Here is my list of dealers so far. Anybody want to recommend anybody else?

Am looking for a Steel Blue EX-L. Options for dealer to install: Extended warranty, Tow package, Crossbars (facing the correct direction). Asking for best price with no dealer add-ons (no paint sealer, scotch guard, etc)

Dick Brooks in Greer South Carolina
    Hendrick Honda in Charlotte NC
    Crown Honda in Greensboro
    Landmark Honda in Alexandria VA
    Sheehy Honda in Alexandria VA
    Bill Page Honda (Location unknown)
    Vester Honda in Wilson
Davenport Honda in Rocky Mount NC
    Sanford Honda in Sanford NC
    Lumberton Honda in Lumberton NC

    Suggestions?

Know how some feel but I want the extended warranty as too many things can cost a fortune down the road, besides, it sure has paid off on my 01 Impala. Just replaced front wheel bearings (~ $900)!

In addition to requesting quotes from dealers above, am asking for warranty prices from the below:

    College Hills Honda,
    Jay Honda,
    Hondaacura.com

Thanks for everything, this board has been a great help.

I have had great dealings with Crown Honda in Charlotte. Also got quick Internet replies from Honda of Concord and Hendrick Honda, but there is a recent news story in Business Journal about lawsuit against Hendrick Automotive Group that has me shying away from them for now.

    Hi all:

I got quoted 31606 for EX-L w/NAV and RES added. Should I buy this now or will the prices get better in August?

    Thanks.

Did anyone on this forum buy an EX-L at any dallas dealer? What was the quote/price you got?

    Thanks
  • sportymonksportymonk Member Posts: 258
The issue is not just will prices drop and how much but also what will availability be. If you don't care about color or have several that are acceptable, you will better off. Also, you may have to take things you don't want (including dealer add-ons) I am about to start the process of emailing and "pull the trigger" as we want the EX-L in Steel Blue. We don't want Nav or Res. (I could live with Nav if I had to).

Then there is the issue of value. Rumor has it (www.hondapreview.com) that there will be a redesign of the front and rear ends and maybe something inside as well. May be 2WD (nahh), side air bag curtains, and VCM. I don't like the VCM on the Ody as it doesn't seem to help mileage much and it always turns off the same three cylinders.

It has been two weeks since i purchased my 2005 pilot ex. I am enjoying the ride, however, I am second guessing myself. I bought it under the Leadership purchase plan. It was $29079.95 plus your other fees. I also traded in my 2003 honda accord lx with 13000 miles. I received $14500, the full payoff for the car. However, on my contract for the mileage they wrote n/a. During negotiations we discussed 15,000 miles per year and we I called they agreed to it over the phone. I am going to the dealership to get that in writing, if they dont agree to that, do I have any other options? Because both parties have to agree in writing and have it signed.

Am asking for bids, here I go!

Don’t want to mention names as everything is still under negotiation but here are the basics. Looking for an EX-L. No NAV or RES.

Sent out 16 emails yesterday and 5 more tonight. Of those 16, I have had responses other than the automated reply from 9 dealers. Stated I had an offer from Carsdirect for $29,188 including delivery.

“A” said all he could on the phone is $200 off MRSP but he probably could better in the office.

“B” sent an email inviting me to come talk and test drive (ignoring my request for price with itemization for destination, doc fees, taxes, etc. I replied asking for a price (again). They responded with they would match Carsdirect $29,188 including delivery but didn’t mention their doc fee. Assuming $399 like other, then OTD is $30,529.61
    Tow Pkg for $1395 + Crossbars for $225. Total = $32,149.61.

    “C” offered $28,460.00 + $515 Del + $359 Doc fee + $869.25 taxes + $57 tag for a total of $30,260.25
Tow Pkg for 868 and Crossbars for 185. Total then is $31,313.25.

    “D” offered $29,074.00 + $515 Del + $289 Doc fee + $896.34 taxes + $50 tag for a total of $30,824.34
Tow Pkg and Crossbars not mentioned.

