I have following this forum for a while and am thrilled to report that I just bought a TSX. Here are the details Base Auto/non-Nav (Incl destination) - $25995 OTD - $27112 Got a color of my choice Dealer - Karen Radley-Woodbridge, VA Method - Booked through the internet Financing - 2.9%
Thanks a lot to all of you for sharing your experience.
Okay, so i first planned on buying a while TSX with parchment(beige) interior but i just happen to see a Milano Red TSX on road and i just loved it looks but its appears there are very very few of them with parchment interior. And there were none in NJ except one inside the showroom for showing purposes ya know and it had the spoiler too so it looked stunning. Man i had to change my choice for sure and i did so still i didn't have one. I'm gonna pick it up on thrusday...sigh! okay numbers Sale price $26651 (dest + spoiler) $28937 OTD. (159 doc fee,7% tax,7.8 tire fee,254 licence) I wonder if i got a decent deal if not very expensive.Dealership is Montclair DCH Acura. Hope this helps! Cant wait to get my Red TSX.... Good luck guys!
Wow! thats some deal. Just curiuos how is your OTD just $27112 when your base price was $25995. I mean how much is the sales tax in VA and what were your other fees like doc, tire and licence. I hope you're enjoying your new TSX. I'm waiting for mine...:)
Thanks to all who responded to my query about the quoted price not honored. I have had to go a bit higher, but it seems like the best I can do on a Navi car, 28,200 before TTL. I am out of state and will need to travel to pick it up. The dealer will probably fax or attach to an email my temp bill of sale when I make a deposit. Anything else I should get?
Thats a good price! I think you should be fine but what state are you travelling to pick your TSX? I was quoted $30,233 OTD for Navi TSX Auto but they didn't have it in the color i wanted I'm picking mine tmrrw, cant wait! Good look at the dealership and enjoy your new ride
I'm a bit frustrateed that the offer they're giving me at the dealership includes about $650 in the protection package. When I questioned the car having to have it, he said "all acura dealerships put it on"..."you can't get a car without it".
Secondly, how much should it cost to have a car transported from another dealer. It's several hundred miles away, and they'd be bringing it in on a flat-bed...should that be $1100 like they're saying?
The deal overall isn't too bad considering I have a trade involved, which always makes things tougher. I'm just too lazy to sell it on my own. Here's the breakdown:
Selling price (w/protection pkg): 31,100 Transportation: $1,100 discount: $2,100 (dealer said they'd 'absorb' the transport cost and knock another 1k off) trade offer: $7,000 ( i owe 8,700) OTD: ~32,600
my trade is an 2001 accord EX-L coupe, 88.5K, manual, spoiler, black on black. KBB for 'excellent' on this trade is ~$8,000 / very good is ~$7,000 / retail price is almost $12,000
Any input on this deal would be greatly appreciated...far from good, close, where could I make things better?
Hi, Not trying to dissapoint or something but what the dealer is saying about protection package is BS. It took me by surprise. What state is this? I'm not sure about the costs about transporting from another dealer. Selling price 31,100?? Its not even with navi. i hope you're talking about TSX and in the right forum. I got the OTD quote for a Navi for $30,223. So not sure about your figures. good luck!
Personally, I wouldn't pay any extra for transport (that seems strange to me, destination fees are included if you ck the invoice on edmunds.com) and I did not go with the protection pkg (you can always do it later if you really want). So, you can get a car w/out it. I am assuming you mean extended warranty. I am beginning to wonder about your dealer...
I would negotiate the sale price separately, which at this date should be close to invoice price (in may I paid $28,400 for Auto w/ NAV, which is about $500 over invoice). Once you are happy with that, then talk about the trade and extras...others may think differently. Just my 2 cents.
The transport fee is separate from the destination fee. This dealer located the car I'm looking at from another dealer, so it's the cost of bringing it from one dealer to another. I don't disagree with taking that cost into account, but i just don't know if it should be that much.
