there's four different acura dealers in my immediate area and have went back and forth with them but it seems as though $33,000 is the lowest that they will go. it seems as though each dealer only wants to go $100 less than the best deal that i have instead of giving me an offer that i can't refuse. i saw one post that said that he bought a tl with nav for 31,660 with the destination fee included but that would put it approximately $1200 under invoice with the destination fee included. the only thing that i can think of is that particular dealer may be trying to reach a certain sales number to keep his same allotment of 07's. if someone has any insight on this please clue me in.

Has Acura extended the 2.9% financing rates for May?
  • car2010car2010 Member Posts: 1
I wish I had posted earlier to save others the trouble of going to Oakland Acura. Though I did eventually buy my TL w/navi here as they matched an offer that was $400 below invoice :) , the sales people and the finance team make this a terrificly horrible experience :( . There were times when I wondered if they even knew what features the car had as standard :confuse: . The sales person I worked with tried extremely hard to sell me on features he thought I wanted to hear versus listening and describing features I wanted to know more about. And true while most info is available on the website, it is an interesting process because you get a good sense of how much they care about simply selling. Guy walks in sell him on the stereo and how the designer was sometype of acoustics guru. Woman walks in sell her on safety. Had the dealership not been next door to the place where I was working and the salesperson good enough to pick me up and drop me off at BART, I most likely would not have purchased from here.

Other item of note, inspect the carpet closely. Despite multiple trips in the back seat, I never noticed the stain in the carpet, because it is small and dark it is not blatantly obvious. But given the tax differential between Santa Clara and Alameda Counties and the fact that I still had the original offer for $400 below invoice, it had value. Bad on me :(
  • dmarcus48dmarcus48 Member Posts: 139
doesn't look like it. i checked the website this morning and there were no "current offers", this afternoon it was back with only a lease price mentioned.
  • bartalk3bartalk3 Member Posts: 692
Too bad they discontinued the 2.9% financing. But they'll probably resurrect it later in the model year, plus apparently 0% financing is coming back, offered by an increasing desperate Detroit.

I'll be buying my TL next week but I am somewhat ambivelent about the warranty business. I have been quoted $1650 for a 6 yr/100k bumper to bumper, which if I never use I get a full refund from Acura...

Anyway, any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
  • justalaguyjustalaguy Member Posts: 37
    Sactoray,

Found your post interesting. I was getting ready to buy a TL in Los Angeles, but did not buy before the special financing ended May 1. Are you getting any special financing from your dealer, and if so, would be curious as to what it is?

Regarding the extended warranty, I am sure you will get 10 different opinions from 10 different people. For me, I don't think I would ever go for it as isn't the TL already covered bumper to bumper for 4 years? Will the extended warranty they are offering "start" when the origanl warranty ends? In other words, will the 6 years beging after 4 years or does the extended warranty start immediately from day of purchase?

From what I've read, extended warranties are all profits for companies offering them so that is why they push them so hard. Tough choice to make as to get the extended warranty or not. The TL is a great car and I am hoping the special financing will return sometime this year.

Good luck and enjoy your new TL.
  • bartalk3bartalk3 Member Posts: 692
The extended warranty overlaps with the manufacturer's warranty, so it is 6 years total from the time the car is new, not 6 years after the 4 years. The TL not only has a 4-year/50,000 mile complete warranty, but they've extended the drivetrain warranty to 6 years/70,000 miles.

