If I'm not mistaken, Logic7 is a Harmon-Kardon brand. The 330i will come with the Logic7 Surround Sound system included, it is an extra cost option for the 325i. Interestingly enough, the Logic7 system is an $1,800 option on the entire line of 5-Series cars.

I'm thinking that it does not come with the changer as the package price (with changer) on the 5-Series is $1,800. Also, nothing in the ordering guide suggests that a changer is included in the Logic7 system for the 3-Series, however, said ordering guide DOES say, "Pre-wiring for BMW center installation of 6-disc CD/MP3 changer".

I don't give a hoot about a cd changer, as long as i can plug in my ipod.

Thankfully, no. The "Active Steering" system is a $1,250 option on the E90.

Also, per the Ordering Guide, "Users can also expand their listening choices with optional SIRIUS Satellite Radio, six-disc CD changer and standard auxiliary input for connecting MP3 players."

I drove the 5 with sport package(both) and though it drove "quite well."

Ahhh, I think you mean "Active Roll Stabilization". Yes, no? If "Yes", then I'm afraid I have bad news, ARS does not appear to be an option on the E90. :-(

The answer is a definite "Maybe". You will need to find a dealer that still has some ED slots. Since there are only a finite number of slots available, it's first come, first serve, and given the pent up demand for the E90, I'm guessing that ED slots are in short supply for this summer.

ARS was *fantastic*.

I'm extremely dissapointed it won't be available on the 3. And, to be honest, without it, some other cars move higher on "the list" for me.

Dear Shipo, I agree with you, why pay for extras when you don't need them. Although I live in MA, in this case, I do need AWD. My driveway can be described as the hill from hell. Just a few inches of snow means my 160K mile Pontiac Sunbird gets stuck. I have no problem with my wife's big SUV with 4WD. That's my reason for needing AWD.

Anyway, nobody replied with any info on the Bluetooth cell phones. I guess that means "buy the car, then try the cell phone".

Keep up the comments, I really enjoy them and have gotten a lot of info from them.

Hmmm, sounds like my street, which is a 7.5% grade with most of the driveways going UP at an even steeper rate. In our case, our driveway goes down from the street at about a 9% grade. When we first moved up here from New Jersey, my car was unable to get up the driveway with as little as a quarter of an inch of snow covering it. Once I put winter tires on it, I was able to make it up the driveway as long as the snow was below the door sills. In all fairness, there are four driveways that my 530i wasn't able to climb when snow covered, however, in each case those neighbors have big 4x4 SUVs or Pickup Trucks, and they cannot get up either so I don't feel too bad about not making it up. ;-)

Or just cover them up and sign a waiver. I'm not real concerned with airbags or crash ratings. If it happens, it happens. Such is life. Had a lot of bad things happen in my life and I've learned to just pick myself up and move on.

Heated seats now includes heated"side bolsters" Also power seats say "Sport Seats" I assume they are not talking about the standard chairs. I hope there are several variations at the "parade"

I think I read somewhere that the E90 has a new feature where, when you're driving in the rain, it periodically does a very light application of the brakes. Not enough that you would feel it, but enough to squeegie the water off the disks and keep some heat in them.

Very clever. I haven't had this happen on my E46, but on my A4 I remember that the first time I would apply the brakes after driving for a few minutes in heavy rain, my eyeballs would temporarily get pretty large, not to mention the pucker factor, as I would get a momentary feeling of "no brakes!" :-)

The New A4 05.5 has this feature as well. I have to wonder what the long term effects on the pads and rotors are considering they are very soft as it is. I guess it depends on how "light" the application is.

Kinda funny when you look at the list of options for the 06 330i, it's mostly look-at-me-gee-whiz junk.

According to the official description of the 3-Series from BMW-USA:

Brake Drying. Acting on input from the rain sensor (an element of the standard rain-sensing windshield wipers), the pads are periodically brought up to the rotors – just enough to eliminate any film of water between pads and rotors, but not enough to cause a brake application.

I don't imagine it will affect brake life too much if at all. That said, I too have had a good deal of "Pucker Factor" when applying the brakes in wet (or even worse, wet & slushy) conditions on several cars, so I don't really care what it does to brake life. Then again, the brake pads are part of the "Free Maintenance" program, not that I would be inclined to take advantage of that freebie. In my case, I'm going to swap out the High-Dust OEM pads as soon as my car hits these shores with a set of PBR/Axxis Deluxe Plus or XBG pads, so the last thing I want my dealership to do is to put OEM pads back on when the first brake job is due.

Agree w you on the awd, it isn't really neccessary in New England (good snows are) but the CWP includes heated seats, mirrors and s/w.
I wouldn't want to do w/o them in NH.

What is the advantage of the after market pads you are looking at vs. the OEM pads the 300i will come with?

