What type of fuel has everyone been using in their RX330?
    Premium....midgrade....regular unleaded?
Have you notice any performance difference?
Any increase or decrease in MPG?
    Thanks in advance.....

Thanks so much for the information. This will help me tremendously in my negotiating.

I did have one more question. What if they ask me up front if I have a trade and I say no. How do they usually react if I then bring up the trade later?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello Steve0729,

Congratulations of such a fantastic deal. Enjoy.

Can you provide us the details of the dealership where you got your RX? Can you email it to my email address in my profile.
    Thanks

That was a great deal. In the dealership that I'm looking at there is a pre-owned RX 330 with about 16000 miles. How much price difference should I expect between the used and a new car? Any help would be great.

Where did you purchase your car. Thanks.

Hi! I have an appointment tomorrow morning at a dealership in NJ. Can you tell me where you got that deal? You can email it to my email address on file. $38,800 is way under the one quote that I got of $39,900. Nice job!

    Thanks!

    Congratulations on your awesome deal...

Would you please email me the dealership and salesperson where you got your deal. I am in the market for a RX330 AWD and I am willing to travel for a deal.

Please email to the mail address in my profile.

    Thanks.

I'm (finally!) replacing my '88 cadillac sedan de ville and have decided on an RX330 (after driving a Volvo XC90, MDX and 4runner.)

I want the following options (in Texas all I can get is fwd)
System/Mark Levinson® Package with Navigation System includes: compass and backup camera, High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps, Power rear door, Roof rack with rails
    - Lexus DVD Rear-Seat Entertainment System (RSES)
    - Two-level heated front seats (includes rain-sensing variable intermittent wipers and headlamp washers)
    - 18-in aluminum alloy wheels (235/55VR18 and full-size spare)
    - Tow-prep package - Wheel locks - Cargo mat

Total MSRP** $45,708.00. I'd like to purchase the car for 10% off MSRP, get at least 1k for trade in and an extra set of mats for the car...so drive out would be @40k+ttl. Comments? Is this doable?

The caddy has been meticulously maintained (165k miles)...we also have an 84zx turbo we're keeping - both mechanics recommended the lexus over any other suv.

They usually do not ask if you have a trade in but if they do just tell them i haven't decided yet because I do not need to sell my current car. They won't know and then when you get the price you want tell them you have reconsidered and in your down payment you will be using your current car as a trade in. Once they put your selling price of the vehicle in writing you can alter the down payment anyway you choose. It is just whether or not you are wiling to accept what they want to give you as trade in. They most likely will low ball your trade in because you got the sale price of the new car down, you could always leave a refundable deposit with them, ask them to hold the car for about 3 weeks and try and sell your old car on your own. Good luck I ended up taking a low price for my trade in because I was tired of waiting to sell my car on my own but I ended up with another dealer and paid 1700 less than I previously posted. I pick up my new truck on Thursday. $38,891

did you get premium sound/dvd? Did you wait for a specific color? I've been told by several that the model I'm looking for is hard to find because they didn't make as many w/premium sound and entertainment packages as the others. Did you price include the trade in.

I am planning to buy a 2004 RX330 FWD, Premium Pkg, 18" Aluminum Wheels, Power Rear Door, Rain-Sensing Wipers, Towing Pkg, Leather & Wood Steering Wheel & Shift Knob, Cargo Mat and Wheel Locks. MSRP $39,483, Invoice $34,676, The best internet offer is $36,315 from a Houston area dealer. While visiting another dealership, I mentioned the looming $7,000 depreciation. One would have thought I was attempting to adopt the car, and found to be an unfit parent for the reference. Just wondering about other experiences in the Texas market. Any comments on the $36, 315 internet deal? What is a reasonable price? Also, what is a reasonable price for 2004 RX330 w/Premium Plus Package? Thanks!

    arezzo,

The RX330 is a high demand product, you are not going to get the car for invoice or close to invoice even at the end of the model year.

It appears that Texas is a tough market. I suggest that you show your Texas dealer the Carsdirect price for Los Angeles (91311 zipcode). I just checked, and for a 2004 RX330 with the Premium Plus package, the MSRP is $39,340. Invoice is $35,033. CarsDirect price is $34,833. If the Texas dealer does not match the price, then I would work with CarsDirect or a Los Angeles dealer. Also, JMLexus in Margate, FL claims to be the world's largest Lexus dealer. I wonder if they would match the Los Angeles price?

