    Hi Everyone,

I am looking for an RX350 but am not in a hurry. Looking to upgrade from my '03 Accord. Just wondering if anyone is aware of how Lexus times its model releases, is the 2008 RX350 expected some time soon?

Looking at the older posts about '07 RX350, it seems like it was released some time around Mar/Apr this year. So if the '08 model is due in Mar/Apr 2007, is it fair to expect the '07 RX350 to be discounted heavily over the next couple of months?

    My preferred options:
    RX350 AWD
    + Premium package
    + Navigation

Also, is there anybody here who has experience dealing with the Peterson Lexus in Boise?

    Thanks.

I am closing to finish a deal exactly the same as yours. I went to my credit union to get finance and there is a problem with the lien holder issue. The tile will be done by myself after I receive the vechicle (weeks later), the credit union won't finace it if the title is not done by the dealer. How do you solve the case? let the dealer do the title (out of state) or show some other document to let your bank give the loan?

I am also in the same situation. How did you get this resolved?
    Thanks...

I went to two different dealers in CT and got the same higher money factor of 0.00143. Does anyone know what the money factor should be for the CT/Northeast region? When I mention the 0.00113 and 0.00133 money factors Lexus of Westport told me I was wrong.

    I negotiated the following
2007 Lexus RX350 FWD Navigation Package with leather trim interior, wood & leather steering wheel & shift knob, power tilt/telescoping steering wheel with memory, heated 10-Way Power front seats, rain sensing wipers, One-Touch open/close moonroof, 6-disc in-dash CD changer, Generation 5 Navigation System with Bluetooth, Voice-Activation, Compass and Rear Back-Up Camera, high-intensity discharge headlamps with adaptive front lighting system, roof rails and rack, Illuminated Entry system, cargo mat & wheel locks, and 18" Aluminum Alloy wheels.

It has an MSRP of $44,146

for $37700 license, a $8.75 California tire fee, and a $45 documentation fee
Is this a good deal, please advise?

I heard February when I first started researching last month but now the word is mid January!
  • moolmanmoolman Member Posts: 129
Yes, if the $37700 includes the price of the registration, it's a great deal, even if it doesn't it's still a good deal.

I paid $37,500 plus registration, tire fee and doc fee in So Cal.

Bottom line pricing in SoCal seems to be around $37,500 for the car with MSRP $44146. I couldn't get $37000 but $37,400 was doable but I chose to stay with my local dealer and settled on $37500 since that's the lowest price others were getting.

    Good luck

The deals just aren't that good for Lexus in Houston(all that oil money is going to fancy cars), I was all pretty much set to buy elsewhere, but the hassle just made me hold off. After reading around this place, I finally got an ok deal from Sterling for 41700+ttl on an awd rx350+navi+ppkg. West side just wasn't dealing, plus they only had a fwd and I was looking for an awd. I was kinda rushing to get one, so didn't really negotiate much, but I think u can score one for 200 less if u bargained a bit. PM me if u want my sales guy, he's pretty easy to deal with.

    thx for your help.

Just purchased my RX350 2007 AWD/premium plus/NAV/18" Aluminum Alloy Wheels/Towing Prep Package/Cargo Mat/Wheel Locks from Lexus of Stevens Creek in San Jose. MSRP is $45706, my price: $39,388 (i.e., well below KBB invoice). OTD price: $42710 (w/o registration since I'm a WA resident). Picked up drove the car all the way back to Seattle (800 miles). Saved a bunch of money (about $1700 after travel expenses) compared to what local WA dealers want (we have only 3 Lexus dealerships in the whole state). I could have also shipped the car ($600) to WA but the timing wasn't right - I wanted the car right away, not a week later.

Looks like mine (AWD with NAV) is the best selling RX350 config in the Bay Area, while So. Cal mostly sells FWD's.

