I am in the market for a new 3 series in the next month or two. I am wondering if there is anyone from the Chicago area on here who can give me positive or negative experiences with dealerships in the Chicago Area.
  • dsasidsasi Member Posts: 11
I live in Indy and has been talking to elmhurstautogroup.com, they seems to be offering the best deals around town. I am also in the market for a 3 series, please let me know if you find any other better dealers.

Email me and I can get you the contact info at the dealer.

    Thanks.

Did you get answers or quotes from dealers on this?

Hi - can someone give me an idea of a good monthly payment for a 328xi fully loaded coupe with no money down (taxes , fee, etc. paid) in NYC? With rates going down etc..should i take that into consideration?

    Thanks !

I got a quote from a local dealer. There are alot of intelligent people in here and know what's going on please give me feedback. Thanks a million!!

    2008 BMW 335i coupe
    Invoice
    Base price: $37,715
    Premium Pkg $2320
    Sports Pkg $1000
    Paddle shifters $90
    Comfort access$455
    Navi Sys $1910
    ipod/usb adp. $365
    Met. Paint $430

    Dest. Fee $775
    MACO FEE $380
    Selling price is $47,650

They are selling it $1000 over invoice but i think he is screwing me on the financing. The fees they are charging are below

    $825 Acquisition fee
MONEY FACTOR IS .00255 AND I AM CURRENTLY WITH BMW FINANCIAL!!!
  • jmzootjmzoot Member Posts: 7
It really depends on the dealer.... on European Delivery I have been given price swings of $3k... so do your homework to save your money.... I think you can also get a better discount on an ED vehicle off the MSRP as compared to a US delivery.. if you need more info please feel free to email me
  • boomer23boomer23 Member Posts: 125
Yes, he's making some money on the acquisition fee and the money factor, but not a huge amount. If you check the invoice amounts and he's charging you invoice on the car plus $1000, that's not too bad on a 335i coupe. See if you can work him down on the MF (base MF this month is .00245), and on the acqui fee. Otherwise, a pretty good deal.
  • dawgfan1dawgfan1 Member Posts: 6
I am in the process of negotiating a lease on the above 335xi. MSRP on the loaded model I am looking at is 52,130; They are basing the lease on a discounted price of 50,610. With 2500 down, sales tax at 4426, 210 estimated tax, plus 50 documentation, estimated balance due is 52,796.

Lease quotes are $879 (24 mo.) and $806 (36 mo.). I have never done a lease, and do not know whether I am being taken or not. They call the discount a preferred customer (am trading in previous purchased 2002 325), and it is supposedly a "Costco Customer price too...", but it still seems like the same 3% discount I was quoted online at other dealers...so am wondering if there is any room on this.

BTW, the car I am looking at is now at Oxnard shipping destination, awaiting transit to Washington State...so it is not "on the lot".

Would appreciate any advice or input. At this point, I have a $1000 refundable deposit in wiht them to get the car shipped up.

    Thanks

See my deal at #8410, 8414, with comment from a host at 8416. The $ 597/mo. includes sales tax at 8.25%. You can do a lot better, but you don't state the MF or residual. The MF could well be lower on Friday, 1st day of a new month. The Fed has lowered Fed Funds by 1.25% during the last week. Your discount is too low and the MF too high. Use Internet sales departments for better results. I ordered from Pacific BMW, Glendale, CA.

Thanks...I will look into. I am just learning about leases...have always purchased before. seems another world where the sales manager knows more than me...
  • dsasidsasi Member Posts: 11
    335 XI Sedan
    Premium Pkg
    Auto Trans
    Heated Seats

    MSRP $45900
    Invoice $42295 (includes destination charges)
    Selling Price $43725

    MF .0021
    Residual 64%
    Tax 6%

    10 K miles/ yr $2500 down + $500 Dep + Plates

    Monthly payment $526

My question is the destination charges and acquisition different things?
Is this a good deal for Chicago area?

    Thanks.

