If I buy the 2005 EX model, what additional feature of real value do I get versus the 04?

Is the variable cylinder management system available on the EX/LX?

Is there any other seating configuration change
that is available on all models?

Do we get side curtain on all models?

What about cabin noise reduction versus the 04? Is the cabin noise roughly the same on all 05 trims?

Answers to above questions will let me decide between the 04 and 05.

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

Didnt mean to hurt your feelings (there, there) But I have owned white cars almost exclusively and I think I just want a change. Even though I do like the maintenance free aspect of it. I honestly cant even remember the last time I washed the car and it still looks good. I think I washed it once since my last baby was born and she is 14 months old now. So it has to be about 10 months or so and before that, well who knows. I dont want any dark color exterior for sure but long for something a little different. In all honesty I doubt my hubby will let me get anything but white, I am just hoping for the choice. I did see a white Quest the other day and thought it looked really sharp. Totally the best color for that body style. I dont really like the DC vans in white though, I think they look better in color.

I have a picture of the dealer's order chart showing color combos. On my PC I can zoom in and read the interior color choices. I tried image station, but the pic they post is less detailed and fuzzy. I can email to 10thcar or foxb1 but your email addresses are is private in your profiles.

    foxb11,
Thanks, I sent the pic to you.

States they may be from a ride and drive.

HOORAY!!! An 8-Passenger with Leather!! That's what I need (provided the power hatch is an option as I have been told). I know there will be comments that the middle seat is narrow, but keep in mind that when they are all pushed together, it will become more of a bench and the small middle seat will not be as evident IF the transitions are smooth and not bulky.

I can't wait to try one on myself!

I like the tan color pics from that link.

Looks like the 3rd row is similar to Sienna now (60/40 split with integrated head rests that don't need to be removed).

I wonder if the side doors were purposely left part way opened, or if that's all the farther they open? Seems narrow.

Is that a subwoofer in the back left sidepanel?

I wonder why they didn't try to hide the slider track in the new model.

Well, I hit a snag...work network blocks me from accessing my photo site. Seems that it uniformly blocks me from any site that looks to be personal photos. I will create the site from home tonight, and post the link then. Sorry for the slow turnaround, I didn't think I'd be blocked from accessing my photo page.

Looks like the EX-L with Navi & RES. Very nice. It looks like there's a large removable panel on the driver side above the wheel well -- what looks like a handle 2/3 way up. Could this be where the spare tire is at??? Surely there's not enough room???
  • mochisushimochisushi Member Posts: 126
Looks like 2005HondaOdyssey.com is posting pics pretty quick. The photos they have now were e-mailed this morning. Might want to try them. There is a webmaster e-mail address on the site.

It's got to be a Canadian version of the minivan as the speedometer is in km/h. I can't read what system it is but looking at it it tops out at 160 which is just ridiculous for mph but makes sense if it's in kmph which is what Canada uses I believe.
  • mochisushimochisushi Member Posts: 126
Good catch...If you look closely, there is an outline of a circle that looks large enough for a donut. I think you're right. The guy from autospies stated that the spare was located there.
  • leadfoot1leadfoot1 Member Posts: 17
Actually, it's not unreasonable. Our 4-cyl US Camry's gauge tops out at 140mph, and our European specs (where everything is kph) Ford Fiesta (little itty bitty thing) has 220 kph at the top end. So, for a vehicle with 255HP to say 160mph on the gauge is entirely reasonable. Crazy, but reasonable.
  • vertrkrvertrkr Member Posts: 21
I'm probably wrong then in my assumption. I still find it ludicrious to have it go that high, heck I bet the tires aren't rated for anything higher than a 100mph and what typical family person is actually going to drive their minivan faster than 80 or 90mph in the USA. I'd much rather have the speedometer top out at 100 and have larger graduated spacing. Oh well, small quibble.

VCM will only be available on EXL and Touring. Others will get standard 6. VCM tops at 28-29MPG.

Interior noise is less than new Sienna. I have the decible readings, but I don't know that anyone cares about that level of detail.

Airbags: Everyone gets dual stage front, front side, side aribags and 3-row side curtain airbags + rollover sensor.
  • turboturbo Member Posts: 27
Power rear door is standard on touring, not available on others. EX and up gets power side doors.
  • vertrkrvertrkr Member Posts: 21
If you have decible stats you must have access to info most of us regular joes don't have. Please share more :-)

This van is a chameleon, it seems it looks somewhat different in every picture. I really think it looks good. All cleaned up with no camo and shiny. I did not expect a blue interior and I think it looks good, but did I miss blue as an interior color option? So we think this is not the touring? It seems to have everything! These are definitely the best photos yet... Thanks Turbo for taking these. Cant wait to chat with you when you get home from work and hear what else you have to say about it. I think Honda struck a winner with this one, if the price is right I will definitely own one and post my picture like Mochisushi suggested :)

OK Turbo, you seem to have all the info today. Hit us with what you know about pricing, etc.

The interior was grey. Lighting makes it look funny.

Does the '05 Ody Touring have XENON head lights?

Nothing hard on pricing. Touring supposed to be at 33-34 and "down from there". I had heard before that touring would include RES, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Both NAV and RES will be options on top of base for EX and Touring.
  • dfc101adfc101a Member Posts: 35
Turbo, thanks for the great info and pics. I am, maybe was, interested in the Touring model but want the 8th seat. What does the Touring model get in place of the 8th seat?