I don't see a reason not to buy from Lexus dealers in other states (especially in Cal), where competition is high. Shipping your auto is easy and not that expensive. There are plenty of auto shippers hungry for your business out there - check out http://www.transportreviews.com/ for reviews/prices. I'm sure you can find a dependable auto shipper for $1000 or less from CA to anywhere in mainland USA. Or you can drive the car back home yourself.

This is my second RX and both of them I purchased from CA while living in WA. Will do that again.

Thank a lot to people on these forums, especially charles12 and jacks2!

Send me personal email if you need more specific info.

    Zopuh,

glad to hear you did it and saved a lot of money. I think it is not only money saving but also a better experience.

The rust protection underneath the car covers part of the area but not all such as the gas tank - not covered, which is different from my Honda car. Do all Lexus cars like this OR only those shipped to CA?

I want to purchase a 07 RX 350 FWD w/navi and premium plus package. I live in Louisiana where I believe there are only three dealerships (two owned by the same company). Needless to say there is little or no competitive pricing. Best offer I have close to home is $41,300 + fees. I was hoping for a better deal. I am considering looking in Texas and when I mentioned this to the local dealer, they immediately said that if I purchased elsewhere, I wouldn't be able to take advantage of their loaner program or any other courtesy offered customers who buy locally. I am somewhat discouraged by this, but if there's a chance to save a few dollars, buying elsewhere may be an option. Any recent purchases in Louisiana anyone would like to share? Thanks
  • chasvchasv Member Posts: 13
I don't think they can refuse you loaner cars. From what I understand it's Lexus company policy to give them to all customers.

I have read some messages from the past month, but has anyone in December purchased from the Boston/northern New England area recently? I am seriously considering the RX350 AWD with Premium Plus and Navigation. If anyone has purchased recently, can you advise on your dealer location? I may try to purchase the week between Christmas and New Year's. Is that a good time? Would they be slower, and since it's the end of the month, better time for their numbers? Or wait until the end of January? Thanks in advance!

I just came across a dealer in Southern California who is selling an 07 RX 350 with NAV , AWD and Premium plus for 39,000 even. This is the lowest price I found so far since the last 2-3 weeks I have been looking around after checking this forum. Anyone looking to buy an RX350 should definitely try with at Lexus of Oxnard close to LA if it works out for you. Hope this helps you.

If you need any more info, let me know.

    Thanks,
    Vipul.

Anyone knows what it takes to buy a car out-of-state? I live in Seattle, and am finding a market monopoly with the two dealerships and the best prices they have offered is no where close to the 39K for the configuration Vipul is talking about.

Longo Lexus and Crown Lexus both beat Oxnard Lexus on the RX 350 AWD I am looking for.
  • briegelbriegel Member Posts: 139
I live in Redmond and did just that in December of 2004. Because I wanted to trade in my 2002 RX 300 on a 2005 RX 330, I went through Auto Solutions, a broker that works with credit unions and charged me $350. They arranged the deal with the Internet Manager at Lexus of Riverside (Southern California), which included a "paper trade" so that Auto Solutions ended up with my 2002 RX and I got my trade equity applied to the lease transaction with Lexus of Riverside. It was shipped to Auto Solutions in Portland, I picked it up there and was given a Washington State temporary 3-day license to drive it home to Redmond and then apply for the Washington registration myself.

The whole transaction was smooth and less expensive than buying from one of the Northwest dealers. It could all (negotiated purchase including shipping) be done directly with the California dealer also, which I have since talked to Lexus of Riverside about also. Some of the other Southern California dealers that have been mention in these forums will probably do the same thing.

Good luck...hope you will share your experience with us!

You may find few other dealers in sou california who were willing to match the same price 39k but the color I wanted wasn't available instock with most of them. In the first two weeks of December, they were quoting a little higher but now, they are willing to sell it at a lower price. Maybe inview of the targets since it is the last week of the year. Newport,Oxnard and Keyes dealerships matched this price.