    “E” offered $29,073.00 + $515 Del + $199 Doc fee + $893.61 taxes + $55 tag for a total of $30,797.08
Tow Pkg for 827 and Crossbars for 157. Total then is $31,781.08.

    “F” offered $28,291.00 + $515 Del + $299 Doc fee + $873.15 taxes + $55 tag plus a local tax of $34.59 for a total of $30,067.74
Tow Pkg for $1,295 and Crossbars for $295. Total then is $31,657.74.

    “G” offered $28,070.00 + $515 Del + $398 Doc fee + $869.49 taxes + $62 tag for a total of $29,914.49
Tow Pkg for $1,170 and Crossbars for $217.5. Total then is $31,313.25.

Others say they are working of bids. Local dealer has not responded.

It appears that if I can do the crossbars myself and the tow pkg myself (I can’t) then G is the best price even though his doc fee is high. He is close by (~50 miles)

OTOH if I let them do the options, then
G is still the best even with his outrageous option prices but C is close. But C is 4.5 hours away. 9 hour round trip plus time at dealer.

Will try to negotiate options with G. Hope local dealer will respond.

Stay tuned for more film at 11. BTW some of the offers have like a 48 to 72 time limit. Others have 7 days or end of the month whichever comes first.

Could you let me know what Houston dealer is offering the 1.9% for 3 years? I don't see this advertised anywhere for the Pilot and have been told that this may not be available in Houston.

Can anyone confirm that this is avaialable in Houston?
  • leejleej Member Posts: 5
I will have detailed information later (in 2-3 days) since I am in the process of closing the deal. Yes, the quote is $25,1xx for a brand new 2005 Pilot EX in NJ. It obviously does not include $515 destination charge. I believe this is a good deal and it is almost $2,000 below invoice ($27,097 from Edmunds.com). I will post detailed information including dealership name, salesperson, brakedown list of fees, and charges for you later in a few days.
  • bayskybaysky Member Posts: 5
Just a note in case someone didn't know.

Honda now giving a $1000 incentive to dealer for selling pilot. That explain why it's so easy to get quote $1000 more below invoice these days. It's set to expire on 7/5/2005.

However, I am not sure, maybe after 7/5/2005 Honda may give better incentive to dealer for selling 2005 mode because 2006 is coming. Anyone has data from previous years? Can't find any on internet.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,680
    Congrats.
But, just as a counterpoint, I absolutely DESPISE Planet Honda. Told them my quote over the phone. They said to come on in and they'd beat it. So I drove the 30 minutes from work, they stalled me for an hour and a half while looking at my trade, etc, then gave me a worse price than my current quote. Unbelievable. (mind you, this was just over 2 years ago)

Here is the detail in case you are in the process of buy a 2005 Pilot
in NJ area. I just signed documentation last night. The final price for
    my 2005 Pilot EX is $25,150, + destination charge is $515 +
    documentation fee is $189, + 6% NJ Tax + DMV fee ($322) + $7.5 NJ tire tax. I
believe this is a good deal. The words from a salesperson in another
dealership is "it is not a good deal, it is a impossible deal". This is from
Planet Honda on Route 22 (www.planethondadirect.com). The salesperson
is very nice and willing to work with any reasonable quotes you have
    from other dealership.

Most other dealerships (Sussex Honda, Mahwah Honda, Paragon Honda - NY,
Essex Honda, VIP Honda on Route 22, Freehold Honda) in NJ+NY area told
me that this is unbelievable price and they can not offer me a price
close to that, not that they don't want to.

Some dealership who can offer a price around $25,200 are Route 22 Honda
    (www.route22honda.com), Open Road Honda (www.openroadhonda.com).
Actually Open Road Honda has an internet InstaQuote which you can get instant
quote from web. The quote that I got from the InstaQuote is $25,447 for
EX. (Reema gave a quote of $27,500 for EX-L) The internet sales person
(Reema) at Open Road Honda is an excellent lady to work with, and her
manager Henry is a very honest person. Henry offered me $25,250 in case
other deals did go through. I really appreciated his offering. Paramus
Honda's offer is around 25,500, although they claim they are the
largest Honda dealer in this area. Remember all the sales price that I
mentioned above does not include $515 destination charge.
Having been dealing with all the dealerships, my top picks are:
    1) Planet Honda
    2) Open Road Honda
    3) Route 22 Honda

what the heck happened? My reply to your post about Planet Honda wound up BEFORE your post about Planet Honda. ?????? Strange.

