Does anyone know the 10 new Chevy cars and trucks? I know the Cobalt is one of them. Here is the list I came up with.

    1. Cobalt
    2. Aveo
    3. SSR
    4. Corvette
    5. Equinox
    6. Uplander
    7. Colorado
    8. Malibu
    9. Malibu Maxx
    10. Impala (i heard some rumors it is getting redesigned for 2006)

It was very nice. GM has a hit on the way in the small car arena.. finally! The Cobalt SS was also very nice, probably the best looking compact coupe on the market.

    I like both.

Change #8 to HHR. Everything else is right.

Where can I see pictures of the Cobalt Coupes? All help appreciated.

Try wieck.com Click on public, then type in cobalt. Or you could just go to chevrolet.com

wieck.com or Chevrolet.com. Either one has a few pictures. (Wieck has a little more than Chevrolet's site)

Exclude the SSR. It came before the revolution even started. Then just add HHR, not delete #8!
    1. Cobalt
    2. Aveo
    3. HHR
    4. Corvette
    5. Equinox
    6. Uplander
    7. Colorado
    8. Malibu
    9. Malibu Maxx
    10. Impala (i heard some rumors it is getting redesigned for 2006)
  • theo2709theo2709 Member Posts: 476
No, the Malibu came out before the REVOLUTION. 8 should be SSR.
  • jchan2jchan2 Member Posts: 4,956
The SSR and Malibu are both counted as part of the revolution, at least in the Chevy ads.
  • theo2709theo2709 Member Posts: 476
Notice that only the MAXX is in the ads.
  • jchan2jchan2 Member Posts: 4,956
true. Do they count the Malibu?
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Maxx is a long wheelbase 5 door version of the 'bu, I'm not sure I'd consider them seperate vehicles. Maybe that's why we count 11?

Malibu is not included because technically it came out last Sept. or Oct., meaning it missed the 20 month requirement.
  • jchan2jchan2 Member Posts: 4,956
then what's the tenth car? we have:
    1. Aveo
    2. Malibu Maxx
    3. Uplander
    4. Equinox
    5. Corvette
    6. Colorado
    7. Cobalt
    8. SSR
    9. HHR
    10. ???????

    Nomad???
  • jchan2jchan2 Member Posts: 4,956
    What's the Nomad?
  • jchan2jchan2 Member Posts: 4,956
that wagonish thing I saw in detroit is the Nomad!!!

Did GM annouce that it was going to be built? I heard it was simply a concept.
  • theo2709theo2709 Member Posts: 476
Nomad is still just a concept. Tenth car is refreshed 06 Impala.
  • diablo4diablo4 Member Posts: 40
    Or 06 Monte Carlo
  • johnclineiijohnclineii Member Posts: 2,287
Maybe it will be the Pontiac Pursuit! US can't keep selling the Sunfires forever...
  • jchan2jchan2 Member Posts: 4,956
the ten cars have to be Chevys.
  • tomcat630tomcat630 Member Posts: 854
2006 Impala/MC refresh. The Malibu lineup counts as one.

Also, I can't believe GM will still make the trashy Sunfire for 2005. It is so old, it should be elegible for 'antique vehicle' licence plates!
  • johnclineiijohnclineii Member Posts: 2,287
and even more unbelievable, Canadians get the replacement--Pursuit, built on the Cobalt platform. It's all very, very strange and almost impossible to explain.

What ARE they thinking at GM?
  • theo2709theo2709 Member Posts: 476
Hopefully Pontiac will build a Kappa G4 :-)

I have now been told that the SS with the 2.4 will be available in the spring of 05. Some engineers recently drove the Cobalts with manuals outside of Phoenix and said they felt great.
  • jchan2jchan2 Member Posts: 4,956
When can people drive to the local dealer with the keys and title to their current car, write a check and drive away in a Cobalt?
  • homerkchomerkc Member Posts: 113
Does anyone know if the Cobalt will be a tall car, like the Corolla, Vibe, or PT Cruiser? That high seat (hip point) makes all the difference in the world. Can't tell from the pictures.
  • johnclineiijohnclineii Member Posts: 2,287
From what I saw at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the Cobalt is NOT a tall car. The h point should be about the same as the current models....
  • dan165dan165 Member Posts: 653
Saw a Cobalt coupe and a Pursuit sedan in Toronto and they are not tall thankfully. The Corolla would look much better if it wasn't "tall" in my opinion.

Any word if they are going to offer the Cobalt sedan with the SS trim? Will they be offering it with a manual transmission?
  • jchan2jchan2 Member Posts: 4,956
yes, but without the supercharged engine.
  • johnclineiijohnclineii Member Posts: 2,287
What exactly would be the point without it?
  • bigdaddycoatsbigdaddycoats Member Posts: 1,058
There will be a SS sedan and coupe and a SS supercharged SS coupe. The SS supercharged coupe will be a manual only and the SS sedan and coupe will launch with an automatic only. The SS sedan and coupe are scheduled to get a manual in June of 05.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Ok, *now* I'm confused. How're we supposed to keep track of all these models? ;-)

SS should mean supercharged, don't you think? Super Sport, right?

The Astra is one fine piece of machinery, I don't think the Cobalt will be able to match it.
  • alpha01alpha01 Member Posts: 4,747
Claims such as "I don't think the Cobalt will be able to match it" are always more significant and/or valuable when supported by subsequent fact, elaboration, detail...

Wait to drive it, the Malibu drives nicely, certainly better than you expect.

I may change my opinion once firm specs come out for the Cobalt SS S/C.
  • dan165dan165 Member Posts: 653
I think the Cobalt / Pursuit will have a tuff slug in Canada with some of it's own Korean siblings. In the fall Chevy dealers will have Aveos, Optras and Cobalts all in the compact class. Small cars are king up here with higher taxed gas prices ect. but either GM is really smart and will steal market share from Hyundai/Kia and the Japanese companies or it will steal from it's own Cobalt sales. Should be an interesting test. I read in the paper that if it all flies up here, the U.S. will get Optra and Epica next year. I also read that sales are going well here on those cars.
  • johnclineiijohnclineii Member Posts: 2,287
I was at NAIAS, the Detroit Auto Show. Believe me, NO ONE will mistake the Aveo for a Cobalt, or vice versa. Nor do I believe they will be cross shopped by many. The price levels are far different, the build type and quality are far different, the target markets are far different.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Yeah, Aveo is really tall and boxy while the Cobalt is more sleek and lower.

    Very cool. I'd drive it.
  • logic1logic1 Member Posts: 2,433
Otherwise, really nice. I like the guages.
  • vuefor2vuefor2 Member Posts: 490
Ya, spoiler is a bit much.

Can you delete from the Red Line Ion?
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
The seats look nice. The red trim in the door, also. The dash is OK, better than the Cavalier, but not a match for the Mazda3.

    should have typed gauges.

It would be darn right unSaturn like if you could not delete the spoiler on the Redline.

I just found specs on Chevrolet's web site - the Cobalt sedan is almost an inch taller than a Focus sedan (though an inch shorter than Corolla). So it should have the upright seating and legroom equal to or greater than Focus. It's also an inch wider and five inches longer. I'm hoping for a thoroughly comfortable sedan, for the price of a Corolla!
