I plan to purchase a 2004 RX330 with Premium Plus Package, and got a price quote for $37,000 from a dealer in NJ. Is this a good deal? Am I able to get an invoice price since 2005 model has come out?
  • eric2eric2 Member Posts: 14
I think $39500 is a good price(out the door) for 2005 without nav, just about $500 over the invoice. The deal is more tough for 2005 with nav, I only can get about $800 above the invoice now.
  • eric2eric2 Member Posts: 14
The cardirect price for 2005 rx330 seems not correct, from Lexus.com, premium plus should include the six-disc CD auto-changer, but in cardirect.com it becomes an option cost $500
  • gardencargardencar Member Posts: 293
Seems to me $800 over invoice for an '05 is a terrific deal. You should jump on it. Where are you located and what dealership/s are quoting you that price?
  • 4424jm4424jm Member Posts: 25
Please let me know where you can get this deal. I will go there tomorrow.

I recently purchased a 2004 RX 330 for 38,000. MSRP on the vehicle was 41,938 according to the sticker. Dealer gave me conflicting values for the invoice price.

Did I get a fair deal?

Congrats to your great deal! Would you mind letting me know where you got your 2005 rx from? I am in LA area and looking to buy one for my wife, too. Thanks.

2004 RX 330 for 38,000. MSRP on the vehicle was 41,938, I think is a fair deal. I heard the price is lowest in California, maybe too competitive, just so many dealers in LA, within 40 miles from my home, there are more than 10 dealers.
  • eric2eric2 Member Posts: 14
Hi suver, I don't mind to share the info of my deal, please leave me your email.

Hi eric2, Thanks for sharing. I am temporarily showing my email on my profile. Please send your deal info to that address. Thanks again.

I agree with eric2. Depending on your area, sounds like you got a good deal. There is so much competition in CA. No use in second guessing yourself now.
    Just enjoy your car, carrvette.

eric2, congratulations on getting a fantastic deal. This shows what a purchaser who has done his homework can do. Would you mind posting a list of other options you may have gotten in your '05 FWD w/NAV? I think it will help prospective purchasers immmensely. Thanks for sharing.

Please share the name of your dealership with us - I'm sure many shoppers would benefit from having the name of a good dealership. You can't post the salesperson's name or contact info, but we like seeing dealership recommendations.

Thanks for the replys. Lexus also offers $750 rebates for the purchase of a new Lexus for recent college grads (within 2 yrs). The dealer had no idea this was available.

I purchased my car at an Annapolis, MD dealership.

i "ordered' my rx330 w/ nav fwd over 2 weeks ago! i have been getting a bunch of excuses about there being a shortage of dock workers in long beach and they can't get the cars off the boat.

has anyone else been told this or am i getting a line?

i'm currently working with longo and they claim to have special treatment down at the docks.

    Hi eric2-

Well, our salesman backed out on the price when we arrived. He wanted us to get the lojack, and some kind of paint protection included to get the price. Came to $1700 bucks extra. So we walked. But it so happens we will be down in LA for a week shortly. Would you be willing to share the dealer's name where you made your purchase or any other info? Would love to drive a new Lexus home!!I will leave my email address showing for a day or so.

    Thanks very much.

We are looking at buying an 2005 RX330 in the next couple days. We are in N. Dallas but would be willing to drive for a good deal. Can you please tell me which Houston dealership you dealt with. Thanks!
  • dogsambamdogsambam Member Posts: 76
We are really close to buying a RX AWD. We can buy a 2004 for invoice or a little over invoice. A 2005 will cost us between 1500 and 2500 over invoice. We intend on keeping the car for the next 3-4 years. Which is a better decision?
  • davo418davo418 Member Posts: 5
Ended up closing deal with Prestige in Ramsey, NJ for 2005 RX 330 AWD premium plus w/ NAV (plus 18'wheels, mats etc) for $40,750. Delivery by end of month.

Just wanted to thank davo418 for posting your pricing on the 2005 RX330. I took your information and got the exact same package at Ray Catena Lexus in NJ for $40,600. They said Prestige Lexus was a big competitors of theirs and wanted to give me a better price. I'll be picking up the car on Monday.

