It cant get worse than this....
I signed a lease deal from there.as i have posted earlier the deal was supposed to be good since the sales person kept on telling me the selling price is 38000 which is 500$ above the invoice price of 37535...And i went ahead and signed the deal...
the whole process took about 3-4 hours since i had to pay security deposit to get my credit approved for the deal....they took $3500 as refundable secuirty deposit which was fine...they explained everything real fast and i went ahead and signed the lease agreement..that was my bad...cause when i see the lease agreement now the figures are drastically different from what the sales person had told me...
there the value of the car is 38334 and they have added 725 to that as ACQ Fee..so I end up paying 39099 for the car thats some 1500$ over invoice....
I have called up the sales person today..First he said ACQ fee was not included and please re check the agreement..Now when I have quoted him the figures from the agreement ,He hasnt responded yet....
Anyway there isnt much I can do now...I have signed the deal and everythings done... :)

    Yah I know :)
thats the annoying part...cause when I asked for the Ipod adapter it was not available with the car...so have to cope with it....

Despite Wall Street's uptrend, in apparent ignorance of the state of the economy, today's edition has a good article on difficulties encountered in selling premium autos: see Personal Journal, front page D1, right side. BMW is mentioned as are others. You know that their sales are down considerably year-over-year. I think you'll see the 3's all leasing for a Cap Cost = invoice, if not March, then as late-model year approaches. I would bet on dealer cash incentives, but not dramaticallly lower Money Factors, as inflation appears to be a concern, and lease financing is a function of higher rate expectations 2-3-4 years out. I had a 36-month lease expiring, so I had to make a decision, otherwise I would have at least waited for the March rates and programs. I am now driving a 335xi sedan and so far am very pleased, although it's only for commuting at this time, and I am an accountant, so you know how that works this time of the year.

This is my bad....My sincere apologies....
actually ACQ fee was the one we had discussed before and 374 added to 38000 was for the tire protection plan I had opted...
So the deal stand good at 465 over invoice....i got confused with all the figures...
    Sorry again ....

    Thanks a lot.
One of the dealers quoted the same numbers, but didn't tell me they were for 15K. annual.

The dealership has a preprinted [gouging] charge of $469 for "Administrative fees" (pronounced, additional profit) and, despite my protest, has the audacity of charging tax on top of it! My argument is that "administrative fees" is a grouped charge for "services" (yeah, right), and therefore not taxable. Their response, "Yes it is taxable."

Can I get some educated (legal/tax) input here?

    Thanks.
  • drrocketdrrocket Member Posts: 67
The Edmunds.com auto loan calculator adds "Title, Registration & Other Costs," AFTER the cost of the vehicle is taxed. Title, Registration & Other Costs is described on Edmunds.com as "Fees and charges customarily charged, including vehicle title, state registration, dealer documentation, government fees, service contracts and any additional equipment not included in the Vehicle Sales Price." The fact that the dealership includes it in the taxable category would appear to be a tacit admission that "Administrative fees" is nothing more than unadulterated profit!
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,259
You pretty much answered your own question..

If the fee is additional profit, then it is just part of the selling price of the car... ergo, taxable..

Even the government knows that.. ;)

When buying or leasing... any fee that does not go directly to pay a government entity is usually taxable.

I ordered a car for delivery to Miami on February 11. According to BWM's owner's circle my car has been produced but not shipped. Any estimate on how long it will take to receive my car? Thanks and to any other forum members that have ordered a car your input would be appreciated!

I can't vouch for Edmunds loan calculator...

Every state that I know about... administrative, dealer document, conveyance... whatever you want to call the fee.... is taxed..

    Service contracts.. usually taxed

    Lease acquisition fees... usually taxed

Title fees, temporary tag fees, tire tax, registration fees.. assuming those amounts are paid to a government agency... then, not taxed..

    Hi all,

I've accepted the following deal and was just looking for some confirmation before sign & delivery:

    335i Coupe, 08
    MSRP 44850
    SP 42820
MF: .0023, 7 Security Deposits (.00007)= .00181, final money factor.
    Residual: 26,461. 59%, 3 Years, 15k Miles Per Year/ Tristate area.
    Taxes: Out of Pocket
    Fees:
    Acq 625
    197.50 License & Reg
    45 Doc

    Payment: $579

Is it worth it to put any money down? A downpayment of 1k would reduce my monthly to less than 550. Not sure if its worth it.