I wouldn't bother with the extended warranty. Not worth it, especially for usually reliable Japanese cars. If you were buying an Audi, Mercedes, or BMW, I'd take it.

bought my diamond white TL with parchment interior w/o navi last saturday at santa monica acura. a total pleasant buying experience. they held to their word of 29,980 and a 22 year old young man walked me through the process as julio (my original contact) was busy. this young man was very polite and a pleasure to purchase from him.

now about the car......... it's fantastic. the drive feels as if i'm driving a lexus. very smooth. i really didnt expect such a driving experience. and i love that the car has all the bells and whistles and you dont have to decide on options. i really think it may be my best car yet. i've previously owned a ford explorer, lincoln ls, volvo and now my TL. very happy with my auto choice and i love my diamond white (pearl radiance) color it's so beautiful!

they told me that 80% of their business is through their internet. it's the only way to purchase a car. i'm also buying this car as all my others have been leases. we decided on the 4-year, 3.9% financing.

it was also a pleasure meeting a member of this board, justalaguy at the dealership. pull the trigger and buy yourself a TL!

Congrats on the new ride. Just picked up mine last saturday, and I love it. Coming from a Volvo S80, this car is a rocket! I'm a big guy 6'5", 240 lbs, and I fit fine, my family can fit comfortably in the car. I'm getting 19 mpg with 200 miles on the car, this will probably get better.

Check out some of the acura forums, don't know if I can post links. Do a google, there's a wealth of information out there.

    Vivian,

Happy to hear you love your car. My wife and I fell in love with the Acura after the first test drive and it was the one time we both agreed on one car we liked.

After we saw you at Santa Monica Acura, my wife and I could not decide on what exterior color - went from Redondo Red Pearl to the Charcoal gray (forget the name), to the Desert Mist that was being prepped the same time as yours was.

We were kind of hoping that the financing had been extended past May 1, so we did not buy yet. I wanted to look at the Redondo Red Pearl again but it was at a remote lot they have and it seemed all the sales staff were too busy to take me over there to look and possibly buy. At any rate, at least my wife and I know which car we like now and just hope the special financing comes back.

Enjoy the ride and it was nice meeting you.

    Hi,

I am trying to buy a 06 TL with Navi and getting a price quote of $33100 from dealers in Dallas. Is this good price? Please help.

    Hey,

I am in Jersey and I got the TL for $32,165 with navi and I maybe just add the dest fee of $615 wich is standard everywhere. Good luck with your search. I sent request to all the internet sales people near me via acura.com try that and then try to lower them down. Also check out what they are charging for the doc fees I had one dealer who would beat the car price but the doc fees were like $289 I still wasnt getting a deal b/c that was too high, I ended up paying $129 for doc fees and in NJ the dealers can not make money off of the DMV Fees. Good Luck Again,

Seems like a good price. Which dealer did you buy from ?
  • liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
That's about right. You may luck out on somewhere in the uppper $32's at the end of the month, but otherwise, that's very good...Just make sure it includes all fees sans TT&L.
  • dmarcus48dmarcus48 Member Posts: 139
That's pretty good. I just got mine last week from Montclair Acura for $32655 including dest, another dealer I was working with was going to try to charge me $300 for doc fees and an extra $100 for MV. Monclair doc fees was $129 and normal MV fees.

Looks like it is getting better...just got an internet quote for $32,700 from a dealer in Dallas. This is for TL w/Navi and it includes desti.

I think I am close to the buying price...any thoughts?

Hey dmarcus, any reviews on Springfield Acura or bridewater acura? Am thinking of buying TL with Navi.

Being as tall as you are, I'm surprised that your right knee and lower leg isn't pressed up against the center console when you are driving. The newer TLs are a bit smaller inside than the last generation TL.
  • buckeyebillbuckeyebill Member Posts: 14
I am 6'7" tall and weigh nearly 240 pounds. I was interested in the manual transmission since I wanted thsat extra three tenths of a second 0-60 time and the better braking, etc. But I found that as roomy and comfortable as the car is for me at my height, I was unable to shift easily and my right knee did bump into the console.

