I've been looking at a SL AWD and was curious what interest rates people were offered from Nissan. I was looking for either a 60 or 72 month financing.
Anyone know if they are going to have any special promotions on pricing in the near future? Right now the dealerships don't seem to want to wiggle much from MSRP.
I would much rather have memory seats, a feature we use all the time (when swapping driving chores during the weekend) than the backup camera or the smart key.
Many of the cars we test drove had the backup camera and I never once used it. I'm too used to turning my head around and first, then backing with mirrors. I'm sure that the backup camera will eventually be standard in all SUVs but I don't feel like I'm missing much without it.
Likewise with the intellikey, I have never had a car with it so I guess I don't know what I'm missing, getting a key out of my pocket really isn't such a big deal for either me or my wife.
The only LE features I would miss are the iPod interface and the power up lift gate. I still don't feel like there are good enough lease deals on the Murano to consider it.
While an LE Murano has slightly more tech features than a base level MDX, in most ways they are very similar with the differences being that the MDX has a better, longer warranty, is a roomier car (with worse gas mileage) and in my opinion a much, much better (better engine, quieter and sharper steering) riding car.
I can't see the sense in paying more to lease an '09 Murano LE than I would pay to lease an '08 Acura. I would also feel better about buying the Acura out at the end of the lease if it had been reliable due to the better long term resale and lower long term maintenance costs.
You got to be kidding. Two emails to the internet saleman at the closest dealer and we were at invoice pricing. Fitzmall is under invoice. Go back a ways and read some of the posts here. People all over the country are buying Muranos for invoice or less.
Try not to come across so abrasively. Not every area of the country is as competitive and in some markets AWD vehicles go for a higher price above invoice than in other areas.
It also depends on how many dealers are in your area and how far away you are willing to drive to get your deal.
In small markets with little competition it's not uncommon for dealers to get MSRP or close to it on the latest "hot car" as evidenced by people posting in this thread about local dealers charging MSRP + extra dealer markup on this car.
This is my most recent pricing. Is this close to invoice or a good deal.
2009 SL AWD with leather package, premium package, moonroof, splash guards, mats, and roof rail crossbars. The MSRP is $34430, and your internet price is $31551.
Work with the dealer and they may have other lenders that are competitive. The dealer I used for the 09 LE got me 4.39% for 60 months with 25% down payment.
I think backup camera should be mandatory on all cars bigger than a sedan. You just can't see what's immediately behind your truck otherwise. Backup camera is available on pretty much every SUV on the market now. The camera is new to me but I am getting used to it. I like the Murano's camera that is center and has line markers to help you judge distance. On the MDX I think it's off center and on the CX7 it lacks the distance lines.
Agree that Intelligent Key isn't a big deal. It's a nice convenience, though. You can unlock the door or trunk just by walking up to the car, seat down, and start it. Handy when it's bad weather out or your hands are full.
According to Edmunds, they quoted you invoice price. Now the next question to ask is what are the doc fees. This is where they will try to get some of your money back. I have seen them run from $100 to over $500. Whenever i get an internet quote, i ask them to include the doc fees for a fair comparison.
I think if you are going to purchase the only fee that may be acceptable is the Service fee (my was 149.99, which is at the higher end). If you are going to lease, there might be a Document or an Acquisition fee which could be up to 800$ I heard. It's very hard to avoid as I heard, it's almost like a closing fee on the mortgage. But if dealer tries to add document fee for purchase you can just cross it off or find your own financing for the vehicle.
This doesn't seem like a very good deal. What is the break down of the "down payment" you mentioned, what portion of it is lease acquisition, etc, and what portion of it is cap cost reduction?
There are many other high quality SUVs with higher sticker prices than the Murano that would come in at the same or lower lease payment but with NO money down.
Lexux RX350 Acura MDX Volvo CX90 Honda Pilot Toyota Highlander
One of the really nice (and for me unexpected) features that goes with the automatic "two-driver" system is that when you shut the engine down the steering wheel moves up and out of the way, and the seat moves back. Sure makes it easy to get out.
I hear you. I'm working on prices for a SL AWD 09. There are so many Nissan's in the central jersey area. I'm trying to figure out which is the best to deal with and of course price is the biggest factor.
I got my 09 LE from Pine Belt in Keyport, NJ recently for $100 over invoice. They have a big selection of SLs and especially LEs. The dealership is pretty easy to deal with, not that pushy, and the $100 over invoice price was given to me after the first email. Their doc fee is also quite low at $129.
