ingeniousguy, it sounds like your PAC is satellite ready? What I would like to know is the antenna on the back of the car?
  • ingeniousguyingeniousguy Member Posts: 21
Actually, I am not sure if the vehicle comes pre-wired for the subwoofer. I probably would think NOT since our automakers are always trying to save a buck.

Also, my PAC does have the satellite radio option. The antenna does have the etching "SIRIUS" already on it. It's more like an oval style type hub located on the rooftop near the rear hatch.
  • nuruc7nuruc7 Member Posts: 98
ingeniousguy, maybe it is as part of saving money could be using the same harness regardless of the options installed? I will look at the right rear and see if that place is a cutout or a insert that can be removed and reinstalled. If so I will pull it and see of there is wiring back there.

Satellite antenna. I went to my local dealer and I saw the antenna for satellite on a PT Cruiser (it is the same one - money saving technique, use the same part on multiple vehicles)

I checked the subwoofer area and that is an insert and there is a red connector sitting right there. I think it is the connector for the audio input to the subwoofe. I will call Chrysler to check, and if it is I probably will buy the stock subwoofer, unless I can get somethign aftermarket that wil fit and is cheaper. :D

Maybe I am missing something, but how do I get the output of the video and audio from the stock DVD changer into an aftermarket screen? If I hook up to the plugs on the front of the unit, there is no signal coming out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I hear the sound through the car speakers, but cannot get video/audio into my aftermarket LCD screen.

    Thanks

    Doug

Those jacks are for input only. You will have to access the wiring harness on the back of the DVD changer to wire the external display. Do a search on the posts in this forum, there is a good posting from a few months back on how to connect it up.

I spoke w/ chrysler and they said that the subwoofer (8in i think) would cost about 90 and the box is another 220. but i don't know if the amp powers that red connector cuz i took my car to an audio shop and they tested the wires with a subwoofer (10in that should be able to be powered by the amp) but no signal came out at all, however, they only tested two of the wires at a time, maybe u need to connect all four wires that lead to the red connector, i'm gonna try to see if it can power a regular speaker with the wires and get back to ya

I just upgraded my stereo with a Pioneer AVIC-2 Nav/DVD head unit, but I would LOVE to be able to use the 6-disc DVD changer that the vehicle came with...any luck with your search?

Right rear quarter panel has a panel and everything set up for a subwoofer........A reputable installer can tackle the job, of course you would need a separate apmplifier, I'm sure you are looking at $500 total.......
  • nuruc7nuruc7 Member Posts: 98
Pacificaman, I spoke again with Chrysler on the Subwoofer, and found like you that it cost $90 and $240 for the subwoofer and the mounting frame. They also indicated that the power amp for the subwoofer was over $400 bucks. They could not tell me if the radio/CD I had in the car would be able to exploit the subwoofer, as it is not the upgrded one that comes with the subwoofer. I might go after market or seek out a wrecked pack and use those parts and see how far I can get.
  • nuruc7nuruc7 Member Posts: 98
SteelyDan, do you know if the audio wiring is there or does one have to add the audio wiring? There si a red connector there, but I don;t know if that is just power for the amp?

What model Magnaflow mufflers did you purchase? I am guessing you used a Camaro Z-28 type dual outlet muffler. But with Chrysler, three mufflers seems like overkill. I was just going to run pipe out of the dual exhaust instead into two more mufflers and go with resonated tips to quiet the sound. I did a similar setup on my 300M and wanted to do the same on my Pacifica.

BTW, do you know if there is an intake for the Pacifica?
  • pacificamanpacificaman Member Posts: 3
i've found out that if you want to add a subwoofer to the standard sound system, you have to get another amp, the standard amp is 200 W and isn't strong enough to power the subwoofer (whereas the upgraded system is a 385 W or something like that) so it's gonna be about $430 for the subwoofer, enclosure, and amp alone which i just don't know if it is worth it

Hey guys, I have the 5.1 Intermezzo. It's not all that if you want some extra thump. But my question is how come I can hear some voice/music on the sub? I don't know why DVD sound so much better vs playing regular cd? :confuse:
  • nuruc7nuruc7 Member Posts: 98
Yep, $90(subwoofer), $240 (subwoofer enclosure), and $430 (amp) bucks to do it.
  • pacificamanpacificaman Member Posts: 3
has anyone installed or know if it's possible to install an aftermarktet dvd player w/out removing the original cd player? i just got the avatar a600 lcd mirror and backup camera and it has 2 video inputs so i'm wondering if i could add a dvd player since the chrysler one is overpriced... and instructions would be nice if possible

I know that the basic factory radio does not display artist, title etc. from Sirius, but as everything else in life, the higher factory radios do display artist, title, etc.

Those higher Sirius radios are described in the Pacifica owner's manual.............

