I saw on Consumer Reports web site that Acura will be offereing an extra dealer incentive of $1,000 on the MDX starting 4/3/06.

I think April is Acura's 20 year anniversry. Wonder if they will offer an incentive on the TL? If so, it may be possible to get a non-nav for under $30k.
  • landlubberlandlubber Member Posts: 12
According to the salesman who sold us our TL, they are willing to do even better deals on MDXs, hinting at about 2k below invoice, as this is the final model year for the current MDX. If they re willing to go 2k below invoice, it sounds as if there already is a somewhat large dealer incentive already out there, and it is about to get bigger. New model debuts later this year.

I wouldn't expect the same for the TL.

Your initial price is very good if it includes the destination charge. My dealer, and alot of others, will throw in wheel locks and floor mats for free. I had window tinting done in Maryland for $230.

Your dealer is "ripping" you off by charging $800 fot tint and wheel locks !!!

Just got an email from Sierra Acura of Alhambra:
"... Preferred Sale Price for the 2006 Acura TL is $30,100* . For the 2006 TL with Navigation, your price is $31,900* ...
*Plus all government fees and taxes, any finance charges, any dealer document preparation charge, and any emission testing charge."

    Forgot an important part:
"... This Sale Price includes destination. ..."

Nah Ah... Really??? I'm going to contact them ASAP!

Really good pricing! But beware the nefarious, "any dealer document preparation charge!" I'd be curious as to what they are. Even if they're on the very high side, probably still a good deal.

Okay, here is the current deal that I'm looking at from
    Mike Hale in SLC, UT

    06 Acura TL w/o Nav
    Selling price - $32,473
    Money factor - 0.00270 & 59%
    Lease end value - $20,024

    36 month lease w/ 12K miles/yr

So for $1500 OTD = $507 plux tax

For the 42 month lease it goes down to
    $489 plus tax

This seems about $20-30/month too high.

    Agree?

Thanks for responding on my last message. Was at Spitzer Acura in Pittsburgh (Super Bowl Champs) and was offered the following deal. 2005 TL w/o Nav for $31,200. That's about $2k off the sticker price. The car has 6,600 miles on it. Acura increases the standard warranty by that much if I purchase it. I'm thing the car is really worth about $28k since it is a demo and a 2005. Am I out of line asking them to go to that number, or should it be less.

Thanks for the advice - Joe

    joe,

I think you would do better with a new 2006.

I paid $600 over edmunds invoice for a non-nav 2006(about $31,600)in the Minneapolis/St paul area, where we have three dealers and two of them have common ownership. Therefore, there isn't a ton of competition. how many dealers are there in the pittsburgh area?

My advice is to email the internet sales guy at all the dealers within a hundred mile radius and ask for a price on an 06 non nav in your color choice. I think you will do almost as well as what you have been quoted for the 05 demo (and it will be worth more down the road).

    good luck

I received a quote for 29K for TL 2005 with 1500 miles on it from a dealership in CT. Car will be sold as a new car

    hockeyguy5,

IMO the selling price isn't outstanding. People are getting TL's w/nav for just a few hundred over that. But if the Acura dealers are stingy in UT then I guess you have no choice other than drive a long way to get a better deal...

    Good luck with the purchase.

A 2004 Acura TL or a 2003 BMW 325xi. They are all with 25,000 miles. Thanks. :confuse:

    Hi, Joey:

Boston resident here (Patriots should have beaten Denver!!! But, alas, if you can't hold on to the ball...). The price is too high, unless there's no competition in the Pitt area. I paid invoice a year ago for a brand new '05 non-nav TL. Got invoice quotes from two different Boston area dealers. You're being quoted on a year old USED car, so your $28k price seems more reasonable.

CHeck pricing here and kbb.com for more pricing ideas...

I got an offer of $30,600 for a non-Nav in Dallas. This doesn't include destination, TTL, or any accessories. Is this a good deal?
  • wjhazeltonwjhazelton Member Posts: 4
Is it really worth it to request quotes over the internet, such as using the request form here on Edmunds.com? I'm tempted, but I wonder if I'm just opening myself up to being nagged by a bunch of salespeople.
  • liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
That's a fair price for not including destination. Make sure it also includes all other fees...they always try to get you interested with the low number but when you add the destination and fees, it isn't a good deal at all and you've wasted a lot of time needlessly....

Aren't you trying to buy a car? You should WANT to be hassled by LOTS of salespersons, thus you can pick the best offer.

