2015.5 Volvo S60 Lease question

edited January 2015 in Volvo
Hi everyone,

We recently requested lease quotes from one of the local Volvo dealerships in southern California, and received the following:

2015.5 Volvo S60 T5
Ice White
Soft Beige Leather
Platinum Package
Climate Package
BLIS (Blind Spot Information System)
Eye Glass Holder (really..)

Money Factor - 0.00001
Residual - 57%
MSRP - $43,440.00
Invoice - $41,498.00
Selling Price - $38,680.00
Rebate - $750
Cash cap reduction - $588.57
Adjusted cap cost - 38,416.43

Drive-off - $1495

36 Month Lease
12,000 miles per year

36 mos @ $379.95 + tax (on approved credit) ($410.35 w/ CA tax)
(deal# 14104 & includes Conquest Bonus)

First, the breakdown I have for drive-off is $588.57 down payment, $389 license + reg fees and $410.35 first month's payment. However, this only brings me to $1.387.92, so not sure what else they are calculating there.

Secondly, I am guessing the rebate is already figured into the selling price. Would the conquest cash be as well? It isn't clear how they are getting from the selling price to the adjusted cap cost either.

And generally, any thoughts on the quality of this deal?

Thanks for your help!

I can't get from the selling price to the CAP cost exactly, either.... but, there is an acquisition fee that makes up most of the difference. You'd have to ask..

The $112 difference on money upfront is probably tax on the rebate and the Cap reduction.

Looks like a great deal for a $43K MSRP vehicle.

Thanks, that was very helpful! I will get the dealer to break down the selling price to CAP cost.

Hello, could you please provide the MF and Residual for 2015.5 S60 T5 Premium (5Cyl.) and E-Drive (4cyl).

    36month/12K
    36month/10K
    39month/12k
    39month/10k.

    Much Thanks in advance!

Also, to verify, there is $1,250 lease cash to dealer, and is that in addition to $250 lease cash and $500 loyalty?

    There is a T5 Drive-E FWD 4 cylinder
    and a T5 AWD 5 cylinder..

They both come in Base, Premier and Platinum (don't see a Premium).

    T5 Drive-E Base: .00001 MF and 57% residual for 36mo, 12K/yr.

    T5 AWD Base: .00001 MF and 56% residual for 36mo, 12K/yr.

Add 1% for 10K/yr. Subtract 2% for 39 months.. $1250 lease cash on all models. Premier trim residuals are slightly higher in all cases.

Thank you very much for the valuable information! These forums have been very helpful for me over the years. Here's the deal I am getting, if anyone has any thoughts, I would appreciate it!

    2015.5 S60 T5 (5 cyl.) AWD Premier with NAV
    MSRP: $39,870
    Net Cap: $32,300
Discount of ~$7,570 (Includes $2500 rebates)

    Documentation Fee: $215.00
    Title/Lic. Fee: $150.00
    Acq. Fee: $995.00

    MF: 0.00001
    RV: 59%

    36months/10K

Out of pocket: ~$1,600 (Includes doc fee, lic. fee, acq fee and 1st pmt.)
    Monthly Payment: $270.00

Have a volvo with 2 pmts left, but the dealer wouldn't budge on buying the lease out.
Offered to roll pmts into my new lease, or I could keep it until lease end and turn it in through them. I may just have a family member use the old one for two months and drive the new one. If two payments rolled in, its going to be about $20 more per month. Either way seems like a decent deal on the new car, unless I am missing something.

It looks like a great deal. The acquisition fee is marked up by $300, but that's a minor quibble given the overall numbers.

Thank for the feedback, here's the final deal I got, after some back and forth in getting them to commit to the actual numbers we agreed to initially.

Same car, 2015.5 S60 AWD (5cyl.) Premier with NAV and Sensus.

    MSRP: $39,870
    Net Cap: $33,970.48
Discount of ~$7,570 (Includes $2500 rebates)

    Documentation Fee: $215.00
    Title/Lic. Fee: $150.00
    Acq. Fee: $995.00

    MF: 0.00001
    RV: 59%

    36months/10K

Out of pocket: $0 (rolled doc fee, lic. fee, acq fee and 1st pmt.)

In the contract stated the dealership pays the 1st payment of $310.00. Have 35 payments left. (not entirely sure what this meant).

    Monthly Payment: $310.00

Decided to just keep my 2012 S60 for two months since I am still 10K under the allotted miles and make two payments.

After finishing paperwork, dealer claimed it was their error and they used the dealer famous "we are losing money on this deal!"

    How did I do?

$310/mo for a car that stickers at $40K is a pretty good deal.

And, don't buy for a moment that the dealer is losing money ... if they were, they wouldn't agree to the terms.

    Enjoy!

Yes, thank you for the feedback. I am pretty happy with the deal but can't say enjoyed the drama. They tried several times to renew on the deal and until I started raising my voice and preparing to leave, they did not "figure out how to make the proper calculations". Overall though, I think it was worth it to get this great of a deal and its a fantastic vehicle. This forum has been immensely helpful and always appreciate the knowledge that is provided here!

    Hi Psten37,

I haven't yet agreed to the deal I was offered above, but curious - what did the discount of $7570 consist of? I ask b/c I want to be sure my dealer is applying all possible incentives to my deal to get the selling price down.

    Thanks!

    Hey mjburdei,

In all honesty, I was just focused on the overall Net. Cap Cost and wasn't as concerned in how they arrived at the final price that I was shooting for. I felt the Invoice or Truecar prices were floating around 35,XXX range which I think was around the invoice range of the car too.