Hi guys after almost 5 months of some serious decision making and cuts for different cars, i've bought a lexus rx330. Im extremely happy with my decision. I got a 2004 Lexus rx330 for 37700 in CT with 18 inch wheels , premium plus package, hid headlights, and all season floor mats, 6 disc in dash cd changer, with a silver exterior and black interior. My buying experience was excellent and the salesmen whent directly to the lowest price. But i do need some advice about a product the dealer is opffering called simonize, what they apperently do is coat the interior and exterior with teflon, is this safe??? Especially since most of my family has asthma. If any body else "simonized" their car, could u tell me if there is a difference in the feel of the leather or smell or looks of the car??? e0mail me at historyproject12345@yahoo.com
    Your help is appreciated.
btw, thanks edmunds, u guys seriously helped me in narrowing down my options.

If you are only keeping the car for 3-4 years, I would get the '05 if the price difference is closer to $1500. You should be more than able to make up the price difference in increased resale value when you sell the '05, to say nothing of the improvements it is sure to have.

If the price difference is closer to or more than $2500, then it is a toss up. Seems to me you should be able to get the '04 for at or below invoice. Hope this helps.

    e0mail me at xxxxx@yyyyy.zzz

First, I advise against posting your email address in a public message - the email address harvesters love this stuff.

Second, it kind of defeats the purpose of a message board if we're all corresponding by email.

And, third, I'm sure others would like to know the answer too and emailed replies would deprive us all of the shared knowledge.

Come back and visit us - it's more likely someone will bother to provide the information if they know you're a participant! :-)

There were some posts about 9 or 10 months ago about good pricing in the metroplex. I emailed and phoned the ones they listed as well as the Houston, San Antone and Austin dealers. We ended up buying in Austin (same distance as San Antone for us) because they matched every deal we told them about.

This is the first "new" car either of us has ever owned (we're in our late 50s) and the dealer experience and car have both been wonderful.

I am looking in the s.f. bay area for exactly the same 2005. msrp $42583 , have a price of $38950 by internet from a dealer 2 miles from my house. Anybody know of a better deal in s.f. bay area.
  • kittylover1kittylover1 Member Posts: 6
Hey Windy, Thanks! I am in the Dallas area & ended up calling 6 difft dealers in & out of the area. Was SO pleasantly surprised with how they were all so willing to do a deal over the phone on a brand new 2005 RX (thought they might be more willing on the '04's but that wasnt the case), ended up getting one the best price at Park Place Plano dealership. Must say that all the sales mgrs I spoke to at all the dealerships were absolutely straight forward & made the buying experience very easy. Bought the car over the phone in less than 1.5 hrs.

Hey Breakmaster, wanted to let you know that the we bought our 1st RX when we were living in the San Diego area from Lexus of Mission Viejo. They were wonderful to deal with!!! A 2hr drive saved us $4k!! Spoke with the sales mgr who did the deal over the phone (following up with a fax of what we agreed to), had the car ready for us to test drive when we got there & a sales person ready to help us close the deal if the car met our approval which it did. Had called around to Longo, Santa Monica,Carlsbad, Kearny Mesa none gave us as good of a deal or were as great to deal with as Mission Viejo! Good Luck!!

    kittylover1!

Would you be willing to share the deal you got at the Park Place Lexus on 2005 RX330? I've been there few times already trying to get some deal on 2004, but they seem almost sold out, and trying to sell the demo ones little over invoice. I rather get 2005 with the color I want, and plan to stop by there on Monday, possibly pick one up if the deal is sweet enough.

    Thanks in advance...

Eric2 and 4424jm, how much over invoice is your quote? I'm in the bay area too and I'm looking for a FWD, Premium Plus and navigation. Where did your quotes come from? Have you tried Costco? I checked the price on CarsDirect and their guaranteed price is at MSRP. If I would have acted faster I could have picked up an '04 RX with the same options for invoice.