I know there is a black filmy dust that always leaves a dirty rim factor but what else? And obviously when those brakes go south BMW is not going to replace those right?

Depending upon which model of aftermarket pads you buy, you will get some combination of the following characteristics:

- Less Dust
- Greater Stopping Power
- Greater Fade Resistance
- Longer Life
- More Noise
- Reduced Rotor Life

I put PBR/Axxis "Original Deluxe" (now replaced by "Deluxe Plus") pads on my 530i and couldn't have been happier. Those pads provided virtually identical stopping power and fade resistance when compared to the OEM pads, but with virtually zero dust. For the E90 330i that I'm most likely going to fetch in Munich next April, I'm torn between the "Deluxe Plus" pads and the "XBG" (formerly known as "Metal Master") pads. It depends upon whether I find the time to do a little "Tracking" of the car, if "Yes" then the XBGs, if not then the "Deluxe Plus" pads will be more than sufficient. Either way, both types will keep the wheels cleaner (the XBGs allegedly have "some dust" but no where near as much as the OEM pads) and still provide excellent stopping power and fade resistance. Since I always buy new rotors when I replace a set of worn out pads, rotor life for me is not an issue.

The only SprintPCS phone I have on my Bluetooth list (as of March 7) of BMW compatibles is a 'discontinued' Sony Ericsson T608. You might check with a BMW dealer to get any updated info.

The new dashboard is so super plain (especially in the base model pics).
You really need the Premium Package wood and navigation system to add some richness and a contour to the plain dashboard.
Without the navigation screen, it looks like taxicab dashboard.
I can't believe how cheap, plain and flat the top of the dash looks when there is no nav system installed.

The interior picture looks pretty sweet from BMW's 360 view. I'm sure it's been mentioned in this forum, but are those rectangular boxes above the glove box cup holders? There's one that's immediately underneath the passenger right vent, and one right of the stereo.

After messing around on the bmw site with the 06 configurator, I'm getting more used to the interior.

I'm hoping with an ED I can specify some different options - like shadowline trim (hate that nasty chrome crud around the windows) and aluminum cube trim for the interior.

Is the shawdowline trim part of the ZHP package on the 05 model (much like the aluminum cube)? I never paid attention to that when I test drove one several months ago. Is it slick?

Shadowline trim is black - thus no shiny chrome stuff around the windows.

The aluminum cube trim in the interior is flat and not the least bit smooth or shiny. It's actually kinda ridged.

The E90 will be equipped with "Run Flats", meaning that when the car is built, it will be sans jack. Given that I live in New Hamster, and given that I'm not at all inclined to get a 330xi, I'll need snow tires. The problem is, my floor jack has proven to be too high to fit under either my E46 or E39, so I'm positive that it will not roll under an E90 as well. So, without a jack in the trunk, how do I change my winter tires?

Here is an option I am might consider and wanted input on. Active Steering, any thoughts out there for $1250?????????? Keep in mind I am getting on the edge of the financial level of pain as it is.

Seriously, I use a little independent shop, and since I bought my winter tires from him, he swaps them for free.. And, he is only one mile from the house, so transporting the tires is no big deal...

I plan on getting the 330i and I am thinking about getting the Sport Package. Will the car still come with chrome around the windows for the trim, or would it be the black shadowline trim? I really like the look of the chrome trim more.

Assuming that the E90 follows the tradition of the E46, then yes, you will get chrome if you order a 330i, while the 325i will get the dark trim. However, if the E90 gets configured like the E39, then the non-SP gets the chrome while the SP versions get the dark trim.

Personally, I thought that my Sapphire-Black E39 530i with the SP (hence black trim) looked fabulous. Given that I'm inclined to take advantage of living in New Hamster (three hot days a year), I'm probably going to order an E90 in Sapphire-Black with the SP, as such, I really hope that it gets the dark trim as well.

There isn't a 6k difference between them. Go look at them on the bmwusa.com site. 06 325i v. 0330i = 5k difference but the 330i comes with the upgraded logic 7 stereo, xenon lights, OBC, memory seats, auto headlights/washers, bigger brakes, bigger wheels, 40 more hp, etc.

Do the math on a 325i with memory seats, xenon and logic 7, OBC...might as well jump to the 330i.

dlw, that's funny as I'll either get bmw to replace the chrome trim (ideally sp will do that) or I'll tear it off by hand. I'd prefer if the kidneys weren't chrome too but I've not seen an option to delete those.

In regards to the kidney grill, since you prefer the non chrome look, couldn't you just replace yours with the black grill that comes standard on the 325?

I believe the 325i is 30,900 and the 330i is 36,900, thus the base price is 6k difference. However, your point about the gap closing if standards for the 330 are considered is valid.