The advantage of the Sirius system is that the Pacifica is already "prewired," it looks, well, factory installed...........

I'm not positive, but the XM radio may not have that "factory" look, particularly if you have to have that awful little "cable" leading from the roof antenna to the liftgate..........That looks so " add-on"...................
  • nuruc7nuruc7 Member Posts: 98
Steelydan, Hey, Hey Hey,don't say those wordsssssssssss! LOL!

I added a aftermarket Sirius Sportster radio so I could bring it in the house. Plus it only cost me 100 bucks and it is great. I got a mind to use touch-up paint on the cable protector! LOL!

BTW you can get an aftermarket XM radio that can be installed insided your dash and it looks factory as it is designed to work with the factory Radio. It is called I think XM direct!

Hi everyone, just bought an 05 Pacifica touring and absolutely love it! I was wondering about a couple fo things, first I was thinking about buying the chrome pillars to place over the black, does anyone know how easy it is to remove? I know they use the 3M tape, but wasn't quite sure if an attempt to remove the chrome piece will cause damage to the original molding.

Second, I've searched and searched and there seems to be no other accessory sites on the internet that have additional parts for the pacifica besides the factory items, just curious if anyone else had any luck.

    Thanks!
  • my3rdrxmy3rdrx Member Posts: 167
Congratulations on your new PAC -- I'm sure you will enjoy it! To look for accessories, try going to the eBay site under Chrysler Pacifica. You'll be surprised! Good luck!

I just bought a used 2005 with the rear seat DVD - no headphones or remote. Ebay doesn't have any posted and the dealer wants over $100 for each of the headphones alone.

Any ideas? Does Radio Shack sell a compatible headphone? Do I need the remote to be able to listen to the radio while my kids are on the headphones?
  • ingeniousguyingeniousguy Member Posts: 21
Actually, none of the factory radio choices in the Pacifica will display artist and song title information. I also have the 5.1 Intermezzo system and that was my biggest complaint about the satellite system. I hear great music, but never know who the artist is? I can see the channel info (i.e. 80's) and genre, but no artist info.

If anyone is able to see artist and song title info, please let me know. Thanks!

I'm with 'ya fox and all, hate giving the dealer free promo's. NYS law simply states that the plate will not be covered by any material including glass and plastic. I don't think it has anything to do with the logo but rather viewing and lasering the plate. Can't say I blame them, I've seen new covers that you could not read the plate through 10 feet away. I just picked up my 2005 pac on 7/18. Seems good to go, great pricing on these puppies!

Touch up paint on the back of the Pacifica, boy send the photos. I can't wait.............why didn't I think of that...............

ive had a chance to read some of the posts , and chrysler did a number on us with upgrading this system i guess, so am i right in reading the only upgrade you can do with this system for more thump is adding a sub in the back right rear quarterpanel, what size of sub would fit ? is there a limit to the amount of power you can put through it , or can i buy the portable sub box, somthing i could take out if i needed the space , by the way mines a 2004 midnight blue and ive added 20" lexani crystal chrome dubs and man , do i get awesome comments , my baby is SIZZALIN , just like da plate.
  • canadapacguycanadapacguy Member Posts: 3
When you look at the pacifica from the side there's not really alot to look at , its pretty plane jane , has anyone added any modifications to dress it up (more chrome etc) . if any of you have some ideas other than just dubs that are available aftermarket let me know. Also the back tailights has anyone heard if they are available aftermarket in chrome ? thanks :confuse:

I'm buying a 2005 Pacific Touring this week with 17" wheels. I've found a deal on a set of chrome 19" wheels and tires. Given the diameters are about 5" different, I assume I'll have to adjust the speedo gear for correct readout. Does anyone know if this can be done by reprogramming the car or must it be a physical speedo gear change?
  • kcmillerkcmiller Member Posts: 2
I don't know exactly what your setup is, but a 17" rim has a 17 inch diameter (a little bigger at the "lip", maybe 18"). So you would really be dealing with a two inch difference. But, typically when you get a larger rim/wheel you'll make up the difference in diameter with a lower profile tire. That way the overall diameter of the wheel and tire isn't much different than stock. Plus, you really don't have much more than that to work with before running into fitment problems with the wheel well and suspension. If you're still not too sure, I suggest you ask a tire shop to help you out.
  • canadapacguycanadapacguy Member Posts: 3
with my 20's i just matched up the overall wheel diameter which isn't 100% worked out to be like 99.6 %, the only issue i have now is while i have these on all summer long my computer readout tells me to check tire inflation, would anyone know how to work around that , is it possible to disconnect the tire sensors?
  • hutchinjhutchinj Member Posts: 6
I know a 19" rim is 2" bigger than a 17" rim (even I can figure that out) but my concern is the overall TIRE diameter when mounted.