I paid $35,750 day before yesterday, with the same options (FWD, Premium Pkg, tow package, wheel locks and mats, 18" Wheels, Power Rear door, Rain sensing wipers, Leather & wood steering wheel)with a MSRP of $39,483. The dealer wouldn't budge, and it took a lot of haggling to get it that low. First offer was over $2,000 over invoice. Second was $1000 over, third was $750. Invoice included holdback and wholesale reserve, and was slightly higher for this area because of advertising they tack on. Real dealer profit was probably closer to $1500 more or less including the hidden costs. I probably could have gotten a better deal if I wanted to go a long way to get it. But since there are only two dealers in the state, the cost to go out of state probably isn't worth it.

Love the car. Defect free, and typical Toyota build quality.
  • mldj98mldj98 Member Posts: 378
I just bought the same exact vehicle you did and paid $35,100.00 plus tax and tag. No dealer fees!
We bought ours in Ft Myers, FL....we live in Tampa, Fl which made it about 100 mile trip and by doing this we saved big $$$$. Most dealerships around here are advertising price with that package on it for around $35,900.00. So based on your location I would say you got a pretty good deal. Enjoy your "LEXUS"!

The price you paid was just about the invoice price for mine. Regional prices vary, and our area the invoice prices are a bit higher than in Florida. When there are only two dealears in the entire state, it's a bit hard to get them down so low. My actual cost was about $625 over their stated invoice cost (which included the holdback and wholesale reserve).
  • arezzoarezzo Member Posts: 6
Jonesok1, what state do you live in? Also, where do you find the holdback, wholesale reserve, etc. information?

    Thanks.

I was successful negotiating a lease deal with Lexus of Lansing (Michigan)on a Lexus RX330 with a Premium Package Plus Options (MSRP $41,208) for $37,900. The local Lexus dealership in Grand Rapid refused to go lower than $38,495. The Grand Rapids dealership was very pleasant to work with but wanted proof of my deal with Lansing. Since my dealings with Lansing were done over the phone I could not provide the proof. Because Lansing stepped up to the plate and gave me best deal (without any negotiation) I felt compelled to sign with them. The Grand Rapids dealership could have had my business but would not make the commitment.

    I did it!
I got a crystal white RX 330 with ivory interior with MSRP of $40538 for $36,149 which is $100 above invoice. I am not sure why the CA market is selling a RX below invoice and none of the dealers in atlanta were willing to sell below. So I got the deal done! Thanks to all!

Just purchased RX330 AWD from Colorado dealer with these options:
    Premium Pkg Plus
    Towing Package
    Multi State Heated Front Seats
    Navigation System
    Cargo Mat and Wheel Locks

for $39,800 (no dealer handling) + tax

Okla. The dealer gave me a copy of it. You're dealer will too, if you insist on it. They pretty much give up on the idea you don't know what the car cost since it's available here (but Edmund's price doesn't include these fees, and they do vary from region to region), and will give you a copy if you ask.

Finally - Purchased my Lexus for 10% off MSRP - threw in an extra set of mats and the salesman purchased my 16 year old caddy for 1k cash...himself. Price 1.3k less than anyone else in the Houston area was willing to sell it for and he got the car from Shreveport for me.
  • arezzoarezzo Member Posts: 6
Where did you buy your RX330 in Houston?

I would like to speak with you, as I am near Clear Lake Lexus, too. I'm not certain how to get my phone number to you without going public.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks,

    Can anyone help?

One or both of you may make your email address visible in your user profile. (I don't recommend displaying your email address in a message board posting.)

Use the "Town Hall Profile" link at the top of the left column on this page to make the changes.

Thanks tidester...do you think I got a good deal? I would have thought that it would have been easier to deal than it was. When we bought a jag vp in July 2000, we told the dealer that we wanted to drive out at xx = which I think was at list incl ttl. Only extra thing we paid for was the clearcoat - $500 and included 4 details over 4 years...a no brainer.
  • tidestertidester Member Posts: 10,059
10% off MSRP does sound good but it depends on a lot of factors including options and location. Take a look at our TMV new car prices, used car pricing, used car values at Edmunds and continue to monitor the prices paid by others here for comparable options and location.

Most of all, enjoy your new RX 330!

I checked the tmv and the price I paid was 1.4k less (not including the extra set of mats and taking my 16 year old car off my hands (which incidently, the whole family misses).