    Honda Clear Lake; I got that last weekend; will be 2.9% for 5 years;

It surprise me also since I am not aware of that. But if you are firm that you will not buy the car unless you get 1.9 they will give to you.

As I said, I didn't intend to buy but cound't pass this deal (or maybe I can get $800 under invoice?)
  • botitasbotitas Member Posts: 3
Thanks for the info., I'll check with Clear Lake. Goodson West is saying that the 1.9 is not available. I think if you're willing to wait a bit, you should be able to get close to the 1K under invoice everyone's talking about.

I think the ETCH is where they try and get some $ back. Goodson adds $299 for it. I'm looking for an EX and the best price I've got so far is from them: $25950 (Inc. Dest.) + Tax + Texas Fees + $299 (VIN ETCH). Informed Gillman about this deal and got the "we can't do it because we're not going to lose $" line.

Hmm, wonder if we could get together and buy 2 and get even a better deal?

Do we have any good deals on the 2005 Honda Pilot EX in the Balto./Glen Burnie area.

I have just started looking and have received one price quote for 27712.00. $100.00 over invoice. Has any one been able to go lower in the Balto/Glen Burnie area, and if so what dealerships?

My experience buying a Honda Pilot EX-L in KC was a good one. Went to Frank Ancona and test drove the car. Nice sales lady. She was not pushy or in your face. Spent an hour and had to get back to work. She shot me a price that I thought was high and too low on my trade. I went to Jay Wolfe Honda and O'Neil Honda. Both were eager to make a deal but in the end the deal at Ancona was the best and the sales lady made the buying experience a pleasure. No high pressure to buy from them. This board helped me establish the price I wanted to pay. I hit my target on my trade of a Soccer Mom type Dodge Caravan and the price of the Pilot was just right. Thanks Deborah Teague for being a professional salesperson.

This is the first foreign car for us and of course the first Honda. Its a very nice vehicle. :)

Used Edmunds and got emails from 3 local dealerships giving me a price. I was looking for the EX-L with DVD. The first price was $31,100 from the first place, then got the email from the second place which was $30,600, then got an offer from the third place for $29,499. All of these emails arrived within 24 hours of my request. I live near Chicago and all the dealers were about 45 minutes from my home. So I went to the local dealer(10 minutes away) and he matched the low offer. This price included destination. The only extras were tax, title and doc fee.

Did anyone recently buy a pilot EX-L at Dallas Fortworth... what was the price around and from which dealer?

In the process of buying a EX-L. Had researched this site and had dealers names etc. Sent email out to 20 dealers in the NC, SC, VA area. 18 responded. Best deal was at dealer I would not have thought would be the low price. some dealers own a Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Honda, etc. i.e. they own just about everything and therefore wouldn't car if you went to another dealer since they own it too! So I reasoned. Well I was wrong. I guess volume does make a difference.

Best price was at Leith Honda. Contact the Internet Manager there he is professional, not too pushy, very helpful. Great so far. Will buy Wednesday night if things go as planned.

For those interested, second through fifth place ( all reasonably close) were Hendrick Honda In Woodbridge VA, Burlington Honda in Burlington NC, Hendrick Honda in Easley SD, and Hendrick Honda in Charlotte NC.

When you send out emails, ask the dealers to list the name of their dealership, some will respond with their own name and you won't have a clue who the dealer is.

BTW - I went by Carmax to see what they would buy my car for. $1000 over what one dealer offered! Will go to best dealer and if his trade isn't close (will take some difference to avoid going back to Carmax) I will go back to Carmax to sell. Carmax is easy way to sell and appears to be close to KBB and over dealer trade in offers.