I already signed the paperwork for the color I was looking for with Lexus Carlsbad for 39,396 and couldn't back out of it. I am an out of state customer(from Minnesota) shopping for the best prices and my friend and I bought one RX350 each. They just provided the All Weather mats which are retailing for 137.50 upon a little renegotiation free of cost which I don't think is a big deal anyway.

Anyone else who is looking for a Lexus, I would advise you to shop arnd in South California before you buy one to grab the best deal.

Being out of state customer, I had to pay only the Doc fee (45.00), tire fee (8.50) and a temp permit (15.00) which is altogether 68.50.

I was told that I just need to pay the TTL here in Minnesota once I get the vehicle shipped. I am expecting my car sometime in first week of January.

I got a quote for 610 dollars for shipping from CA to MN (Terminal to Terminal). Dealer is dropping off the vehicle at the Auto shipper's terminal in Sandiego.

Hope my experience would help other Out of State buyers like me and if anyone has any questions, please email me if I can be of any further assistance.

    Thanks,
    Vipul.

    zozk,

See my earlier post #3035 in this discussion. I live in Redmond, WA and I bought my RX350 a week ago in the Bay Area (No. Cal) at $800 below the invoice price. I picked up the car myself and drove it all the way back to WA (12 hours). You can also ship you car using any auto shipper - their delivery time and prices vary but you should be able to ship the car door-to-door for $600 or so and get it in a week.

If you drive the car yourself, you pay the CA tax (8.25%) at the CA dealership and then the tax difference in WA, when you register your car with the local DMV.

I negotiated with Lexus of Bellevue and Seattle and none of them came even close to what I was going to pay for the car. The best quote I got from them was about $1200 over the invoice. The salesman at LoB was full of sh.. - he lied in my face (I was able to verify that on the spot).

I also emailed Lexus of Spokane, Lexus of Portland, Lexus of Eugene, Lexus of Boise. None of them came up with a reasonable quote. On the contrary, almost all of the Lexus dealerships in So. and No. Cal. promptly sent me quotes well below the invoice.

I don't see a reason why one should pay an extra grand or two to the local dealer unless you are really bonded with them or you don't care much about the money. For RX350 AWD, I recommend dealers in No. Cal. (Putnam, Stevens Creek, Magnusson) for RX350 FWD I recommend Lexus dealers in So. Cal. (Longo, Westminter, Mission Viejo).

I am in the final throes of deciding on an RX 350 color. Definitely want ivory interior, and am down to neptune blue, bamboo or black for the exterior. When I tried the bamboo I felt excited and energized, didn't even want to stop at stop signs, just wanted to go! With the darker colors, feel more solid and sedate, but wonder if this will get boring. Am hitting 50 so am afraid to give up that youthful feeling too easily. Also, how hard are the darker colors to keep clean, and are they hotter in the summer?
  • gsvipulgsvipul Member Posts: 14
Though darker colors look really impressive it is hard to maintain them. So this time I went for a lighter shade Breakwater blue and infact I liked it.

    Thanks

Darn! I'm sorry that I missed this post. I bought it in Newport Beach, CA and got the showroom model.

I felt that I got a great deal, although at the time, I didn't want the DVD (2 kids...I thought, lots of begging/fighting?)and didn't really want to pay the extra. But the Mark Levinson won out and is worth it. The rear seats recline and the wireless headsets are a dream. My husband and I can sit in the front, listen to our music and the kids are happy as clams on long trips.

    Vipul,

I am also planning to buy from Southern Ca and please provide me the details about the Auto shippers and contact information. How did u select the Auto shipper and got your quote?

    Thanks.
  • gsvipulgsvipul Member Posts: 14
I took quotes from atleast 10 auto shippers and DASautoshippers.com (Dependable Auto Shippers) turned out to be the cheapest for both Door to Door as well as Terminal to Terminal. Just go to their website and enter your zipcodes from and to and you'll be able to see an instant quote. Incase you wanted to find out the rate for Door to Door, you can see that option as well in the same page as you scroll down. I don't know if it would be the cheapest for you but for CA to MN it turned out to be the cheapest and also I used this before once couple of years ago and there service was good. All other competitors quoted me atleast 750 as opposed to 610.