I want to buy a 2008 335i coupe with european delivery. i'm thinking about 800~1,000USD over ED invoice. is it a good deal? or is it possible? does anyone have a good dealer you can refer me to?
  • micahsmicahs Member Posts: 3
OK, I bought a fairly basic car today --- no leather, no butt warmer, no packages. Not even metallic paint! None of this was really by design; I wanted a BMW and I prefered black and this was just what they had....

Anyway, I paid $120 over invoice PLUS $380 advertising fee PLUS $100 processing fee (so really I should say I paid $600 over strict invoice if I'm being honest!).

I haven't had second thoughts about passing over those bells & whistles. I wouldn't mind iPod connectivity, but I can get that PLUS bluetooth by buying a replacement stereo from Crutchfield for $300+/-, saving a lot (and anyway they didn't have it to give me!).

My first post here and sorry if this is a redundant question :

    1. What is the BMW Financial Services' February money factor rate for a fully loaded 2008 335i Coupe? (I live in LA if that has anything to do with it)

    2. Do they really offer the best lease terms on this car?

Thanks in advance for any input.
  • ksu19ksu19 Member Posts: 9
base money factor is determined by BMW depending on the particular model and lease term.

My dealer informs me that February money factor and residuals are the same as January.

    Best lease terms through BMWFS.
  • newbiemer335inewbiemer335i Member Posts: 6
Thank you for the information ksu19.
This is for a 36 month - 10K lease on a fully loaded 355i Coupe (MSRP $49,450). I am quoted a 0.0026 money factor with no security deposit and .00245 with a security deposit. I was hoping with the latest cuts in Prime rate, they would offer a better money factor for the month of February. Does it not make sense or is it too early for the recent cuts to show any effects on the consumer lending side?

I guess I should kick myself for not buying this back in the summer of last year

However, financing rates are lower. Just got e-mail from Pacific BMW in Glendale, CA. Have not found lower prices anywhere, and have insisted on Conti Contact SSR RFTs, or I won't take delivery. Car is in transit to Oxnard, about two weeks away.

I got four quotes from a local dealers in LA area. I appreciate if the experts here can give me feedback.

    2008 BMW 335i coupe - Fully Loaded (Auto + Premium + Sports + Nav + iPod/ USB + Park Distance + Paddle Shifter) - White paint w/ Saddle Brown/ Black interior
    Invoice
    Base price: $40,800
    Pkgs./ Options : $8,650
    MSRP : $49,450
Selling Price : $47,085 ($560 more than dealer cost for training, MACO fees. Dealer claims only $1,000 over his cost of $46,085)

Drive off Cost : $1,855.23 (see breakdown detail below)
    DMV Fee : $45
    Bank/ Acquisition Fee : $625
Tax on Bank fee : $55.27
    1st Payment : $726.21
    Deposit : None

    36 mo. 10K lease at : $726.21/ month
Money Factor : 0.0026 (w/o security deposit - 0.00245 w/ security deposit) through BMW FS

I have done the math and lease numbers above do work out. However, I want to lower my monthly payment closer to $650 range. The questions I have :

    1. Is this a fair deal given the car being so hot in LA area now that no dealer has a good inventory? (I have to order mine and wait). Has anyone found a better deal with similar car recently around here?

    2. What other options I have to lower the money factor rather than paying multiple security deposits (which I can if I need to)?

    3. How many multiple security deposits are needed to bring it closer to $650/ mo. range? Is all of this money refundable at the end of the lease? Is there a risk involved with putting that much money in the hand of the lessor who may start acting up at the end of the lease?

Thanks a million for any feedback/ advice in advance.

Update: Just a follow up in case somebody searches on this topic. From the BMWFS site:

"If you decide on Route 2 - Keeping your current BMW

Make arrangements to keep driving your current BMW.
    Re-lease through BMW Financial Services
Purchase your vehicle outright with financing options though BMW Financial Services

Should you wish to purchase the vehicle that you are currently driving, you may do so by paying the residual value* shown on your original lease agreement. You can choose to either finance the total amount due with BMW Financial Services, or simply send us a cashier's check or certified funds to pay it off.

