hi tomyang. i would say you got a pretty good deal with your TSX. do you mind telling me how much you paid out the door? i do agree that Glendale Acura have the best attitude since my husband i bought our TL from them and have even become good friends with the salesperson that sold it to us. we're now thinking of getting a TSX for our second car and i'm just doing some research. i would greatly appreciate a reply from you. thanks! :shades:
since i just got back from a dealership i might as well tell you what i learned today. when they say their special financing is offered at 2.9% for 36 mos and 4.9% for 60 mos. they are sticking to that offer. i was hoping they would have a 3.9% for 72 mos. (since we got our 2006 TL for that deal when we bought it back in November 2005) but i was told that they wouldn't even be having that special anymore.
for the black leather interior, of course it will be hot but then it also looks awesome with a black exterior. my TL is black on black and it's a head turner i got it tinted for $155 in LA and i am very happy with it. i don't think dealers do tints but it won't hurt to ask anyway. i hope this helps! :shades:
ya, they also told me that honda financing sets the rates so they cannot be negotiated. I am just hoping they have some sort of special financing to get rid of the 06's when the 07's start rolling in. So I just told them I'll wait until I can get a better down payment. How much did the tinting work on cutting down the heat? Also, someone at carmax told me you cant tint the front windows at all in California. Is that true?
I vistied one of the dealer shop in mid NJ. They gave me a Internet quote $26,1XX NONAVI auto. But OTD was about $28,8XX. Actually, This is not a bad price but I have expected under 28,000, so I need to pay 1000 more. The dealer said they don't have many TSX in their stocks so they don't have any reason to provide special discounts. I belive that is true. Recently, Honda is not producing many TSXs because they are focusing on TL.
After I was disppoined at the price, I have visited Honda to make a test drive of Accord. Recently, accord gives pretty good deal as new camry came out. I test drove V4 not V6, but it engine was pretty good. The engine sound was rather loud but OK to me. Even it is not so powerful as TSX which is using the same engine with higher HP tuned. The interier is rather cheap with less options like voice recognizion, I don't know if I really need to pay $5000 extra money to get Acura.
As you know, Japan Accord is US TSX and US accord is sold in Japan with higher price than TSX with different name, however, their interier are switched between. I got a Accord quote EX-V V4, $23,300 OTD price. I may go for Accord because my wife will be upset if she knows I will paid 5000 more to get a smaller car.
Now I am considering Accord V6 and Camry, I think OTD aroung $25,500 will be possible with Leather, sunloop and 17inch wheel Accord. Would this be a better choice than TSX? And TSX will have model change in 2008, that is another minus point.
Just bought another Acura...this time it's the 2006 TSX AT with Navi/Carbon Gray Pearl in Ebony. I kind of had a hard time dealing with the price I originally wanted but settled for one that still looked reasonable. So here's the breakdown:
$27,400.00 - Price $ 160.00 - Wheel Locks and Mud Guard $ 45.00 - DMV Documentation $ 2,139.00 - Riverside Sales Tax 7.75% $ 8.75 - State Tire Fee $ 243.00 - DMV License Fee ---------------- $29,995.75 - Out the Door Price
I called Acura Escondido and Acura Glendale to try and see if they could beat this price and was told to accept this one. I think I made a good deal ($312 less invoice if i'm not mistaken). What do you all think? :shades:
All I can say is you're the luckiest person in California to get that deal. I just bought a 2006 TSX with Navi today and tried to get close to your price but no one budged. In the end I got the car for $27,400 + TTL which is still not a bad deal. Did you get the wheel lock, mud guards and trunk tray thrown in for free because I didn't?
I got the dark grey TSX with black leather interior. I got it tinted from the dealer (well, they did it through someone else, but it was done when they put in the MP3 player), and in KS (where I live) the max tint is 35% on the sides and back, and nothing in front. I might get a visor for the front window, but I plan to keep it under a roof as much as possible, so it shouldn't be a problem.