Can't wait for Wednesday. Feel like the night before Christmas. :)

    Good day to all...

Can someone please explain to me why so many people insist on posting of prices for vehicles that do not include destination?
The price you should be posting here is for the vehicle itself...do not include TTL since that varies a great deal accross the country...
Your always going to pay destination charges...it is always included on the invoice...so when you post that you got car "A" for so many $$$ below invoice it should be assumed that the desitnation is included...People seem to want to break that price apart for some reason and it makes no sense whatsoever.
Trying to figure out the total OTD cost for any vehicle in your area is not rocket science...all it takes is a little time and some research and you can walk into any dealership and give them a price for what you are willing to pay OTD!!!
Charges like dealer fees, tire fee, battery fee, docs fee, lemon law, are all the same at most dealerships in your area...just ask them what their fees are and you can go from there...But for someone to keep separating the invoice and destination fee just doesn't make sense to me...
    There I am done venting...
    Rock On!

I purchased a CRV back in 1998 from O'Donnell Honda in Ellicott City, Md. I have stayed in contact w/them and will probably purchase my 06 Pilot from them in the Fall. No pressure from them, no dealer add-ons (if you do not want them). They are fair and honest (I know others who have had good experiences w/them). I have sent friends there and they have been happy w/the sales/service. I would be willing to pay more (w/in reason) to do business w/them because they have something that I have found most dealers lacking in: integrity.

The wife and I bought a 2005 EX-L from Crown Honda in Charlotte last week and love it. Went through the Internet sales channel and got it for $28500, plus tax, tag, & doc fee. Came with wheel locks free, no add-ons whatsoever. One thing to consider on the carmax price is that if you use the dealer for trade-in, you cut the price of tax paid on the Pilot. Have to balance out the difference you may get in add'l money from Carmax vs. what you save in taxes. Tell them the trade-in price is the last sticking point for you and they should come up. Good luck!

I am in the market for a Pilot EX in the SF Bay Area. I was just informed by an internet sales manager that commencing Thursday, they are offering special financing of 1.9, 2.9, and 3.9 for 36 to 60 months. I'm not sure if this is a national or regional Honda incentive.

Also, I will like to thank the previous posters regarding the $1,000 factory to dealer incentive.
  • lbj52lbj52 Member Posts: 6
How do you find out when the next 1.9% financing will be available in your area? We went to a local dealer last weekend and they said it only lasts a few days when they offer it on Pilots, and they didn't know when it would next be offered. I live in So. California. Also, when will the 06 Pilots be available?
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,680
you won't know when or where special financing will be available. If that information was public, everyone would wait for the special financing deals. Since Honda nor the dealers want folks to wait, that info is just not accessible.

If they stick to the same schedule as the last couple of years, you can expect the '06s around October.

Just finalized a deal over the phone for a 2005 Pilot LX in NJ. $23,302 plus 6% tax, $342 dmv fee, $97.70 doc fees, $7.50 tire fee.

Going to the dealer tonight to take a final test drive and then sign the papers.

    Thoughts?

just bought an EX-L at Lodi Honda which is south of Sacramento for the 1K under invoice. Did through email and phone and was very easy just ask for Gill. Got the Steel Blue and the wife wanted the cargo cover and tray and paid too much i am sure but $100 for tray and $216 for cover installed. Good experience over all and some big dealers in Sac would not touch the offer.

Just got our 2005 Honda Pilot EX-L tonight from the famous MP Honda in Akron, Ohio........unbelievable service and great price.........$1400 under invoice; no extra for them to find the color we wanted (Black with saddle leater interior), they drove 100 miles to get that color.... and get this............delivered to us free of charge (about an hour from the dealership)! WOW! We never had to leave our home. This was all an internet deal with an incredible, professional, delightful salesperson. They will have all my future business and we are one happy Pilot family!

