..... You'll do a whole lot better (on price) with a MT ..

The vast majority of buyers will do a pass and the dealers would love to move them .... the down side is, they also take a $2,000+ beating at trade time ...

Thanks. I'm looking to drive this car for 5 years and then make it my son's car when he turns 16 so trade isn't that important but it is good to know.

If you want something to compare the price to. I recently bought a 06 TL/auto/nav from San Antonio for $32,688.00. That is excluding license/title/tax and all that good stuff.

One thing I've learned, get prices on cars that have been in the lot for a while. The one I got was in the lot for a couple of months. Because they were getting a new shipment of TL's in, they were trying to get rid of the TL's from the previous shipment.
  • dallencatdallencat Member Posts: 28
Yep, things are different, I agree. I like to drive something new every 5 years (though it's been 8 since my last new car) and the timing works well, not to mention that I love the crash test ratings for the TL and a 16 y/o! :)
  • stevebaltomdstevebaltomd Member Posts: 8
Agree...What I meant was to separate the two costs so you have a better one to one comparison...One dealer may low quote a base price but have higher fees for overall higher price. Also, one has to factor in other dealer incentives/extras like free all weather floor mats/mud guards/free oil changes, etc.

" and that was with me working "and" going to school ...... things sure are different nowadays. "

You should see the student parking lot at my son's high school. The vehicles there are newer and more expensive than the vehicles in the teacher's parking lot.....

I've seen the same at the HS near my home where my boys will go. Times are different!

I have not seen a single ad or commercial in NJ area about this financing or have I seen it on any local dealer web sites. Any thoughts??

    Thanks!
  • wjhazeltonwjhazelton Member Posts: 4
    Good idea.

Actually, I just got an offer from one of the others that was $500 lower than the first and both include everything - tax, destination, doc, tags and title. My plan is to take both offers to a third dealer where I have a test-drive scheduled on Tuesday evening. I'd rather buy there because it's a lot closer to home but if they won't deal, I now know who will.
  • liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
That's a great idea. That's what I did. I test drove and got to know the dealer nearest to me (where I really wanted to buy it) then got bids in the surrounding area. When I felt I had received some good offers, I went to my original dealer and asked them to match or beat it, explaining I would rather buy from them if possible. It worked out great for me.

Good luck, and enjoy the car, I sure am.
  • liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
That price is too high! I bought mine for $33.5 and that was in the middle of the year and the middle of the month. A week later, I was given an offer of $32.5 and another of $32.2, so I would keep searching out there. I would also not be eager to buy from someone who is slimy about facts such as invoice...

Thanks for the advice..the price you paid for your TL is really a good one...I used to live in San Antinio, maybe I ask them for a quote...is there more than one dealer?
    Thanks Again,

I see it everyday .. it's a very sad reflection of our current society ... Very Sad.!

Many dealers quote prices including destination (normally $615 for a TL), which may account for the differences in listed invoice. Some dealers also automatically install the protection package (locks, mats, trunk liner). Before assuming that the dealer is slime, make sure you are not comparing apples and oranges. On the other hand, if the comparisons are valid, and the invoice is different than listed on the internet, avoid that dealer...
  • j7mikae7j7mikae7 Member Posts: 7
Great Points...I'm checking with other dealers to see how this price breaks down and I'm trying to be as fair as possible, but getting an honest answer from most dealers is a challenging one!! ;)

I just finalized my purchase of a '06 Acura TL on Saturday. At the time I was on the lot the dealer did not have the exact car I wanted and delivered this one from a dealer in a bordering state within 5 days. I purchased a... anthracite black, automatic w/navigation, tinted windows (5 windows), splash guards, trunk tray, floor mats and wheel locks. The purchase price was $33,500. This is minus tax/title/license.
  • liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
Overall fair deal. Lousy if you're in California, but very good if you're in the heartland. Overall, not bad.

Enjoy the car! Love that color... :)

This weekend I tried to purchase a 2003 TL base model (47,000 miles) at my local Acura dealer (Washington, DC). The sticker listed the N.A.D.A. retail price at $23,9995. I asked how they got that number. He said that it is published by NADA. When negotiating I asked the salesperson to show me the NADA book. It listed $20,100. I felt very deceived that they had told me that NADA said $23,995. Anyway, he said that they had to add in the certification fee. $3,900 seem too much for certification?

Does it seem that the dealership was dishonest honest by saying the sticker price was the NADA price?

And how much you you think I should aim for in getting a 2003 TL base with average miles?

Also, they said that they buy their TL vehicles at the dealer auction for around $17,000 or more. Does that sound right?

Did it. A NAVI Automatic black with tan interior. $32,500/- + 200 dox fee. Out the door price = $32,700/-

    Hope I did good.

    Thx for all ur help,

Just talked with Ed Voyles Acura. Looks like the special for 20 years is going to be financing:

    With good credit (730+):
    24-36 months - 2.9%
    37-48 months - 3.9%
    49-60 months - 4.9%

Add a percent for next credit bracket. Not a showstopper for me. Looks like USAA wins again.