Well,I live in NJ and my dealer said they wont charge me anything if i plan to go for a color which is not available with them and have to get from another dealership in NJ.I wanted a red, beige with nav but it was not available anywhere in NJ. What is this place you're talking about?
As for the transportation of the car, that's a tough one. For one, you should negotiate the price of the car separate from the transport fee. Usually dealers will trade cars with other dealers and I'm thinking they'll have their lowest paid employee drive the car. But if its several hundred miles, the dealer probably wants to avoid all that extra mileage incase the deal doesn't go through. I had a car towed on a flat-bed about 24 miles - cost me $90. If it was 240 miles, then will it be $900?? Go to carbuyingtips.com or carsdirect.com and you'll get a better idea of the price for a TSX w/nav.
I have a feeling the protection package is put on at the factory, because I saw a TSX in a back lot that still had all the plastic on the seats and even on the hood and trunk and it had the protection package on it. At that same dealer ship the price for the package was $595 on one car and $695 on another - both TSX.
The dealer is Tim Smith acura in fort walton beach, fl. The next closest dealers are within a 2-4 hour range, but there are plenty at that distance if I'm willing to drive there; but only if I knew it was just about a done deal...I'm not wasting tiime driving 2-3 hours to bargain a price I may not get.
Nope, TSX as of today doesn't have any offers going on for purchase except that "lousy" leasing special. 2.9 to 4.9 scheme is gone but i overheard someone at my dealership that they might come again for TSXs too. I believe TL still have that.
Purchased a 2006 TSX auto w/o nav in Dallas/Fort Worth at Vandergriff Acura for $25951+TTL, including tint and wheel locks. I tried to get them to throw in the all-season floor mats, and left when they wouldn't throw it in. Came in the next day to sign for the car and caught the 2.9%/36 month financing deal on the last day of the month. No finance fees other than the interest and I didn't put a single dollar down.
Don't pay any advertising fees or anything of that nature. They offered, but I didn't take the lo-jack, some paint protection thing they offered, and the extended warranty. Vandergriff was extremely professional and fair. By far the best dealership experience I've ever had.
Loving the car--drives like a dream and the bluetooth is spectacular! Good luck on your Acura experiences and thanks so much to this forum. I saved at least several hundred for sure!
That is a great price. If I had the price in front of me I'd be so thrilled. Did you need to haggle with the sales people to get the price down to that? The last offer I got (all e-mail so far) was $450 over invoice (TTL to come later). Thanks for the info.
Dairyshick, Here's my thought. RUN! Your negotiating for a great car with a dealer who is playing you. Price the car out on Edmunds, tell the dealer what you'll pay, stick to it and walk out the door. In addition, do not speak about your trade in until the price on the TSX is in stone. If you don't want to haggle at a dealership, get quotes online through Edmunds. I purchased my last four cars that way. By the time I walked into the dealership, all I had to do was sign the papers. Do not pay extra for the protection package. You CAN get a TSX without it and you don't need it. The transportation cost you are being quoted is outrageous. When you negotiate for the car, tell the dealer that the price you are prepared to discuss includes tax, tag, title and every other line item that they try to permanently type into a contract. The dealer that you are dealing with is a 'dealer'. Sounds like he'd be very successful in Las Vegas at a blackjack table.
Hi, I cannot more agree with catcher. I have the same thought and if you remember i said the fact that dealer is saying TSX comes with protection package from factory is simply BS. Just move away from this dealership cause they dont sound good to me and just want to mention i was quoted 28,800 OTD by one dealership in my area and for some reason just the day i was going to sign off papers someone suggested me to call the dealerships outside my area like an hour and half drive or so from my place and i told them (lied) that the deal i'm getting is 28,000 OTD and i was able to pull him down to 28,200 (30,223 for Navi) which i still think is not a bad deal. They gave me free locks and window visors too. I dont know what other dealerships you have in that area but i'd rather stay away from this kind of dealership. Just think of a price and stay firm on it. These "dealers" always have a good margin so dont worry you're asking a low price or something. This car is a fun and i wish you good luck! for a pleasant buying experience at some other dealership.