It would seem intuitive that if you use email, you would be hassled LESS than going from dealership to dealership. But do whichever is more comfortable to you. If you work better one on one, then do it that way...
  • dallastldallastl Member Posts: 10
Thanks. I should make sure that destination or any other fees will be added. I'm gonna see if I can get some discounts on some accessories.
  • glenn386glenn386 Member Posts: 47
Internet is the way to go for sure if you don't want to hassle with salesmen.

I would not go through any buying service. they decide which dealer to send your request to and then they have your email to offer to others. The dealer in your area that would offer the lowest price may not even be affiliated with a particular service. There just are not that many Acura dealers around. If you don't want junk mail do the minimal leg work and directly email the internet manager or internet salesman listed on each dealers web site.

    Tell them:

    1) you want to purchase by a certain date.
    2) you want a TL nav or non-nav
    3) exterior/interior color
    4) you want a bottom line price that includes everything including destination, advertising, documentation fees, sales tax and Title. An out-the-door price. Now, most guys will not want to go through the trouble of calculating the tax and title before they know you are really buying in the near future. Make sure you follow up on any price they give you and verify in an email what the price includes.

The one that most salesmen like to leave out is the documentation fee, which can vary from 30 bucks to 3-4 hundred depending on the dealer.

this is very easy, and only takes an hour or two total, much less time than going from dealer to dealer. and less aggravating.

    Good luck

Suk: What number did the dealer start at? Two of the dealers I talked with are starting at around 31K. I'm assuming the car does not have NAV.

    Thanks, Joe
  • 2joey42joey4 Member Posts: 4
Laurasdada: I'm in agreement with you. I think I can get them down to 28K. It's so misleading that they are selling the Demo as a new car. Especially the warranty deal versus a "true" used car where they increase it to 7 year 100,000 miles.

One last thought - How important is purchasing the car within the last two days of the month? I'm hearing two sides to the story. Just curious about everyone's experience.

As for the Patriots - losing Vinateri is going to hurt them. And how about him replacing Vander"miss" in Indy. Guess your jobs never safe.

    Thanks for the help, Joe

Thanks for your response....as well as all the posters here. I actually just purchased a 2006 TL w/ nav.

I purchased the car (gray exterior & black interior) at: $32,688.00. With tinted windows and wheel locks, the final price came to: $32,950.00 (or something close to that).

I did no negotiating whatsoever. I went in with a target price of around $32,500.00 and he was able to get close.

Would you be willing to say what dealer that was from? How about the salesman's name?

I'm looking to buy a TL with Nav before month end and maybe you can save me some time.

Does anyone else have any recent experience with Texas dealers?

    Thanks.
  • suksuk Member Posts: 8
Yes it's a non nav 2005 model with 1500 miles on it, will be sold as new car. They started at 31K but I offered them 28k.
  • dallastldallastl Member Posts: 10
I got the offer from MacChurchill. Dunno if it's a good idea to give you his name right now. But after I purchase the car I'll be happy to. Good luck!
  • scw18scw18 Member Posts: 5
Thanks, dallastl. I don't need the salesperson's name but will be interested in knowing what your out-the-door cost is once you get it done. Please let us know.

I found it to be much simpler. I contacted three dealers on the internet, and another by phone (the dealer that I did my original test drive at). Two internet offers came back almost immediately. The third requested that I call them. One offer was low (lower than my initial offer would have been if I made the first move), and became $100 lower with each email that they sent me. I did go to this dealer between emails to see their selection, and to get a few minutes face-to-face with the dealer to show that I am serious, after which he lowered the price two times. The dealer that I phoned could not quite match my best internet offer.

The internet dealer that had requested I call them was quickly eliminated from the game, as they were not playing by the rules in not giving me a quote. Unfortunately, they did not get it, and both called me and emailed me several times after I already purchased my new TL. One call and two emails to that dealer and they finally got the message - this did not amount to much of a hassle considering the savings gained.

Overall, much less hassle than going to multiple dealers, or even than haggling with one dealer on site. Better yet, paid less than I would have, even after doing my homework. I can't imagine doing it any other way now.

