I am looking for an RX350 but am not in a hurry. Looking to upgrade from my '03 Accord. Just wondering if anyone is aware of how Lexus times its model releases, is the 2008 RX350 expected some time soon?
Looking at the older posts about '07 RX350, it seems like it was released some time around Mar/Apr this year. So if the '08 model is due in Mar/Apr 2007, is it fair to expect the '07 RX350 to be discounted heavily over the next couple of months?
My preferred options:
RX350 AWD
+ Premium package
+ Navigation
Also, is there anybody here who has experience dealing with the Peterson Lexus in Boise?
Thanks.

I am also in the same situation. How did you get this resolved?
Thanks...
2007 Lexus RX350 FWD Navigation Package with leather trim interior, wood & leather steering wheel & shift knob, power tilt/telescoping steering wheel with memory, heated 10-Way Power front seats, rain sensing wipers, One-Touch open/close moonroof, 6-disc in-dash CD changer, Generation 5 Navigation System with Bluetooth, Voice-Activation, Compass and Rear Back-Up Camera, high-intensity discharge headlamps with adaptive front lighting system, roof rails and rack, Illuminated Entry system, cargo mat & wheel locks, and 18" Aluminum Alloy wheels.
It has an MSRP of $44,146
for $37700 license, a $8.75 California tire fee, and a $45 documentation fee
Is this a good deal, please advise?
I paid $37,500 plus registration, tire fee and doc fee in So Cal.
Bottom line pricing in SoCal seems to be around $37,500 for the car with MSRP $44146. I couldn't get $37000 but $37,400 was doable but I chose to stay with my local dealer and settled on $37500 since that's the lowest price others were getting.
Good luck
this is my first SUV purchase. I got 31.2K for T6 base model, 5seater, and 35.5K for LX350. Can you let me know which one will have a better resale value, and overall value, interms of performance and long maintenance. i have been having difficulty to decide between these two.
thx for your help.
Looks like mine (AWD with NAV) is the best selling RX350 config in the Bay Area, while So. Cal mostly sells FWD's.
I don't see a reason not to buy from Lexus dealers in other states (especially in Cal), where competition is high. Shipping your auto is easy and not that expensive. There are plenty of auto shippers hungry for your business out there - check out http://www.transportreviews.com/ for reviews/prices. I'm sure you can find a dependable auto shipper for $1000 or less from CA to anywhere in mainland USA. Or you can drive the car back home yourself.
This is my second RX and both of them I purchased from CA while living in WA. Will do that again.
Thank a lot to people on these forums, especially charles12 and jacks2!
Send me personal email if you need more specific info.

glad to hear you did it and saved a lot of money. I think it is not only money saving but also a better experience.
The rust protection underneath the car covers part of the area but not all such as the gas tank - not covered, which is different from my Honda car. Do all Lexus cars like this OR only those shipped to CA?

Thank you
Thanks
If you need any more info, let me know.
Thanks,
Vipul.
The whole transaction was smooth and less expensive than buying from one of the Northwest dealers. It could all (negotiated purchase including shipping) be done directly with the California dealer also, which I have since talked to Lexus of Riverside about also. Some of the other Southern California dealers that have been mention in these forums will probably do the same thing.
Good luck...hope you will share your experience with us!
I already signed the paperwork for the color I was looking for with Lexus Carlsbad for 39,396 and couldn't back out of it. I am an out of state customer(from Minnesota) shopping for the best prices and my friend and I bought one RX350 each. They just provided the All Weather mats which are retailing for 137.50 upon a little renegotiation free of cost which I don't think is a big deal anyway.
Anyone else who is looking for a Lexus, I would advise you to shop arnd in South California before you buy one to grab the best deal.
Being out of state customer, I had to pay only the Doc fee (45.00), tire fee (8.50) and a temp permit (15.00) which is altogether 68.50.
I was told that I just need to pay the TTL here in Minnesota once I get the vehicle shipped. I am expecting my car sometime in first week of January.
I got a quote for 610 dollars for shipping from CA to MN (Terminal to Terminal). Dealer is dropping off the vehicle at the Auto shipper's terminal in Sandiego.
Hope my experience would help other Out of State buyers like me and if anyone has any questions, please email me if I can be of any further assistance.
Thanks,
Vipul.
See my earlier post #3035 in this discussion. I live in Redmond, WA and I bought my RX350 a week ago in the Bay Area (No. Cal) at $800 below the invoice price. I picked up the car myself and drove it all the way back to WA (12 hours). You can also ship you car using any auto shipper - their delivery time and prices vary but you should be able to ship the car door-to-door for $600 or so and get it in a week.
If you drive the car yourself, you pay the CA tax (8.25%) at the CA dealership and then the tax difference in WA, when you register your car with the local DMV.
I negotiated with Lexus of Bellevue and Seattle and none of them came even close to what I was going to pay for the car. The best quote I got from them was about $1200 over the invoice. The salesman at LoB was full of sh.. - he lied in my face (I was able to verify that on the spot).
I also emailed Lexus of Spokane, Lexus of Portland, Lexus of Eugene, Lexus of Boise. None of them came up with a reasonable quote. On the contrary, almost all of the Lexus dealerships in So. and No. Cal. promptly sent me quotes well below the invoice.
I don't see a reason why one should pay an extra grand or two to the local dealer unless you are really bonded with them or you don't care much about the money. For RX350 AWD, I recommend dealers in No. Cal. (Putnam, Stevens Creek, Magnusson) for RX350 FWD I recommend Lexus dealers in So. Cal. (Longo, Westminter, Mission Viejo).