For assistance, please call a Lease-End Relationship Consultant at 1-800-959-4BMW (4269).

    *Other fees may apply

    Re-lease your current BMW

If you want to keep your BMW a while longer, BMW Financial Services can arrange a short-term re-lease (12 to 24 months). Please call your BMW center or your Lease-End Relationship Consultant to discuss the length of your new lease and the re-lease payment amount. (Not available for OwnersChoice customers.)"

I just don't know how the re-lease works yet.

I am looking for 08 328i coupe mf and residual values for February. I plan on doing the european delivery. I searched the forums and it seems like $1200 over european invoice is a practical figure, is this correct?

    Thanks guys!

Should be doable with an ED dealing dealer. Where are you?
  • eights38eights38 Member Posts: 145
joeko23 - Please see the lease rates for the 2008 BMW 328i Coupe below (same rates for 2008 BMW 328xi Coupe). Note that the residuals are based on 15k miles per year, add 2% for 12k miles per year and add 3% for 10k miles per year. Be careful when selecting a dealer to coordinate your European Delivery as a tremendous amount of paperwork and scheduling is required. If you need more help, please feel free to email me.

    24 Month – Residual 68% of MSRP – .00200 Base Rate
    36 Month – Residual 58% of MSRP – .00200 Base Rate

    Hello All.

I am interested in leasing a 328i coupe. Has anyone had luck in getting the BMWUSA advertised Lease Offers? I was thinking of asking the local dealer to work with:
    • $449 First months payment
    • $2,500 Down payment
    • $450 Security Deposit
    • $3,399 Cash due at signing
    http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Content/FinancialServices/LeaseOffers/LeaseOfferD- etail.aspx?enc=cG+Z/DDSlbze0Zb2MVU75w==

The dealer would have to increase the payments, since the car i am specifically considering has an MSRP of 39075 (includes Nav, Ipod, Comfort Access). I was thinking I could get them to agree to 479 a month, similar to the Lease offer for a 328xi with approximately the same MSRP on the BMWUSA site.

Does this make sense? Should I be trying for a better lease? Or, is the lease offered on their website too good to be true?
  • ursamajorursamajor Member Posts: 127
I am thinking of springing for this non-factory option, which cannot be residualized. I've been told it's installed in the center console, or in the glove box, or in the trunk, but I just don't know. I would only have it in the trunk, as the other areas are functional and I'm not willing to eliminate their availability. Has anyone had this item installed, what did it cost, what brand was used, and are you satisfied with the result? I know--kyfdyx suggested passing on this non-recoverable extravagance, but I would really like to have it if it doesn't set me back a grand. If I keep the car more than the three year lease, the cost will be worth it. What kind of warranty comes with the unit? Thanks

I am looking to lease the following: 335 sedan or coupe, loaded incl sport, premium, navigation, XM, parking, etc. MSRP's in range of $48-50K. What should i shoot for in terms of discount off MSRP/markup from invoice, Money Factor, i would prefer zero down towards capcost, so MSD is of interest as well. I am in Dallas tx

I met with two dealers and their first qoutes (no haggling or hard negotiating) were the following

    1)MSRP 47900, $1200 off msrp - 0dn = $767 / month
    2)MSRP 48500, 1500 off msrp - zero down = $765 / month

*from what i am reading, i should be able to do much better than $1200 discount, i am seeing in the range of 2000-off MSRP in other posts? however the dealer pulled the "EDMUNDS what people are really paying" screen showing people are paying $300 less than MSRP, and telling me how great the $1500 off was.
*when i ask for a breakdown of fees, MF, etc., what ranges should i be looking for? The dealer was "surprised because noone has ever asked for that before" and didnt share the details as i requested.
*should it make a difference if it is a "on-the-lot" car vs. ordering?

*ANY RECOMMENDATIONS ON A DEALER IN DALLAS OR TEXAS?

My friend just bought his 05 X5 lease return back from the dealer. The sold it back to him for residual value plus $1500 as a BMW CPO. They also gave him 3.9% financing for 60 months. Unbelievable!