My goal was to get the lowest price possible since that compresses the amount financed for the lease. As far as I know, they were giving me $2500 in rebates and a loyalty discount (have 2012 s60). How they arrived at the total discount though beyond the $2500 I didn't really care. My worry was that if I started to have them break down each discount component I would get lost in the details, and they were trying to confuse the details as it was.

I have seen people getting the cars under invoice, but I feel like a lot of times they pad the rebates to get to that price and won't go below. Hence, when I got them to offer the overall discount with rebates included, I figured it was enough to get over 7K off a brand new car.

Sorry if I can't offer any more details, but after leasing and helping friends lease well over 10 cars, I still had trouble keeping numbers straight with them (tough to beat them at their own game); however, I found that the less I got lost in details for each number and held them to the final discounted price keeping the MF and RV constant, I could arrive at the monthly payment I wanted. This forum, especially the moderator was immensely helpful with the feedback to help me make the last push to get the deal!

Good Luck with your deal! Would love to hear how you make out.

    Thank you KYFDX,
If dealer asks me where did i get this rwference for MF and RV for WA state, where d i point them. I had one dealer tell me to show a proof that someone got a much lower price. I read about that good deal here, and did not have a proof.

Tell them you got the numbers from Edmunds; we get them from Volvo. Be polite but firm and tell them you won't sign a deal that includes an inflated MF.

    Hi,

Can I get MF and RV for a 2015.5 FWD S60 Premier with BLIS, Convenience, and heated seats in MN (Full MSRP $40175)? 42/15k and 36/15k would be great. So far can only get them down to $37k, but just starting.

Any known applicable lease specials for Feb or March would also be appreciated. I don't qualify for Conquest or Loyalty.

Thanks for all you do here.

I am interested in March, 2015 MF and residual for 2015.5 S60 T5 AWD Premier and Platinum, 12k mi/yr, 36 months. In Buffalo, NY area. Thanks so much!

Current Volvo numbers expire today ... new numbers will be available later this week.

.00001 and 58% for 36/12 on Premier; subtract 1% for Platinum. $1250 lease cash.
I'm a bit confused. Are these numbers you posted here for March leases or are they the numbers from February that expired March 2nd? Please advise. Thanks!!
The numbers from this post were those from February that expired on 3/2.

The March numbers for the 2015.5 S60 T5 AWD Premier and Platinum for 36/12 are:

    Premier - 58% and .00001. Subtract 2% for Platinum.
Is the MF the same for for 15K/yr? What is the residual 57%? Any lease cash?

MF stays the same regardless of how many miles per year the lease is for.

    $750 lease cash.

Can you provide MF and residual on T5 AWD Premier for 39/10k in PA?
  • jpp75jpp75 Member Posts: 1,535
Michaell/kydfx I looked at a T5 FWD S60 Platinum yesterday, they quoted me a 52% residual which seemed a bit low for 39 months and 15,000 miles. This is in NC, can you let me know if that's in line? They had the .00001 money factor but I was expecting a higher residual.

    Thanks!

That's correct for Base or Platinum. The Premier model is 2% higher.

    Also, $1250 lease cash.

Great, thanks for confirming. Here's their deal:

    MSRP 43,295
Cap Cost $41,109 (They sold at invoice, gave me a $2,500 rebate which include conquest cash for being an Infiniti owner), added in the $399 doc fee, $999 Acquisition fee, and about $100 of taxes and govt fees. They've come up with a payment of $484, nothing due at signing. I can't quite get to their Net Cap Cost number though, so need to talk to them about that.

    Thanks!

Volvo acquisition fee is $695 - not sure if the dealer is allowed to mark that up or not.

Ask them to break down the math involved in getting to their net cap cost, including the lease cash and rebates.

Thanks Michaell. The sales guy I'm working with couldn't explain it, so he had the finance guy call me. I asked questions but the more I asked the more he was confused so waiting to hear back.

Basically he couldn't break down the math getting to their Net Cap Cost number.

Two dealers I’ve been to have both cited an acquisition fee of $995 and both claimed that Volvo Financial sets this fee (or at least they implied it -- one said “this fee is up to Volvo Financial").

    Hi All:

I’m looking at a few different S60’s -- I’m not really wedded to either. One dealership seemed to be on it a lot more than another, so I think I’m going with them.

2015.5 S60 T5 Fwd Premier, blis, keyless drive
    silver/black leather
    36 months 15k/yr
    $2875.99 Drive Off
    $325 + tax=$354
    Res:$22,229.20
    Money Factor: .00001

(I’m awaiting clarification on the sales price).

    and:

2015.5 S60 T5 Fwd, premier, blis, keyless drive
    grey/black leather
and in addition: climate, 19” sport wheels, sports seats.

    36 months 15k/yr
    $2875.99 Total Drive Off
    $336 + tax=$366
    Res:$23,674.00
    Money Factor:.00001
Offer includes Conquest and Wheels pkg Rebates.
    Msrp:$42275
Sales Price:$38000 plus conquest and wheel rebates.

Note: in one instance they told me “offer includes rebates” and in the other “plus...rebates” so I’m going to get some clarification there.

    What do you all think?

Also some places like Consumer Reports suggests no money down on a least (I wasn’t sure if that meant drive off), but shouldn’t the drive off sum be factored over the 36 month period? And isn’t it just a way to make the monthly rate go up or down?

If you are getting a healthy discount from sticker, then the $300 markup on the acquisition fee can be forgiven ... if you're comfortable with it.