I was out in a cabin in Illinois over the last 5 days, and it was in the 90s the whole time; not a cloud in the sky. I never had a problem with the heat in the car - again, this is WITH tinted windows - and the remote window roll-down made this even less of a problem as it got the immediate heat out. It's not that the seats weren't warm, but they were very bearable.
The only problem I had with the heat was the shifter (I got a manual). It gets QUITE hot, but not so bad that it burned me.
One last note: the dealer wouldn't work the tinting into the deal, but that was this particular deal. Don't know how other dealers would be, but I'd think that anything like that they DON'T do themselves, they won't work into the deal.
thanks, im not too worried about the tinting, since my 25,800 deal sounds pretty good. And tinting looks like it will only be about 200 bucks or so. THanks for the reply though, its southern cali, it never gets too hot here, hottest would be in the 90's so looks like I do not have to worry about much if I get the tint
Can you tell which dealership gave you this quote? Looks like a very good OTD price.
We got a dealership quote for TSX Auto w/o Navi for 26,552 (includes destination) + TTL at Plaza Auto Mall in Brooklyn, and an Internet quote for 26,051 (not sure if it includes destination) + TTL from Springfield Acura in New Jersey.
Here's my story from Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Back in March I had a deal worked out with Montgomeryville Acura for a 2006 TSX auto non navi for $26,160.00 plus TTL. I wanted Royal Blue Pearl with Parchment. The dealer told me it would take a week or so to get the car. A week became two, then three and I finally cancelled the deal because they really didn't want to get my car at the price they were giving me. (My assessment anyway) They politely returned my $100.00 deposit. I was discouraged for a couple of months and decided to wait until later in the year. Well two weeks ago (June 23rd) I travelled to Davis Acura, Langhorne, Pa (45 minutes from my home) armed with all my Edmunds information. I told them I wanted a 2006 TSX auto, non- navi, Royal Blue Pearl w/ Parchment. They said they didn't have it on the lot but one was on their incoming docket in 3 business days. They showed me the docket. I told them of the $26,160.00 price I was quoted which only included whell locks. This time I wanted wheel locks, trunk tray, splash guards, all season mats, cassette deck and pinstriping and I wanted to get right to the chase. I didn't want to negoiate for 2-3 hours. They said fine. Now, I had in my head a ceiling price of $26,500.00 for this package and wasn't going to budge much. After all, pricing for cassette deck is; $484.00 list, wheel locks; $67.00, trunk tray, splash guards and all season mats package; $385.00 and pinstriping; $129.00. They came back and said, you want to get cut right to the chase? $26,300.00 for the entire package minus the pinstriping which I would have to pay for (they farm out the job). I countered with $26,000 and they said NO. I agreed to the $26,300.00 but negoiated the pinstriping down to $89.00 cash. I told them I was skeptical about the car coming in. The sales manager told me he would call me everyday to tell me where the car was. It was supposed to come in on Tuesday the 27th and did actually come in on Wednesday the 28th. I picked up the car on Friday the 30th (last day of the month) and it was painless. Everything was done (all accessories installed) no heavy salesmanship for extras (window etching, extended warranty, etc.) and I was on the road !! Sorry about the long story, but we all know how this process can be painful and this is why this forum is such a valuable community service. Thanks for everybody's input because it helps us all.
what did they do for you? i actually talked to that dealership but tustin acura beat their price, and weir told me that they couldnt even compete with my offer of 25,800
I decided to wait a little bit before I buy, and weir canyon did promise to keep in contact, I must say I am very impressed with how they talk to me on the phone, but I am wondering if they offered you anything else.
You're right...Tustin did offer me a good price too but the reason I went for Weir Acura was because they had the exact car I wanted...Carbon Gray Pearl Exterior/Ebony Interior. Most of the dealerships I contacted didn't have this combination. When dealing for the TSX you also have to ask if the price they're giving you includes the wheel locks, splash guards and trunk tray. Mine didn't include this and I had to pay extra for the wheel locks and splash guards so my price went up to $27,560 + TTL.
it was the other way around, they made me that offer, it wasnt exactly 25,800 is was 200 under invoice...so i guess that means 25,851 to be exact. But anyways, I test drove it last weekend, but I wanted a lower interest rate (4.9% is too high for me when I can only put like 5k down) All the dealers told me the rates are set by Honda financing and cant be negotiated. So I told them I'll wait until I see a better rate or I will just save for a better down payment. Which is what I liked about all the Acura dealers, no pressure at all. Weir Acura said they will check in with me once a month or so and let me know if any special financing comes.