Still love the car and will buy the auto. version.
  • dmarcus48dmarcus48 Member Posts: 139
funny thing is I went to bridgewater for a test drive. My internet comparisons where from east brunswick and montclair. Bought from Montclair. You really can do the whole thing via email, I never talked to the salesman except when I told him I was coming down. Make sure that you get info on ALL the costs, dest, doc fees and mv. in my case there where differences totaling about $500. I probably could have gotten them down another couple of hundred or have gotten a few free things thrown in, but I felt that they treated me well.
  • dmarcus48dmarcus48 Member Posts: 139
I know what you mean, but that really isn't a problem for me. The tl has a lot of leg room. I have more of a problem with the seat pressing against my outer thigh, but I had the same problem with my last car, a volvo s80. You'd think that the volvo would be a lot bigger inside. I was really surprised when i pulled the acura into my garage, there didn't seem to be a big diff in length and maybe just a little in width. I think the volvo's back seat was a little bigger, but my kids (24 if that's a kid), said it was about the same. Of course that's just seat of the pants, not real measurement.

I really find the tl very comfortable. Headroom is usually a problem for me, not the case in the tl.

I know that from my height and weight you might think that I'm heavy but I'm really not for my height. You wouldn't call me skinny either.

On a side note my wife is 4'11" (of course), and she loves the car, she's also very comfortable in the car where she thought that the volvo was too big for her. (she has a 01 accord).

Thanks dmarkus48. I am getting similar quotes as you. Will try and see if there is some room for negotiation. Appreciate the help.
  • liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
That's really good. Remember, make sure all fees are included except TT&L...I've seen people agree to the price only to find another $300-500 of extra "fees" sneak in...

My recommendation is to have them email or fax you the complete order of sale with all fees and taxes...that way if there are any incidental fees you will be level headed enough to fight them. It's sometimes hard when at the dealership and being excited about getting the car...

    Good luck!
  • dmarcus48dmarcus48 Member Posts: 139
I tried to get them to throw it in, but they wouldn't budge and I wasn't in the mood to yell and scream. I probably should have pushed it more. The problem is I think of myself as a fair person and thought I was being treated fairly so I didn't push. If my wife was there I probably would have gotten it.

  • dmarcus48dmarcus48 Member Posts: 139
Yup that's what I did, I had everything in an email from the salesman, just in case. Turned out I didn't need it, they were true to their word.

What do you fellas think of this?

In NJ (south), Black/Ebony TL, non Navi, $30,400 including destination, (not including TTL.)

Decent offer of $8,000 trade allowance on my 110K miles 01 TL.

Hope to get some thoughts today. :)

    Thanks

Hi there, I got a price quote in Atlanta (non-nav) without any negotations upfront - 30980 for 2006 TL. I was told also that the low apr is over on May 1st. How much lower I can for the price!
  • dmarcus48dmarcus48 Member Posts: 139
sounds pretty good, almost went with that color combo myself. Just find out what other fees, doc and mv.
  • camry07fancamry07fan Member Posts: 7
Bait and Switch, you tell me!!!

    Time Line:

I contact Springfield Acura through Acura.com and ask them for a quote for TL with Nav. They quote me $31,704 without Taxes and Fees.

I ask them for an Out the door quote, their internet manager quotes me $34526.14 out the door, IN WRITING.

    I counter offer $34000.

Salesman A (different guy from the Internet Manager), calls me and we negotiate and agree upon a price of $34500 with the protection package. He tells me "Bring a toy gun and a face mask, cause you are stealing the car from us". We reconfirm the appointment time to complete the deal.

After 10 minutes the internet sales manager calls me up and goes through the standard sales tactic, that oh, the price is below our invoice and that we will be taking a 1300 dollar loss, and that if I wanted to add the protection package he would give it to me at cost, but would have to charge me $200 more. So now the price is $34,700.

I ask him to break up the cost for me. He puts me on hold for 5 mins and then tells me that he will check with his manager so that there is no mistake and will call me back.

I get a call back from Salesman B, saying ok, i think the final out the door price that was agreed with the internet manager was $34996 and how do we go ahead from here.

By this time, I have realized that its a bait and switch, and so I give him the previous history, and correct him that the last price (to which I had not yet agreed) was $34700.

