Picking up my Pearl white TSX non-nav tomorrow and I can't wait! I used James Bragg's Fighting Chance packet and it worked out real well. I'm saving almost $750 over what my dealer originaly quoted me when I first test drove the car ($26,900). $26,161 from Motorcars Acura in Bedford, Ohio.
  • craig14craig14 Member Posts: 8
There are a number of changes from the 05 to the 06. For 06 the TSX gained Bluetooth (not part of Nav), updated wheels and front and rear facia, added horsepower, memory seats, new style wood trim (on cars that have wood trim) and that is all I can remember. For 07 the only chnages are the addition of TPMS. Maybe a slightly higher MSRP.

Well as I was about to leave after the dealer quoted me a price of 391 a month for 72 months. He offered me the same deal but 340 a month for 72 months. I was trading in my 2000 honda accord, they told me 8000 for it. I was getting the 2006 acura tsx with navi. Car had a msrp of 30,500. I am not in the extreme need of a new car, can I wait longer for a lower price or is that the best I will get?
  • biker4biker4 Member Posts: 746
Don't negotiate monthly payments, negotiate price of the car. Also, try to separate the trade in from the purchase.

Anything around invoice is a good deal. If you want to wait you can take a chance on an 07 but with the MSRP going up and no meaningful changes coming it makes sense to make the best deal now.

Acura of Orange Park Fl is offering 28,250 out the door. All the others dealers in Orlando Fl will not come even close to that. The close it ones in 1,200 more out the door. That everybody thing about this price?

    Thanks

I'm looking to buy an 06 TSX (automatic) without NAVI in Cincinnati. Quoted $26,400 ($300 over invoice) which seems very fair vs. Edmunds TMV and about average for what I've seen posted here.

Asked the salesman to email me the final figures for the car today and the trade in we negotiated for my old car. Was a bit shocked at a $250 doc fee. I got my current car (not an Acura) 5 years ago and doc fee was $50.

    Any tips or advice appreciated.

Just purchased brand new charcoal pearl with black leather for $25,975.33 before TTL. I bought from McGrath Acura of Westmont (near Chicago) and would highly recommend it. I talked to 15 dealers, mostly in Chicago with a few in the Bay Area and McGrath Acura of Westmont was the best price and no B/S.

To get to this price I relied heavily on carbuyingtips.com, and used all the internet services to get dealer quotes. Carsdirect.com, cars.com, Autoweb, etc. and will never purchase a car any other way. Fast, easy and gets results. Thanks to all who posted before and helped me to get the exact car I wanted at a great price!

Edmunds has been very helpful site for new buyers. Thanks a lot for all the Edmunds users. I have got a OTD price of $29916.00 for 2006 TSX with navi (wheel locks and splash guard included). What do you all think of this price? What is best price you think I can get 2006 TSX with navigation system in Orange County. I am a first time car buyer in US. Please post your opinion.
    Thanks.

Call the salesman, and tell him that the price you agreed to didn't include $250 of profit padding in the form of a document fee. Ask him to remove it, or reduce the price of the car by a corresponding amount.

You won't get what you don't ask for..

You must be lucky, but I found McGrath Acura of Westmont very poor at service. I tried calling them 9 times to get a quote, nobody responded till now with any quote and also it is really hard to talk with the same person you talked earlier. I am not going to call them agian.

I bought a 2006 Silver/Ebony TSC AT/Non-Navi yesterday from Columbia Acura. The car had 1.1 miles on it when I test drove it and 9 miles when we filled out the paperwork!!

I called the salesman on my lunch hour and told him that I thought $100 was more than fair for a doc fee and he got the OK. He said that they just raised their fee in July from $100 to $250. A friend of mine who is a salesman at a Toyota dealer told me that they also recently raised their fee to $250. I'm wondering if it is a maximum fee in the state of Ohio since it seems an odd coincidence that both raised their fee at the same time.

I also got $300 off the $26400 initial negotiation bringing it down to $26100 (invoice price) after Superior Acura across town offered me invoice price. Total deal ended up $175 more than the total offer from Superior Acura since Superior offered a better deal on my trade but would have had to order a car from Columbus, 120 miles away. Worth it for a spankin' brand new car vs. one I hadn't seen w/120+ miles on it.

My only mistake that after negotiating the final price on the phone between meetings at work, I asked how much splash guards were instead of asking him to throw them in for free to make up for the $175 gap. Paid $180 for them which is too much since the mud/splash guards cost $93 in the parts dept and the rest is labor which I should have gotten included. Net, I paid about $175-$350 more than I probably needed to but I got the car I wanted from a dealer conveniently located halfway between home and work.

I've seen some notes specifying what the holdback values are on TSX and TLs. How/where do you find out this information since that seems to be the only secrets still not readily av'l from what I could find online?

    thanks

The dealer is trying to make as much money as possible..

Your job is to pay as little as possible... you might have to introduce some competition to get the prices down..