So to answer your question in short, they made the offer, I passed. And I remember it being somewhere just under 28k out the door. I want to say it would of been 27,890 or something close to that
if i'm doing my calculations right the price Tustin's giving you (under 28K) out-the-door is a good deal. at $25,800 + TTL, i was calculating $28,088 and some change. ask Tustin if this price they gave you includes the protection package which is the wheel locks, splash guards and trunk tray. that's approximately $237 added accessories.
yep, american honda does set those rates and you have to have close to excellent credit to be approved. my husband and i got our other acura for 3.9% APR for 72 mos and i thought that was an amazing rate. i have heard though from quite a lot of dealers that it would be impossible to have 3.9% again this year. Good luck!
PS. Check out Cerritos Acura too when you have enough downpayment to buy this car. They also offered me a low price.
i doubt it included the protection package, we didnt get that far since he knew i wasnt buying that moment once I heard about the interest rates (i wanted something like 2.9 for 60 months)
but now i definetly want it. Also can you tell me if your cames with the ipod hook up. He told me it was included, but I was a bit skeptical since I couldnt really test it (did not have my ipod with me) and acura's website says its about 500 bucks or so. I was also skeptical because my friend was told it was installed on his new civic, but it wasnt.
I put a bid out for a 2006 Carbon TSX 6 spd non-nav. Three guys responded. The guy from McGrath Acura in Westmont got right down to business, no nonsense. Also gave a fair price 26,500 + TTL. One guy was a complete moron, the other guy was ok..slow to response. I'm buying the car tomorrow. This whole process to just a few hours. Hopefully I'll have everything squared away tomorrow. BTW.. the guys that were rude were at Napleton Acura. In fact they were so rude I laughed my A** off.
yes, i don't think the price Tustin gave you includes the protection package because it's pretty low and from what I know, dealers in CA already have the protection package installed in their cars already so for sure when you finalize the price, they will tell you the additional accesories and it will come out to about $26,000+ plus added fees. the out-the-door price Tustin gave you will definitely change once you finalize the purchase of your car and i wouldn't be surprised if it will be $200-$300 more than what he originally told you because of the additional accesories that's already installed in all their vehicles. ask the guy you're dealing with to give you a breakdown so you can see what extras are being added.
about the ipod hookup, it does have a built-in auxiliary jack where you can plug in an mp3 player or ipod. i haven't tried it myself but i'm sure it works since it's already installed. it's located in the center console between the front seats. the $500 ipod music link is different in a way that the Acura Music Link allows drivers to select their music by artist, album, genre and play list through the standard controls on the audio system head unit. With the aux jack, you still have to select the music through your ipod.
The dealer trade for that car is probably around $18k or less, hence the 20K asking price in a private sale. You have to decide which car you want. If you want the TSX, go for this 04 and ask for another 1k off. Dealers were selling 04s right up to Dec 04 so this car could be as young as 1.5 years or as old as 3+ years (the VIN would tell you this). It is good that it has only 10k miles, but try to find out what kind of miles they were.
Thank you. Before long, I will be looking for a TSX non-nav with a 6-speed in the Chicago area, and your comments are very helpful. I believe strongly in word-of-mouth recommendations, and based upon yours, I won't bother with Napleton, but may I ask, did they or the other dealers stock many 6-speeds? For a long time, their online inventory has shown only automatics.