If it is costing more for Door to Door, look for a dealer who would drop the vehicle free to the terminal. Most of the dealers drop the vehicle free of cost within a radius of 50 miles.

Hope this info helps you. Please share your experience if possible.

    Thanks.

    Zopuh,
Your mail response to Zozk mentioned some SO. Cal dealers are offering $800 below the invoice price. I checked the Edmunds RX350 (no options) invoice price with destination charge is $33814.00. So I maybe pay around $33100.00. Is that right?
I live in Dallas. If I have someone to drive new car for me to Dallas, can I pay the Texas tax (6.00%) instead of CAL tax? Thanks. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Delivery in California will result in California sales tax being collected..

I'm not sure on the rules for delivery out of state, but you will probably have to have the car actually shipped to you, to avoid the CA sales tax (or at least shipped out of California. I don't think you could just pay someone to pick it up at the dealer and drive it to you.

I've heard of salespeople driving new cars to Nevada to complete delivery. Not sure if a dealer in California will help you with that or not.

I bought the same configuration at Oct 31.
Lexus of Norwood gave me best offer 40700. (MSRP 45700)
seems easier to negotiate around end of month.
  • chasvchasv Member Posts: 13
I thought that the tax is paid to whatever state you register the car in and the dealership should help you to register the car. You just need to give them proof of residency and they give you temporary tags. And I also don't think it would be possible for you to owe tax to two states.
  • zopuhdzopuhd Member Posts: 13
    Ptang,

So. Cal Lexus dealers can give you an even greater discounts on RX FWD (I've seen people here reporting $1200 off of the invoice price at Longo and Mission Viejo on FWDs), since this is much more popular config over there than the AWD. On the contrary, No. Cal dealers sell more AWDs than FWDs so expect better discounts on AWDs there.

The sales tax rule is: If you ship your car to your home state then you only pay the sales tax in your home state after the car is delivered (or no tax at all, in case of Oregon, for example, since they don't have a sales tax). If you choose to drive the car (or someone else wiil drive it for you), then you have to pay 8.25% CA tax when you pick up the car at the dealership. In you home state, you'll then pay the difference on the sales tax. So, I paid an extra 0.85% sales tax in WA since our local sales tax is slightly higher than in CA (9.1% compared to 8.25%). The people at the DMV know all that stuff - you just need to show them your sales contract (make sure it show the amount of tax you paid in CA). Anyway, you won't be taxed twice but you'll eventually pay a cumulative tax at the rate of the sales tax in your home state.

When you pick up the car to drive it to a different state the dealership will give you a one-way transit permit for the car (it costs about $16) that they wiil stick on the windshield.

California dealers can't deliver a car in California, without collecting California sales tax.

You can buy from a California dealer, but you have to take delivery out of state, if you want to avoid California sales tax.

I live in PA where there are limited dealers and no great deals. That being said, I have the following 2 offers:

    1. New 2007 AWD, Prem Plus package for $39,000

    2. Used 2007 AWD, 5500 miles, Nav, Prem Plus for $39,990

    3. Used 2004 AWD, Prem Plus, 17,000 miles for $29,000

I have a car that I want to trade in on the deal.

    Thoughts?

This site helped me negotiate this deal, which I am very pleased with. I live in Philly, so prices are not as good as CA, but I got the Neptune Blue w/Ivory, AWD, Premium plus, Navi, etc. MSRP $45,706. I also got dealer installed XM. Total purchase price $41,400 plus sales tax. In addition, I don't have to take delivery until end of Jan, and since I'm paying in cash that's another month of interest. The dealer was the one in Doylestown, PA. Very good experience with them, unlike others who kept telling me about doc fees, marketing fees, etc. This dealer beat everyone on price, was a pleasure, especially since other dealers kept telling me I had to take by Jan 2. Good luck and thanks to all.