He tells me that he will check with his finance manager, (2nd time a manager is being talked to), and get back to me.

He comes back to me with a breakup which totals $34996 out the door. I ask him to honour the offer made in writing, but he claims, that the offer of 34500 was a mistake, and that Salesman A was a new salesperson and should not have confirmed the deal at $34500 with pro pack.

Overall a very dissatisfying experience. A classic Bait and Switch. Even offers in writing are now not being honored. Notice, the price of $34500 originally offered to me was a voluntary offer, and not even a negotiated one.

So my advise... stay away from Springfield Acura.
  • dmarcus48dmarcus48 Member Posts: 139
You know it's funny you should say that. Years ago I had some dealings with the same dealership owners (not acura, honda). I found them to be extremely dishonest and I walked. When I was looking at Acuras I avoided even contacting that dealer. I'm glad I did.

I hope you walked. Try Montclair, contact the internet manager there.

That's $600 below invoice; I got mine (Silver/Ebony, non-navi) 3 weeks ago at Heart Acura in NY for $30,500, $500 under. Price included all except TLL. Haven't heard or seen anything better -- good luck.
  • al57al57 Member Posts: 67
good deal,I paid $30600 plus TTL with wheel locks and all weather mats at park avenue acura in nj december 2005
  • petomlinpetomlin Member Posts: 103
It's actually kind of fun to see dealers compete with each other. :)
My price on the TL dropped another hundred, and the trade on my car went up another 300. This is from the dealer who started off with an insulting offer on my car. They have made a 3700 dollar swing, from their first offer! I'll probably go with this deal. I just wonder how long the 'bidding' would go on if I kept going back and forth :)

I was also looking at an 07 Camry. The Toyota dealers wouldn't come up with what I wanted for my trade. Now, after all the discounting on the TL and the trade allowance for my car, the difference between a TL and a Camry XLE V6, is only $1600. :D

I'm being offered $31,300 for a '06 Acura TL without navi by a local "no-haggle" dealership in San Antonio. That's before taxes, title, etc. Does this seem fair, and should I try to bargain even though they are "no haggle"? Will a no-haggle dealership beat the price of another dealership if I get a better offer?

Secondly, why in the hell can't I find a manual TL with a tan interior? Every manual I've seen comes with ebony interior and its aggravating me. The dealership will get a manual with a tan interior from the manufacturer but it will take almost a month to have it delivered, and then I have no bargaining room.
  • nvnicknvnick Member Posts: 50
Have you tried an inventory search at Acura.com?
  • johnnydoejohnnydoe Member Posts: 4
An inventory search of their certified used cars? Yes, however I'm not looking for a used car, nor do they have any that meet my criteria.

If there is a way to search dealership's new inventories I don't see it.
  • dmarcus48dmarcus48 Member Posts: 139
I THINK that there aren't that many 6sp manuals to go around. I paid $32,655 for an auto with nav and dest. Figuring that navi is $2000 more than non-navi, you should be able to do better I would think.

On the other hand, there's usually always room to haggle, just depends on how hard you bargain. Of course it also depends on how many Acura dealers are in your area.
  • mytlmytl Member Posts: 5
I saw some rock bottom prices on this forum paid for TLs. Anyone in Boston area?

Took delivery of TL with NAVI from Clair Acura, anthracite/parchment, wheel locks + all season floor mats + trunk tray + body side molding.
$33'100 all-in, plus tax and registration (registered in and paid to NJ DMV).

I could probably do better on the price but wanted to catch special financing. Besides, there was only 1 dealer in this area who had this color combination 3 days before end of April.

This was my first time purchasing a brand new car and suprisingly turned out to be quite a pleasant experience. This is a great car and I enjoy it very much.

    Good luck!
  • johnnydoejohnnydoe Member Posts: 4
$31,300 is from the only (solely) Acura dealership in San Antonio. That price is their "no-haggle" offer, with no bargaining at all on my part. I'm still not to the point where I can show up and bargain over a single vehicle that I will buy if I get the right deal.

