty of DVD system is 2 years (not bad). So, I bought the EX-L and plan to put in the aftermarket RES after my 2 young boys get old enough (next summer). My 11yo daughter uses DVD in iBook, so she's happy anyway.

I have a quote from a dealer in the Washington DC metro area of $32,800 for a 2004 Pilot EX-L/RES w/ DVD and leather. The deal comes with running boards, fog lights, back up sensors, cross bars, and cd changer.

Any idea if this is s good deal?

Greg, I too live in the Washington DC Metro area and I believe you got a good deal even freight and processing fees not already included. I paid mine exact Pilot without option for 31,900 plus VA Tax (close to $1000).

I too live in the DC area.
I just put my deposit down on an 04/EX/RES with running boards, rear mud flaps and cross bars
    $32,500 before freight, tax, tags.
It sounds like Skeptic3 got as good a deal or better.

Well, I live in the Metro DC area and just completed my purchase today.
2004 EX-L No NAVI or DVD. I had them include wheel locks, cargo tray, mud-flaps, running boards, cross bars, and all season floor mats. Paid $31,500 plus tax and tags. Freight included. I think this was a relatively good deal. I wanted to save about $300 more, but wanted the vehicle today, and they had the color I wanted. Negotiation was not too bad.