I just purchased a 2009 SL FWD today. The dealer offered 5.99% for 60 or 63 months. That was a bit lower than what I had already arranged through my credit union, so I went with it.
Just had an awesome experience with State Line Nissan in Kansas City. Total price out the door was $34,702.55. Does not include tags, taxes or license. Also got 5.99% financing from dealer. Transaction was easy, no pressure tactics, no arrogance, super-professional atmosphere.
Splash guards Dual Panel Moonroof Premium Package Technology Package Floor Mats Cargo Area Protector with Flip-Up Function (great for groceries) Roof Rack Cross Bars Nav Leather Package Pinstriping (didn't ask for that...just came that way)
TMV indicates full MSRP in our area, so I think the deal was OK. Also, the dealer had to get the car from about 275 miles away. Regardless of the make of car, it seems that everything sent to KC is AWD and we really didn't want it because we will tow this vehicle behind a motorhome in a couple of years.
Has anyone recently purchased a new 07 Murano? There are still some new ones available in my area (MA). I would like to know how good a deal to expect.
I am nervous about buying an 09 as it is the first year of a redesign and I'm trying to save some money. I drove the Rogue, also a new design, liked the looks/size, didn't like the power.
Since you can get invoice pricing on the 09 murano. It makes no sense to buy a 07. Those cars have been sitting on the lot for months. When I ordered my 09 murano they weren't giving big enough incentives to buy a 07 and the ones on their lot had 1000+ miles on them.
At least one dealer in the Denver metro area is advertising leftover '07 Muranos for "up to" $6000 off of MSRP. Given the fact that the new model is out, and car sales are abysmal anyway, I would think you could do at least $2000 below invoice without blinking an eye...presuming you can still find the vehicle you want.
Hello, I am looking to buy a 09 FWD SL Murano in the next 30 days. Is it beneficial for me to wait to see if there are any April incentives offered from Nissan? I thought I read somewhere that new incentives begin on the 2nd of every month? I am seriously doubting any incentives on the 09s at this point anyway. Any insight someone can give on potential incentives is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I just test drove the Murano this past weekend and like it....although i didn't let the salesman know that. He said there may be incentives next month, April, but don't quote him on that. It probably depends on how well it's selling. Why put incentives on it if it's selling like hotcakes? I've yet to see any on the roads in my area so the high prices could be keeping people away. Either way, i'm holding off until Memorial Day weekend. Hopefully the combination of holiday sale, gas prices, and slow economy will benefit buyers with getting a better deal on this model. Good luck.
I have been following some of the great advice given here and am requesting offers from my local dealers.
I am looking for a 2009 Nissan Murano SL FWD Platinum Graphite/Black Leather with Premium Pkg, Leather Pkg, Technology Pkg, Dual Panel Moonroof and Floormats. My math brings the invoice price to $31,441
So far I have been offered $31,295 and $31,000 both seem great but am I forgetting something? We have a trade in that we will negotiate seperately after we get the best deal on the purchase. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Don't forget to ask about doc fees or other fees. Ask what the out the door price is to compare. You can then go back and see what the offers are on your trade.
I negotiated a very good price on a SL AWD over the weekend. They are ordering the Merlot for me. I got the price down to 31100 (300 below invoice) for the AWD, leather, moonroof, premium package. The MSRP was 43430. Once I sat down to do the paperwork they added a 300 dollar doc fee and 249 window etching (all their cars come with the etching automatically). So my price basically after fees went back above invoice.
Hi. Since this forum was so helpful to me when I was formulating my car buying strategy, I wanted to share my buying results. I'm in the Atlanta area and just bought a 2009 Murano SL that includes the technology package, premium package, leather package, roof rails, illuminated doors, roof rail cross bars, splash guard and carpet mats. My final price was a few dollars below invoice and that price included all doc fees, freight, etc. The only thing I had to add on was 6% sales tax.
I went the Internet route and requested quotes from four dealers. One dealer immediately came back with a price that was $150 over invoice (which included all fees). I asked them to drop the price by $150 to bring the total cost down to invoice, which they agreed to do. The negotiation was all done through a few pleasant email exchanges. All I had to do then was go into the dealer, test drive my actual car, and sign the final paperwork. It was the best car-buying experience I have ever had!
I do want to point out that out of the the four initial quotes I received, two were relatively close to invoice and two were just under MSRP. Therefore, when requesting quotes, I suggest going to at least four dealers so that you get a good feel for the pricing range in your area. Also, now that you know dealers are indeed selling these cars at invoice, you can use that as a negotiation point if the quotes come back too high.