On a side note, I find it strange that Honda removed a feature like the 8th seat from the top of the line.
  • lynnwlynnw Member Posts: 119
Do you mean that it would top out at probably $34K? Because that seems like a very reasonable price to me or would RES and NAV drive that price up? BTW did you happen to see what color the lights were on the cluster? Where they blue like anticipated (like the new accord?)

Didn't notice the lights. My understanding is 33-34+NAV+RES=37-38. Didn't notice the lights.

Wow, the van looks aweson outside! Thanks for great photos, turbo. Interior is bit plain but I can live with it. I want the 8-seater with leather and my wife really want the power liftgate - too bad it's only avaiable on touring model, which does not have 8 seater. It's gonna be a tough choice...

"Both NAV and RES will be options on top of base for EX and Touring."

Can you have NAV without RES? Or must you order RES if you want NAV?
  • cooldad24cooldad24 Member Posts: 163
I am sure the side door can be open even more since my '99 can and I can't see the edge of the rear frame. The front doors are not opened entirely.

About the 8-seating option, does anyone know will the passenger side 2nd row seat be fold and tumble forward for easier accessing to the 3rd? Can we remove the center jumper-like seat and slide the passenger side to form a bench if only 7 needed like 99-04 model?
  • turboturbo Member Posts: 27
Agree. I was in the same position, but am not willing to give up the 8th seat. Their response was that the Touring is supposed to be "sportier" and they didn't think that model would want an 8th seat. Lame. Toyota did the same thing or I would probably already be in a Sienna XLE. Touring gets a "removable center console" in place of 8 seat option.
  • turboturbo Member Posts: 27
I assume you would have to get RES if you wanted NAV, but both were simply shown as available options.
  • fbearfbear Member Posts: 117
You can get EX/L with just RES but not Touring.

    Touring comes 2 ways:

     - with RES & NAV
     - with neither one

I am pretty sure of this since I have a copy of the Dealer color option chart and it clearly shows the 7 different trim levels that can be ordered:
    LX
    EX
    EX-L
    EX-L RES
    EX-L NAVI/RES
    EX-L TOURING
    EX-L TOURING/NAVI/RES

or does that middle seat look fit for small kids and munchkins only
  • fbearfbear Member Posts: 117
My understanding is that the Touring gets larger captains chairs in the second row and they are not compatible with the combination seat/table/hideaway thing-a-ma-jig used for 8 passenger seating.
  • bshawnbshawn Member Posts: 8
Turbo, do you know anything about the LX model.... pricing, power sliding doors, 8 seat config, roofrack, other options etc...
  • turboturbo Member Posts: 27
Side doors were only partially opened. 2nd row outside seats slide forward like 10" and tilt. Jumper seat is called "Stowable Plus One" because it folds completely into the floor. I'm not sure if the outside seats can scoot over with the jumper stowed.

Anyone else think the front sort of hints at the new Acura RL?

I like it more on these pics.

No plus one seating. No power doors.

    Turbo,
I am assuming that the pics on 2005HondaOdyssey.com are yours since I don't see any other links. If so, Thank you very much. Great pics and really helps us visualize the true car.

As for the Power Hatch, I called my dealer to let him know about the pics and he is still saying that the power hatch is an option on the EX. The GM at the dealer apparently ordered some with this option. Since you said that it isn't available on EX, are you getting different information?

    Thanks again and great job!
  • lynnwlynnw Member Posts: 119
looks like the pilot to me.
  • turboturbo Member Posts: 27
He may be right. The info I saw did not show it as an option, so I asked someone and they confirmed it would not be available on the EX. My wife wants it too, so we can hold out hope...
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    Yeah, guess so.

Lights have been getting taller lately, eh?

  • mochisushimochisushi Member Posts: 126
That's the first thing my wife said when the first pics showed up. However, I think it looks more like the front of the Pacifica with the two lights behind each clear cover and the large grill. I'm sure that I am not the first to think this. Either way, IMHO, I like the looks; she's not quite as convinced since she loved her '99. But, this time, it'll be MINE. Or at least that's the way it will start. I think I'll be the Sub commander within a couple months! You know the saying: "What's hers is hers and what's mine is hers" :-)
  • lynnwlynnw Member Posts: 119
I like the looks of it too. When you compare the two front end (the '04 & '05) I do prefer the looks of the taller front end. I think it makes it look a little sportier and I was getting sick of the "sloped" front ends on the minivans. I dont think it will be too long before we see the DC vans change their front ends. I was hoping for power liftgate too and also dual power sliding doors, but I dont think I want to pay $38+ for it. Seeing how I also want nav & res. I guess I will have to make my choice based on what I feel is most important. I hate car payments and hate payments upwards of $600+/mo more. I dont know we will see. I am still chewing on that one.
  • pluto168pluto168 Member Posts: 44
It does have a truck/SUV look from the front. My wife will like it since she's not too fond of drving a van yet.
  • gjay1170gjay1170 Member Posts: 67
Thanks for sharing your pictures with all of us. They're the best ones yet! This van is going to be exactly what I picked out, but with different exterior and interior colors. Is this 8th seat standard with EX-L? It's teeny tiny, but I can fit skinny kids without booster chairs there. I love to see a picture of the second row in front view. Again, thanks for the pics.
  • pluto168pluto168 Member Posts: 44
It seems that many of us want the power liftgate. I'm really hoping it's available as an option on the EX-L 8-seater trim...it may be a deal-breaking thing since my wife is fairly petite and she really really like that feature...
