Thanks treepusher, that's exactly what I will do regarding the bluetooth phone.

I am planning to get my 330xi with black interior but I really don't like the aluminum trim, it reminds me of the G35 that I test drove and didn't like. Is there someone out there planning to get the black dakota leather with some of the wood trims, or am I in some strange color-blind dimension?

Last comment, I don't think getting the E90 with the active steering is worth it. If my wife's Ford Expedition at more than 7500 pounds doesn't need it, why will a 3300 pound car would???

    Best regards,

Comparably equipped, there's only about $3,300 difference between the two.

I just turned in my 530i with the Dakota Black Leather and Vavona Wood trim, and I thought it looked rich and sumptious, virtually all of my passengers thought so too. ;-)

I was told that it will not be possible to get a decent lease deal on the new cars, since they will be in demand. is that true?

    Thanks. :)

Did anyone here attend the 3 Across America event in Chelsea, NYC tonight?

Thoughts? I enjoyed everything.. except I thought that Jean Jennings from Automobile magazine spoke as though she was intoxicated.

I have seen interior photos of an E90 with beige interior and it was extremely monotone. The door panels, seats, rear a/c vent console and almost everything else was a sea of yellowish beige.
Then I saw another photo showing a light-colored interior with contrasting darker trim on the door panels. What color is that and is it available on both the 325 and 330?
I tried configuring a 325 on the BMW site and none of the color choices looked like the the photo I with dark inserts in the light door panels.

Are you referring to the Terra leather ? It replaces the current "natural brown" .
Im not a fan of 1980's silver trim OR the G35,thats my .02c :)

As for the Shadow line trim the only problem I have with it is here in TX sun , My 323i Sport began to deteriorate very quicky.IM talking less than a year. BMW does sell the goo But, can i have your trim when you tear it off ? :)

"The new dashboard is so super plain (especially in the base model pics)" 307webb

307webb, I could not agree with you more. I just don't get it! Why would BMW designers come up with something so bland, so out of touch with the driver that makes a cheap SCION Tc a much better runner up in interior design. Two little knobs for temperature control??? c'mom, please come up with beautiful bottoms that illuminate that boring Oldsmobile looking dash. Aside from the steering wheel, which I think its pretty good looking, the rest of the dash has to go back to the drawing board. Luckily the exterior is very aggressive and well designed.

I own an 2005 Audi A4, and I love the interior of the car and everyone that have ridden with me always comments on its beautiful layout. I am still considering the 330xi for my wife(when it comes out fall this year), because I love the how German cars drive and how well they are built. I have driven bimmers for a long time and I know the E90 will put a smile on my face, but I am going to have to wear a blindfold so not to see such as waste of beautiful materials in such a boring interior.

I am still dreaming that they'd re-design the interior in a couple of years.

    Wishful thinking though,,

  • I live in Chicago and want to order a 2006 325. Question is the 325i now or wait to order the xi for AWD. Very concerned on a RWD car in a Chicago winter and the hassle of changing snow tires, especially one with no spare, is daunting. Your opinions are appreciated.

I also attended the 3 Across America event last night and I agree that Jean Jennings was not very articulate. Maybe it was the cold medicine.

"I will be getting black with the dark wood trim"

That's great Selm, there are some of us out there! Based on the website, I like the look of either "Black Sapphire Metallic" or "Sparkling Graphite Metallic". In my opinion, it looks extremely sharp in dark colors and I really don't care about the heat since I live in New England. What are you planning to get?

    Best regards,

    excellent point about the spare....

    my question would be...

could you rely on an air compression and a couple of cans of fix a flat for the snows....

    Thanks for the prices, blue.

I think that eliminates any thoughts i had of picking up a e46--with options, i wouldn't be saving much.

What am I going to get, I am wondering the same thing! I am going to do ED in October so I have until July to make up my mind. I am trying to keep the MSRP to 34K or under assuming that the going rate this summer is still at MSRP.

The outside is Jet Black, interior black with dark wood trim. 6 speed manual, and here is where I get confused:

premium package or a sport package with power seats? What are your suggestions?
    ----------------
What's the weather like in the Alps in October? I am from SoCal so I don't have experience driving in snow.

Not sure how premium can cost 2200 as the only worthwhile things in it are lumbar and leather.

The exterior colors don't show up very well on the configurator on the BMW site.
What is "Arctic Metallic?" It seems grayish on the web page, but it looks like they already have several shades of gray and silver (Titanium and Graphite, plus two different blacks) and little else.
  • ivan_99ivan_99 Member Posts: 1,681
Artic Metallic...It appears to have a very sligh blue-ish ting to it.
  • 307web307web Member Posts: 1,033
It must have been the "Lemon" interior I saw, since the only interior that isn't monotone that apears in the BMW configurator is Terra.
Maybe in black, the interior wouldn't look quite as plain as in beige.
I think the Terra interior looks a little gaudy and the all-beige and all grey are super-bland. The all-beige rear air vent console with all beige door panels looks really cheap in the photos.

    Thanks.
    The wholesale price looks sweet.

It's amazing how you can publish the secretive wholesale price!

Definitely looking into the ED now!

    Thanks again.

307, that's why I'll go for something like my current car - gray leather, black floormats, black cube trim. The two tone works perfectly and it still keeps the car cold and austere enough for me to like it. Not a fan of browns/earth tones and won't buy a light interior or black...not too many options after that.
  • deweydewey Member Posts: 5,251
Gimme the new 330i/325 Touring with a stick in any color(interior and exterior) as long as I can get the best discounted price off MSRP.

