What color combination? Sweet car with the sport pkg. Automatic though?

The $33K is out the door including taxes? How much were they asking for the car?

    Black w/ Saddle Brown.
    It's loaded sans Nav.
Asking $36,900 but my friend works there got me the $33 flat.

20carguy, your post is confusing. do you mean invoice minus $2k trunk money? and what is this trunk money... i thought there was only a $1305 auto option credit for 2011... and the 2010s were the ones with $2k build-out cash.... ?
  • nyccarguynyccarguy Member Posts: 17,547
Almost $4K off asking price is pretty good. It is hard to judge. I still think there might be another $1000 - $1500 to go. If the guy who works there is really your friend, maybe he could find out how much they "own" the car for - what they paid for it on trade in (or from BMWFS if it was a lease turn in) + CPO warranty + reconditioning.

Did you get a service history for the car? These N54 powered 335i BMWs have a known problem with the HPFP (High Pressure Fuel Pump) that has caused many cars to go into "limp mode" while people are cruising at 80 mph. The pumps get replaced and often have to get replaced a second time. If the car has a fuel pump that's been replaced, I'd steer clear of this car.

That's a really pretty car. I think the SP equipped 335i is the prettiest BMW in the lineup. Good luck with it!

Any N54 motor can fall prey to the HPFP malady; I wouldn't let an HPFP replacement put me off an otherwise good car. That said, I'm not 100% sure that BMW has completely resolved the issue- although some of my friends close to the situation believe that BMW's latest iteration of the HPFP(the 993 pump) and an accompanying software upgrade appear to have solved the problem.

Congratulation! 2008 328i Coupe, prem, sport, nav and heated seat 25k miles. Asking 32900 I told them 31 flat. Never get a phone call from them. I'm still in the market for CPO.

For a 2010, should I be paying over invoice as it is now an old model?
  • ckrelingckreling Member Posts: 23
Around August last year I purchased a 2009 328i Coupe at 2400 below invoice. Concord BMW, CA.

Would you say you got a really good deal or should this be expected?

    Folks,

I am getting a 2009 335i Convertible with following options for 44,900, without negotiations, I am guessing there is wiggle room for 2-3K. The biggest reason for "low price"? is that the car was in an accident. Hit from rear, rear trunk lid and body panel were replaced, convertible roof panel was repaired and left quarter panel was repaired. Total repair bill for about 4.4K. Because it is a 2009 and no CPO there are no incentive rates.

    Options:
    Premium, Sports, Upgraded Sound,

Appreciate suggestions, if it is a good deal, what to look for etc. My biggest concern is that the roof has been repaired and may leak.
  • ckrelingckreling Member Posts: 23
In this economy you should be able to get a well priced/used version. I would run from the repaired one. How do you know it had no frame damage. Repairs you describe sound more expensive than disclosed.

It will ruin your resale value. I would consider not doing it - just my 2 cents.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,528
The sad truth is that accident/paint work on late model BMWs really hurts the resale value.. I'd also be worried about possible future structural issues with the folding hardtop (which already looks complicated, enough).

If the lower price resulted in a great lease deal, I'd go ahead with no qualms... but, if you think you might sell that car in the next four years, then the paint work will hurt your resale value (significantly, if it shows up on CarFax).

There have to be a lot of options when it comes to late model BMW convertibles, as well as pretty good lease programs on new ones. Is this one that great of a deal, to take a chance?

    regards,

Thanks for the reply, it was a demo which the dealer is selling. I know it is asking too much but if I buy it, it will be based on trusting the dealer.
  • bond007jbbond007jb Member Posts: 38
Thanks for the reply. I have the exact same concerns and I think I am leaning towards leasing a new one, unless the dealer really drops the price.
  • anowlananowlan Member Posts: 48
Agreed. You're more likely to experience a failure in a car that HASN'T had its HPFP replaced with a more recent HPFP, because the original ones were more failure prone. Also, a special 10year, 120K warranty applies to the HPFP on affected models, so I wouldn't let this one issue hold you back. The engine is incredible, as is the car. My HPFP was replaced twice over 36K miles that I owned the car. I still loved the car dearly. The problem never stranded me or caused a dangerous situation.

    Hi Car Man,
My current BMW lease will be ending so in early July I placed an order for a 2011 328 Coupe (leasing again). I was wondering if BMWFS is currently running any BMW owner loyalty programs for which I would qualify for?? I've searched everywhere on the internet but I could not find anything and the dealer did not mention anything either. The residual is 60% and the MF offered to me is .00185 (15k mile lease). Is this the best they're currently doing for returning customers? Are they offering any owner loyalty lease cash? Or a maybe a MF rate lower than .00185? Also, I'll be ending my lease early and was wondering if they're offering their 'pull ahead" program. I just feel like the dealer did not disclose everything so I was hoping that maybe you can shed some light into this.