I too am in San Diego and in discussions for a 2005 FWD RX330 virtually maxed out, with the GPS and DVD entertainment system, upgraded sound, etc. I have been quoted a "special Internet price" (I used the build your Lexus tool on lexus.com) of $43,989 + tax & lic. fees. I am interested in your impressions as to whether this is a fair price or whether I should attempt to negotiate or speak with other dealers.
  • eric2eric2 Member Posts: 14
I have spent about 3 weeks in the research in pricing of my 2005 rx fwd, got the internet quote from all the dealers in Los Angeles and orange county, but I have never got a good price quote from any of them. All the quote they gave me are similar, arround $1200-$1500 above the invoice, and they seem not willing to negoiate the price in email(I think they may afraid I will print out the quote then go to the dearest dealer), u got to pick up the phone to call them, speak with the salesman to get good deal.
  • minyiminyi Member Posts: 27
Did anyone buy 2005 RX from Park Place or Sewell Lexus recently? I am trying to get some idea how much and how hard I need to push before I go there and negotiate. See like the situation is much better in CA. DFW seems to be tough market to get deals on RX330. Only 3 delaerships in the whole DFW area. At least 2 of them sold out on 2004s, and not much 2005 in stock. So far, few visits did not produce any significant deal to bite on.

    I would appreciate anyone's input.

Please be patient - you're waiting for someone who a) has purchased a specific vehicle, and b) lives in a specific area - it might take more than 10 hours!

    :)

Update. Just got back from Park Place Lexus, and the price we finally agreed upon was $37,500 on 2005 RX330 with "Premium Plus Package with Additional Options", which follows.

    $4,658.00
Premium Plus Package with Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) with High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps, Roof rails/roof rack. Also includes: Leather-trimmed interior, Power tilt-and-telescopic steering column with memory, Illuminated entry system and Power tilt-and-slide moonroof with one-touch open/close and sliding sunshade.
    Additional Options:
      - Two-level heated front seats (includes rain-sensing variable intermittent wipers and headlamp washers)
      - 18-in alloy wheels (235/55VR18 and full-size spare)
      - Towing package
      - Six-disc CD changer
      - Preferred Accessory Package (includes cargo mat and wheel locks)

It's roughly $1,500 over invoice, and the car will be delivered on coming Monday.

I think it is pretty decent deal as long as I watch for some add-on fee like advertising...etc, yet please feel free to comment on the deal. The papers are not signed yet since I haven't got the final "approval" from my wife on the color. No Silver with black available any time soon, which was what we wanted. Looking at White or Bamboo with ivory.

    Thanks...

    FWD.
  • kittylover1kittylover1 Member Posts: 6
Hey Minyi sorry it took me a while to get bk to you..too much goin on at once. We got the FWD with exactly what you got except the high density lite, we had read from old threads that people didnt notice much difference & my husband said why pay for an additional thing that will be more costly to replace. We pd $36820 & car will be here in a few days. Very exciting, Park Place in Plano was great to work with, we were in & out in about 1 hr, no high pressure to get any "extras". Sounds like you got a great deal too! Enjoy the car, see ya on Preston Rd!

eric2: would you tell me the name of the dealer
and any contact you have. I'd be happy to get
    what you got.
    thanks
  • minyiminyi Member Posts: 27
Thanks Kittylover1. I just picked one from Sewell, and got home. Guess my price was pretty inline with yours. I got the one with the options I posted earlier for $37,500. Since I got the HID ($500 option by itself), and free tinr ($300), it comes about the same as what you paid I guess. I did liked the Silver with Black, but ended up getting the White with Ivory.

I still feel sorry for the sales person in Park Place. He invested good deal of time and effort, and came up with the pretty competitive deal, but my wife's cousin knew the guy in Sewell, and he beat the deal at the last minute.

For the buying experience-wise, I would recommend both place. Even though there were some hassle working on the price, it was my best car buying experience. I bought Honda, Mercury and Toyota before, but they simply don't cut it.

This was an alternative from 05 Odyssey, and so far, we love it, and my kids love it, and begging us to pick them from school with it. Man... we live only one block from their school. :)