My first choices are jet black/arctic white--both look nice and cost nothing extra. I dont like spending extra money on colors.

Rather put the money in my children's education fund or on something very useful as a 60' Samsung LCD TV.

I have been popping in here every week checking on what people are saying to look for and what info i can get. I ordered a 325I, I could not pull the trigger for an extra $4300 for the engine, yes i know it also has the Logic 7 radio, and yes it had the rims I liked, but I passed anyway. I did notice the dash was boring as the earlier posts mentioned but i got Idrive with navigation, so the dash looks a little bit better. The dealer showed my how to change the radio with the I drive control on a 5 he had at the lot, needless to say he or I could not change the radio in under a min, thank god for the steering controls. I got the sun shades in the back and I also got the rear back up sensors, (my wife stops by sound--crunch--- i went to far), I asked about the active cruise and he said not nec. I still dont know what it is but I think it was expensive. I was told I would see my car hopefully in Mid-May.

Sounds like you want the bling bling stuff...
  • dom1dom1 Member Posts: 22
"premium package or a sport package with power seats? What are your suggestions?"

IF $ was no object, I would do both. If you don't care about leather, then I would opt for the sport package. Specially since you are in CA. I am doing PP plus heated seats, plus I am considering getting the SP but I'm a little bit concerned about driving in the snow with those tires. I know I can do snow tires, but I don't know if I want to deal with the hassle of changing tires twice every year.

ED in October should not be that much trouble in Munich. They don't get that much snow. If you are going to the Alps, then just drive slow... (I can't believe I just typed that!), just drive safely. It shouldn't be too much trouble.

Too bad you are not there the last 2 weeks of September, which is when they have Oktoberfest.

    Best regards,

you should have swiped the jack from your E39 before you turned it in:) You actually earned it because you put so few miles on your 530i.

Where I work in The Bronx there is a tire shop down the street from me. I pull up to the curb, he jacks my car up on the right, switches the tires, then repeats on the left, and I'm ready to roll. It costs me a $15 twice a year.

I'm really excited to go and check out the new E90 at the NY Auto SHow on Sunday. We'll be there 1st thing in the AM when they open the doors. BMW will be the first place I hit.

Active cruise control is cruise control with a sonar sensor on the front bumper that "measures" the distance from your vehicle to the vehicle in front of you.
When the guy in front of you slows down, your cruise control will adapt and slow down to the speed of the guy in front of you. When he speeds up or you pull out into the passing lane, your car resumes the set speed.
All of this has some limitations of course (like when he slams on the brakes) but that's how it works.

    Hi blue:

Thanks for these great prices. Now, is there any way you can get the same stuff for Canadian prices?

I am having a problem with the runflat no spare decision. Especially in Sports pac where staggered wheels cannot be rotated.

Living in the highest growth County in the US, construction (and nails) are every where. Flats are common. I can change myself in 10min or less. Under those circumstances would go something like this:

1)Warning from car tire has been punctured.
2)proceed to work (less the 50 miles)and park.
3)Return in the middle of the nite to a flat tire.
    4) call BMW assist who says they cannot help change tire because there is not spare, take to tire shop on my own dime during business hours.
    5) tire is ruined and they do not stock Pirelli Eufori..
6)finds an old donut from escort send me on my way...

I'll buy the 330i with European Delivery and I would like to know the 7% savings apply only on the base price, or on the final price (w/packages and options)? Also, I want to pick it up in early September, when i should place the order? Do I have a choice to choose the exact date for pick-up or they'll assign me a date? Thanks for anyone who can answer my questions.
  • ivan_99ivan_99 Member Posts: 1,681
Price is just base price...options get added at the standard rate they do in the US.

I think the earlier the better you order with the new model.

The BMW site does a good job explaining all the details.

Is there any chance that 2006 325i will come with optional SMG?
  • bmwcccbmwccc Member Posts: 234
    None at all!

SMG production starts in Sept but I'm not sure if it will be available on the 325.

will be replacing my wife's 99 TL soon. had considered the Lexus IS but the engine sizes seem odd. the new 3 series seems underpowered relative to the TL -- in terms of HP -- but i am not familiar with their engines. Will the 325 feel underpowered. thots?

Sorry, its a 2006. My BMW sales rep said that my car should leave Germany by the end of March. I'm not sure when it will reach where I live though. Maybe in May sometime. I ordered the car in January.

First, there's an ED section on townhall. lots of good info. Second, you get the ED wholesale price i posted and then find a dealer who will work with THAT price plus 1k over it. That's you're starting point, essentially 32k is where you start, not the 33-34k listed on bmw's site. Using BMW's normal method the dealer will get an obscene amount of cash for doing nothing.

Pick up in september...order in june.

The car may be ready before you pick up but as long as they're getting your money, they're not gonna fret over a few days.

I am new to BMW's and am currently debating between the 2006 325i or 325xi. Is the xi worth waiting for or does the dsc system on the 325i work well enough in the snow so i dont have to wait for the xi to come out?
  • 325driver325driver Member Posts: 7
I live in Northern Chicago and I currently drive a 2004 325i to work in Milwaukee, Wisconsin every day--a 40 mile each-way trip. The DSC is pretty good; I have no problems this past winter, however, I must admit that when the snow got really bad, I used my wife's SUV to give myself an extra margin of safety. My advice is if you live in the snow belt and don't have an SUV (or don't want to drive an SUV), get the xi.