Thanks
I felt that I got a great deal, although at the time, I didn't want the DVD (2 kids...I thought, lots of begging/fighting?)and didn't really want to pay the extra. But the Mark Levinson won out and is worth it. The rear seats recline and the wireless headsets are a dream. My husband and I can sit in the front, listen to our music and the kids are happy as clams on long trips.
Thanks
I am also planning to buy from Southern Ca and please provide me the details about the Auto shippers and contact information. How did u select the Auto shipper and got your quote?
Thanks.
If it is costing more for Door to Door, look for a dealer who would drop the vehicle free to the terminal. Most of the dealers drop the vehicle free of cost within a radius of 50 miles.
Hope this info helps you. Please share your experience if possible.
Thanks.
Your mail response to Zozk mentioned some SO. Cal dealers are offering $800 below the invoice price. I checked the Edmunds RX350 (no options) invoice price with destination charge is $33814.00. So I maybe pay around $33100.00. Is that right?
I live in Dallas. If I have someone to drive new car for me to Dallas, can I pay the Texas tax (6.00%) instead of CAL tax? Thanks. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I'm not sure on the rules for delivery out of state, but you will probably have to have the car actually shipped to you, to avoid the CA sales tax (or at least shipped out of California. I don't think you could just pay someone to pick it up at the dealer and drive it to you.
I've heard of salespeople driving new cars to Nevada to complete delivery. Not sure if a dealer in California will help you with that or not.

Lexus of Norwood gave me best offer 40700. (MSRP 45700)
seems easier to negotiate around end of month.
So. Cal Lexus dealers can give you an even greater discounts on RX FWD (I've seen people here reporting $1200 off of the invoice price at Longo and Mission Viejo on FWDs), since this is much more popular config over there than the AWD. On the contrary, No. Cal dealers sell more AWDs than FWDs so expect better discounts on AWDs there.
The sales tax rule is: If you ship your car to your home state then you only pay the sales tax in your home state after the car is delivered (or no tax at all, in case of Oregon, for example, since they don't have a sales tax). If you choose to drive the car (or someone else wiil drive it for you), then you have to pay 8.25% CA tax when you pick up the car at the dealership. In you home state, you'll then pay the difference on the sales tax. So, I paid an extra 0.85% sales tax in WA since our local sales tax is slightly higher than in CA (9.1% compared to 8.25%). The people at the DMV know all that stuff - you just need to show them your sales contract (make sure it show the amount of tax you paid in CA). Anyway, you won't be taxed twice but you'll eventually pay a cumulative tax at the rate of the sales tax in your home state.
When you pick up the car to drive it to a different state the dealership will give you a one-way transit permit for the car (it costs about $16) that they wiil stick on the windshield.

thanks for your detailed information. that will encourage me to buy this car for my wife instead of buying FJ Crusier for me.

You can buy from a California dealer, but you have to take delivery out of state, if you want to avoid California sales tax.

1. New 2007 AWD, Prem Plus package for $39,000
2. Used 2007 AWD, 5500 miles, Nav, Prem Plus for $39,990
3. Used 2004 AWD, Prem Plus, 17,000 miles for $29,000
I have a car that I want to trade in on the deal.
Thoughts?
Great salesman, no BS, quick and painless experience. In Northeast, options are pretty limited, especially this late in the promotion. So only Prem Plus - Luxury Value Edition, packaged with heated front seats, rain sensing wipers, headlamp washers, 18in alloy wheels with full size spare, towing prep package, cargo mat and wheel locks, with or without Nav. I passed on Nav (est additional cost $40/mo), as not available in my preferred colors.
With December to Remember promo, I could have leased this car for $429+tx, AFTER a $2500 down payment. With what I learned from this forum, I was able to use MSD's to get the payment to $420.56+tx, with ZERO down payment.
Total payment with tax $450 per month.
Without MSD's, price offered with no down payment was $529, (which was still less than the promotion price), MSD's saved me over $2800 on this lease, what a great return on an investment!!
Since my salesman knew almost nothing about MSD's, I don't think it is something they commonly use when negotiating prices, but this is how it works:
Lexus allows lease customers to reduce the interest rate on their lease by making "Multiple Security Deposits" which are fully refundable at the end of the lease.
Always ask about this option!!
Thanks again to all who educated me, it made it so much easier to get a great deal!
Thanks.
While filling out the credit check paperwork the true colors of Lexus of Cerritos came out, now the price had changed. Trey and his manager now tell me that the car can not be sold for the agreed upon price. I showed all the e-mails and the paperwork including the $1,000.00 receipt to the gentlemen and they still refuse to honor the deal. I thought this type of shady dealing went by the wayside years ago. Lexus of Cerritos truly has made this a December to remember for both me and my wife!
This discussion is focused on pricing. You might have better luck posting in the general Lexus RX 350 discussion.