I got a 2006 tsx from Acura of Orange Park Jacksonville for 28,250.00 out the door. I don't know if you live close by. I drove from Orlando to get the car. No local dealer wanted to match the price.
  • bz2bz2 Member Posts: 15
if OTD includes dest and all taxes might be ok. you can get a TL w/o nav incl destination in chicago area for $29800 or with Nav for $31,800
  • flatsflats Member Posts: 44
We picked up a new TL last night from a Cleveland dealer. The doc fee was pre-printed, not hand written on the price sheet as $250. This gives the impression it's nonnegotiable and fixed. We got a very good deal on the new TL, trade-in, plus some extra accessories so I didn't make a big stink about it. I felt as an educated customer we got a good overall deal even with the high doc fee. But when I got home, I looked up the price sheet from a car we purchased from them years ago, and the doc was written in at $50. Why it increased fivefold in a period of a few years is beyond me.
I agree with post #2892, practically everything is negotiable. Ask them to justify the price. Also watch out for all the extras that pop up in the financing area, we passed on all those pure dealer profit scams.

Thanks bz2. Has anyone purchased a TSX recently. Following is the price breakup (includes splash guard and wheel locks).

    27450 Invoice
2127 (7.75 Tax in Orange County)
    338 (TTL)
    ---------------------------------
    29915.00
    ----------------------------------

2007 TSX is expected to be in the showrooms by the end of Nov. So can I expect to get the 2006 TSX With navi at a lower price, say like around $29000.00

    Thanks.

Please respond back with your experiences of buying

Just purchased a 2006 TSX with Navi yesterday in Torrance and my otd price was 29727. The finance guy told me that over the next month someone "might" end up getting a sligtly better deal like $50 to $100 less than what I paid yesterday, but it would not be much lower than that. I'm very happy with the price I paid.

Also, inventories are getting slim. A dealership that I negotiated with last week sold out of all of their Carbon Gray with Navi on Monday. That definitely put a fire under my butt to get out there and get the car I really wanted, not the car I was going to have to settle with.
  • rookie_buyerrookie_buyer Member Posts: 4
thanks vixxen. Can you please give more details on the accessories you got for that price? Did you get a protection package? What is the Invoice price? If you remember then please give the breakup of Invoice price and Tax/Title/License fee price that you paid. Did you pay anything other than these stuffs.

    Thanks.
  • vixxenvixxen Member Posts: 2
I don't have the paperwork with me, but I think this was the break down.

    27,189 2006 TSX With Navi
    2246.81 Tax
    321.75 (title & license)

$29757.56 OTD (this included wheel locks & mudflaps - no protection packages purchased).

    Good luck!
  • biker4biker4 Member Posts: 746
You might get a bit lower price on a left over around xmas time but the chances that the car will be configured like you want it will be low.
Anytime you can get the car you want at invoice, take it.
  • otherguy66otherguy66 Member Posts: 1
I've been shopping around a bit and so far the best offer I've been able to get is $27,299 w/ Navi, wheel locks and splash guards included. That sounds pretty good judging by what others have posted here.

That offer was from Acura 101 West in Calabasas, but I've not heard good things about them so I'll most likely take that offer elsewhere and have it matched. I've already spoken with another dealer who said that wouldn't be a problem.

This is my first "new car" buying experience. Anything I should be on the lookout for? So far I feel pretty good about the deal but I am not exactly sure what to expect when I walk into the dealership.
  • biker4biker4 Member Posts: 746
Just be sure to say "no" to everything after the price of the car has been agreed to. :shades:
  • isgoodatmathisgoodatmath Member Posts: 2
    paying 25,500 + 380 in fees + tax

    good deal?

    are fees negotiable?

i'm thinking if they won't do anything in price having them throw in some accessories like a trunk tray, splash gaurds or whatever else isn't included.
  • biker4biker4 Member Posts: 746
DOC fee is somewhat negotiable but with that price you're getting a great deal already.

With some of these low prices I'm wondering if there's some under the table money Honda is giving out we don't know about. :confuse:

Paying anything close to sticker on an 07 will be a huge price increase - get the 06s while they last.
  • isgoodatmathisgoodatmath Member Posts: 2
    Got a price of 25,388.00
    paid for gap insurance 595.00
    sales tax of 1,818.81
    NJ Fees of 261.50
    Dealer Fees were 185.00
    OTD 28,248.31

I agree that 06's are running out...right now is the perfect time...they will get an end of the month rush cuz they'll try to make monthly quotas...your going to lose leverage as time goes on...when the 07's come out more expensive...the 06's will dissapear. The only addition is tire pressure monotoring so no big deal. Not worth the price increase.

This was from acura of ramsey...very impressed with them...i showed up at 3:30 and walked out the door with a car at 6:30...they rushed getting it cleaned and together so i could drive off the lot with it that day. I don't have the best credit but they beat my current loan offer i had from capital one which was great.

I also dealt with acura of ocean, acura of east brunswick, not impressed.

Dealt with acura of middletown ny, and dch heart acura who were good but couldn't match the price.