According to Tire Rack, the stock 235-65R17's are 29.1" in diameter. The optional 235-55R19's are 24.1" in diameter... so the 19" setup is 5" LESS. With that much difference, there is bound to be a speedo error if you don't change the gears, speed sensor, or whatever.

I need to add cross rails to my pacifica, and I'm looking at a set of Saris rails (which are removable but look a little sketchy), the standard cross rails and the sport utility cross rails.

Has anyone installed either the standard or sport rails? Do they sit in a fixed location or can you place them anywhere along the side rails? are they easy to put on? Can you take them off easily?

    Is there another, better option?

Any suggestions or feedback would be great.
  • my3rdrxmy3rdrx Member Posts: 167
I have installed a set of OEM roof cross rails and they can be moved back and forth along the fixed rails up to a certain point. However, in order to take them off, you must remove four screws on one side of the fixed rails -- it's not that difficult, just bothersome!
  • axr6axr6 Member Posts: 42
I installed a set of Thule racks on the existing side rails. 4 mounts bolt on to the side rails and the cross bars, with their towers, simply snap in and out of it very easily and quickly. It is a pushbotton latch/unlatch.

Having done that I'am very concerned that those OEM flexi side rails are not strong enough to carry my intended loads (kayaks). For heavier or bulky loads the best solution is to purchase a set of genetic new rails from a rack shop and install them onto the roof, just inside of the existing rails. Those racks are far stronger. A number of my friends are using them on various vehicles with no record of failure.

I can move the crossboars some but the movement is limited by the length of those flexi rails. I would prefere to be able to have the rack bars at least a foot more forward so that I could open the rear hatch without interference from the boats.

in order to upgrade the speakers? My husband doesn't want to mess them up. Hoping it is an easy process.

    Thanks!
  • chowman1chowman1 Member Posts: 3
Be Careful when installing. Once you put em on they don't come off easy. Getting the piller pieces in the correct position the first time is important. As for additional add on items try ebay (Chrysler Pacifica) or Mopar (factory products) at both sites you will find some quality items. :surprise:
  • chowman1chowman1 Member Posts: 3
:surprise: Recently purchased a LeBra on Ebay and am very satisfied. Live in FL where we have to deal with "love bugs" which can seriously damage paint. Not that easy to install and one need patients in doing it. Does the job that the deflector does not. You need to be aware that at least twice per year you will need to partially remove it to wash underneath it. Stops the stones etc. My last five cars have had bras.
  • chowman1chowman1 Member Posts: 3
To do the install on rear mudflaps you will need to remove the rear wheels! That's the correct way to do it. I've got both front and rear and they do a fine job. Make sure you also get the color match ones i.e Black of Grey. :surprise:
  • steelydan0613steelydan0613 Member Posts: 144
I also installed the mudflaps front and rear, you do have to remove the rear wheels, It's not hard to get the jack out and practice using it. I would recommend using a set of jackstands it's safer than the jack alone. They are relatively inexpensive ($20 or less) at an auto parts store.

I found that if you put them in the console 1 headphone with the ear speakers down 0^0 and one in the opposit way 0v0 (ear speakers up) they fit perfectly with plenty of room for the remote.

    good luck

I get my 2005 Pacifica Touring 10/1 and am looking into the same Saris system, I found they advise the 59in bars # 902 with the #64 clips. Have you set your up yet?

We have an early 2004 (July 2003) model Pac, and we were wondering if anybody knows of a way to hook up a backup camera to the onboard navigation screen in the dash? We're trying to see if it's feasible to have the navigation screen function like the ones installed on Acura MDX.

I recently purchased an 05 Pac with the DVD changer/tv option and did not get a remote or the wireless headphones. I was wondering if it would be worth it to purchase these items. Also, I was wondering if the wireless headphones automatically allow the DVD player to play without me having to listen to the movie in all of the speakers?
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,740
yes, the headphones allow those users to listen to the movie while everyone else without the headphones can listen to the stereo.

Did you buy the car used? Because a new one should have come with the headphones and remote.

    '11 GMC Sierra 1500; '98 Alfa 156 2.0TS; '08 Maser QP; '67 Coronet R/T; '13 Fiat 500c; '20 S90 T6; '22 MB Sprinter 2500 4x4 diesel; '97 Suzuki R Wagon; '96 Opel Astra; '11 Mini Cooper S

  • dimer20dimer20 Member Posts: 2
I did purchase it used. I am hoping that purchasing a set of headphones and a remote will allow the sound to travel only through the headphones and not the speakers (when headphones are turned on of course!)
  • pscdocpscdoc Member Posts: 93
Yes, its possible, even to watch dvd/tv if you like. But you will have to purchase a modulator (pretty pricey) to get this function. It's been done (more detailed infor on another pacifica site). Take it to a good audio/video retail shop and you can get more info. Good luck.