I just moved to Chicagoland and my 2006 BMW 330i, sports package, run flat tires is not going to cut it in this weather. I am thinking of a BMW 328xi sedan or wagon. Currently my 3 year lease with 3K down from a trade in, 10K/year, is $493. Ideally do not want to put anything down and stay ~$500 per month. Any advice would be appreciated.

Buy a set of winter tires/wheels.. When your lease is up, sell them... You don't need AWD for Chicago... it's flat as a pancake..

Might not be perceived by you as needed but seems like preference is growing...

Woodcliff Lake, NJ, February 4, 2008 -- The BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI combined) today reported January vehicle sales of 16,935, down 22.4 percent as expected from the 21,811 vehicles sold in the same month of 2007. Sales were impacted by lower than normal inventory levels due to a very strong retail performance in December and high demand for all-wheel drive models.

Every car on the BMW dealers lots near me are AWD except the Z and M cars. Maybe that's why.

When I trade my '05 in and get a new one this summer or fall they will have to do a dealer trade.

I can't argue that the preferences are skewed towards AWD (insert your own joke about lemmings or sheep here). But, I'm not sure how interstate driving in Chicago would increase the need for it..

Unless you are taking the interstate somewhere far away with lots of hills.. ;)

My main point is/was.. This person already owns a RWD BMW.. Wheels/tires would be a much simpler/cheaper solution than trading your car..

Agreed to use snows until he needs to change out cars...but in the Chicago area AWD would be useful as opposed to Los Angeles and south.

It will be *much* cheaper and better to just stick a set of snow tires on the car. Or just drive a little slower on those runflats. :)

Thank you for contacting BMW of North America, LLC regarding your 2008 BMW 335xi. We appreciate your inquiry.

The trunk of the 3 Series models includes an open storage bin on the left side with ribs to accommodate CDs; the BMW center-installed CD changer goes under this bin. The Parts Department is informed of the correct model to install. Please contact your client advisor for information on including this accessory in your lease. The warranty on this accessory is two years for parts and labor.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any further comments or questions, please respond to this e-mail or contact the Customer Relations and Services Department at 1-800-831-1117, Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M., Eastern Standard Time. Again, thank you for contacting BMW.

Upon checking with two local dealers, the MSRP is increased by $ 300 for this option, so that it is residualized; you negotiate the price, which at one dealer is $ 800. So you're basically adding $ 500 to the depreciation and financing it, which increases the monthly payment by about $ 20 for 36 months.

After driving in snow storms for 30 years in New England I find that a snow covered Interstate can be pretty challenging especially when trying to change lanes across ruts of snow created by the trucks. You need as much traction as you can get.

Also, for any any conditions it does provide better grip for performance. The 335xi Coupe for example is faster 0 - 60 than a non-x Coupe.
  • circlewcirclew Member Posts: 8,666
It's nice to have the additional traction when the going gets slippery. I find the difference in dry performance from a pure steering aspect noticeable but very acceptable.

I would probably take delivery this weekend. So far, no problems whatsoever. Order was placed 12/28/07.

I came into a dealership (not expecting to walk away with a new car but I got a really good deal)

I got a 2008 BMW 335i convertible Titanium Metallic Silver, Prem package, Sports Package, Cold Weather Package, iPod/USB adapter, Satellite Radio, Paddle shifters, Automatic Transmission for less than $800 over invoice. It looks like Edmuns TMV pricing is close to 56K, MSRP for 57K for the package I got but let's say I got my car for way less. It was brand new, not a demo car. 30 miles on it. I did not have a trade in.

After the deal was completed, the finance guy gave me 4.8% financing; I probably could have haggled it down to 4.5% but I'm going to pay it off in 2 years anyways so it was no big deal to me.

So I feel like I got an incredible price. I live on the East Coast so it's cold so that may have factored into my deal. Plus, the manager said business had been slow for the past 6 week (since Christmas) because the economy had been down and not many people were purchasing the convertible because of the price. The 328 4 door sedans were still selling well.