I'm going to Austin (60mi) today to get competing offers and will use the "no-haggle" price as a baseline. After the Austin dealerships beat the "no-haggle" price I'll see if the "no-haggle" dealership will go lower.

$31,300 is considerably higher than some offers I've seen in this thread. I was trying to figure out if its a regional thing that the price is so much higher.

Thanks for the help, and if anybody else has any input I would appreciate it.

  • laurasdadalaurasdada Member Posts: 5,214
    Hi:

I had a nice experience shopping at Clair for my '05. Non-aggressive sales, pretty straightforward. Offered me an '05 non-nav @ invoice. But they didn't want my trade, so ended up buying at Acura of Boston @ invoice plus a better (but still too low  trade value).

Boston's a good, competitive market. TLs (non-nav, at least) around invoice shouldn't be too difficult to achieve.

Worry not, you got a great car at a good price with good financing. Enjoy!

'21 Dark Blue/Black Audi A7 PHEV (mine); '22 White/Beige BMW X3 (hers); '20 Estoril Blue/Oyster BMW M240xi 'Vert (Ours, read: hers in 'vert weather; mine during Nor'easters...)

  • bartalk3bartalk3 Member Posts: 692
How is the parchment interior with the anthracite? I imagine most interiors on that car are either gray or black. Does it clash? I imagine that color combo is fairly rare, probably just a small percentage of all the anthracite.
  • liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
Going to Austin? Why not solicit email bids from them, Houston, and Dallas? If one of the other cities gives a great offer you want, get them to fedex you the actual contract and then drive or take a cheap Southwest flight to finalize the deal. I know some internet managers would pick you up at the airport with the new car!

Personally, I wouldn't waste my time driving to another city to haggle when I could do it as well or better from my home.
  • johnnydoejohnnydoe Member Posts: 4
Because I can take care of other business I have in Austin at the same time, so its no big deal. Its only 60miles. I just got back from Austin and the best offer I got is $31,000 + TTL for an OTD price of $33,138. That is on a car that would have to be transported from another dealership (3-5days). Nighthawk Black with Parchment interior, 6MT w/o nav. Its what I'm looking for and it seems like a rare find (6MT with parchment interior).

I was hoping to get the price down another $500 or so but I think I'm ready to go ahead and get it. I've had a few dealerships refuse to match $31,000 so I'm thinking that I'm at the limit and prices are just regionally high here.

Taxes are 6.25%. If you do the math for the deal above you see that titling, licensing and fees total $255. That means that the delivery charge of $615 quoted on Edmunds is included in their selling price (or waived).

    Any thoughts? Good, bad?
  • mytlmytl Member Posts: 5
Thanks laurasdada. It's indeed a great car at a good price.

As for the color combo - it's a bit too much carbon for me in gray or black interiors. Parchment comes with some wood trim and it gives the car a more luxury look, in my opinion. Anyways, I think this color combo is a good match although from practical standpoint I realize that parchment may require more maintanance for it to keep the same new look.
  • dmarcus48dmarcus48 Member Posts: 139
I would think that the color combo would look pretty good. I'm partial to dark interiors myself, but I think it would look good. Acura makes the top of the dashboard black, no matter what color interior you get.
  • carscarcarscar Member Posts: 22
Does anyone own or know how to get ebony (black) interior with wood panel? I like this combination a lot. I can configure one at Acura.com, but none of the dealers in my area have one.
  • maximafanmaximafan Member Posts: 592
Although the dealers in your area may not have
a TL with the black interior with wood trim
in stock, it would be treated as an
after-market accessory, such as purchasing the
18-inch wheels that Acura provides, and
various other accessories. You should be
able to order the wood trim, and the
dealer's service dept. should be able to
install the wood trim with a cost for labor
    added to the price.