Tomorrow my wife and I will be purchasing an EX w/ fabric interior before accessories tax and license the price is $25,772. This seems to be the lowest possible price in socal. We faxed our offer to 40 Honda dealers on Tuesday (15 responded). At 5 PM our best offer was $26,100 at 6 PM we received an offer via fax from a dealer who we have not had any contact with prior to the fax - the offer $25,772. I immediately called the four dealers that had been the most aggressive in pursing our business. One declined to match or beat the offer and the other three would only match. $2200 below invoice- I hope they don't try to bamboozle us and add fees when we go in to sign

I just got a quote from Planet Honda in NJ for a $249 lease (36K/ 3 years) with only $1,500 total due @ signing.. Sounds to good to be true...?

Has anyone bought a car @ Planet Honda?
  • leejleej Member Posts: 5
As in my post (#4177) said, I just bought EX at $25,100 + destination from Planet Honda. It was too good to be true to some other dealerships (i.e. Paramus Honda,...) when they were told the price. It was a real. I didn't have any problem in transaction. I can not compare the leasing price since I paid cash. I have been driving the Pilot for a week. I am very happy with Planet Honda.
  • rossignolsrossignols Member Posts: 12
First off, congratulations on your purchase. Looks like you got a very good deal. Just want to make one comment however, that I would not use Paramus Honda as a benchmark. Thier price quote was almost $1,700 above what I paid for mine, and when I told them the price I was planning to pay at another dealer they became downright rude. While the salesperson was nice enough and told my wife she would be right back, the sale manager became irate when he heard the price and told the salesperson not to go back outside and quote "leave her out in the heat". When my wife came back in after 15 minutes to find the salesperson sitting at her desk, the sales manager said I told her not to waist her time. That price is rediculous and nobody will sell it for that. The fact is that not only did I buy it the next day for that price, I has another dealer in the area that was alo pretty close but did not have the color I wanted.

Bottom Line: I will NEVER step foot into Paramus Honda again. And have every intention of making sure that DCH (parent Company) hears about it as well.

I bought my Sage EXL yesterday:

    $26,931 -
    1,516 - Tax
    100 - Doc Fee
    515 - Dest
    322 - NJ DMV
    29,484 - Total OTD
  • lbj52lbj52 Member Posts: 6

I had a wonderful quote from Premier Honda (in New Orleans) for EXL-NAV & RES. It was $31,606+TTL. I would have bought from them, but decided against the Pilot and bought an MDX instead.

Today, we brought home our new Black Pilot EX w/gray fabric from Buena Park Honda.

    $25,257
    + 515 destination
    + tax and license

Rock Honda (Fontana), First Honda (Simi Valley) and Hardin Honda we're willing to match. Also Honda Cars of Corona and DCH Gardena Honda were very close to that price. I think it being the middle of the week, end of the month and end of the quarter helped our cause. I hope anybody who is looking to buy soon is able to get the same deal or better.

well, we picked up our new Sage Pilot LX last night. Bought it from Paul at Academy Honda in Old Bridge, NJ. Got an awesome deal - $23,302 incl destination (about 1800 under invoice), tax, dmv, fees, 5yr/100,000mile Honda care...

Only got to drive it home from the dealer (about 10 miles) as the wife took it to work this morning. I absolutely love it. Now I have to tint those back windows - it looks a little weird with the naked windows.

    All,
Any word if Honda is going to continue their current lease special and $1K back to dealer cash past 5 July? Simply can't pull the trigger right now...I would assume they would, but you never know with Honda. There are certainly a bunch of Pilots, especially EX-L's, on the lots.

    Thanks!

For a '05 Pilot EX-L RES in the Boston area.

$29,100 (including destination) + 5% mass sales tax + Mass title prep
and plate fee ($86 new plates, $65 transfer plates) + $198 dealer doc
and prep fee (this is non-negotiable?). This is good on any in-stock
    Pilot EX-L RES.

$29,495 that was the base price for the EXL-DVD. We got a couple of extras like mud flaps, wheel locks and side steps which they gave us at their cost. Total out the door was $32,200 which included tax, doc fees, everything. Got it at Harbor Honda and dealt with Tony
