So this morning, drove to the dealership and pick up my Pilot EX (black/gray). Everything went well, no pressure and the lady that I dealt with was very pleasant.
Couple of things that I notice when I was reviewing the lease agreement at the Finance office were:
1) there was no $ amount next to bank fee/acq. fee. (should be $595, according to other dealerships that I was working with. Also, the Honda website stated that there is an acq. fee)
2) there was no $ amount next to security deposit (should be $249)
3) there was an amount next to capital cost reduction $749
I did not complaint about the bank fee/acq. fee. Either way I have to pay this fee. This dealer decided to put it as a capital cost reduction. The only legit complaint I could've made was the security deposit. But what the hell, I think I got an excellent deal. The lowest quote I received was $309 with $1600 due @ signing for a Pilot EX. And $361 with $1600 due @ signing for a Pilot EX-L.
I just received an e-mail from Planet Honda. This weekend only (to 7/5/05), they will sell you any Honda in stock for invoice less $2,005.00.
If anyone have any questions regarding this $249 lease for a Pilot EX. Please ask away.
Regards
After all that I saw a private party ad for an '05 EX (cloth) w/10,500 miles on it. I bought it for $24,000. I'll owe tax plus $23 transfer fees to the state before I'm done. The car was spotless, inside and out--still had some of the factory plastic on the floors. Accessorized with running boards and mud guards and a dash cover. The owner was moving out of the country and didn't need a car anymore. I figured the 10,000+ miles was worth the $2600 plus license and registration fee difference over a brand new one similarly equipped. I love the car. The drive home was great. Thanks again to everyone for their inputs.
Thanks a lot for the recommendation. After seeing all the possible updates on the new 2006 model we might wait for 2 months.
Thanks!
On top of it all, they did not want to give me diddly on a trade-in. I was HIGHLY disappointed, as I was SO ready to buy a car this weekend. Now I will sell my car on my own (I know, you always get more $$ in the pocket from that) and will send out e-mails to get prices.
And I loved the advice when I was getting ready to walk out the door. "You know, if we don't come chasing after you, this is the lowest price you'll get" and the "Just so you know, on Tuesday, this price goes up $1000 (or was it $1500?) because our incentive ends then." Gee, that would have made me stop, turn around and come right back in to deal with you.
Sigh. I figure it will take me a week to two weeks to sell my car. After that, I'll be mass blitzing the Honda dealers in the Southeast!
The dealer I purchased my pilot from was DCH Academy Honda in Old Bridge NJ.
I had a very good experience and would recommend them to anyone. Unlike their sister store in Paramus, they were extremely professional and efficient. (no games, the price quoted is exactly what I received when I arrived. Everything was agreed via phone/e-mail and I just came in to sign the papers)
Also had a very good experience with Honda of Essex in West Caldwell NJ. The General Sales manager there was a pleasure to deal with. Ultimately he did not have the color I wanted so I went to Old Bridge.
The price was 26,931 without destination, but that clearly included the $1,000 Honda to Dealer incentive that was in effect at the time. Do not know if the incentive is still out there or weather there will be more incentives in July or Aug.
Good Luck
I guess Honda dealer is in driver's seat in our area. I submit an internet quote request from autoweb.com last Friday, after 4 days NO Single quote at all ???
I also noticed the quote will only be sent to 2 off-area dealer, looks like most local Honda dealer didn't participate the internet quoting. I tried 3 or 4 different internet quote websites, some of them even can't send the quote anywhere.
What's happening here, is Honda selling so hot in bayarea? I guess too many rich people here.
:shades:
I didn't use any third party website this time but goto their internet sale directly.
Initially they gave me quote $25788 for EX include destination for a silver one. They also told me the 1.9% finance will over by the end of day so I drove to dealership for a test drive.
It turns out they sold the last silver EX the day before, so they deduct another $100 if I choose other color. So that's $25688 for EX include destination, pretty close to the best deal I read from here.