    Good luck with your purchases

I picked up one tidbit - the DVD version that the dealer in Northern Calif had in all of their TSX's was potentially out of date (version 4.31).
This is the web site to look at from Alpine for the navigation DVD Alpine DVD Site
According to this web site version 4.55 is the current version.

This will cost $185 plus tax/shipping to update if you don't catch it.

I've got a deal cooking for out the door cash price 30,204.02 including the wheel locks, splash guards and a trunk tray - Royal Blue/Parchment, Auto, Navi. Last detail to iron out is the DVD version - I'm asking the dealer to take care of this for me. Friday's the day if this pans out.

    Good hunting.

I'm trying to negotiate for a TSX with navigation in Northern Virginia. I think the dealer nearest my home will give me an out the door price of $29,000, with lifetime oil changes. Is this a good deal or should I press more?

Also, how can I tell if the dealer ran an unauthorized credit check on me? After test driving, I realized the salesperson asked for my driver's license twice and knew my car loan had been paid in full. I'm suspicious as I've heard unauthorized checks are illegal. Can I use this to help me negotiate?

I honestly had not thought that the DVD version would be out of date. I'll be sure to check it when we get the car.

Wow watch the gap insurance from dealers, you should be able to get 1 year gap insurance from your insurance company for about 60 bucks. Not sure what it would cost for more years but it can't be 600 bucks. Old Mike

First time buyer here.... could anyone please let me know if the $27,189 price quoted above is inclusive of the destination charge?

I'm looking to buy the 2006 w/ navi and was wondering if most people have been able to negotiate the holdback.

    Thanks
  • biker4biker4 Member Posts: 746
It probably is a good deal but to know for sure you have to post the price before TTL.

There should be some paper work to do a credit check - they'll also need your SSN. Unlikely they'd do that without those. Not a negotiating help - just tells you it might be a shady sales person.

    Hi All,

Right now (late Oct) i can get invoice on a base TSX (auto or MT)...however, i was thinking of trying to save a few $$ and get 1 (preferably 06) with very few miles on it.

Can anyone tell me what they think an 06 base model with 8k to 12k (000) miles on it 'should cost'? I see them advertised for high/mid twenties, but since the invoice for a brand new vehicle is 25.5k, i am hoping to get down to around 22k for such a car...Possible or not?

    thanks.
  • biker4biker4 Member Posts: 746
The only way to find such a car is to get it via a private sale. The dealers are not going to sell a used 06 for less than 24K at which point you're better off getting the brand new one at invoice - especially on an MT model.
  • bs0bs0 Member Posts: 27
thanks biker4...i just pulled the trigger on a deal - a dealer near me gave me invoice so i though that was pretty good....invoice on a brand new 06, MT - carbon gray - can't wait till tomorrow to get it!!

I will post the full price breakdown for everyone later!

The dealer is quoting me $27,927 plus taxes, tags and $245 processing fee, for a 2006 TSX with navigation in DC. Is this a deal?
  • carshopper21carshopper21 Member Posts: 1
I am interested in getting a TSX ( 6 speed manual) without navigation system. I am in the eastcoast and will move to the bay area in a month or two. I can either get a car now and ship it to California (the company pays for the moving cost) or wait till I get there (I have an option to go to the west coast in the middle of Nov.. If I get the car, I can garage it at my friend's home.). Another difference is the sale tax, 5% vs. 8.75% at CA.

I did some background research. There are still lots of 06' TSX on the lot in the East coast and the quote is $26.2K + ttl. However, I got mixed information from the westcoast dealers. Oakland dealer gave me the same quote and concord dealer told me most of TSX were gone and they even sold it for sticker price.

I would like to get some help on this and any suggestions are highly appreciated.
  • nj2pa2ncnj2pa2nc Member Posts: 811
I would suggest you go thru the acura website dealer locater and get the dealers located in california or whereever. Then go to the dealer sites and find what inventory they have.I did this. It proved to be very helpful
  • biker4biker4 Member Posts: 746
Between all the extra fees/taxes you are unlikely to come out ahead even if you save a few $$ on the car itself by getting it in CA (CA does seem to have the lowest selling prices). Not only that there might be very few 06s left by the time you get there. Find out what constitutes a used car in CA so you can register it as such when you get there.

We picked up our 2006 TSX (AT with Nav and protection package) last Sunday from Pleasanton Acura. Price was 27700 + TTL. Sales person was excellent. No hassel price.
  • crontabcrontab Member Posts: 12
Almost all dealers are quoting me 25.3K - 25.5K before TTL for a 2006 non-nav auto.

Am trying to find out if there are any further incentives now that the 2007's have arrived.
  • avuusavuus Member Posts: 2
I bought a TSX non-nav in Maryland for 26,700 OTD.

It was $400 under invoice. The dealer really wanted to get rid of the car. I might have been able to get it for a little less, but I am really happy with my purchase! :)
  • avuusavuus Member Posts: 2
Does that 25.3K - 25.5K include the destination fee?