Just got a 06' TL w/nav and wheel locks for $32,320 (destination included)over the weekend at Steven Creek in San Jose, CA. OTD price came to a little over $35,300. Highly recommend going through their internet manager, no hassle.
  • hkyhky Member Posts: 71
Just purchased 06 TL/NAV, tint, splash guard, ipod adapter & wheel locks for 33,440 in Arlington, TX; get the special finance rate from AHF. Trade-in was borderline ok (~500 less than carmax but got the tax saving, could have asked for more but got tired of the usual salesman tricks).
  • buyer777buyer777 Member Posts: 70
    This starts when??
  • j7mikae7j7mikae7 Member Posts: 7
    Hi Hky,
Looks like you did very well...did you purchase from vandergriff acura?(used to live in north arlington)...Also what did they quote you as the invoice price?. Thanks for the help!!
    MRod
  • liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
USAA should always win. They guarantee to match the lowest competitor interest rate!
  • hkyhky Member Posts: 71
Yes, it is vandergriff. The invoice price is accurate in edmunds, but they have a hold back, not disclosed; other poster in this forum says ~1k. They seem to be very eager to deal. I contacted the internet sales dept within 5 mins got a call and offered me the price. Except for the ipod adapter, I didn't purchase any accessories from them, expect them to charge you 2-3 times over internet price for anything, all the rest is included in the price, so arm yourself with real accessories pricing if you want to purchase any.

They have quite a few TL in their lot, mine still has plastic on it - 2 miles odo :)
  • socalhelpsocalhelp Member Posts: 13
Sounds good. Does that include taxes, license, destination etc? Do you have the total breakdown?
  • mageshmagesh Member Posts: 33
That is the final price. $32,700/- is the final price. Maybe another $100/- if I have not computed the dox properly. But the $32,500/- includes all other fees (cost of car + dest charge + dealer prep, etc ...). The car comes with the protection package (mats, trunk tray & wheel locks as well). Oregon does not have any taxes.

Might end up getting the tint, which I believe is another $400/- or so.

    Thx

okay, i'm a bit confused. i've received two offers from dealers in the chicago area. both willing to go invoice. basically, 32,800... which includes destination. it's for a TL with navi. does anyone think i can do better? doe dealers negotiate their hold-back?
  • hkyhky Member Posts: 71
325 installed. If you use honda estore site and find them (each dealer has a different price and varies a lot!?), the list price including installtion is 385. Originally quoted 500 and sweared it's their cost!

If you search ebay or the internet, you may be able to find a better price but you probably have to spend 2 hours to install it (their tech takes a little over a hour)

The dealership I went to was GUNN Acura. I hope everything works out for you.

    An 04 TL?

Assuming you meant an 06. Looks like you bought instead of leased? Having leased and bought over the past few years I prefer buying over leasing. Less strings attached, the payments aren't a whole lot more $ than leasing, and you have some equity when the loan is over/paid. Makes for a nice down payment on the next one.

My local people say it is BS. I fly to Chicago, they add in a few things they forgot. If you live there, I guess it's real, I have no way of knowing. Hell i'm begging for $33.5k in St. Louis
  • stlacurastlacura Member Posts: 26
I live in St. Louis. If you want a good deal on an Acura you will need to get it out of state. Having only two dealerships here means they will not be competitive.

I got a quote on an 06 TL w/Nav from Ed Napleton (Chicago) for 32,800. And this was about a month ago.
  • murkymurky Member Posts: 9
What kind of price should I expect for a non-navi 06 TL in St. Louis? (non including TTL)
  • stlacurastlacura Member Posts: 26
The invoice on the 06 TL non-navi is about 32,000 (31999). In St. Louis, you won't get anyone to touch invoice. A real good deal in St. Louis is probably about 1,000 over invoice.

Like I mentioned earlier, you could prob go to Chicago and get it right at (or maybe even a little below) invoice.

I'd like to know about these and some others as well but haven't seen a dealer cost anywhere. If you go to the acura home page you can get an accessory MSRP (not including installation costs). You can then look at some online sites amd compare discounted prices on the same product. I don't have any better suggestions.
  • jrourkejrourke Member Posts: 72
The invoice on the 06 TL non-navi is about 32,000 (31999).

If invoice is correctly reported here as $30,384, then adding destination of $615 gives a non-nav 06 TL invoice price of $30,999
  • dallencatdallencat Member Posts: 28
Thanks very much. I'll keep searching and if I locate something, I'll post it here.
  • penny8penny8 Member Posts: 1
I did some internet surfing among several dealers in NOVa area and came up with a best deal of $32700 for 06 TL w/ Nav, incl. dest. Seemed like it was pretty good so I took it.
  • iwantatliwantatl Member Posts: 25
I have St Louis pricing of $33,587 including freight, doc fees. ----- and (protection pkg)wheel locks, trunk tray, and splash guards. Any color 2006 TL Auto NAV. Same deal in Chicago was $33,000. I would spend a couple hundred going to Chicago, so I will probably take it, just to keep the locals happy.