If you are not willing to so some leg work then this dealer is the right one for you and will take all the money you are willing to throw at them. :surprise:
Everything about that deal sounds like the dealer spotted someone for the takin....
Even if you can't be bothered to sell the Accord yourself at least make the effort to get a quote from CarMax or some other private reseller - the reson for the lowball trade is that the Acura dealer will just turn around and auction it off and make little on it - they can't be bothered so they'll low ball you.
If you can wait just make a deal on an ordered car - the dealer should be able to get you one already in the pipeline - even if the deal doesn't get any better at least you can avoid the $1100 shipping fee.
Beside not getting a good price be ready bend over for the doc fee - Florida is one of the worst for this. :lemon:
As others have said - either do some leg work or don't complain when people point out the poor deal you got. :shades:
Here is S. California I have received quotes for a new 06 TSX with NAV/auto for invoice.
Understanding that here in S. California there are quite a few Acura dealers:
1.) how much do you think I can negotiate below invoice before the dealer loses money? I would like to find out what additional amounts the dealer may receive from Acura for each car sold.
2.) Do dealers really incur the destination charge for each car sold? Can this be removed without the dealer losing money?
I'm considering making a purchase from a dealer who will 'get' me the car with my color choice from another dealer. They require a $1000 refundable (so they say) deposit for the car. Other dealers have told me the same (just not they amount) to get the car of my choice. Have others done this? How did it go for you?
Well, it should be okay. When i was looking for a mazda last year, this dealer authorised my c/c for getting the car from another dealer. It should be safe. Not sure how much amount he specified. hope that helps! good luck.
No, the all-season floor mats were a no-go. So, when I left the table the first day, $114 floor mats were separating me and the deal, so I was pretty comfortable with the price I was getting. They didn't call back or anything to try to negootiate further on the floormats.
I didn't really have to work too hard to get the price down to that. I had an email quote from David McDavid in Plano that he was willing to go down to invoice for the 2006 TSX auto with wheel locks(his first offer was invoice+2%), but that didn't include the tinting. My target number was $25900 + TTL with tint and wheel locks and I was trying to get the protection package, or at least the all-season floor mats thrown in, but thought that may or may not happen.
I think I spent a total of 30 minutes haggling with the salesperson and I had no trade-in, as that muddies the deal. Again, they were extremely professional and polite and left my dad and I alone to talk when we wanted privacy to discuss numbers. I thought that was really professional.
Good for you. I also got exactly at invoice. Congratulations on your new car. What color did you get. I got a Milano red cause it looked stunning but now i fee its a little more eye-catching...
Which dealers are giving you invoice for the TSX? Are they in OC? Down in SD I can only get about $400 over invoice - no one seems to budge or I don't know how to haggle. I've gone to two different dealers telling them my price ($26,200) and neither would work with me.
Anyone have any experiences with Acura dealers in the Boston area, especially Acura of Boston? Would appreciate knowing if they will go anywhere near invoice for a '06 TSX. Thanks.
I bought my TSX from Acura Boston in January. I got it for $30,850 including everything (navigation, rear spoiler, taxes, registration, etc). Great experience...can't complain. I negotiated the price over the email. When I stopped by the dealership the internet manager wasn't there and I was able to get even a lower price.
I got the Nighthawk Black, which looks incredible when clean, but not-so-hot when not (as it has been for the past couple of days). The red was nice but it wasn't for me. I wanted either the Arctic Blue or the Black, and because they didn't have the Blue in stock, it made my decision a lot easier.
My interior is black, mainly because I didn't want the wood trim that comes standard on the Parchment.