Wife preferred leather after test drive, so eventauly we bought a EXL for $27700 include destination. That's not a as good deal as EX but I think we lost bargan power when we switch to leather.
Anyway, if you live in SF bayarea try some dealership farther out , I don't mind to drive 30, 40 miles to save $1000 or more.

I got a base price of $25,085 from DCH Academy Honda in Old Bridge, NJ. Their sales manager was really nice and gave us a fantastic deal.
Before i bought it, I contacted Open Road Honda, coz they had claimed that they would beat any offer by $100...but the sales manager was sooo rude. He claimed that the VIN # i had was most probably fake (he never even checked it) and that they offer the best price. They quoted $25,297 (base price).
I will never visit them again, thats for sure.
Thanks. :confuse:
I got a great deal too!!!

Is $28.5k a reasonable deal, including destination?
Pilot EX with Cloth.
Is this including Tax ?
and is this a cash price?
I got a LX just for $24,500 including destination charge but not including tax.
Based upon incentives offered through July 5th (don't know what is offered now) the vehicle cost $27, 870.00. With $515 Dest the price was $28,385.00. OTD price for EX-L with no NAV or RES was $29,680.55. With tow pkg the final OTD was $30,696.10
The way I handled it, based upon the information gathered here was to send out email asking for the best price. I asked for an itemization or breakdown of the cost, (Taxes, title, tag, etc.) Many sent quotes lumping Dest and vehicle together. I intended on taking the top four or five and negotiating further but the closest was the lowest. Based upon other dealer info, I did negotiate the tow pkg a little more. Leith had to bring it in and they asked me how many miles would I accept. I said 150. They brought it in with 42.7 and the plastic still on it. No problems at all on it.
One dealer said they could only do $2000 off MSRP over the phone but might could do more when I came in. They immediately fell off the list.
As far as dealers in North Carolina area, the best was at Leith in Raleigh. Contact the Internet manager. Next was Hendrick in Woodbridge VA; Burlington Honda in Burlington NC, Hendrick Honda in Easley SC and Hendrick honda in Charlotte NC. All were professional and courteous. Can't mention names but email me but GO INTERNET MANAGER. DON'T WALK IN.
I will never walk into another dealer to buy again, only to test drive. Manufacturers are going to have to change the way they do business and reimburse dealers now that the internet has entered the equation. Is it fair to test drive at one dealer and then buy at another? No. Would you give up a couple of thousand or even hundred just because you test drove at a dealer? NO! The business model of car makers has to be changed.
I bought the tow pkg at the dealer and had them install due to the complexity of the coolers.
I bought my extended warranty, crossbars, cargo cover, rear mud guards, and cargo liner all at www.hondacuraworld.com at considerable savings.
BTW I left NC with 300 miles it for our trip to South Georgia. Came back with 1500 miles on it. Averaged 20.8 to 21.9 driving 70 - 75 most of the time. Entire family loves it.
Thanks
Hank
It was a smooth deal with the folks at DCH Academy Honda. I would definitely recommend them to u'all!
Anyway, the dealer that wanted to work up some figures offered me $700 under MSRP and $4100 for my car. Carmax bought it for $5100 and I bought mine considerably less than 700 off MSRP!
Again, NEVER walk into a dealership other than to look (which is all you did). Don't let them talk money. You will never get the best deal talking to a salesperson. Go over the internet and work with the internet sales manager.
I learned all I needed to know here at the Edmunds Honda forum and I saved a bundle.
It is possible (and this is mere speculation on my part) that the '06 Pilot will adopt the Odyssey's nav system.
I found this site very valuable when going to lease so I'd like to supply the lease I obtained. I'm not sure it's the best deal but here it is. BTW I got this in Southeast MI. on July 1, 05.
paid $698 at lease signing which included first month and new plates
319 per month for 36 months.
Good luck
My wife loves this car, Finds the handling very responsive