Anyone purchase a RX350 with Premium Plus and Nav in NY? How much did you pay? I think the Premium Plus package is a standard in NY. I don't necessarily need the Nav, but if the price is good, it wouldn't hurt. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am another appreciative forum reader who has benefited from the info posted here. Thanks everyone! Just brought home our 2007 RX350, AWD, 18" wheels, Premium Plus, Navigation, heated seats, black with light gray interior. MSRP $45,706, invoice $40,866. Long story, but after reading the forum for a month I used the tips and waited til Christmas slow-down to negotiate. Sent e-mails to Ray Catena, Burdick in Syracuse, Dorschel in Rochester and Northtown in Buffalo with my offer of $40,200. Ray Catena immediately offered $500 above invoice, Northtown came in with $100 BELOW invoice and Dorschel initially offered only $1350 over invoice. After negotiating Dorschel to match Northtown, I was close to accepting, then got a last-minute call back from Northtown saying they would go $400 BELOW, so I accepted. Final price $40,466 including destination, no extra charges besides TTR. I was extremely pleased, considering most buyers in the East can't seem to get below invoice. Internet sales guy at Northtown was terrific. Straight-shooter, personable. Love the ride!! Good luck.

Just wanted to give a huge thank you for everything I learned from this forum. Understanding how the lease payment is calculated, knowing what the true money factor was, and especially being informed as to how MSD's worked, allowed me to get a great lease price on my RX350AWD at Prestige Lexus in Ramsey NJ!
Great salesman, no BS, quick and painless experience. In Northeast, options are pretty limited, especially this late in the promotion. So only Prem Plus - Luxury Value Edition, packaged with heated front seats, rain sensing wipers, headlamp washers, 18in alloy wheels with full size spare, towing prep package, cargo mat and wheel locks, with or without Nav. I passed on Nav (est additional cost $40/mo), as not available in my preferred colors.
With December to Remember promo, I could have leased this car for $429+tx, AFTER a $2500 down payment. With what I learned from this forum, I was able to use MSD's to get the payment to $420.56+tx, with ZERO down payment.
Total payment with tax $450 per month.
Without MSD's, price offered with no down payment was $529, (which was still less than the promotion price), MSD's saved me over $2800 on this lease, what a great return on an investment!!
Since my salesman knew almost nothing about MSD's, I don't think it is something they commonly use when negotiating prices, but this is how it works:
Lexus allows lease customers to reduce the interest rate on their lease by making "Multiple Security Deposits" which are fully refundable at the end of the lease.
    Always ask about this option!!
Thanks again to all who educated me, it made it so much easier to get a great deal!

For the past 2 years I have had a goal to buy a new Lexus RX for my wife. We have made every sacrifice to save the money, working extra hours & saving every cent we could so that we could pay cash for our new car. On 12-29-06 I went to Lexus of Cerritos after shopping online and made a deal with Mr. Trey Williams. I put $1,000.00 down on a car that was suppose to be on the lot on 12-31-06. I called Trey on 12-31-06 and was told that the car was there but could not be prepared on that day or on 1-1-07 because of the holiday, but the car would be ready to pick up on 1-2-07 at 4:00pm. With checkbook in hand and one very excited wife we drove to Lexus of Cerritos only to be told that our car was not on the lot yet. Disappointed but being assured by Trey that the car would be available on 1-3-07 we agreed to do the remainder of the paperwork so that we could simply come back on 1-3-07 and take the car home.
While filling out the credit check paperwork the true colors of Lexus of Cerritos came out, now the price had changed. Trey and his manager now tell me that the car can not be sold for the agreed upon price. I showed all the e-mails and the paperwork including the $1,000.00 receipt to the gentlemen and they still refuse to honor the deal. I thought this type of shady dealing went by the wayside years ago. Lexus of Cerritos truly has made this a December to remember for both me and my wife!