    Thank you for your help!

I was looking for CPO 2007 for past 3 months and the best quote that I had got from dealer was 25,500$ + tax for a car with 26k miles on it.

Important point to note here is, dealer will never mention about the extended warranty for 5th and 6th year. If you are getting extended warranty in 25K, its a good deal. But if dealer is not giving you the extended warranty in CPO, then its of no use to buy the CPO vechicle. Extended warranty usually costs around 1500$ for 2 years.

    Hello All!
First of all, I would like to thank all of you here on this forum. This forum has helped me a lot in researching the vechicle I wanted to buy.

I just got the 2010 328 xi from NJ Dealer. I got a deal of 37,600$ out of the door (34,500 + 2500 tax + doc fee + registration)

    The car has
    1. Premium Package
    2. Heated Steering Wheel
    3. Logic 7 Sound System
    4. Black Sapphire.
    5. 1 year Sat Radio

I am getting a 2011 328xi with Automatic and Premium package MSRP of $40,050 for $36,150 + $250 doc charges + taxes (7%) + registration (after the $1,000 Ultimate driving discount). Is that a good price?

Also, what are the money factors & residuals for 36 month, 10K lease on this car? Because they ran some numbers for me, and I can not quiet reconcile the numbers.
Actually, they gave a quote of $37,400 with $1730.17 total cash due at signing (including all fees and 1st months payment) and monthly payment of $446.17 (including tax). They had a coupon for $250 off the best negotiated price and I also had the $1000 ultimate drive discount. So they took $1,250 off the cash due, leaving $480 cash due at signing and $446.17 monthly payment.

Do these numbers sound right or are they going to tag on about $31 tax (7%) on $446?

Can anyone provide me with the current money factor and residual(%) for a 2011 M3 Sedan assuming 3 year/10K mile, loyalty discount if any, and excellent credit?

The offer I received from the Dealership is a money factor of 0.00195 and a residual of 55% for 3 years/10kmi.

    Thanks for answering my post.

Most dealers are more than happy to do service on cars bought elsewhere. However, they will sometimes curtail the extra services they provide for their own customers (e.g. loaner cars). Smaller, busier dealers will sometimes refuse to work on cars they didn't sell, but that's pretty rare. Your best bet is to ask the service manager of the dealership you plan to use. I switched from BMW to Mercedes partly because the nearest BMW dealer who had time to service my car was 30 miles away (and only did it grudgingly). It seems foolish to me because BMW pays the same no matter where you bought your car.
  • jjj111jjj111 Member Posts: 3
Thanks for the info. So BMW will pay the dealer for the service any, but the dealer has the right to turn me down. I better call around and see if I can locate a dealer to do the service for me.

Current Aug 2010 MF and Residual for 36 months with 10k miles an M3 are as follows:

Money Factor is .0018 for all models

    Residual:
    Sedan 55%
    Coupe 60%
    Convertbile 67%

As you can see, if youre leasing for that term its best to go coupe or even convertible to get the best $:Car value

We bought a 2007 328i CPO w/ auto & cold weather, 186xx miles back to Jan.2010 in OH. $23,900 and we pay for IL sales tax & title. From what I experienced and heard, usually Dec/Jan is the best time to squeeze car dealers. Good luck!

Where do you get that figure of $17k? First, you don't even know the options and are therefore, pricing it out of the blue. Second, I just looked it up on KBB/Edmunds TMV - trade in is $21,000/$22,000 and CPO value is $28,000/29,000.

If your attempt was simply to make me feel bad because I got a lousy deal, just say so - but it appears you made up numbers to look like you are trying to be objective.

Just in case you want to do your own checking:

    CPO
    Wagon
    AT
    Cold
    Logic 7
    Premium
    Dual power lumbar seats
    BMW Assist
    Xenon headlights
    Keyless ignition
    Bluetooth

No offense intended, but you were responding to my response to ANOTHER poster with ANOTHER car. And your response was that dealers can knock a straight $4k-$5k off an asking price, which is not always (and very rarely) the case. I didn't want to make you feel bad, and you should never feel bad when you are happy with a car and happy with a deal. I just intended to do away with any misinformation.

Since my post was over a month ago, the numbers have changed since, but the CURRENT trade-in value is ~$16k-$16500.

My number comes from Galves, which is the book used here in NJ by dealers when evaluating a trade-in, which is where the original poster is from, which is why I replied to him/her. These numbers are only good for the northeast. But those free online services are free for a reason. They are very often wrong.

By the way, if YOURS is AWD like the original poster's, that adds about $2k to the value. But you never mentioned that, so I assumed it was just RWD.

