toytruck1, where did you get your 4runner? I was in today, and the deal breaker was trade-in value on MY 2010 F150 SuperCrew. Could not even get KBB "good" value.

Looking back in the thread I dont see much recent info but what should I expect to see off MSRP on these? Should I be able to get one at Invoice or even below Invoice? Any feedback is much appreciated.

This late in the selling year and for a Limited model, I would expect $5,000 off MSRP - with NO dealer add ons.

Toyota of Manhattan contacted me with the following lease quote:

2012 4Runner SR5 Premium Package (navigation, heated seats, cross bars)
    Term: 36 months
    Annual Mileage: 12K
    MF: .00132
    Residual: 52.68%
Monthly Payment: $595 (8.75% sales tax included)

    Thoughts? Thanks!

I just purchased a 2012 SR5 with convenience package, toyoguard, and tint. I also got them to throw in all weather mats. The MSRP on the vehicle with all of the options was $34,998. I paid $27,900 for it plus another $1200 for dealer fee, tax, and tag xfer, so really it was $29,100. I got about $1,500 less on my trade than I thought I deserved. I was okay with this bc I thought the price of the car was good. What are your thoughts on this deal? TIA...

That's great price. Would you mind sharing the name of the dealer?

I been following this thread somewhat, not a lot of activity here, however for a 2012 SR5 with convience pkg, and a few little extras I been finding MSRP's around $36,000. It possible for 5K off or more this time a year on left over in stock, and if not how much will this model increase for 2013. The one other vehicle that is sparking my interest in the 2014 diesel Jeep Grand Cherooke, any thoughts would be appreciated. By the way I am in North East PA I know discounts are relative to regions and dealer stock, and manufacture incentives.

As of this time - November 12th, 2012 - I am looking at a 2011 new Rav4 from a local dealer. I cannot find any information on Edmunds on how much I should pay. The MSRP is @ $37,000 and the offer was @ $29.900. Is there somewhere else I can look? The 2013 Rav4 is not out yet, but should be available soon. I was thinking I should be able to get a fully loaded (as this Rav4 is) 2 years old vehicle for around the same price as a current model year version of the same vehicle. Am I way off base? What can I point the salesman to that would confirm my conclusion if it's a reasonable one? I can only get Edmunds info on 2012 or 2013 vehicles.

The closest thing I can think of is how we price "new" used cars.

    Value of Used 2012 Vehicles

The deduction for miles driven won't help you but taking off for deprecation should. You can get depreciation numbers from the True Cost to Own tool.

Thanks for the reply. I wonder why my question about Rav4 got moved here? Also, the Rav4 at the dealership is a 2011, not 2012. I can get new vehicle prices for 2012 models here on Edmunds easily, but not 2011.

I tried but even 6K off MSRP could not be found in Houston. Most of deals provided 4K off MSRP. Did anybody get a good quote in Houston?
I just perfer a running board and a third row.
    Thanks.

I'm not sure who watches these forums but thought I'd post my own warning. I just had to sell my Toyota 4Runner at basically a total loss. Frame rotted and was very dangerous by the the I discovered it. Had it inspected about one year ago and they didn't spot it. Thankfully I had not let my teenage daughter start driving it.

Toyota has left me high and dry on this one. Soooo ... I've chronicled the experience on a website called www.deadrunner.org as a way to warn others. What a horrible waste. Rest of the car was in great shape --- transmission, engine, body. If I had more time I would have tried for more money than the 1,200 I got but the Toyota dealer was starting to threaten to charge me rental for having it sit on their lot.

This isn't any kind of ad, I'm not selling anything, just a warning ... Be careful of 4Runners. I think it's got a similar issue as the Tacoma's and Toyota appears to be avoiding the issue.

Right now they've lost a customer forever in my book. We'll see if they ever man-up.

    Thanks,
    Ron

I feel your pain, although I have not had the problem, but am aware of the frame rot problems with Tacomas and Tundas. We at toyota-4runner.org were hoping we would not have these problems with the 4Runner because they were built in Japan. While Edmunds is a good site, I think this needs more exposure and you should post this at places like toyota-4runner.org (#1 T4R site), tacomaworld.com, etc. Bring as much exposure as you can to this problem.

Toyota's aren't what they used to be. Toyota's were reliable, and had good craftsmanship. Now-a-days, Toyota vehicles are throw-aways after 100K (if you can get there).

Toyota frames should not be doing this at 100K. Toyota should come forward and do what's right. I suspect Ohio winters and especially salt were your enemies even though you kept it in the garage. I'm not saying you are the cause of the problem, cause you aren't.

Others should be inspecting their frames every year and be winterizing them. While it might not totally eliminate it, it will protect the frame some.

Take care, and thanks for the message.