Arezzo - I'd love to help you out...

With the way car sales are right now, most 2004 cars are selling way below invoice...even the RX330 can be had at invoice if you are willing to walk away...

I bought a 2004 RX 330 with the premium plus package and Navigation. It came with 18" whhels, rain sensing wipersw, rear mat and headlight washers, painted pin stripes for $36,750 plus make ready of $400 and tax. I've got 800 miles on it now and it is head and shoulders better than my 2001 RX with nav. I bought it from Lexus of Palm Beach.
  • silvereagle2silvereagle2 Member Posts: 23
I forgot to mention the MSRP on my RX 330 was $42,888
  • cooljc74cooljc74 Member Posts: 23
    Bill1352,

Well, I am not certain but it would cost between $500 to $1000 I heard. But I guess a dealer in CA would have to arrage that for you. But check out the post by silvereagle above. Lexus of Palm Beach could give a better deal.

    Hope this helps!

On the RX 330 general town hall, I had asked how individuals compare the 330 with the 300. Post #321
says the 330 is far superior-could you be more specific as I also own a 2001 and am debating to trade. I have herd it seems, bigger, rear vision not as good, turning radius much better, center constole not as good. Please feel freet o respond to me e mail , here if Edmunds says it is ok as this is not about pricing, or the general 330 town hall.

    Anxious to hear your comments
    Thanks.

we live in dallas and got a quote for the 2004 fwd rx330 with the navigation system, and i believe the premium plus package (heated seats, xenon headlights, back door that opens automatically, wood trim, alloy wheels, etc.)for $38,500. the msrp is $42,370. the problem is i can't figure out what the invoice is because the way that the websites have it is not the way lexus prices it out. is this a good deal? we also got a quote for the base model that has the premium plus package (or the premium pakage with extras, can't quite figure it out) without the heated seats and xenon lights (basically power rear door leather interior, wood trim, alloy wheels)for $35,600. the msrp is $39483. is that a good deal? is the navigation system and camera worth the extra $$?
  • windy6windy6 Member Posts: 57
Sounds like the Dallas dealers are starting to be more aggressive in their pricing. The second one sounds like ours with maybe one more item (or maybe a $240 price increase since February). That's a premium package, at $3883 discount. The premium plus package at a $3870 discount is much more profitable for the dealer.
I couldn't justify the extra expense for the heated seats on ours and I usually drive to Colorado for a couple of weeks of skiing. And I don't really notice much improvement with the Xenon headlights on our other car over what the Lexus does. A lot depends on how much night driving you do on interstate highways away from the city. In the city areas with the roadside lights they don't add much, on the twisty roads we have in the hill country they don't help at all!
I guess it just boils down to which options you like better, but they should be able to discount the premium plus package by about another $1200-$1500 I would think.

    Good luck
  • cooljc74cooljc74 Member Posts: 23
Navigation pkg invoice should be around $38000.
Premium pkg invoice should be around $35200.
    Good luck!
  • silvereagle2silvereagle2 Member Posts: 23
I bought a 330 4 weeks ago with the premium pakge and nav system. It is next to impossible to buy one without 18" wheels, wheel locks, heated seat and headlight washers, rear carpet-mine came with an MSRP of $42,788 and I paid $36,850.
  • briegelbriegel Member Posts: 139
That deal sounds extremely good! Where is the dealer you got it from?
  • rc01rc01 Member Posts: 1
silvereagle2..Can you talk about your purchase experience at PB Lexus? Was everything delivered as promised and hassle free? Would you recommend them? What made you finally decide to buy from them? Was it price alone or that they had the car you wanted? Did you receive quotes from other FL dealers? I'm in Orlando and I am looking for an RX330 with navi and levinson package. PB Lexus call me today that they have one with those options listed at $45708. What would be a good price for that one?

If anyone else have had a similar purchase, please advise.

    Thanks for everyone's help.

Help!! Dealer has offered to sell me a 2005 RX330 with Premium Plus package for $39,300 plus tax or a 2004 RX330 with Premium Plus package for $37,300 plus tax. My questions are: (1) are these prices competitive (given that it is now August 27, 2004 and we are at the end of the 2004 model year and at the beginning of the 2005 model year)?; (2) what kinds of prices are the rest of you being offered for the 2005 RX330's with the Premium Plus package?; and, (3) should I buy the 2005 or the 2004 under these circumstances? Thanks in advance.