No problem. $24k is actually not bad at all for CPO. That's about $3500-$4k over trade-in value. Does this have the performance pack or sport pack? The 18" wheels are throwin me off a bit. In any case, like I said, even without those, its fair for CPO. If it has either of those, its an even better deal.

$24K is way too much money to pay for that car. An '06 is most probably 5 years old (The E90 330i/xi Sedans came out in May of '05 IIRC). You are talking about a nicely loaded car which probably had a sticker around what, $46K? You should pay maybe $18-$19K for that car. Keep looking. 330Xi BMWs are a dime a dozen here in the northeast.

Trying to make up my mind between an Audi A4 or a BMW 328xi (both phenomenal cars!). Was offered $38180 ($750 above invoice) for a 2011 328xi with Premium, value, metallic color, automatic. 0.9% for 60 mo. Sticker price for the car is $40,600. Here's what I was negotiating:

    MSRP Invoice
    Base $35,150 $32,340
    Prem $2,650 $2,410
    Color $550 $500
    Delivery $875 $875
    auto $1,375 $1,305
    Total $40,600 $37,430

    What do you guys think?

When I bought my car, I always bargained on the OTD price. I got 2010 328xi for 37,600 otd with premium, logic7 sounds system with black metallic...

    Your otd price will come out to (37430 + 2620 (7% tax) + 350$ (registration) ) = 40,400$.

This seems to be a reasonable price to me (2010 had 2000$ rebate on the price. So if you add 37,600 + 2000 + 800 for upgraded sound system which comes to 40,400)..Others can comment about their 2011 buying experience.

These were my 2 cents..Hope it helped.
  • audiorbmwaudiorbmw Member Posts: 10
Thanks! That helps a lot. Only diff is that they are selling it to me about $750 above the invoice price you used in your calculations, so my total should be north of $41k.

Can anyone who purchased a 2011 328xi comment on what my negotiating room might be? Thank you.

If it helps you decide, I just exited a lease on an Audi A4 after just 13 months and bought a BMW 335d.
The audi was, simply put, the least reliable car I've ever had and with only 6500 miles on the clock, had already been taken in for 5 different issues. Do some research around Audi reliability and you'll see my experience wasn't unique. Also, if you really want to have some fun, google the phrase "audi a4 burning oil." like many others, my car was chewing up a quart every 2k miles, something Audi service considers "normal."
For what it's worth, the BMW has been flawless so far, though I'm just a couple of months in. Love the car.

In my opinion, you can't go wrong with the 328xi. I've got 4.5 months left on my 36 month lease of a 2008 328xi. This has been my favorite car I've ever owned (and I've had several other BMW 3 & 5's, Mercedes, Acura, Lexus, etc). I never had a problem with this car other than adding a quart of oil once and adding some air in the tires. My only complaints about the car are: 1) I wish the low tire warning system told you which tire was low; 2) the radio buttons are unreadable if you have polarized sunglasses; and 3) the cupholders can be a pain (figuratively and literally) if you leave them extended and get in/out of the passenger seat.

I noticed BMW's current lease offer of 459/month for 36 months with 0 down on a 328xi and hope that offer is still around Xmas time when my current lease is up. If it is, I will almost definitely just pick a different color and lease a new one. Curious, does anybody have any insight if this lease deal will last that long? Anybody get a better deal that what BMW is advertising?

    i built a 2011 328i manual for 40675 msrp - dealers first offer selling price was 39088 - so a saving of $1600

lease money was 0.0013 and residual was 64%

looking at the discussion seems i should shoot for more like 2500 off - problem is most manuals are custom orders

lease was 514 per month including 9.5% sales tax here and 933 down upfront.

    Hi all,

I am looking to lease a 2011 335d in the metro Detroit area, and was wondering if anyone has any recent information to share. The diesel seems to be in fairly short supply here and the dealers that have them (Erhard, Grand Blanc) are not willing to offer much in terms of discounts. The starting offers seem to be at MSRP and for a car that sells at $49,525 (MSRP), the monthly payment (36mo, 12K/yr, $0 down) is around $630 + tax, which seems to me to be on the high side - basically, they want to sell it at MSRP-$4500 ecorebate with no further discounts. I know I can probably negotiate and also use the MSD option but I dont see the price decreasing significantly..so I was wondering if anyone else had any recent experience. My own calculations based on invoice + $1.5k, and base MF yield numbers in the low to mid 500s.

We may be relocating to CA next year so maybe it just makes sense to wait until we get there? (assuming prices are lower there)

    Thanks a lot!

Your Galves is much more reliable than my #. My source is a number I picked out of the air. Is that $24K a negotiated price or asking price? I figure the BMW dealer has about $5K in the car.

I know BMWs hold their value well, but a little less than 50% after 5 years seems excessive. But you've got Galves which is THE GUIDE. I feel like he could get a newer 328xi for the same price as the '06.