Looks like all anyone is going to get for Acura's 20th birthday party is financing. 2.9/36 --- 3.9/48 and 4.9 for 60 months on TL's and ?? starting Friday march 24th through may 1st. I was hoping for some cash. And I still gotta pay $33.8k for a nav in St. Louis, Mo boohoo

I think the general rule of thumb is end of month/quarter/year is a better time to buy than not. However, my guess is that the rule of "supply and demand" trumps most other rules! My last two purchases were between XMas and New Year's Day, supposedly the best time to be a buyer. I got good deals, but I also got a good deal on my Chrysler 300M purchased (end of the month) June '99. But that could have been supply and demand! (Got 0% financing and invoice price! Great car, too.)

    For $31k, I'd think you could get a new '06 non-nav...

Vinetari: Ouch. While your job is never safe, at a couple of million/year + bonuses I would worry much less about my job than I do now! Unless his skills are really on the decline, in the dome Adam should set a few records. Man, I'd hate to be the next Pats kicker... ;)

Nav or Non-nav? Any other dealer options e.g. body molding, spoiler, etc?
  • 65mustang165mustang1 Member Posts: 4
Sorry, with nav, no other options.
  • jrourkejrourke Member Posts: 72
If that includes the destination charge and no other hidden costs (e.g. advertising fees) to be added later, I'd say that's a good deal since it seems to be at invoice.

I'd be interested in knowing where your best price winds up coming from and the dealer experience. I'm also in Chicago area, but haven't completely decided on the TL yet so I haven't really started price shopping .
  • radtech1radtech1 Member Posts: 3
I just received my first e-mail quote from the internet sales manager. I was quoted $30,249 for an 06 TL non-navi w/destination charges. What do you think? I am going to e-mail some other dealers to see if I can get a lower price. Does anybody know the money factor breakdown for a lease according to credit score the Acura dealer uses.
  • iwantatliwantatl Member Posts: 25
What is the name of the dealer in Chicago area? I want to get a quote from them and present it to the 33.8k nav acura guys in St. Louis. I can fly to chicago for 50 bucks.

ps: assuming the nav works, I should be able to find my way back home....
  • laurasdadalaurasdada Member Posts: 5,253
IMHO, that's a very good price (I assume you mean it includes destination when you wrote "w/destination...")! Check out the other replies, but you've already got a winner there. Just beware of "Doc Fees..."

Mcgrath Acura in Chicago gave me a great quote.
2006 TL any color, with navigation.
    32,819. includes destination.
I don't know if they'll hit me with other fees.
I'm waiting for several dealers to respond and trying to buy at the end of the month.

    this is from
    Internet Sales Manager
    Muller's Woodfield Acura

At this time, I am pleased to quote the 2006 Acura TL with Navigation System at: $32,620.00 plus $57.33 for the documentary fee, $15.00 for the county fee and $30.00 for a temporary drive away license plate to allow you to drive it back to Missouri. I am not allowed to charge you tax since you live out of state. My local dealers say it is BS....
  • mikefm58mikefm58 Member Posts: 2,882
Sounds legit to me. You'll take care of the sales tax and registration in your home state.
  • dallencatdallencat Member Posts: 28
I want a MT (w/Nav) and the stock is generally lower on these compared to AT. When I ask for quotes, do I need to state this? Because I can search the inventory on the individual websites, I know if they have MT or not and the details of them. Also, since the invoice and MRSP are the same, it would seem to me that a good deal on one is a good deal on the other.

    Thoughts? Thanks!

Has anybody else been able to verify the special financing that is to begin today? (see message #5792 above)
  • wjhazeltonwjhazelton Member Posts: 4
    Just to follow up...

First, thanks to those who responded. I don't mind being hassled by salespeople if it's worthwhile -- that's why I asked.

Based on your feedback, I e-mailed four local dealers with the details of what I wanted and when and asked for a quote. I got one immediate response that resulted in a pretty good offer ($30,500 plus destination for non-nav)but nothing from the other three. It's been two days -- should I keep waiting or try a different tactic?
  • goldentlgoldentl Member Posts: 4
I just went to the dealer web site for Zimbrick Acura of Middleton, WI. They have the special financing listed there.
  • liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
I'd email the other three with the offer you received from the 1st and tell them you will be taking it unless they beat it w/in the next 48 hours (or whatever time frame you wish)...

BTW, its a pretty good deal you were given, but not great after destination. I'd also iron out if that included ALL FEES other than TT&L...

I was hoping to find some folks out there from dallas/ft.worth that have been quoted prices in my area to compare mine. They told me they'd sell it to me for around 33800.00..seems high to me..also they say their invoice price is 33,100?..when national average 32205.00 ?..thanks for the help