Bought my new TSX for $25,250+TTL from Santa Monica Acura-no hassles, very easy. They underbid South Coast Acura who offered $25,359 w/protection package. Didn't negotiate more w/ S.C Acura since Santa Monica is closer. Power Acura Torrance stuck with $25,655 and Downey Acura, very nice, gave a quote of $25,655, but I didn't email back to bargain as I had lower quotes already. Best sites found on the Internet before buying - fightingchance.com; carbuyingtips.com; Edmunds.com especially the undercover salesman report and this Forum.
it depends on what TSX ur looking for, but they are already offering below invoice...the one above got at least 700 under invoice plus the protection package
My offer was for 200 under invoice, but looks like now I might be shoppping at South Coast Acura
It all depends on supply. There doesn't seem to be an oversupply at the of the MY on this car, so some of these deals might be the best you can do. Unlike most of cars the MY changeover on this car is much later in the year - like Nov.
I'm currently looking in the Dallas Fort Wort area. They refused my offer $27,500 +TTL, and even gave the impression that they would refuse the offer of $28K. I'm thinking $27,750 is a good price for the DFW... no one is budging. Any hints?
When I asked for quotes online the lowest internet price a dealership gave me was $27,600 + TTL and the highest was $28,185 + TTL. This was before the Fourth of July. If you ask my opinion, I think paying $28,000 before taxes is high. I'm in Southern California though so it might be different there. I hope this helps. :shades:
Can you purchase an extended warranty for Acura all the way until before the original warranty expires, or does it have to be within a shorter time frame? Where is the best place to purchase the extended warranty?
Acura is offering 2.9% APR for new car purchases. Are they flexible on who they give this offer too? For example if my credit score is 650 and usually they need a 700 score to qualify, can I get by with 650 and 10K down payment or 20k down payment or even say 25k down etc. How about if show a good income paystub, lots of money in bank, or whatever one has.
I want to purchase with 2.9% financing and I am pretty sure I will not get that offer with 0 down. But I want to negotiate for it because I think its a good deal. This is after I was offered 27,741 for nav version and right at 30K out-the-door (northern California Stevens Creek Acura)
carbon gray ebony interior, 5sp auto NON-navi. 25350 +TTL. Should i ask for the protection package or any other extras? BTW this is in nortern jersey. Thanks.
Hi all, I've been shopping around comparing TSX, s40, BMW 325i, GLI. I am just wondering what is a good price before TTL on a 2006 Acura TSX, manual transmission....no extras. Thx
It was Ocean Acura in jersey, and yes it was through an internet quote received from their internet sales team i guess...i just sent a quote request from teh acura.com site, and their first offer was the lowest they'd go...
I'm in SoCal - rcvd a number of e-mail quotes for a 6spd TSX non navi. The best e-mailed price so far was $25,851, but its a 2 hour drive. I called the local dealer and told him that price - he then, verbally, said he could only do $26,446 - and also stated "plus the protection package". This includes the destination charge. I suspect if I go in that I still need to negotiate to get the price down further since they will probably add in $500 for that protection stuff, trunk lining, wheel locks. Any comments?
Just fyi, today I picked up a new 2006 TSX with Navi from Ed Voyles Acura in Atlanta, GA. Here was my price breakdown:
Base Price: 28,459.94 Trade Allowance (for my 1995 Volvo 850 sudan): 1,000 Doc Fee: 398 Buyer's Difference: 27,857 Tax (7%): 1950.06 Title and Tag: 39 GA Warranty Protection: 3
Total: 29,850
I hope this helps whomever. I think I did a mediocre job bargaining. I spoke with a finanace person very quickly and he thought that I may have been able to take the base price down another hundred or two. That was good to know, but for me at least, that was not worth the time that would have taken. Guess the Atlanta market is pretty competitive right now. Okay, I appreciated those that did this for me, so I hope this helps all.
where in southern cali did you get those quotes...I had 3 dealers in orange county all quoting me under 26k..with tustin acura being the lowest at 25,851
While comparing dealerships in Dallas I happened upon David McDavid in Plano who wasn't sure if I was ready to deal or not. They wouldn't give me a number for the car but instead had a sealed envelope containing their rock bottom price but wouldn't let me see it til I came back. Has anything like this ever happened to anyone else? I wasn't sure what to make of it.

I called Acura Escondido and Acura Glendale to try and see if they could beat this price and was told to accept this one. I think I made a good deal ($312 less invoice if i'm not mistaken). What do you all think? :shades:
