Good Luck, I sure love mine.
All kidding aside, I own a G35 sedan and my Dad owns an M45 Sedan, so we are an Infiniti Family, so to speak. But the G35 was not very comfortable for me, as I am 6'3", and couldn't wait for the new "M" sedan to show up at the dealership, so I got the BMW. The new "M", coming out in a few weeks, is supposed to be a direct competitor to the BMW 525 (M35) and BMW 530/545 (M45). Should be interesting to see what happens.

Has anybody heard when the 2006 545i's will be available?
Or even get the big dawg E39 540i, especially if your going to spend the big money .. I would think you would have been able to buy a 05 525 from another dealer for around $500ish over, being in the business and all ..
Terry.
I prefer the classic look of the BMW. THe M's will look like a hybrid between the Q45 and the G35, not my cup of tea, if you know what I mean.
As for price paid, 2500 off MSRP is about 1900 over invoice, and I did not have to pay any dealer fees, which is common here in FL. There is also an availability issue with the 530's and 525's down here in Southeast Florida. I've checked around, and found I got a very good deal considering timing of the purchase, availability, etc.
I find it interesting that you weren't given a demo .. I buy and sell vehicles all over the SE and especially in Florida, they're were plenty of dealers during the tumbleweed time that would have sold a Bimmer to one of their brethren for $500ish over ..... $1,900 over.? not counting today, how long have you been in the business.?
Terry.
Do you have any complains about the accelration of the 525? 186 horses doesn't seem to be much but i suppose it's pretty light for it's class..
thanks

Dealership: BMW of Mountain View
Car: 530i premium, automatic, nav, xenon
MSRP: 51,770
Invoice: 47,804
Final price: 48,770
Actually I had buyer's remorse right away as they took my first offer without haggling, but decided to stick with it as the salesperson was fairly nice and this car had exactly the options my wife wanted and nothing extra.
-Coast BMW in San Louis Obispo
-Weatherford BMW in Berkeley
Hope this helps...
You probably did as good as a BMW corporate employee give or take a few bucks! LOL
thanks for the info. am looking at pretty much the same car, but need to postpone due to new arrivals from lexus and infiniti.
did you also check out peter pan in san mateo and the dealership in fremont?
I did test drive the current model of GS300 and felt it was pretty decent.
To over-generalize, the German cars drive better; the Japanese cars are more reliable and cheaper. I'm hoping for the Japanese companies to produce more sporty cars (the IS300 & G35 are good starts.)
Last month I purchased a 530i with pp/sp/xenon. When pricing, BMW of Fremont had e-mailed back $750 over invoice. I leased the car through Mountain View as I was getting the car through the trade assist program and they were the dealership I purchased the 325i that was bought back. I paid invoice.
Good luck.
Sound like you got a good deal and it could be even lower based on no haggling.
Did you shop at other dealers? I'm in Sacramento and the two dealers, Neillo and Roseville are pretty difficult to get a good deal like yours. Based on the dealers listed on this thread, I will try Fremont and Mountain View. I am looking for:
05 530 with: SportP, PremP, SteptronicAuto, Xenon, PowerShade, Front Comfort Seats, Nav.
BTW, What color did you get?
1) I am concerned that one month after the new '06 is coming out with more hp - anyone validate this?
2) Dealer swears that demand is strong and they won't give more than $1500 off MSRP - however many postings talk about low demand, $1000 over invoice etc. Anyone have a similar experience?
3) Are dealers still receiving subsidies from BMW for leases? How can one find this information out?
By the way, compared fully loaded, lower cost A6 and barebones LS430 - when leasing, neither can come close to the BMW (presumably because of rate manipulation).
2) Anecdotal evidence points to deals being made for $1000-$1500 over invoice... It is inevitable that the closer to the '06 introduction, the less demand for the '05.
3) Lease numbers are great right now for the 530i.. 3yr/45K leases have 60% residual and a money factor of .00125... There are no guarantees, but I can't imagine the numbers will be worse, next month.
What are the details on your lease payment, or haven't you worked that out yet?

MSRP $53,965
Selling price $52,465
Cap cost $53,090 (selling price + acq.fee)
MF .00125
Residual 63%
Payment $657/mo. + tax
Upfront: 1st pymt, security deposit, license/title fees.
You'll save $3/mo. for every extra $100 you negotiate off the purchase price... $15/mo. more for 3yr/36K..Be sure and do this upfront, if you think you'll need the miles... way cheaper this way, than paying for them later.

I'm not knocking anyones vehicle, but the new "5" series isn't setting off any rockets red glare right now .. so unless your living in some fancy smancy neighborhood, you should be looking at in and around the $1,200/$1,500ish over invoice zipcode ...
Terry.
I didn't shop at other dealers because I didn't have much time to search around. You should have no trouble getting an equally good if not better deal at Mountain View especially with the more powerful engines coming out later this year. If you'd like to talk to the salesman I worked with, just let me know.
Good luck!
btw, what interior color did you get with the silver gray?
i don't expect much of a deal on the new 06's... if i can wait that long. and, the feedback on the new lexus and infiniti is starting to roll in. a fun time to be car shoppping!
I was interested in a BMW 530, but am a complete newbie when it comes to BMW's. Are there any suggestions on when would be a good time to buy and get a good deal (i.e. spring when new models are out?). In addition, any ideas on how I should negotiate? Start at below invoice price? What's realistic and what concessions are possible? I'm from San Diego, so a dealer here would be nice, any suggestions? I could also drive to LA if nec...
Thanks for your help!

It will depend on if your dealer had one ready to be built that they could change to your specifications.
I ordered mine on December 11th and it was at the dealer for delivery (in NJ) on February 3rd. Just shy of 8 weeks. Once it went into build status it was about 6-7 weeks from that point. So figure 6-7 weeks from the build date.
Hope that helps.

i have no clue how to go about finding out what a dealer paid for a trade-in of a 2001 530i, and what i should offer. the car has low miles, has premium/sport, and the dealer is doing the certified pre-owned.
would appreciate anyone's input!!!
thanks,
escofi
Most dealers give wholesale Blue Book on trade-ins. In a lot of cases, they even subtract for the cost of new tires, brakes, et cetera.
Go to www.edmunds.com and www.kbb.com and they will have the info that you want. They indicate prices for Trade-in, Private Party Sale and Dealer Sale.

If the dealer has an on-line ad for the car, put a link to it..
Let Terry know that you are thinking of purchasing the car.. but, remember.. it really doesn't matter what the dealer paid for it.. just what it is worth as a retail unit.