I hope this information helps somebody else out there!
Excellent my friend, glad to hear some experiences aren't so painful. Now you mean invoice for the vehicle plus invoice price for all the accessories also?
This is my deal, let me know what you guys think?
------------------------------------------------- Your special internet price is:
MSRP: $38,260
Your Price is: ................................... $35,170.00 Tax ...................................... ........... $2,110.20 (6%) State Fees, Tire Tax, Doc. Fees, Lien Fee, Plate Transfer, ....................................$123.45 Total Due ......................................... $37,403.65
I agree, in fact that's the exact car that I've been looking at including the color. I've got the same price except for $249 fees. I am going to try to get the fees down to $50 or so. The auto business is slow here. The 2009s have been sitting for almost a month now.
Hi, I m in Salt Lake City, Utah and thinking of 2009 Murano LE.
This is the quote I received from the dealer: 2009 Nissan Murano LE AWD Super Black, Beige Interior 3 piece floor mats, Navigation package, Moonroof, Splash guards. Sticker price $39,920.00 Internet Discount -$1,000 Sales price $38,920.00
I sent a reply to them asking if this $38920 include all the fees, tags, and taxes.
What do you guys think the total price including taxes and fees that I should be paying in Salt lake city, utah?
Thank you for your help and input.

Sale Price $38,920 tax $2,693 liscnece and title $66 VTR $390 doc fee $300 Total out the door $42,368
Since we know that dealers are selling the 2009 Muranos below invoice, I would send quote requests to as many dealers you can find within a 2 hour radius of your house. I think I would even say that you have been following Web discussions that Muranos are selling at invoice, including all fees, and that is the price you are looking to pay.
It never hurts to ask. I just know that with my experience a few dealers were quoting just under MRSP via the Internet and a few others were quoting just over invoice. I think the folks asking for a price close to MSRP are gambling that you aren't going to shop around further.
Atlantabuyer1, I'm looking for virtually the same vehicle with the exact same options. Can you tell me which dealer in the Atlanta area made you the best offer? I plan to do my email/fax after the Easter holiday to as many as 6-7 dealers. To sweeten the pot I plan to buy a Rogue for my wife at the same time to give them some extra incentive. I'm hoping it's enough to get me a deal at or below invoice cost on both vehicles. It will be interesting to see what happens. Thanks for your post and any info you can provide.
Thank you Atlantabro for the info. Total Invoice Price with options and dest charge: $36,438 Tax: 2600
So, I replied to them and said the best I am willing to pay is $39,300 out of the door. They replied and said $41000 is the best they can do out of the door. I sent request for quotes to two other dealers but they replied and asking me to come dealership or call them.
So, I should be paying invoice price ($36438) plus tax and tags. I hope to get the target deal. Thank you again for your help.
Don't forget Documentation fees which they will throw in at the last minute. Those could be 200-300 dollars. You need to negotiate including those fees also.
I'm in Northern KY close to Cincinnati, Oh and I received an email from a dealer that had quoted me $7-800 over invoice for $200 under invoice. I suspect Nissan is offering incentive money to dealers until end of month.
bmr, there might be a typo in your numbers there...i can't believe that a 43k murano had an invoice of 31k. i sold nissans for 2 years, and there was nothing in our lineup that even had half that amount as a markup.
Any idea when Edmunds is going to update the TMV? Still showing list price as TMV. As evidenced by this thread, that would no longer seem to be accurate.
Edmund's TMV is never accurate. I've always bought for way less. Usually you can buy just about any vehicle at invoice or less if you are patient and deal only with the internet sales people.
You may well be right, at least to a point. Depends on the vehicle and the demand for it. Am pricing Murano LE against Highlander LTD.
One of the problems (at least with Toyota) is determining what exactly constititutes "invoice". Toyota lists destination, TDA (advertising), Holdback, and Whsl. Financial Reserve as seperate line items in the make-up of invoice. Very confusing (no doubt deliberatly so) and I have a quote for $500 above that number. This works out to be about $600 below TMV. The price is also in-line with Fitzmall which I tend to use as a guideline.
Your term "way less" is a bit vague. On a vehicle that lists in the high 30's, way less to me is at least $1000-1500. I freely admit that I reach the point quickly where I am not willing to get an ulcer over a 1/2 to 1% difference in price. I'm dealing with Thompson Toyota in Doylestown, PA - they have been there a long time and have an excellent reputation in the community.
We'll see how I make out at the local Nissan dealer who has also been there many years.