Let me know what you guys think of the deal/ if I can do better & where.

    Thx

I'm currently looking at a 328i Convertible. Here are the specs....

    Alipine White Convertible
    Cream Beige Dakota Leather
    Premium Package
    Cold Weather Package
    Automatic Transmission
    Comfort Acces

    MSRP - $49,050.00
    Dealer Add-ons (Mats-$199 & Wheel locks-$199)

    Total- $49,448.00

Money Factor Quoted- .003 (Which is high based on what I read here)
Bank Acquistion Fee - $825 (Seems high)

    Upfronts - @ $1,320
    Total Cash - $2,500
    36 Month Lease at 12k miles/year

    Payment- $787

This seems insane to me. First, the price is sticker. Plus the other fees that seem extreme.

Any thoughts on what is fair for this car? I want to pay multiple security deposits as I've seen on this board. Here's what I need...

    1) Fair Negotiated Price
    2) Money Factor
    3) Residual
    4) Payment?

    Thanks in advance!

The extended maintenance program is also available at a cost of
$1,695.00. The program extends the full maintenance program to 72 months or 100,000 miles.

I was quoted $2295 from BMW of San Francisco for the Extended Maintenance Program and the person I talked to said this can be done over the phone.

What dealership is offering the Extended Maintenance Program for $1695. Anyone else also offered around this figure. Please advise on which dealership, if any, in Northern California. :shades:

    Hey everyone.

I've been spending alot of time in the infiniti g37, g35 forums and wanted to see what everyones opinion on the following car is. I recently went to my local BMW dealer to test drive a coupe/4d 3 series. After speaking with the salesman, we were able to find a car that was coming into the dealership from BMW's buyback program. Although the salesman did not specifically "know" why this was a buyback, he did say that it was something with the programming of the car??

Anyways, I put a deposit on the car because I thought it was a good deal. What do you think?? Here is the info

2007 BMW 335i coupe in graphite with the following packages
    15,000 miles

    Cold Weather Package
    Sport
    Automatic Transmission
    Brushed Aluminum
    Ambient Light
    Navigation
    Satellite Radio
    Premium Package
    Comfort Access
    Logic 7 Sound
    Paddle Shifters
    Bluetooth

It seems that this car is fully loaded, and it should come in from port in the next 10 days or so. The dealer said the price would be in the $35,000 region. I priced the car on Edmunds with all these options and it came to about $50,000 depending on regional adjustments.

My question to all of you is this. Would I be better off buying a certified used through BMW, this car, or a brand new G35/G37 for about the same price? I know traditionally that BMW's are the ultimate driving machine, and I love the look and feel of the car when driving. However, does BMW include information about the buyback when checking the cars VIN number? I do not want to have a hard time selling the car when I want to get rid of it, and if it shows something bad on the carfax report then i'd be screwed!

This deal seams almost too good to be true. What are everyones experiences with these types of deals?

    Thanks,
    Randy

Walk (no run) away from this car.

Basically BMW has an irate customer with a car that has a problem that can not be remedied (at least to the customer's satisfaction).

    Why buy trouble?
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,754
well, I don't know if I would run just yet. But there is no way I would buy it without knowing all the details of the buyback. Also, I would want to make sure the warranty will be honored. I believe sometimes with other manufacturers, a car will not be warrantied if it is bought back.

I'd want a FULL history of the car and why it was bought back. It could have been a very loyal customer who complained to no end about the ride quality of the run-flat tires or it could have been some major malfunction.

I'd personally stay away from this car because it is an automatic :P

I'm interested in purchasing a bmw 328i with pretty much the bare minimums -- no extra packages or options although most dealerships have thrown in ipod USB adapter or something along those lines.

What would be a fair price without TTL? Can someone help? Thanks.
  • andynn002andynn002 Member Posts: 17
Its hard to find the one with minimum packages as you said.
My friend is also looking for one and the selling price he is looking at is $33600
for 328i jetblack exterior/leatherette interior with heated+power+memory front seats
and automatic transmission..dont know if its a good deal...
  • blueguydotcomblueguydotcom Member Posts: 6,249
$500 over invoice is a decent price on a 328i - assuming there isn't dealer cash. There is no dealer cash as of Mar 5 there isn't but this could change given BMW's horrible Feb sales.

Work out the pricing of the car, with features, email around to various BMW dealers telling them the price you want to pay. And order your car. It'll be tough to find one without a bunch of doodads on a lot.

Don't believe a dealer that says orders are extra or that they can only offer deals on in-stock. If they want to sell you in-stock then tell them you won't pay for any feature you're not seeking right now. So sure if they want to throw in the premium package for free - you'll take it. But don't buy into this game that you must buy a car with 3-4k worth of options you didn't request.

I just bought this, after getting several quotes from different dealers. Let me know what you think...

    Transmission: Automatic
    Body Style: 4 Door Sedan
    Exterior: Alpine White
    Interior: Black
    Mileage: 10,932
    Xeon lights
    Heated Seats
    power Seats

    Dealer is asking 29,900
    We are currently at 28,500

    The Carfax is clean.

    Two questions:
    Is this a good Buy?
Should I be concerned about the low mileage?

how would you ever know, or ever believe what they tell you why the previous owner got rid of the car. ....and we've all heard this a million times (but somehow never seem to listen to it).... IF IT SOUNDS ALMOST TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE (quoting you), then you can be sure it is. be very careful. people get very emotionally invested in these deals and become very blind to the obvious.

    good luck,

    phil

Quoting a dealer here in the DFW area:
I can see why you'd want to do that price. That is the invoice posted on the internet, but look below in small print where it denotes that "actual dealer costs may vary", which means it isn't the actual dealer invoice. My actual cost as is the same for all dealers in the southern region is 31,719. I need to be over cost on the car.

Edmunds has Invoice+Destination at $30,585 - a good $1100 below what this guy says it is.

Any truth to this, or is he blowing smoke up my tailpipe?
  • circlewcirclew Member Posts: 8,666
I can feel the wind from here! Test it out and send an -email to other dealers with the price you want. Ask for your price over the invoice and list both. See what you get.

    OW

I am currently in the hunt for a 328xi coupe. I am thinking about ordering the car and wonder what the mark up should be in New York area on this car. I would like a car that is loaded with all the options and that is why I am ordering it vs buying off the lot. What colors look good with the saddle brown interior?

I was given a 2 quotes of 1800 and 2100 off MSRP by 2 different dealers.
  • blueguydotcomblueguydotcom Member Posts: 6,249
The best price = what you want to pay. IE, if you feel it's worth the money, then take it. Personally, 300-500 over invoice seems decent to me. Others are willing to pay more. In the end, figure out your personal valuation.
  • irisheyes44irisheyes44 Member Posts: 15
Can you really expect that kind of deal (300-500 over invoice) for this type of car. If you can, where?
  • blueguydotcomblueguydotcom Member Posts: 6,249
All over socal it's the norm.

"this type of car"? It's just a mass produced - and very common - car in a VERY competitive segment (TL, IS, C, A4, G). Not to mention BMW had lousy sales in February.
  • lovebmw330ilovebmw330i Member Posts: 28
Try to shoot for $2,500 off MSRP for the coupe. As far as what colors go well with saddle brown/black leather interior-I ordered mine with Platinum Bronze metallic and it looks awesome! Its a real lady killer since the exterior looks classy and elegant, while the interior is very flashy! Great combo! Everyone who has seen it loves it(young and old)!

About to lease my first BMW and appreciate all the advice here. My question boils down to this - I have priced out a 328xi 2-door coupe w metallic paint, Steptronic, Premium, Sport, Leather Wheel/Paddles and Satellite Radio. Comes to $43,970.00 MSRP. Invoice comes to $40,500.00 (both numbers include $775.00 Destination Charge). I want to offer $1000 over invoice. Do I first have to add the MACO, Training and other fees into the invoice price or should my offer be over the $40,500.00? I went to one dealer and we had all the numbers worked out. However, he then had $41,330.00 invoice instead of $40,500 invoice (he had $300 for MACO, $180 for training and $350 for some other charge (Disposition?)) and wanted me to go $1000 over that number. I refused and he said we have nothing else to talk about.
  • ilovedogsilovedogs Member Posts: 11
"I refused and he said we have nothing else to talk about."

You owe an apology - you only confirmed your ignorance to the dealer and any others present. Gosh, I feel sorry for sales people that have to deal with jerks like you.

MACO and Training fee are legit costs

What dealership in DC offered you the quote? I have no problem driving up there to get the car if I can get a similar deal.

I'm working with a dealership in Charlotte and they won't negotiate at all. I think that's a really good quote, considering that's just a smidge over $1000 above invoice. How many miles are on the car?
  • stevedc34stevedc34 Member Posts: 25

BMW of Sterling made me the offer. The car would have to be built for me because there aren't many manuals in this area. So mileage shouldn't be an issue.

With the bad month BMW had in Feb and the of course the socalled downturn of the economy, any one get a car recently? I"m in the Orange County area looking for a deal in LA/OC for a place that will give me a good deal on a 335i coupe.

I saw the financing deal on the bmw site that looked great! 3.9%!

Just started looking to buy my first BMW and not sure what to expect from the dealer. Any insight into how much BMW typically comes off MSRP? Will be looking around NC, Charlotte and the Triad.
  • skepmodskepmod Member Posts: 6
I was looking for a Manual 328i, no additional options, in the Dallas area. I also wanted White, which is hard to find. So, it would have to be an order. I started with a bunch of research here and on bimmerfest. The most confusing part was whether or not MACO and Training fees are included in what people report. Nevertheless, I saw a range between $500 and $1200 over invoice (incl. MACO+Trng). I decided my number was $800 over invoice or $31,400+TTL.

I test drove at BMW of Dallas. The dealer offered $1000 discount, then took it down to $750 when we didn't find a car off the lot. Whatever. Price: $32,425+TTL.

Next, I emailed two other dealerships in the DFW area, offering $800 over invoice. Both BMW Dallas and Classic accept the offer, but tell me I have the invoice price wrong. This seems to be the new tactic - accept the deal, but reset the invoice price, citing "regional differences".

The guy from Classic offered $31,900 and gave me this long song and dance about the dealership charging him (the dealer) $500 for the following charges:

    $260 for Valet Service
    $40 for Gas
$100 for some Old Age Unit Charge
    $100 Christmas fund.

I almost gag on the BS. I tell him I want $31,400 including his Christmas fund. His manager calls back. A lot less BS, I must say. He says $31,900 is his final offer; can't to business below that. I thank him and hang up.

Autobahn calls back and said he could do $1500 off - which is $31,675. Getting close.

Went back to BMW of Dallas. I tell the dealer $31,400 and also that if they cannot do it, they should tell me so, I don't want to haggle forever. Comes back with $31,800. I say I have another offer of $31,650, but want to give them the business. Next offer is $31,500 + TTL. I take the offer.

It's not the lowest offer I have read here, but I got what I thought was reasonable. I also get the 3.9%. How did I do?
  • dannyfreeddannyfreed Member Posts: 14
So you're saying that your final deal was $900 over invoice, whereby you had already added (MACO + Training) to the price? Just checking since that was the point of my post above (I wanted $1K over invoice, incl. MACO + training, and the dealer offered $1K over invoice PLUS another $480 for MACO + training).
  • salute07salute07 Member Posts: 4
Thanks for the info! Sorry if this is basic info I should know but what is MACO?
  • dannyfreeddannyfreed Member Posts: 14
MACO is a 'marketing area co-op' fee - it is sort of an advertising fee charged and is usually $200-400.
  • skepmodskepmod Member Posts: 6
Yes Dannyfreed. My deal was $900 over invoice including MACO $350+ Training $180. In all $31,500 + TTL (about $2300).
  • dannyfreeddannyfreed Member Posts: 14
    Skepmod -

Just to be absolutely certain, are you saying your dealer made $470 profit on your deal ($900 over invoice, less $530 for MACO and Training) or that he made $900 profit once you already added the $530 for MACO and Training to your invoice? Again, just trying to compare apples to apples with my dealings. Thanks and sorry for the confusion.