So what does that come out to be relative to invoice minus the TTL? Negotiating with them now and they are hard to budge below $800 above invoice. I think they can go lower.
Nice deal! Did ya get multiple on-line bids or just go directly to Acura of Boston? How did you manage to get a lower price than what the internet manager quoted? Was the TSX you bought on the lot or did you order one? Thx!
The 07 models are coming in the next couple of months. Any car purchased now will be a year old as far as blue book. I can't see paying more than a bit over invoice for one of these.
Will it be that difficult to get similar deals as those being discussed here when the 07 models arrive for 07 models? I just do not think so.
I found a used 2005 TSX/9000 miles/silver blue color/1-owner/1 year and 1 month old/non-navi/with protection package for $23000 from a private party in the seattle area. What do you guys think? Is this a good deal? Any gotchas to look out for? Anything I should pay particular attention to?
I have an e-mail offer of a selling price of 26,446 . The out the door will be 28,813.97. This does include the wheel locks, mud guards and trunk tray.
What does everyone think? The 26,446 is below Edmunds TMV and Yahoo's average selling price.
The only thing is that even if one could get an 07 for close to invoice (unlikely the first few months), that invoice will probably be higher than the 06 invoice. So for the additional TPM system (the only thing that supposedly was added for 07)you are likely to pay much higher. :shades: Also, historically the MY change over for the TSX doesn't take palce until Nov.
I read that destination charge will go up for 07; why do you say invoice will probablly be higher?
Even if you could get an 06 TSX for $1,000 below invoice, it will still have depreciated around $3--$4k when those 07 models arrive. If you are planning to keep it for a long time I do not see it being an issue, though if you only plan to keep it a couple or few years, I do see this being an issue.
The invoice almost always goes up proportionally with the car sticker.
If you buy an 06 today at 26K and an 07 in Nov for 27,500 (my guess for a good price) and try to sell them both in the summer of 07, there won't be a much bigger loss on the 06 vs. the 07 - they'll both depreciate about 2-3K. Actually they both might depreciate more in late 07 when the all new 08 comes out.
Finally did it. 2006 TSX, 6spd non-nav, includes protection package. It was $28,356 OTD. TTL was about $2200 or $2300. However, it wasn't so simple. This is the 2nd visit I made with the dealership. When I was there the last time, the lowest I got was $28,200, but didn't make the purchase thinking it could go lower. Today I returned and after a few minutes of checking out the potential vehicle I asked the sales guy what price are we talking about - he said: "we were at $28,356 last time, but knocked off 100 and got it down to $28,200" - Ok I said. After going through most of the paperwork he hands me a print out with the price of $29,7XX - I asked what is this? He told me its the price of the car. To make this short, we argued about 15 minutes as to what he said. I talked to his manager - told him what was said. We settled for $28,356. When I was with the woman who takes your money, I asked her if she thought it was a good deal, she said her mother didn't get a deal like that. Not sure if she is there to make it seem like I did. But, it was lower than Edmuns TMV and Yahoo's average so I'm thinking I did ok.
I got multiple bids. I actually pre-ordered one on a different dealership and then got a better deal in Acura Boston. I told them that this is my final price and they had to agree. The car was on the lot...
Hi, I am shopping for 2006 TSX in Winston-Salem, NC area, would you mind providing me more info your purchase price, negotiation, and some other details? Thanks!!

Compared to carsdirect.com, you got it for about $500 less.

Just visited Radley Acura in Bailey's Crossroads, Virginia.
I'm interested in either the TL or the TSX. Here are the quotes I got from the salesman:
TL: $32,375 (includes destination)
TSX: $28,227 (includes destination)
Additional costs include TTL AND a $245 processing fee.
So a couple of questions:
1) How much wiggle room do I have? I haven't even tried negotiating yet, so I assuming this isn't their lowest offer.
2) With those quotes, would you pay a processing fee? Or could I probably get out of that.
Thanks!
